***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

**MELEE GROUP BUILD**

Build/paint a robot with a loadout focused on melee combat! Anything from shields to swords to lances to axes to bare fists is fair game. There's no room for ranged weaponry here, however, so anything resembling a rifle, Rocket Launcher, cannon, pistol, or any other ranged weapon is a no-go (Small ranged weapons that are built into the kit itself like head vulcans are ok, however).

More clarification here:
>If the body part has a built-in ranged weapon (head/chest vulcans, claw beams, etc), then that's fine. If it's a separate part like the Alex's arm vulcans it's best to leave those off.
>Melee weapons with in-universe ranged capabilities (Like the Kimaris's lance or the Gyan's shield) are fair game too.
>Any scale and any brand is fair game here, you're not limited to just using Gundams this time around.

looking around again it seems that the mr cement limonene type has the same consistency as mr cement s or tamiya extra thin cement, so just keep that in mind when you use it

also if you can, mr leveling thinner works much better than mr color thinner, and mr retarder added on top of that will even out your coats even more

thats if hobbywave offers them though

Robot4less needs to go out of business. When I worked there the markup was only yen price +30% so 1000 yen kit was 13 bucks but they had sales every month at least 15 20% then it went up to 40% and now it's 50% 75 usd for a 5000 yen kit Lmao.

Its a marketing gimmick guys. They pull this like every two years. Remember revive kits? Remember all gundam project? Remember that 30th anniversary push? They just change it up every few years and toss in some new small engineering gimmick which the entire line doesn't even start using anyways.

Its just marketing.

what the fuck is it with you guys and your delusions, the 2003 version was also a parts former. so you would rather have a poorly articulated kit with bad portions but can transform? mate these are model kits not toys that were meant to be played with.
>>
>>15457651
To add to that, the Old-HG Zeta had its transformation modified, because they couldn't get the normal transformation to work at 1/144 back then. It's technically the "Wave Shooter" Zeta due to that.

iirc the zeta was the kit that was used to feature the advance evolution thing when it was first revealed

a poster with the text advance evolution with a pic of the zeta below
>>
>>15457740
The engineering is fine for the most part, I just wish that they would have been able to separate the edges of the flying armor. Those foils are so bad I'm seriously considering either not finishing my Zeta team or just getting the RG instead.

>>15457745
The accessories are looking pretty good for the Barzam too. Its got closed fists AND spread hands!
>>
I don't really see a problem with the zeta, I'm just happy I only need three color to paint it up and make it look good. I've very happy with it, I can finally get a really good Zeta Gundam team on my shelf. I would love more parts separation but hey this will be fun.
>>
>>15457740
Zeta had a lot of clout behind it, being the first AE kit and, well, the fucking' Zeta.

It's got good engineering, loads of inner-frame parts, and introduced the new shoulder joints that the Barzam uses. But those changes aren't outwardly visible, and what's readily apparent is that it's just as much of a partsformer as the original and the red on the Waverider wings are stickers -- never mind that partsforming is more stable than an accurate transformation, or that the color separation is far better than the first HGUC's, or that it's still got raised edges on the wings that make it easier to paint the red parts.

Meanwhile everyone's just glad that the Barzam finally gets a kit that also takes advantage of all of the advances in Gunpla engineering. Also Barzam memes.

Question for anyone who has built a zeta...which is the one to buy for my collection? Which one wont fall apart on me every 5 mins? I like the looks of that RG but half of the ones I've snapfagged fall apart and I don't even want to mess with them
>>
>>15457983
mg 2.0 looks great, but very finicky to move, especially the hips and arms. the feet are very weird as well. comes with a base so it was made to either stand there like in the hangar or launching/arial poses. iirc the weapons like to fall out often but other than that, it will hold together. transformation looks great, but its a pain to transform. theres a reason why the whole torso is replaced

The local model shop. The guy running it sold be a couple old beat to shit messerschmitts for cheap as free. The scales were 1:48 and 1:72. But half the decals didnt seem original to the kit. It looked like they got thrown in there an forgotten about. So who the fuck knows what they actually are. I used the tamiya plane stuff, with testors for some detailing/reverse washing. I dont think I'll ever use testors again as a main base after the multiple times I had it just melt off for no reason. Maybe they are better with an air brush, idk. Not bad as far as the colors go. Although I will say every time I tried to use red in my color schemes it stuck out REALLY bad. Although a more muted red like in your pic is better.

I wouldn't buy it...

The early 00 MGs had serious joint problems like the Crossbones. The hard plastic on hard plastic got worn out or something very quickly. My GN-X is a flopfest and I need to occasionally tighten it up with electric tape
>>
>>15459192
It has a commander horn, binders on the shoulders, a slightly different back skirt, and a new gun. And a new color scheme, I guess.

Honestly it's about a "This thing actually should be P-Bandai" design as it gets. I can't imagine a non-gundam 00 design getting much sales at all, and it's 95% recycled from the original MG GN-X.
>>
>>15459228
Don't forget that it's recycling a relatively old kit now.

The 00 MGs sort of shot for the stars engineering wise, but personally I think only the MG 00 itself actually ended up a good kit.
>>
>>15459241
Besides the shitty backpack falling off the Qan[T] is a nice kit.

>>15458858

It seemed like Bandai was going to "celebrate" the 00 10th anniversary with just PG Trans Am Raiser, but now that there's a second 00 release (and a grunt at that) I've got some hope for the next expo.

I think MG Exia 2.0 is a distinct possibility. Maybe RE/100 Reborns will become reality too.

This is a problem ship and tank builders get with old decals a lot, it's called "Silvering".
Did you gloss coat before you applied the decals?
Did you use any decal softener? If not you can try to apply decal softener and "scratch " the decal with a razor blade. It should reduce the silvering.
>>
>>15459395
I dont have any decal softener, and I didnt gloss coat. Guess I should have read about it before I went in. So its only a thing for old decals then? That would make since because they came from old as fuck messerschmitt kits.
>>
>>15459406
modern decals can still have it happen, It's just one of those problems that modelers sometimes have to deal with.
Surface preparation and good quality decals are key to good results.

Good Idea. But im done shooting for now, next time I'll try that. This thing is legit hard to move around. Iv'e already fucked up a bit of the paint with this shoot. I'll have too search for some old WW2 photos for some inspiration.

Still miles better than the other Snapfags that regularly post here.

Man, this thing is surprisingly poseable. If anyone here wasnt going to buy the option kit bacause they were worried about issues with the land Man Rodi legs, there is little issue aside from not having much forward motion in ankle joint since its on a fixed rocker instead of a ball and stick.

Any way, who's got some paint scheme ideas?

>>15456911
Hell no, I didnt. Also thats a Gusion box not a Man Rodi. I got the Man Rodi for like $20 bucks
>>
Did HLJ remove the good old "pay when your order is ready" option? I don't wanna deal with all the "let us use your payment information so we'll charge you automatically" shit

Meant to ask, are these kits good/bad? I know the rx-78 and the Dom are good, but I haven't had a chance to look at reviews for the others.
>>
>>15459816
Well you can't go wrong with the revive series, the rx78 is definitely worth. The O is a nice kit too posability could be better but its bulky so its hard to avoid. The gouf custom is also prettt good i like it, idk about the juaggu or that specifc unicorn though but im sure they're fine
>>
>>15459470
Why wouldn't it? IBO kits are often limited to 100 degree bends in the arm/leg joints. and otherwise have comparable range of motion to contemporary HGUCs/Revives/Origins that were released at the same time. Meanwhile the new Zeta has the same engineering as modern HGUCs, along with a new set of shoulder joints.

I get that shitting on the new Zeta is currently the hip contrarian thing to do, but you faggots are making shit up to get mad over at this point.
>>

Shit. I legit love this thing. Good simple kitbash anon. I vote Gogg colors.

Is there any place where I can buy Dragonar kits cheap? Didn't see anything on Mandarake and I've taken a liking to these guys. Does Bandai even bother with re-production runs for non-Gundam kits?

The rest of my backlog. Really need to just focus on what I have, but since I started working next to my hobby shop, I can't help but stop by there after payday and pick things up. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Has anyone ever done a custom Unicorn Gundam in Lisa Frank colors? I need to know for science.

God I wish there was a HG GM III 2.0 or something. Bought the HG and even though it has a decent build, its so basic when there can be so much more added to it. I hope that Bandai gives the feddies some love on the RG line and decides to add the GM III, or maybe even the Jegan or Jesta.
>>
My hobby shop had a bunch of the new Star Wars kits. I've been hunting for the Millennium Falcon since I picked up the X-Wing set a few weeks ago. I finally found it and snagged it up. Only $5 higher than online. I was pretty pleased.
>>
How about if they just made a Zeta Gundam that didn't transform and just looked cool in MS mode.

>>15460572
That would be like making an RX-78-2 that doesn't core block and said it was from the origin.

8/10, well done anon it's looking crazy good. Get some paint on it and it'll be a 10/10 piece of work.

First time painter, after I paint do I want to do a full gloss or semi gloss top coat to detail and panel line? Semi gloss brings it back to almost that plastic sheen. I think I'm going to do the full gloss as the final top coat but I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm using Tamiya metallic spray cans as well as their various top coats. I think I have all the clear coats, Clear, Semi Gloss, Flat, and Pearl....

SOON™ I'm actually really digging the colours its has now. I might not change it much aside from the addition of highlights and some nicer shades of paint than the bare plastic colours.
