These Chinese yellow ofo bikes have been popping up at my uni’s campus. Should I be worried?
>>
we have these in manhattan ks and all that happens is blacks and homeless use them and leave them in the street. also crime went up since now they can move more

https://greenapplebikes.com

its so infuriating to seem them swerving around in traffic or riding them into areas they have no reason to be
>>
>>1200952
Nah. They will usually hit the nearest river, then Ofo throws new shitty bikes at the city. Untill eventually, they pull out because the river is full and the city charges them for cleaning it.
>>
>>1200955
it's a relatively upper-class area. I actually haven't seen a single homeless person here (western Denver)

>>1200957
we do have a pretty big river close by heh. The bike itself is overbuilt and heavy; 3-speed, front and rear brakes, adequately comfortable. Not exactly quality
>>
>>1200958
>West Denver
>upper class

You must mean lohi or rino, west of federal is a shitshow

>>1200961

this self policing system is pretty neat
>>

SG-3r40 hubs
man I want to steal those
>>
>>1200952
what's to stop someone just loading a bunch of these in the back of a van, drilling into those computerized locks to kill the computer/gps driving off, then parting them out?
>>
>>1201017
nothing, except they probably serialize all of the components, and would send someone to see what was going on when they noticed that multiple bikes were being disabled in a short period.

plus, the bikes only cost them $60 to build in the first place. you're not going to make much off of parting them
>>
>>1200952
so their price is 1$ for 8 or 10 km ?
how does this compare to other transport
esp as I consider that biking also consumes a bit more water and food than other ways of getting around
>>
>>1201030
$1 for an hour of biking, no other fees or whatnot
>>
our local city council is giving the ofo pilot program one year to show positive results before they give it the go-ahead for continued operations. I'm giving it like a 50/50 chance
>>
>>1201017
Nothing except that it's not worth the effort
>>
>>1201114
yeah, might as well just steal the actually valuable bikes that aren't $10 Chinese shitheaps
>>
>>1200973
It’s like the social credit system they’re developing.

Chinks truly are the future.

>>1201172

China is actually making human existence worth less and less.

there's a million of these things littering San Diego
>>
>>1201302
would rather have bikes lying around everywhere over more cars and parking lots though, right?
>>
>>1201306
no, San Diego already has cars and parking lots so you're taking one problem and adding another one instead of fixing the first problem
>>
>>1200973
Which company is this?

Anyone know what's happening to them in Singapore?
>>
>Ofo
>>
I live in the Research Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) and these fucking things are everywhere. There are three (3! 3!!!) different companies that are littering bus stops and parking lots with these fucking shitsticks. I never see anyone riding one. Never. When I see one parked somewhere, it's usually in a cluster of another 3-5 bikes. Busted-ass ones are in the ditches and abandoned lots all over town. They also conglomerate on the corners of the shittiest neighborhoods. I mean, what homeless inbred toothless fucker has a debit card with enough lettuce behind it to rent one of these fucking things? I don't get it, man.

I could see one company trying it out, and running it to failure. But when there are 3, it boggles the mind to think that this business model makes sense to anyone at all.

God I fucking hate these things. Like anyone asked for more cyclists. Fuck off.
>>

This is on Mines campus?
>>
>>1201031
How do they even afford to charge $1 per 1 hour of riding? It doesn't seem a bike share can make money in the USA at that price point.
>>
>>1204562
aye, I'm a Junior

>>1204574
don't ask me, ask the Chinese investors
>>

>These Chinese yellow ofo bikes have been popping up at my uni’s campus. Should I be worried?
Why the fuck should you even care? Are they going to steal your girl or something? FFS what's wrong with some of you faggots?
>>
>>1204574
The trick is they're losing money every months
And US$1/hour is already more expensive than their price in China, where they charge US$0.3/hour, and also offer US$3 per month service. Note that this is a standard fee that have already been increased quite a bit from their previous discount fare and attracted some dissatisfaction
>>
>>1203635

You should, it was just last year.
