it is not (just) about the books you read but about the need your mind has for them.

Books to increase my mind's need for books?
>>
>>11452539
not quite. i mean that you will only make use of what you read if you have a need for it. but if you dont really have a need for new information then anything you read will go to waste or be only superficially assimilated.

like, if matilda had been born in a loving family and was emotionally supported by her parents, then she woudnt need to look for that in books. if she chose to read anyway, it would just be a hobby or a past time, as her mind would already be fed by her interactions with other people. but as she was alone, her mind needed some human contact, which she found in books. this fed the mind and gave her tools to develop her 'powers'.

Unironically the Bible. All others are inferior """"shortcuts,""""" and you know what the Japanese say about short cuts, right? "Isoge ga maware," or "If you're in a hurry, take the long way (lit. go around)." Also, in this case, the long way drops off into a pit of eternal torment.
