You know, I've let this album digest a bit, and, I know this might sound kind of weird, but I think this is one of the best rock albums of all time.
>>
You can't call your own album one of the best Will. Besides, I thought you were done shilling here?
>>
>>81442953
He's sad people don't post about him here anymore. Didn't you see the death grips cover the other day?
>>
>>81442953
Sorry :(
>>
>>81442929
you should let it digest a bit more and you should think about the history of rock albums, because that is one of the dumbest takes of all time
>>
>>81443083
Have you even heard it

>>81442929
Why does Will Toledo look that way?

This album is definitely a grower just due to it's sheer length. With repeat listens I tend to appreciate certain tracks more that my favourites constantly change. Boxing Day will always stand out though as one of the best songs in his discography period.

This is probably one of the only "double" albums I can listen from beginning to end. I don't think many other bands can do such a feat. And I'm including The Beatles in that remark too. Anyone saying The White Album has no fillers is a fucking liar.
>>
>>81445150
Don't Remind Me and Just Tired are definitely top tier, but I don't agree with I Can Play the Piano.
>>
Teens of Style is one of his best next to TF 2011, deal with it

I agree

When the fuck is Wave Goodbye to The Jets coming out Will?
>>
even though i'm not a will toledo superfan his music is inspiring to me but also depresses me at the same time.
i feel like i could do something as cool as his bandcamp album projects if i wasn't so depressed and fucked up in the head. it's sortof like a marker for how successful you could be if you really tried your hardest to write good music. but something keeps me from getting there even though i want it so bad. i've written good songs before that people seem to enjoy but then i can't focus or stay happy enough to write more and come up with an album.
will if you're there pls msg me i need a friend to talk to and give me advice
>>
>>81448626
well, i'm not a friend to talk to but I'll tell you what you're doing wrong

1. depression isn't holding you back, many artists have written while depressed. it's a coping mechanism for them. maybe writing music isn't yours? Invest more time into whatever makes you feel happiest (other than guilty pleasures like sex or food) and see where your creativity takes you
2. comparing yourself to Will isn't healthy, nor is comparing yourself to anyone else. his first projects were shit, and you hopefully gained some more life experience in the free time you had. now put that to use and get going, it's never too late and you're still young
3. it's a good first step writing songs that you enjoy, and even better if others enjoy it to. however, if it's not making you happy or you're losing interest, you have two options. man the fuck up and keep pushing forward, or man the fuck up and find another way to spend your life. it's fading fast. either way man up, depression sucks but if you use it as a strength, or a tool to motivate, your possibilities are seemingly endless

last but not least,
will toledo had all the same artists you have to use for inspiration right now. so you're in the same place he was in. BUT, you have him too. so you have his entire arsenal +1, if you take anything away from this let it be that.

>car seat headrest never put out one good album, and will toledo is a 4chan shill
>>
>>81448784
a lot of this feels really truthful, especially that it's not healthy to compare yourself to other people.
but i really do think my depression is an inhibitor. when i'm in a good mood, writing music is a wonderful process i enjoy the shit out of. it makes me even more happy when i can write music.
>depression isn't holding you back. many artists have written while depressed
the fact that you would give advice and help me out is amazingly generous. that being said, i think this just came out of your ass. a lot of depressed artists (nick drake, elliott smith, jamie stewart for example) have said writing was almost impossible for them when they were at their lowest. the creativity comes out when the depression rolls away. when you're depressed even getting out of bed seems like something completely and totally unreasonable, much less write songs.
>will toledo is a 4chan shill
i mostly agree
>>
>>81449015
sidenote, i'm going to go see him live this weekend in portland, so maybe i'll get a chance to ask him myself lol who knows
>>
>>81449015
all good if you disagree, i was being completely genuine. nothing coming out of this ass my man. I'm sure you know more about that than I do if that's true about those people being hindered by their depression, but I was coming from personal experience. When I was extremely depressed after some really grimy personal shit, the only thing that got me out of bed was opening my laptop and laying down some beats and synth melodies, strumming my acoustic and singing, or going to play bass in my band. The same is true for a good handful of the people I met in college, either it was creating music or youtube videos or painting/drawing, that creativity gave them some sort of purpose. and their depression, while tough to deal with 90% of the time, really gave them motivation to beat it.

If you really do feel fulfilled writing and performing, then finding some way to motivate yourself is necessary. For the people I mentioned earlier, the positive feedback they gave each other really kept them going, and many (not all, a few didn't make it through) were able to overcome their depression and anxiety and they're living comfortable atm. I'd suggest actively trying to surround yourself with positive people, who are also creative/musically inclined. Also keep in mind, getting out of bed is literally the hardest part of the day. You'll make it too brother, godspeed son

TF > NYM > HTLT > Disjecta Membra > TF Remake > Monomania > 3 > Teens of Denial > MBIKMB > 4 > Teens of Style
>>
I'm interested in what changed between Monomania and NYM, The production got a little better between Twin Fantasy and Monomania, but there's a drastic leap in the quality (songwriting AND production) of some songs on NYM, and Will even had the inspiration/energy to make it a double album, so what happened?

I'm going to see Car Seat Headrest in Portland in two days, what am I in for?

I want to know what Will's fursona is so I can commission porn of it

Some lame Naked Giant songs, a lame rendition of Sober to Death, unemotional vocals, and only Beach Life In Death and Killer Whales being fun to sing along to

yo i've got tickets to see them in portland too anon
i'll be the naked one screaming out the name of will's fursona

I Can Play the Piano is an amazing song
>>
>I remember I was walking outside talking to you on the phone
>We were both avoiding the parties we attended alone
>And I looked up at the drunken moon
>It was round, it was grey and it looked like the moon
>And I said, “At least we’ve both got the moon”
>And you said, "I’m inside”

This part of The Gun Song destroys me every time. In college, there was this girl I liked a ton who would always make a ton of playful, snarky comments at me any time I tried to talk to her, and this is exactly like something she would say. I miss talking to her :(
