Why does everyone swear Macky leaked Orga's location to Nobliss? Nobliss told Kudelia flat out to drop Tekkaden or else because of her known associations with them. Unless she responded immediately with "yes sir" I'd be watching her office too for Orga and friends to inevitably show up.

Considering Nobliss plays ball at Rustal's level, is it that much of a stretch to believe the old fuck has enough brains to figure that one out without captain chunni giving him a clue?

I don't think they told Rustal about faking their deaths. And Rustal wants them dead personally - the kind of dead where he'd nuke the planet just to make a statement and make sure - which is why he's traveling to Mars in the first place. He wants to stand in the center of Chryse holding up Orga's bullet-ridden head for the photo op so he can declare himself to have the biggest dick in the system
>>
>>15337637
Okada needs her shitty, forced love triangles.

I honestly like the dynamic of Kudelia and Orga. Orga is reckless and I feel like Kudelia would anchor him down a bit. They'd be cute.

Season 2 is realizing he is just a fanfic obsessed otaku Gundam nerd who still believes in Santa.

You guys are acting like they are literal brothers, while the issue is more like Shino never consider the could be that kind of relationship between "family" and never once thought about romance.

But the watcher and everyone else in the show know that kind of relationship can bloom with family, just look at the Turbines or Atra/Kudelia/Mika.

If you are wondering if Mcgillis was meant to be an idiot manchild since the beginning then yeah he was. Just see that episode where Gaelio's father wants to punish him for trying to kill Gaelio and Macky simply says that now that he has Bael it doesn't matter. He IS and WAS always meant to be autistic.

I don't think McGillis cares about killing Gaelio at this point, so I could see McGillis in their "final battle" just dodging Gaelio well enough to finish Rustal, so that even if Gaelio finally catches up and kills McGillis, McGillis himself still won in the end.

He's more of just a naive idealist, rather than an autist.

He thought that Bael would be enough to justify his authority, but neglected important loose ends because he assumed too much of the Council. When it became clear that Gaelio was most likely alive, instead of trying to find a way to kill or capture him, he just sped up his plan because he thought the old crones on the council would abide by the "tradition," of Agnika Kaieru. However, it turned out that only young reactionaries like himself give a damn about Agnika Kaieru because their lives were so shitty they found solace in the tales of a great hero and wanted to emulate him. These old fucks who lived a life of luxury off Gjallarhorn's exploitation don't give a fuck about Agnika Kaieru and will just rationalize the current order as Rustal did by saying "well, that was then, this is now, and Gjallarhorn isn't just Agnika". Like the old guy explained to him, while technically the rule is that the one who pilots Bael has absolute authority, this was a rule that was put in place during an era when absolute rule of that kind was necessary to meet an existential threat against humanity. Had Gaelio not been alive and been used as a trump card by Rustal because of plot armor, McGillis would have probably had an easier time putting down dissenters, but even then there probably would have been plenty who would dissent because not everyone is a reactionary fundamentalist like himself and some people like Rustal have investments in the present system.

He also was naive in thinking that Tekkadan was a group of people whom he could direct towards his own ambitions and he placed far too much confidence in them when really at the end of the day, they're just a bunch of dumb violent hobos who don't share his noble ideals or bearing.

>However, it turned out that only young reactionaries like himself give a damn about Agnika Kaieru because their lives were so shitty they found solace in the tales of a great hero and wanted to emulate him.

That was just McGillis. Most of the young officers would have been pretty well off.

>These old fucks who lived a life of luxury off Gjallarhorn's exploitation don't give a fuck about Agnika Kaieru and will just rationalize the current order as Rustal did by saying "well, that was then, this is now, and Gjallarhorn isn't just Agnika". >>
>>15338437
This is no Ryu no Gotoku though, let alone Yakuza Papers.
>>
>>15338393

It would leave Gjallarhorn in a serious state of disarray with no head of the Fareed, Elion and Issue families and would destroy Rustal's ultimate plan of restoring confidence in Gjallarhorn. the problem with Rustal's plan is that it relies too much on him just making a clean sweep of the rebels, but even if he destroys the rebels, if the Arianhod fleet wastes too many resources or loses its leader during the battle, then that entire plan goes to shit, Gjallarhorn loses another important leader, people see that Gjallarhorn struggles to even take out a small group of rebels with a massive fleet and McGillis ends up a martyr. And Gaelio has no one and nothing left to fight for.
>>
>>15338424
As in she carries his gundam back to ship save or helping him out when he is in a pinchee?
>>
>>15338441
>That was just McGillis. Most of the young officers would have been pretty well off.

It's implied that McGillis was popular amon young officers in particular, especially those from the colonies who joined Gjallarhorn in hopes of gaining greater respect only to be treated like dirt cause they were neither of noble blood nor true earthlings.

It was never really implied he had a large following of officers from the colonies, there was just that one guy that got drilled.

>He also was naive in thinking that Tekkadan was a group of people whom he could direct towards his own ambitions and he placed far too much confidence in them when really at the end of the day, they're just a bunch of dumb violent hobos who don't share his noble ideals or bearing.
Except Macky grew up similarly to Tekkaden (poor orphan on the streets, used and abused, bodies exploited, etc.) and gained his ambitions from that concept of crawling out of the dirt to take power from those who always 1) had more of it and 2) over you. Macky did so with toppling Iznario, Orga and Tekkaden overthrew their bosses and starting their own company. In both cases, they took the fastest road to more power, more authority. Anything in their way (the "authority and brute force" speech) can and was physically removed. Up until these last few episodes, Macky had Orga eating those same ambitions out of the palm of his hand. Macky/Tekkaden's stories, and respective paths, are supposed to parallel each other.

The difference being, as was alluded to in last week's leaks, is that Orga has friends and was always accumulating power for the sake of his family (be it to protect from poverty and/or danger), whereas Macky was always accumulating power for the sake of himself (if he stood atop the system, then no one possessed power over him).

This has been spelled out and spoonfed, repeatedly, over the course of S2. It's really not that hard.

The show sort of implies he spent the vast majority of time behind the scenes researching McGillis' movements. It's the reason why he knew where to turn up to confront him when he took off the mask in the end. He wanted to know what McGillis would use to over throw the Seven Star government and he guessed correctly.

He wanted to meet him on equal terms whether McGillis liked it or not.

I think he was actually expecting the opposite. Tekkadan and characters like S1 Gaelio actually act remarkably similar, supposedly fighting for some vague ideal (for Tekkadan King of Mars or finding Mika and Orga's place, for Gaelio, its reforming Gjallajorn) but no one really cares about those goals as long as they get to LARP alongside their friends. McGillis at this point sees himself as a dedicated Revolutionary ready to sacrifice anything for his goals, and from what he sees Tekkadan do and how Tekkadan acts, he thinks that he and Tekkadan have the same mindset, and Orga actively promotes that Tekkadan is this serious mercenary group that is willing to sacrifice and risk everything for their goals. However, Orga and the rest of Tekkadan actually see themselves as family who are risking themselves to make their lives better, they don't really care about any of that other stuff as long as they can stick together. No one really knows that's how Tekkadan operates unless you're Naze who brought them under his wing, or actually work within Tekkadan. While they were always in a state of precariousness from the start, it wasn't until late in this season where Tekkadan actually loses. Before Tekkadan is just riding off of having a bunch of Gundam frames and Mikazuki. So whereas Orga was giving all those rousing speeches about how they were willing to risk it all to achieve their goals, they'd never actually experienced a defeat in battle before, much less the destruction that Rustal dealt a few episodes back. Now that they've experienced their first real loss and McGillis is working within Tekkadan are their true colors realized.
>>

Norbliss is the most likely culprit from his conversation with Rustal. I have to wonder if Rustal ever found out that Norbliss was the one who funded all the various rebel elements or he doesn't care at this point as long as he and Gjallarhorn look good by crushing Tekkadan and Mcgillis

Orga is a petit-bourg capitalist, who will end up repeating the same abuses as his former oppressors as soon as he grows big enough.

McGillis is an entryist Revolutionary who tried to seize the state in order to topple the current corrupt society, using the traditional organs and justifications for the state's power, only to find out that they were only symbols meant to control the weak and the deep state will come after you if you try to dismantle the system.

There's a big difference, and I for one prefer McGillis for trying to change society as a whole rather than attempting to carve up a space where he can be top dog, like Tekkadan was doing

Tekkadan claims they're fighting for higher goals like muh King of Mars or muh special place, but they just outright said this episode that they don't really care about the goal or destination, as long as they can hangout together as friends.

Meh, I was never convinced Macky's desire for reform was genuine or anything more than opportunism, riding a wave of dissatisfaction to power. The way I see it, he's doing the exact same thing as Tekkadan,he's trying to become the top dog. They are the same. Only the means are different.

I doubt there is anyone left in Gjallarhorn with the competence of Rustal. McGillis organizing Carta's death left Gjallarhorn in shambles. The Fareed family is shamed because Iznario's exploits revealed the corruption of Gjallarhorn's original policy of political quietism (something Rustal has no more respect for himself) and without McGillis, Fareed has no heir.

This would only leave like four families left. In the end, the only way Gjallarhorn could survive is by basically reducing its power over the outer reaches of space in order to keep its authority within earth sphere or someone from the remaining families doing exactly what McGillis tried to do. Either way, McGillis will have "won" even if he isn't alive to smugly enjoy his victory.

Liza and the other revolutionary forces were all pretty young and presumably were much like Isurugi in that they were the minority of those colonists who basically thought like Suzaku from Code Geass that they only had to join Gjallarhorn to change the system from within. Most of the colonists don't join Gjallarhorn except for the minority whom like Ein are halfus and get special opportunity.

Not him

This isn't a people's revolt really. It's a military coup. McGillis and his "loyalists", for lack of a better word, are just a small group of military officials who attempted to size power directly from the head of the state (the 7 stars) through non-violent means, though they were prepared to eliminate the stragglers and dissidents among the lower rungs, like the Arianrhod fleet. Coups can be hit or miss, though you can say the same about people's revolutions, otherwise everyone would just revolution into a 1st world country but that's beside the point. My point is that the other anon is right to point out McGillis would still have the same problems because he's just replacing the head and his philosophy of might makes right won't actually help the downtrodden. Not that it even matters at all.

The problems with the IBO world isn't just because of Gjallarhorn and I'd go as far as to say that Gjallarhorn is just an organization that passively benefits from the climate for the most part. Mars itself is full of shady and terrible people and its economy is no way able to compete with Earth's so the inequality will always be present. The only way for Mars to really improve is to somehow come up with a magical way to compete or become more self-sufficient over time.

That said, some parts of Gjallarhorn do nasty things, like the false-flag revolt at Dort. The best thing they could do is actually keep their hands out of Mars and let the people's rage play out but Gjallarhorn's branches, even if minimally, play favorites with the jew mafia and other nasties on Mars.

I had my doubts about Macky until that scene with Almiria. And this last episode cemented the idea that what separates Macky and Tekkadan is that Choco-Mac actually has higher ideals he's striving for that go beyond just carving out a comfortable niche for himself. Orga may have been all aboard the "King of Mars" train, but his motivations for becoming King of Mars were somewhat different than the motivations Mack Attack has had for taking over Gjallarhorn. Orga's motivations came across as a bit more selfish, in that he wanted a comfortable life for his family and that's all and really he was the only one in Tekkadan who had any real comprehension of this idea, most of his friends just going along with him cause he was their friend and leader, but they could really have cared less about being King of Mars. McGillis wants to create a better world for his loli and basically be the savior of the downtrodden like Agnika Kaieru. He thought that maybe he could direct Mika's strength towards a greater, more spiritual goal, but this episode he realized that's asking too much of space dogs who only really think of how to get their next meal.

Here's the current status / potential outcome for the Seven Stars.

Issue: Collapsed from Carta's death and her father is presumed dead
Fareed: Heirless since Mcgillis is basically disowned and Iznario is now outed as gay
Bauduin: Potentially heirless if Gaelio dies and IFF Almiria kills herself if Mcgillis dies
Elion: Could collapse if Rustal dies, while logicially unlikely but it is possible. Depending on the outcome of this mop up the Arianrhod Fleet's reputation might be tarnished as well
Kujan: Schrodinger's Iok (I honestly have no idea if he will live or not)
The other two Literal Whos: Will probably be okay since they are on Earth with Papa Bauduin

Frankly I'm not sure if Gjallarhorn is capable of picking up the pieces afterwards if at least two heads / heirs die

It has serious pacing problems, stemming from too much talking fluff. Like half the show is just irrelevant and/or repeated talking points and tiny plotlines that have little to no relevance to most of the cast or the larger plotlines at hand. There's some good stuff in it but there clearly isn't enough material to fill out 50 episodes and they're just trying to drag things out to fill allotted time slots.

Anon, you're right. I honestly wish there was more Revolution-type stuff like was hinted in Dort arc, but so far in this season there was only Macky to feed my hopes in, even though all he really did was attempt a coup. Honestly hoped for a genuine revolution, hopefully it'll appear in the epilogue inspired by McGillis and disgusted with the entirety of IBO society.
>>
>>15338766

Keep in mind too that the cleaning up of Tekkadan is supposedly a major media event at this point in time in the story. After Tekkadan and Kudelia's actions, all the outer spheres began rising up, and Gjallarhorn has been struggling to keep all these uprisings in check. Everybody is probably watching how this fight turns out and depending on how it goes, they will weigh the cost/benefit of fighting against Gjallarhorn's authority. If Rustal wipes out Tekkadan and kills McGillis easily, no problem. But if it takes days to remove Tekkadan when it should have been a matter of hours, if Rustal dies and the Arianhod is stuck without a strong leader, or if McGillis manages to get away and hide himself in some bunker someplace where he can broadcast his speeches as Gjallarhorn struggles to find him, Gjallarhorn might never recover. Rustal's victory depends on a perfect score.

With this show, I could see them pulling something where in an epilogue, it is Almiria who now is the top dog of Gjallarhorn

>Is there any proof of that? for an organization that hates colonists it sure had a lot of officers from the colonies on earth.

In the 1st season, it was stated that the only reason Ein was even let into Gjallarhorn was because his dad was a prominent Earthling and even after having the respect of Crank and two heirs to the seven stars, the average officers still talked down to him. I'm guessing it was the same for guys like Isurugi who had very little opportunities in space except to join Gjallarhorn and hope they could change people's chauvinistic attitudes by displaying their merit. The narrative was trying to use Isurugi to tell us about the kinds of people who were attracted to McGillis, so I think it's safe to assume most of the young officers who heeded McGillis' call to arms came from similar circumstances.

>Rustal thanked Gali for retrieving her after the fight and was worried about her when the chaff went off.

Probably because she's useful. it's like thanking someone for saving your prized hunting dog that would cost you thousands to replace. I doubt he has any sentimental feelings for her. The only reason he keep Iok around is because despite his incompetence, he is good at rallying people cause of his father's reputation.

Not arguing that they were treated poorly, but if it was difficult to become an officer as a colonist, then why were there enough of them for a small revolt, especially all stationed in the cushier post.

>Not arguing that they were treated poorly, but if it was difficult to become an officer as a colonist, then why were there enough of them for a small revolt, especially all stationed in the cushier post.

Again, the only colonists who managed to get into Gjallarhorn seem to be mostly those who came from an uppercrust among the colonists, the halfbreeds whose lineage guaranteed them a position in Gjallarhorn but wasn't noble enough to guarantee them the respect of the other officers. And some of them like Isurugi probably worked their asses off twice as hard to get where they were, but always resented the fact that they had to do so just because they weren't lucky enough to be born into the Seven Stars or some family of higher rank. They were high enough that they didn't have to live in squalor like so many others, but were always reminded that there was a ceiling they could probably never reach. At least that's my take.

>I haven't got that vibe yet, but there really isn't much evidence to go either way.

Rustal comes across as just a ruthlessly practical commander who probably doesn't have time for sentimental nonsense. he respects Julieta's talent and Iok's capacity for inspiring loyalty in others despite being a fuck up, but I doubt he would take a bullet for either of them.

Eh, you actually have a point there. Though then again nothing proves Macky wasn't just trying to bait Mika with a carrot of ideals, the way he did with Gaelio and every other officers who followed him, only to realize that wouldn't work because Mika just doesn't care about ideals. But I suppose the truth is somewhere between those two extremes.
Macky is such a good Char clone, I love that there are many ways to interpret what he's doing. There's also irony of him believing the world doesn't rotate around ideals even though he's probably the one guy who's most intoxicated on them. >>

That specific definition? No. But every other definition I found only specifies that they need to be the primary or principal character, and given that Mika is the one appearing in nearly all advertising, his MS is the poster boy for the series, his fight scenes receive the most time and budgeting, and whether you like it or not he has a great effect on other characters like Choco, Atra, Kudelia, and Orga.

IBO will end up with everyone dead.

What's the conclusion to the various character arcs? They all die.

McGillis and Gaelio will kill each other, and a huge asspull will be drawn to allow Mika to kill Julieta and Rustal.
>>
Protagonist is just who the audience is here to see. Almost always the one the story is about and also the one who gets the most focus to further convince the audience he's important.

It's Mika. That's how the show is advertised. You're here because you saw the Gundam and Mika as the pilot and you thought he was the lead guy and the show keeps pushing him in our faces even though he does nothing.

All the nonsense about protagonist and main character being different is new age hokey nonsense and you'll find a million different definitions. It's completely unimportant.

If you honestly believe that there's a difference you're probably a retard who read some blog or textbook by people who've never once been successful in their lives despite pretending to be experts.

I should've been more skeptical back when the series was announced, and it was revealed Okada was involved. But I wanted to give it a chance.

But it's so obvious what kind of conclusion IBO is heading to right now. I almost don't even want to bother finishing the series, because the ending I expect is just going to make the whole show feel like a waste of time.
>>
>>15339044
Just because they flesh out his buttboy backstory the same episode as his big play doesn't mean that his motivation is not wanting to get buttraped again, anon. He probably doesn't want a world where that can happen to other people, but that's about it. At the end of S1 when he's imprisoning Iznario, even shows that he's personally over it, and is now just doing all he can to achieve his goals
>>
>>15339118

>>15339125
I'm still suspicious about the blame Okada posters, since the problem hasn't exactly been the writing, especially considering how many interesting (though underexplored) ideas there are, but how the show is being directed. If anything the biggest problem has been that the show takes forever to tell the story, which is why the deathflags come from miles away for every character. If the director had done his job and moved everything along at a faster pace, there wouldn't have been much of a problem.

Tekkadan deserves everything they got, mostly thanks to Orga being a shit leader. I'm only gonna be disappointed if it ends with Gjallajorn remaining firmly in charge and just as corrupt (if not more) as the start of the show. I want a real Revolution already, dammit!
>>
>>15339171

The director certainly does not help, because he is a hack choke artist too. But no, this is Okada's work. You see, whenever people are out there shit talking Okada, her defenders pop up and say "you don't know how much she wrote!" "her role is not that big!" "she's a good writer, you're just following the hate train, you never watched an Okada show probably."

No, you can tell her involvement because a lot of her shows with different directors have the same bullshit. There's always specific indicators, like a calling card. When I watch IBO and look at what a clusterfuck is I can see the hand of Okada there. She set it up. I can smell her.

The hamfisted sudden forced drama. The longwinded beginning that forces a disjointedly fast second half. The abysmally written, chemistry-less main romance. The constant buildup with no payoff. Yeah, that's her alright.
>>
>>15339175

>Okada is fine if her involvement is minimized and the director is fighting to polish her turd composition and writing

Yeah, no. M3 was good in spite of her, not because she helped.

I think is mostly due to the general romantic view of what love should be in the western world, so in general I understand the dislike and partly share it, imo it simply does not feel satisfying especially since it seems Atra and Mika don’t really understand the complete concept of love and kudelia is riding along because she is like that

It is pretty much the only way to describe him right now, consider that he escaped death four times (Hashmal, cracked glass on bridge, almost got Dainslef'd, and almost got skewered by Mcgillis) he will either survive or die in some hilariously contrived manner in the finale. The launch that carries him will somehow malfunction and crash into Skipjack's bridge killing him and Rustal
