How would you rate Comic #58 out of 10 /mlp/?
Later this month we should get Legends of Magic #6 featuring Mage Meadowbrook:My Little Pony: Legends of Magic #6 >Jeremy Whitley (w) • Brenda Hickey (a & mc) • Heather Breckel (c) • Zachery Sterling (sc) • Abigail "LeekFish" Starling (ric)>The famous healer Mage Meadowbrook comes to an abandoned village. A search for the town's residents will reveal a terrible affliction that may be incurable unless Mage can think quick!
>>30930299Twilight, you have a fucking horn and the magic of a fucking alicorn. Just use it
>>30930308>earth magicMud pony magic doesn't exist.
>>30930333Next month we should get Comic #59 featuring a one shot of Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash:My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #59>Christina Rice (w) • Agnes Garbowska (a & mc) • Sara Richard (sc) • Tony Kuusisto (ric)>Pinkie Pie finds out a secret about Rainbow Dash… She hates pie!! Will Pinkie be able to show Dash the wonders of pie, or will Dash turn the tables on her?
>>30930321Artwork was solid, nobody was much out of character, though the thing with Fluttershy was a little weird with the whole wing thing.Giving it a 7/10.
>>30930262>explains why she hasn't gotten one yet>>30930268>"why haven't you gone to get it before?"
>>30930321I don't know how to rate this, because it's...weird. We're missing the context from which this comic started at, because it feels like it's playing off right where the upcoming episode ends. But all in all, it was pretty good nonetheless. I enjoyed Fluttershy actually being useful, and good continuity callback with the dragons in town.
>>30930343This sounds very much like one of the upcoming episodes. Has Hasbro basically gotten sick of the turds Curnow kept approving and is tying the comics closer to the show from now on?Not that this would be a bad thing.
Next week episode is the one with the zebra AIDS or the one with rarity mane problem?
>>30930361Pretty much, yes. You didn't infer that when they gave them character designs and told them the stories they had to write with LoM?If there's not at least some connection to the show, it's not allowed anymore. At least while the season is airing, I guess.
>>30930374Rarity mane first, then Zigger aids. Which I'm betting is cured by this cat tail guy.
>>30930361>Not that this would be a bad thing. It actually good because the LoM comicline and some ones of the main line after the #50 are kinda decent(except the one with ember and the yaks)
>>30930390The yak/dragon one is a prime example of why the IDW staff needs to keep their SJW tendencies out of the writing process.
Wonder how Shadowlock and his edgelord ancestry is gonna tie into all these
>>30930407S7 finale. Pony of shadows, remember?
Twilight is such a cute pony. Look how excited she is.
>>30930398Guess what. Pic related will be about this>Issue #61 begins a two part arc with a "United Nations" meeting of various species around the planet Equestria is on. Some issue comes up that may "cost ponies ownership of Canterlot." Written by Ted Anderson, drawn by Andy Price.A lot of races + Politics + Canterlot + Ted Anderson
>>30930430Surely the comic leaders interacting with the show ones will go over well and that will not be a mess of a storytime thread.
>Good Comic>Probably will get archived with less than 100 replies
>>30930430>the deer are coming backFucking rad. I liked them, looking forward to that.>Queen Novo in the giant fish tankI know it's only because they knew this cover would be revealed before the movie and didn't want to show off her true form, but it's funny regardless.>Ted AndersonOoooooohboy.
>>30930469too bad,have mine
>>30930430>ted anderson>no jeremy whitleyTed is kinda pussy to add something controversial since the power ponies drama. We could be fine if the lead writer(Jeremy Whitley) don't fuck up everything editing their SJW shit like the yak/dragon comic or this page >>30930257
>>30930501>l since the power ponies drama.Wait, what power ponies drama? I really liked that issue.
>>30930376>>30930390Considering how often we get absolute shit from IDW, having someone from Hasbro mandating stories is a very, very good thing. Now, all I need to hear is Fosgitt falling down a flight of stairs and breaking every bone in his hands on the way down and we might be on track after all this horror.
>>30930666I'd like to thank Satan for making my wish possible. At least I get to keep my soul if He can't come through.
>>30930666>fosgitt breaks his hands>His drawing actually improves
>>30930656It was a good issue overall, but the fandom collectively blew its lid because of this background pony. This is actually an OC owned by Tumblr user DragonDicks, who has been harshly critical of bronies to the point where she's implied they shouldn't be allowed to watch and enjoy MLP at all. A bunch of people got pissed and emailed IDW about it. Ever since, IDW has been far more strict about things like creator OCs and whatnot. This is just the cliffnotes version of what happened, and I'm sure somebody out there has a more detailed story.
>>30930726Oh that, yeah, I remember that. Yeah, honestly that OC shouldn't have been in there, over reactions aside, really.
have the quality of the comics improved at all i stopped buying them paperback and reading them a few years ago for some reason and then shortly after i read the quality is dropped hard and i never felt motivated to start buying them again anything change?
>>30930343This premise sounds so dumb... I can't wait for the episode or this comic.Great opportunity for a certain Wonderbolt to appear, but I'm not holding my breathe.
>>30930241So I take it this new guy is going to be in A Health of Information?
>>30930321do I even have to say it
>>30930321It was okay, plot wise, even if we're missing some context like this new guy and Meadowbrook since this came out before the episode. Kind of dumb Twilight couldn't just teleport to the flower. Other than that 6/10.>>30930705I laughed harder at this than I should have.
>>30930430Please-o-please for the love of God, don't do a Native American allegory of the buffaloes claiming Canterlot is stolen sacred land.
>>30930889The stories after issue 50 in the main series, as well as the Legends of Magic series, follow the show much more closely but quality can still vary. I'd personally say most issues recently have ranged between decent to good with the yak/dragon 2-parter being the only stinker.Friends Forever was consistently good throughout. Ironically, the 1st and last issues are terrible but everything else in between was a fun read.
>>30930321It was really boring. One I feel I'm a bit lost because the episode this is tied too doesn't come out for two weeks, and 2nd it feels like there is no conflict. They go to Filly to find Vine's descendant, she's eager to help, they find the flower with her help, Twilight's obsession gets brought up two pages before it's resolved, they work together and get the flower, Mage and Vine's descendants bang. There was no tension or uncertainty of where the story was going and even the Mage cutaway itself was very brief and anti-climactic. It was just... kinda uninteresting.Which, to be fair, is better than outright shit like the mainline can be sometimes so I'll give it a 5/10 but, yeah. Not really going to remember a lot from this one.
Did Fluttershy just become an airbender?
>>30930257Mina is there!Mina is canon!
>>30930321Why ALL of those legend of magic comics are so boring and uninspiring? I wasn't interested in any recent comic for the last year.
>>30931625This isn't LoM. They generally arent boring but this is.
>>30931466Its a Zahler comic. What did you expect?Related while I'm talking about writers, where is Asmus?
>>30930343>make comic about episodewhatsince when is this allowed?
>>30930224Aww. Twi was so cute in this comic.
>>30932015Since almost every comic in past few months
>>30930321was alright, not much else to be said 6/10
>>30930247> HandwrittenCURNOW, DO YOUR FUCKING JOB!
>>30932412She indeed was. I know she has other problems with her art, but this one draws some cute ponies.
What is the best comic arc and why is it cursed water.
>>30934371That's not how you write "Rarity and the Hippie ponies", dear newfag.
>>30934371I'm partial to Neigh Anything High School Shining arc myself as far as arcs go.>>30934413If we go by individual comics though then that one is way up there. I think there's 3 or 4 that would go above it for me though.
>>30932674He is.He wants this series to die one triggered fan at a time.
>>30930281>THE SALT SPRAYS

>>30930261VERY GOOD FRIENDS
>>30930417Vector this one, please
>>30937249I'll get to that when I get home. Look in mlpg tonight if this thread doesn't survive till then.
Slightly related thread, I need some advice lads. I'm after the Movie Comics, I'm aiming to get the 4 prequel ones they released. Now, the thing is, these Comics released in a compilation book, which is available for £7 with the cover on the left. Alternatively, I can get all 4 comics for £20, with the 4 covers on the right. I much prefer the covers on the right, but it's almost 3 times the price, and having them in one book is sort of convenient.I know in the end this is something only I can really answer, but I'm a bit torn so would appreciate any tips either way. It's worth noting I've not read any of them either. Thanks lads, and as always, thanks for the storytime
>>30941535I can't really help with that, but if you like the art of the separate covers, at least #1 and #2 are in the compilation book, both are pages in the preview on Amazon (towards the end, but be careful with the spoilers)https://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pony-Movie-Prequel/dp/168405107XObviously they're just regular pages, it's not the same, and I don't know if the other two covers are there too, but somehow you'd still have those two covers if you bought the compilation. Also, for what it's worth, keep in mind that these aren't regular pony comics, and even though the mane 6 are on the covers, they aren't part of any story. The four comics are about Storm King, Celaeno, Capper, and Tempest Shadow.
>>30941664>I can't really help with that,But you did anon, I had no idea the book contained the covers too, even if it's not the same.Might make a thread in the hope someone has the book on the left just to confirm if all the covers are in there at the back. Or to see if there's a rip online of the book. Because if that's the case, I think I can settle for the cheaper option, it really is just the covers I love the look of, I know the content is the same. I know the comics cover the villains, I just need to catch up on a lot of them. Appreciate you keeping it spoiler free for me, you're a damn good lad. I hear they're pretty interesting and hopefully the movie itself is awesome too, even though some books have leaked half of it
>>30941664I see the paperback there, but I'm not seeing an online version from Kindle unfortunately. I'd have to wait and see if it's possible to get it physically, and I was thinking of getting the TPB from my LCS so you may be in luck if those are in there. It'll have to wait till the weekend if I do it though.>>30937249Sorry I'm taking so long with that. The tail portion with the mist over it is giving me some trouble trying to recolor it to be the correct colors, but I have from the tail up for now if that'll suffice.
>>30943369This for >>30941535?
>>30943473Yeah should've been for both actually. My bad.
>>30943490Oh, in any case, I really appreciate the offer anon. It's sweet, but I wouldn't want you to go out of your way looking for this. I made a separate thread asking if anyone has it, but I'm not sure either this one or that will make it to the weekend anyway. Thanks though, I do appreciate it
>>30943507>but I wouldn't want you to go out of your way looking for thisDon't worry about that. I practically go to my LCS every weekend anyway to see if any board games pique my interest, so it's hardly out of my way. I still have Legends of Magic #5 that I'm wanting physically too, so I'd be there either way.
>>30943518Well that's mighty kind of you. Don't really know how you'd update me though.I got Legends of Magic #5 just today, haven't read it yet though, but Sonambula's story in Daring Done? was pretty cool
>>30943541>Don't really know how you'd update me though.I can just post them in mlpg if the thread dies. Storytimes usually last a little after the episode, so it'll probably have to be there.>Sonambula's story in Daring Done? was pretty coolShe's a real qt that Somnambula. Reminds me of a toned down Pinkie when she's written well in the show. Scenario felt like a Swarm of the Century type one.
>>30943551I'll keep an eye out, thanks again!>Scenario felt like a Swarm of the Century type one.Hmm, I'm not seeing it. Maybe because it's early, but care to explain? The main way Somnambula reminded me of Pinkie was her hope, and her desire to spread that hope to others
>>30943568Everyone thought Somnambula was crazy and she turned out to have a very unconventional solution to the problem. What you described is a reason she's pretty Pinkie like too though.
>>30943574>she turned out to have a very unconventional solution to the problem. With you on the first part, not so much crazy as perhaps mistaken though, but not with you here. Wasn't solving the riddle posed by the Sphinx the problem? She did exactly that, seemed pretty conventional to me
>>30943582Maybe we're thinking of different things. I'm talking about in the comic, and I forgot that you hadn't read it yet.
>>30943598Ah, I'm talking about the episode. This comic's sounding pretty interesting, I'll have to get to it
I wasn't able to get to my LCS today for the compilation of the movie prequel comics, but I did get this in the mail. I'm going to scan it now and see about posting it up tonight.
>>30948316What's this about then? Also, am I wrong in saying these books have pretty much given the movie away at this point?
>>30948586My Little Pony: The Movie: Adventure Awaits (Replica Journal)> Hasbro (Author)>Take a look at Pinkie Pie's scrapbook!>Experience adventure alongside your favorite pony pals in a whole new way with this fun scrapbook with fold-out flaps created by Pinkie Pie! >>30948597Any chance you have a compilation of the archive links of your story times of these movie books? I've missed a bunch, I'm trying to stay spoiler free, but I feel like they'll be useful to keep bookmarked after the fact
>>30948618Honestly I've been trying to keep spoiler free as best as I can myself. I actually missed two of the digital releases and was lucky other Anons were there to do it instead. I only did the Tempest chapter book and movie art book so far. I'd keep an eye here for the books though since this guy's pretty good about keeping things up to date:iwatchitfortheplot.romesilvanus.io/Pony/Books/Official/If you want the threads then searching the archive for the subject "Storytime" should bring up any threads.
>>30948634>searching the archive for the subject "Storytime" should bring up any threads.Useful, thanks. Can't imagine it's easy to both storytime and keep spoiler free. Thanks for that link, will make a note of it
>>30948644It's pretty much impossible to keep completely pure if I have to proof all the things I post, but I still don't know what they're saying and how exactly things play out at least.
>>30948663I both sympathize with you and admire you
Nearly done with >>30948316. Just archiving and uploading the RARs now.
