oh it runs just perfectly. when i bought it it was non running. tank full of rust carb clogged and points dirty. cleaned all, insured it and i had been able to drive it 500km no problems. it's a nice drive at ~18mph but can easely reach 28 tough it gets noisy then. i am currently restoring it but i have a vid of it running. i'll try to produce a webm.

If you think power stops you from learning you're doing it wrong desu.

Riding is about self development. The bike doesn't develop you, you develop the bike.
>>
>>18456923
Cc literally doesn't mean anything. There are 900cc bikes that are fine for beginners.
The real concern is finding a bike you can grow with and will last you and not give heaps of problems. A bmw scooter is like the opposite of that
>>
>>18456937

but won't it be easier to learn all the fundamentals of street riding on a lighter, more manueverable and less punishing machine. I'd rather learn to push a small bike to its limits and build up from there.
>>
>>18456954
The weight and power aren't a concern
People learn on Hayabusa
The concern is getting a quality machine that you can grow with and learn more about every time you ride
Not a plastic toy piece of shit
>>
>>18456964

why stick to some piece of shit learner bike? I see ninjas sold for the same price they're bought.
>>
>>18456970
Yeah when they are 15 years old and not crashed

And even if you don't, that piece of shit TVR """BMW""" is not going to hold any value
>>
>>18456982

so I should look for a 15 year old ninja as my first bike?
>>
>>18456990
Sure
Anything 5-25 years old with a great price that you could even drop a few times and still resell for the same price is fine
If you want something nicer then look for 5-25 years old in good condition with a good-fair price that if you drop you'll only lose a few hundred in resale
Anything newer than 5 years old you're losing money just by owning

The speedos and gas tank gauge break sometimes, stick your finger in the oil fill hole and smell it to see if its burnt.

Check your chains and sprockets, feel the brake rotor to feel if its grooved.

Once you buy it change the oil, there is also a wire mesh prefilter under the cover that houses the oil drain plug. Checking that is a good idea, just make sure you buy a replacement gasket for it.

There really arent many issues with them, the timing chain ticks on alot of them, as far as ive read the ticking is no big deal.

not him but I disagree with both those points. and also I would say that don't look for a bike that will last you a long time... look for a bike that makes the learning experience easy and fun. you are also correct with most of the points he disagreed with.
