I am not sure you are ready for this thread. I am not sure i am as well. Take a seat and enjoy.

I have the chance to work in the bicycle business in taiwan, and as i do some extensive research i often find gems on the chinese side of the internet. I thought it would be a good thing to show these to my N/ fellas.

This thread is not meant to be taken in a serious way, i just list here some incredible thing chinese -actually- build in a "fuck this, we can make it, so let's make it, ok?"

So let me start : Get plagiarismer a chance.

>>1140567
>Cable routing

My guess is that they blindly copied bikes with drivetrains, didn't know what to do with the extra cable guides, and just wove it together like that.

>>1140570
Check the fake front suspension, the lack of a rear triangle, and making up for the lack of a front triangle by throwing steel steel and more steel at it.

And then top it all off, full fenders, and rack for the bling.

>>1140580
I think this is sort of the minivelo idea, but with the bigger front wheel for more rollability. That's just a wild guess. I have no idea how the thing actually handles though.

With the Indian bikes everything is just shitty. But they do make a free aluminum bikes and bikes with a clear purpose.

Chinese bikes are batshit imitations of things they don't seem to understand, but with better aesthetics. When you look past the technical disasters, theyre better with color and such. A few of these would be legitimately awesome if they weren't made out of hi ten (or worse). Tires with skulls and shit could have made someone a fixie millionaire in 2008

If you want quality eyes closed, try to buy taiwanese. They are really having a close eye on the quality of what they produce. With china it comes and go, even a manufacturer that does good product can build shit one's 3 month later...
So far, i only source titanium frames out of china which are interesting in cost/quality, the carbon market stays in taiwan and every big brand (specialized, treck, cannond, decathlon blabla...) stays in taiwan for these reason.

But at the end it is a chance for us, if chinese were to know how to make good products, euro and america would be dead in a glimpse. They search too much to make money, and never make compromise to get more into making a object people actually want or need.

This had been an amazing thread so far. I'm wondering if you could follow up with a thread on the best Taiwanese stuff that we might not have heard of. Thanks for posting these

A list of taiwanese brands would be nice.
>>

The seatposts have been fine. I doubt they're as forgiving as the expensive road dampening ones, but they're light and round

The mtb risers I bought were not round. Rotate your calipers and it changed by millimeters. I sold it to a fixie guy for $5 (originally $15?)

The carbon saddle was hilariously hard. I think I paid $25. Sold for $10. I honestly did not even install it.

Other than that, AliExpress has gotten me brand name tektro/Shimano shit that seems authentic and undamaged. Jagwire cable/housing straight from China in a plastic bag is usually the best $ for a small project. Found on eBay

I meant stronger in all manners. Carbon, when constructed properly (IE not by chinks) has a much higher fatigue life than alu.

Again, that just means it can withstand a larger force before it *SNAPS*. With metal you get a clear indication when you go past the failure point.

Alu just snaps too. Steel bends on failure point. This is why when alu and carbon parts are made, they're made to stay intact WAY beyond reasonable usage limits. At least from good manufacturers.

yeah! you are right!
It's a feast for the eye to check all what is wrong on these bikes, when it's not the saddle its the fork that is wrongward. when not the fork, the tires or the brake pads are wrong. I once had a big issue explaining to some bicycle seller that the disc brake did have a side to put them. I guess he did not understand it because the dics are again wrongwards on their catalogue.

Yo dude, if you want to go the cheapest possible, check out your nearby university. University have a shitload of bike (NTU is the biggest), and often student abandon their bike after their few year of service. Ask a maintenance dude if you can pick up an old one, a friend scored a decent hiten fixie like that. That was the cheapest way, by cheap i meant free.
If you don't find your luck then check out taiwanese's Taobao wich is called Ruten. Search Ruten then find the bicycle selling page: (on the car ) and 自行車 then click on "二手品" wich means second hand. There are often some sick deals, i scored a decent giant on it.
If still not found anything that suits you you can go on facebook copy pasta this group: "二手腳踏車專賣店" some bike geeks often sell their bike on the cheap.
and last but not least: If you are up for a beer, i am up for a beer. It's quite rare to see 4chaners in taiwan.
>>1141936
90% of the middle and high end bicycles of the world are made in taiwan, here is the best place to score good deals! I already bought a bike few years ago and sold it back in europe, it paid my plane ticket back.

Well, there are fucktons of different types of aluminium.

Your can is made to be soft, there is no need of it to be strong like a frame. It only contains a liquid. Some brande make cans of transparent PP due to this fact.

From serial 5000 - 6000 to 7000 they all have different hardness, weldability and machining ability.

The smaller the number the "softer" the aluminium is (like 5000 serial is softer then 7000)
In bicycle frame design sometimes not all the tubes are used in the same grade to get some stiffness where required and softness for comfyness. (i'm of coursenot talking of chinese frames where all the tubes are the same)
In the industry we even sometimes weld with a softer grade of aluminium apport on a frame to prevent it from cracks.

By then: aluminium can snap, but on MTB or Track frames there are big warnings to this: cracks. Check the frame before a ride and there won't be surprises.
Whereas carbon, even if you check the goddamn thing, it can snap by surprise because the cracks are way too small to be seen by the eye only.
This is my personnal experience why 2nd hand carbon frame = no thanks.

>>1142539
well anon, i think there is lots of info missing, this frame looks like lot of info are missing: no geometry, size of the frame is a no go for me.
It looks like a "polo bike" frame by the looks.
I know these tubings, they are quite heavy too.
