Do you like Zakus /m/?
>>15325355Filthy zeek scum
>>15325355I like when there are portrayed as bulk intimidating ballistic motherfuckers, with big glowing monoeyes and heat hawk. That's how they should be appreciated.
Of course I like ZAKUs!
>>15325400I prefer them when they're goofy villains
>>15325355I like those cool Blue Zakus like the one Ramba Ral uses.
>>15325411Zakus are made for bullying
>>15325355They look like shit. There's a reason nobody tries to imitate their look.
Zakus are just inferior Goufs
>>15325438Except Space Marines.
>>15325355You're goddamn right I do

I love my MG Zaku II.
>>15325355I love Zakus, OP
A classic grunt suit, Sieg Zeon
>>15326822I see what you're doing and i'm not going to be the one to say it
Yes.More than most other suits.
>>15325438the monoeye is ubiquitous
I only buy zeon gunpla and most of it is Zakus
>>15325355Of course. You'd have to be a lowlife federast to not like Zaku.
>there are people who don't like ZakusI can understand not liking Zeon. But I'll never understand not liking Zakus. I don't even like the color green and I love Zakus.
Zaku's have a utilitarian look that also has a complexity behind it that GMs didn't have until the III. Also the eye sounds are very satisfying to hear
Only some versions.Zaku I and Zaku II FZ with the helmet are the best.
>>15327117helmet looks absolutely retarded. muh nazisthetic

Please God, let me meet them. All I want to is to find that perfect Zaku I know exists. They’re sweet and shy and my age and likes all the things I do, perhaps even is on this site itself. The Zaku who won’t secretly think I’m a loser, the Zaku I can cuddle with (even if only possible online) and spent nights talking to and laughing and sharing happiness. A Zaku who can reciprocate the love I put in, the Zaku who I can make feel safe and secure unconditionally and can fill this gaping, empty void in my heart. Please, just let me find this Zaku. I’ll change everything about me if that’s what it takes Please, I just can’t take the loneliness anymore.
I have four Zaku models
Zakus are one of my favorites, especially the Kai version from 0080.
>>15325355Zakus are great, Zaku III a best. Also,>at the very end of the search results for zaku on hlj they have gouf kits
>>15327123Nazi aesthetics are peak aesthetics. Anti edgelords are still edgelords>I put "muh" in front of it, that'll show them.
>>15330851>Zaku III a bestI'm hoping the red Twilight Zaku III custom actually has updated molds, rather than the ancient kit in recolor with new stickers.>but I know I'm going to be disapointed because Bandai is lazy
>>15330932With them revamping the HGUC line and remaking older molds, I think the chances of it are a lot higher than if they would have been two or three years ago.
>>15327057>Zaku's have a utilitarian lookNot really, they have a relatively utilitarian colour scheme. Though its far from being effective camouflage being large plain panels with black highlights rather than a proper camo pattern. In terms of design they're not very utilitarian at all though and have details that serve no practical purpose. They're designed to look like they're wearing roman armor and have evil badguy spikes and incorporate elements of stormtroopers with gas masks etc.The GM is the opposite being utilitarian in design being boxy with no artistic features, but not utilitarian in colours. Now the Leo is pretty damn utilitarian.
my favorite monoeye design is still VayeateI hate how these great designs get lost in shows about mobilesuity sues in perfect gundams that beat everyone
>>15331965>no practical purposeThe spikes are for shoulder chargesThe gas mask stuff is something to do with power circulation
Best Zaku comin thru
>>15326822>>15326842THATS NO ZAKU BOY, NO ZAKU
>>15331044Yeah, but the Zaku III? When fans today are debating still whether or not ZZ is canon?I love the wonderful fatass but ZZ-related MS aren't particularly popular (I'd even argue the Zudah and several variants of older GMs are more popular than the Zaku III) It's a miracle the beautiful clusterfuck of the Doven Wolf got a modern kit (my idea of a modern kit being any kits using the socket-joint torso-shoulder PC).
>>15332023>The spikes are for shoulder chargesBut the Federation didn't have any MS to shoulder-charge when they first rolled out the Zaku II? Unless we're going by the Origin canon.
>>15333598but they did have Battleships and meleeing a battleship is the best way to avoid flak fire.
>>15325409So do I, anon!
>>15333598>>15333613Almost certainly they were meant for anti-ship shoulder hits. Gadem's fighting style in ep 3 was probably meant to convey that (with him being an older soldier and therefore trained in the older standards of combat). Zaku I's did not have the shoulder spikes for standard issue (some did but only because of field repairs or personal customization), their shoulderpad was smooth. The spikes were probably meant for puncturing ship hulls during attacks on ships along with the force of the shoulder charge. The spikes didn't serve a practical use for suits like the Gouf, they almost certainly were left on for ornamental & intimidation purposes.
>>15325355The funny thing about Zakus is that even though they're mobile suits, they serve the same role as the Type-61 does for the Earth Federation: mass-produced machine that gets smashed to pieces to show how cool the other side's stuff is.
>>15325438>There's a reason nobody tries to imitate their look.Except the Federation
>>15333928Yes, but the Zaku is as much a part of UC Gundam as the Gundams themselves are. Nobody gives a shit about tanks, even the guntanks.
>>15333951Indeed, but the Zaku is not a match to the GM model Gundams given their high destruction rate.
>>15333585>Yeah, but the Zaku III? When fans today are debating still whether or not ZZ is canon?>I love the wonderful fatass but ZZ-related MS aren't particularly popular (I'd even argue the Zudah and several variants of older GMs are more popular than the Zaku III)ZZ is canon, Unicorn solidified that, and its a shame the ZZ designs aren't more popular, the Dreissen is one of my favorite designs.
>>15326731You do know he was joking right?
>>15333598>>15333768I always thought it would be cool if the zaku shoulder was redesigned a bit for the spikes to be shaped charge warheads that can be used for melee, or to reload sturmfausts.
>>15335385When I was a kid and I got my first Zaku MSiA toy, that's what I thought they were for (since at the time I thought putting spikes on a robot that tall was silly...). Turns out that no UC spinoff has ever really given them ability, sadly. Granted, it'd be something of a one-trick pony for any character not destined to die after their first and only meeting with the Hero's Gundam.
Zaku III is best Zaku.
>>15335413It's like a Kampfer fucked a hedgehog.
>>15336721There are too many flat surfaces for that to be true.
>>15335413How could you even say such awful things
>>15333613>>15333768Why not just fly their fist through the bridge?
What about Zakos?
>>15335413It's ok, Anon, you aren't entirely alone.
>>15335413So far, most ZZ suits I've seen have looked great, but that things head is just a disaster. Way too simple and round compared to the rest of the body
>>15339168Have the custom version, then.
>>15326731>implying MS that look like used cars aren't the best thing everGM Command for life nigger
>>15333938Are Hizacks Zakus?
Question: how come Zeon never bothered to develop some kind of beam weaponry for the Zaku? Beam rifles and sabers were pretty much standard for the GM which seems kind of silly that they never sought to match parity with that.
>>15339227By the end of the One Year War Zeon-manufactured beam weapons were still relatively few in number, so they were only supplied to top-of-the-line mobile suits. Earlier examples of Zeonic particle weaponry were generally too large to equip on mobile suits.
Zeon tested.Char Approved.
Did Dozle Zabi ever see combat with his custom Zaku or was it purely ceremonial? The latter seems to be the case, but I know little from expanded universe material.
>>15339227They did make the ACT Zaku at a really late date in the OYW and that used beam weaponry but it got more use as a Titans machine then a Zeon one
>>15339157>Double dick saber
Do you sing filename while maintaining your Zaku /m/en?
>>15325411>>15325417>>15325413agreed, they were best s limited animation classic scifi villans
>>15339255True, but I figured with at least the United Maintenance Plan suits, they would have developed some type of beam rifle considering it had a higher output to begin with, due to sharing parts with the Dom and Gelgoog.
>>15340278Mobile suits in UC use part of the reactor energy to power and operate their thrusters. During the OYW there are certain higher end Zaku models with stronger reactors whose output numbers are about as high as other suits that can use beam weapons, but their higher thrust and mobility end up taking too much away from the reactor for it to be able to power beam weapons. In the case of the Zaku R type high mobility models, they sought to improve the performance by sticking on extra thrusters here and there, and sometimes building them with better reactors. My personal headcanon thinks that upgrading a normal Zaku is a bit too inefficient to expect both high mobility and beam weapons too easily, so Zeon proceeds with Act Zaku and Gelgoog development projects which are essentially brand new suits designed from the beginning to be able to use beam weapons and have same/better mobility without needing addon thrusters.>I figured with at least the United Maintenance Plan suits... United Maintenance Plan was more about spare parts and smart shortcuts wherever possible, and less about building mobile suits with the same abilities. Even if the Zaku II Kai and Rick Dom II share parts with the Gelgoog Jager, those two suits still can't use beam weapons. For one, the Zaku II Kai still has the same weak reactor as older Zakus, and it has even more thrusters (but much shorter operational time) so there's no way it can be expected to drive the power requirements of a beam cannon. The Rick Dom and its UMP version Rick Dom II were better platforms though. They did have a fairly strong reactor to begin with, and some units were able to use beam bazookas but only after modification (and the fact that beam bazooka had a small reactor built in).
>>15340325Thanks for the through and intelligent response, glad to see some semblance of intelligent discussion can be had on /m/ for the most part.

How do you /m/8s feel about re-imagined designs? This one stuck out for me, I think it's neat.

What's the Victory equivalent of the Zaku
>>15343940The Zoloat. The Zolo does not fill the role as it is derived from the Zoloat and is sorta less common, whereas the Zoloat was the rank-and-file Zanscare suit until Einerad equipped MS started to show up.
silly rabbit zaku cannon
>>15325355I like zakus but I love zudahs more

>>15339148>we'll never get a full original MSG revamp done in the 90s Gihren's Greed animation styleThere's a universe out there where this exists and I hope to see it one day.
>>15344351was supposed to be an edo period thief, someone posted the image here a while ago along with the gundam head being a samurai chonmage
>>15347104>edo period thiefExplain. My understanding is that the tubes on the head were meant to look like old metal diving suits, to emphasize the technological nature of the zaku in a primitive way, the cycloptic eye to look inhuman, and the head's shape was mean to resemble the shaved heads of Mongols and other Asian invaders, same reason the zaku uses an axe, a very unpopular weapon among japs, while the Gundam uses an honorabru samurai katana energy sword.
>>15339215best zaku imo
>>15339157>Sub-armNow you're just being fancy.
>>15344351WW1 gasmaks, more likely. Besides, distorted but identifiable human characteristics illicit some form of primal fear, which is what those crazy zeeks were probably going for.
>>15325355The real question: do Zakus like you?
>>15341470It's like the opposite of Katoki with those short stubby legs. But I always liked the RG Zaku design which has certain small details added in that I just really like. It helps that it was my first kit I ever built.
>>15339227It boiled down to the reactor output not being strong enough to support a beam weapon like >>15340325 stated. You had work arounds like the Rick Dom's Beam Bazooka where it had its own separate reactorf so it doesn't need to draw power from the mobile suit. But for the most part. Zeon didn't build a mobile suit with a strong enough reactor to support beam weaponry until the end of the war. You have to remember, prototypes for the Dom were already underway in March and they Zeon's scientists or weapon manufacturing companies weren't able to successfully miniaturize e-caps until they either stole, or reverse engineered the Federation's version which was late into the war. >>15340278The United Maintenance Plan was an oversight since originally the mobile suits used in War in the Pocket were going to retcon all the mobile suits used in previous series. But that idea was scrapped and the UMP was created to help justify the design deviations. As for the question about the Dom and Rick Dom, it did have a scattering beam cannon, however it wasn't strong enough to do any real damage and was instead used as a way to blind and confuse the enemy. The later model, the Pezun Dowadge had a powerful enough reactor where it was turned into an actual beam cannon. However it still didn't use e-caps so the beam bazooka had its own separate reactor.
>>15348999RG zaku's "nose" is too big, and it has too many panels. Why can't they just miniaturize the MG 2.0, the best zaku kit?
Yeah man I like ZakusI have a thing for the nameless and faceless goons of some evil force. Like Stormtroopers, or the soldiers of nearly any Metal Gear game
