The walk animation is really weird, like the unit is being held up by strings and just imitating a walk instead of actually contacting the ground. The legs don't compress or bend enough or something I suppose?

I'm honestly surprised at how well it's picked up from where it left off, and respected the audience enough to not bury the first episode in recap stuff to catch new viewers up
>>
>>16417669
In Japan they released two or three compilation movies recently to recap S1 and TSR so they can start new series from where TSR ended.

In FMP: Another.
>>
>>16417713
Basically something's "whispering" all sorts of information on super-advanced tech into her head and Amalgam wants that shit
>>
>>16417713
>I can't even remember why Chidori is so special and why everyone wants to get her.

Without spoiling anything that's upcoming - she's one of the Whispered.

The Whispered were all born on Christmas Eve, 1981. They are all on some level genius level intelligent, and are each unnaturally knowledgeable on specific areas of science, technology, engineering etc. That knowledge is unique in every case, every Whispered knows things that none of the others know, which makes them all individually irreplaceable and valuable.

For example, Souske's mech the Arbalest and it's AI system was made by a Whispered who ended up committing suicide, meaning it's secrets are completely lost. It's why they can't make another one, or even modify the Arbalest to be usable by anyone but Souske.
>>

I'd say it looks less weightless and like it isn't even properly touching the ground and instead just kind of floating, because the legs/hips only move side to side and don't really move up/down at all. There needs to be some bit of compression in the legs or something maybe? There's definitely something weird looking with the gait regardless.

I just meant more in the fact that lambda-equipped mechs can do things that are physically impossible, like stand on a very small platform that could never support its weight.
>>
>>16421529

Sure, but none of them are technological devices that outright ignore the laws of physics. What they are is natural phenomena that we don't actually understand yet, and any that appear to ignore the laws of physics are much, much more likely to indicate an incomplete understanding of the actual laws than a breaking of them.

>>16425382
No. Leonard's father is a US Navy sub captain who was frequently away from home for several months at a time. Leonard got horribly screwed up because he found out that his mom cheating on his dad, and his mom saw Leonard when he accidentally saw her with her lover. Come the assassination attempt that killed his parents, Leonard's mom attempted to bargain by offering him in exchange for her and Tessa's lives.
>>
>>16424629
As >>16424760 said, it was also for everyone else, not just for himself. Also, he has a profound sense of guilt around Sousuke, especially since it was Kalinlin's decision to hand off 5-year-old Sousuke to the KGB that shaped that kid into Kashim. Kalinlin feels that there's no reason that the gentle child he once knew should be an assassin and then a merc. If undoing all that damage means going along with Leonard's plans, then so be it.

They are certainly an important part of Leonard's character and inform his misogyny, but a larger and more crucial part of his thinking is that if there's a way to remove the curse of the Whispered and steer the world away from threatening Black Technology, then it's moral to take that path. He literally just wants himself, his sister, and the world to be normal.
>>
>>16426136
Who is he to want to change it back to begin with? That doesn't really justify anything. Sosuke calls him out on that very bullshit that he gave away his own ideals for his own false sense of guilt for something nobody ask him to do. His whole betrayal is retarded since it comes out of nowhere,
>>
>>16426146
Well, edge-Leonard started to get ideas about taking power in a reset world IIRC, but pre-edge he was alright.
>>
>>16426148
In FMP, the cold war never ended, and the world is considerably more ravaged by conflict. Realizing that isn't natural and SHOULD NOT BE is just icing on the cake for the cause of rewriting that carnage to never have happened.
>>
>>16426157
Also, Iraq has been glassed by an Amalgam nuke during OTL Gulf War. Badass mecha aside, it's a worse world.
>>
>>16426146
>They are certainly an important part of Leonard's character and inform his misogyny
That's the main reason hence why he loses because Sosuke called his mother a whore. The problem with his ideals was that he was just going by a belief that wasn't real because his own problems with the world applied to everyone in the world hence why he loses to the two people who suffered the most from the transition (Tessa and Sosuke)

Not entirely, so long as you aren't roped into using proprietary ammo types.

Even in the USMil arsenal we've got several calibers of munitions, sometimes you need a gun to shoot 7.62 because 5.56 don't cut it.

Though, other than the SCAR and I think the Stoner 63, modular weapon platforms like that don't seem to get much traction, probably because it's a clusterfuck to keep up with for anything larger than a SPECFOR team.
