Which airport has the best internal transport system?

I could give a lot of answers, since they'll all interesting and exciting in their own ways.
The most recent one I've used, and the one which I am still not over, is the CDGVAL, which connects Terminal 1, 2 and 3 with each other, as well as connecting the 2 long term car parks and the 2 rail stations, one being a TGV station with the terminals. It's also free to use (unlike OrlyVAL).

CGDVAL is probably the most comfortable airport transit system I've used though. I think there's going to be some competition with IAD, but the Mobile Lounge is probably a bit too slow for my liking.

Denver International obviously. The transportation to the Illuminati and alien places in the basement is very efficient.

CDGVAL is good but if you're using it that means you're flying from CDG. So that cancels it out.
>>

CDG is shit but at least there's stuff to do there when you're waiting for your delayed or cancelled flight, unlike orly where all you can do is buy 100€ bottles of "duty free" booze that cost $50 back home

All internal transport systems are crap.
Circular terminal designs with minimal walkways are pretty much perfect.

As much as I hate ATL for being monopolized by Delta, having shitty lounges unless you have an Amex Plat and are flying Delta, holding #1 busiest airport in the world entirely due to a huge amount of shorthaul domestic traffic, and being incredibly far from the people in Atlanta that would actually be flying, the PlaneTrain is not one of its shortcomings. It's quick, it runs on 2 minute intervals, and it will get you from one end of the massive airport to the other in under 10 minutes. No need to switch trains, the PlaneTrain stops at every terminal. The PlaneTrain is the bright spot in the sea of despair that is ATL, and I haven't seen a better internal transit system yet.

Also, this >>1244301

Richard Jewell detected. "Home to big airline", lol. Livonia was the home to one of the predecessors of what is modern Delta, that doesn't make Livonia a good place to live either. Nor is being home to the world's biggest buyer of HFCS something you want to be bragging about
>>1244427
There are actually some surprisingly non-shitty restaurants in ATL but poorfag mcgee up there probably can't afford any of them.
>>
>>1244400
> But you keep on coping with life in your overcrowded, overtaxed shithole.
So much this. I much prefer my 95 minute commute and house in the suburbs to paying more for a unserviceable transit system full of brown people.
>>
>>1244435
I genuinely can't tell if you're making fun of atlanta or defending it
>>
>>1244433
>There are actually some surprisingly non-shitty restaurants in ATL but poorfag mcgee up there probably can't afford any of them.

There's One Flew South, and IIRC the only Chic-Fil-A that still serves spicy chicken biscuits, but literally nothing other than that.

>>1244438
I think he's making fun of it. I got lucky and work out in the suburbs and live closer to the city, so I don't have to deal with traffic, but I still wish Atlanta had more than just the incredibly limited MARTA train lines and the shitty slow hodgepodge of bus services for going into town. And a second airport, because fuck Delta's monopoly and price gouging.
>>
>>1244448
Just wait.
>>
>>1244448
>>1244438
What's not to love about having the longest average commuting distance of any metro in the United States? I'd much rather drive from the OTP in my suburb living on my own acre than have to spend it with anyone else riding the Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atalanta train. There's a reason so many people are transplants to Atlanta and I'll give you a hint, it's not because we only drink sweet tea and Coke.
>>
>>1244450
It's reassuring that a master's student has better ideas in transportation planning than all of the bugmen urban planners who have run Atlanta's thriving transportation operations and infrastructure system for decades.
>>
>>1244450
I've recently been on what they've built so far for the Beltline. For such a car centric city I was a little impressed, but if this render is a real plan and not a hoax I will literally shit a brick when they actually get some of it built.
It will never get built, the money will just go to dumb boondoggles like the streetcar project. We have a better chance of getting MARTA extended to Duluth, Alpharetta, and Marietta
>>
>>1244321

Hartsfield isn't far from Atlanta. The Marta trains go to the main terminals and reach the inner edges of the suburbs. The major interstates all go by it. Plenty of easy on site and satellite parking.

The layout is fantastic. Though I haven't flown from the new international concourse yet. Good places to eat and drink in every concourse.
>>
>>1244493
I didn't say it was far from Atlanta, I said it was far from the demographic that actually flies frequently, IE all the business people that live in the northern suburbs. Interstates going near it mean nothing because 285 and 75/85 are a shitshow unless you take just the early morning flights. MARTA is better because parking is cheaper, but most people still have to take 400/85/285 to get to a station, and MARTA has its own issues with being on schedule.
>>
>>1244495
Generally speaking living near an airport is considered undesirable, it should come as little surprise the wealthiest suburbs are not close to ATL
>>
>>1244448
>the only Chic-Fil-A that still serves spicy chicken biscuits
WAT?! The local CFAs here in Central Florida have never stopped serving those.
>>
>>1244496
That's just NIMBYs being NIMBYs. They already have multiple airports in and around them. I actually live right under one of the approaches to PDK. I'd much rather have the airport closer to me and hear the jets than far from me so I could pretend to be living a quiet rural country life in a mcmansion.

>>1244558
The spicy chicken biscuit is long gone from the Atlanta area except the airport CFA, and nobody can understand why.
>>

>>
>>1244560
>That's just NIMBYs being NIMBYs.
No it's not. You're just calling a group of people you dislike NIMBYs for the sake of it. No one in Alpharetta ever protested or complained about ATL. They moved there to get away from the airport and the shitty-as-fuck south side of Atlanta so they wouldn't have to complain about it. And just because you want to hear planes taking off doesn't mean other people do, in fact most people don't because they're not autistic.

>The Marta trains go to the main terminals and reach the inner edges of the suburbs
I've been to Atlanta for work unfortunately.

The office I was visiting was directly on top of MARTA, this was pre-uber and they asked if I had already arranged a cage service. I said no I'm just going to take the train. Everyone seemed shocked and concerned that I was making a big mistake. Under other circumstances I might have listened to their worries but the previous day I heard some not-so-subtle racist comments about how happy someone was to live in a suburb that had no MARTA so I had a pretty good idea of why they were worried, I guess because I am not black and I wear a nice suit they assumed I must be a racist shithead like them. Needless to say I disregarded their advice to wait for a cage.

As expected the ride was fast and I had no problems, people from Atlanta are just stupid and have their heads stuck in the antebellum era. Fuck the south.

Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta
>>
>>1244743
That's the meme, but its only really true on the blue/green lines. Red/Gold is about 50/50 employed blacks and GSU/GT students/businessmen going to the airport/leisure travelers going to the airport.

>>1244623
I point you to any major Texas city. At least we HAVE public transportation. LA is a shithole for public transit as well.

>>1244607
I've only ever managed this at 4 AM and 10 PM. Any other time, I'm better off riding MARTA. Cheaper parking, less likely to run into a major traffic meltdown.
>>
Tampa is neat because it was the first airport to get an automated people mover system (1971). Besides the four airside/landside APMs (six originally), there is a brand-new APM that opened this year connecting the main terminal with brand-new economy parking and rental car facilities. There is also an automated monorail connecting the main terminal to the long-term parking garage. So, there are six separate APM lines in total at this airport.
>>
>>1244749
I can beat MARTA way more than it beats me. Trip from from Airport to North Springs is almost an hour. I'll take my chances on the interstate.

It's a good thing Detroit has the ExpressTram in its gigantic McNamara Terminal, because it's the second-longest airport concourse on Earth (#1 is Denver, Concurse B). There are some Negative Nancys above that frown on this type of airport design, but, then again, if you use this airport often, you'll be in the best shape of your life.

Literally none of those reasons is why somebody the average person would consider moving to Atlanta. The Olympics were over 20 years ago, Cletus.

Measuring from the Marta station to the far side of the new international concourse.

It's all one building. Given the basement level hallway and plane train.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExpressTram

>[ExpressTram] consists of two cable-driven trams that ride upon an air-cushion, similar to a hovercraft. (The same "Hovair" technology is used in the Hub Tram at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport and the Cincinnati Airport People Mover at Cincinnati International Airport).

That's messed up (I like it, though).

Can confirm. As a mid-level-manager of the central project, the underground trains are very efficient and convenient. I only wish they had a separate line for us instead of making us ride with the steeple until they reach the "end" at Concourse C. Huge pain to switch from my work clothes to civvies every time I need to get to my car.
