I have a 2017 Ford Fiesta that I almost have paid off, I barely drive it since older stuff is more fun. I'll daily my DA when it's not in this condition, I need to fix a fuel leak that's haunting it and the suspension.

I don't get moved by a lot of things, but having my Integra drive straight for the first time since 2013 is gonna make me grin like a retard. Next year when the quarters get replaced I'll probably spend two days staring at it before I even touch it. It's in the worst condition it's been in - ever.

I need to put the B16A in later this summer too, so it'll go down for a weekend just to get that in there.

>Alpines in an old Honda

Plan on replacing my drivers seat with a Recaro SR3 classic down the line too opposed to an ITR Recaro.

Yeah I was riding in a rental Nissan Versa when going out to get dinner after messing with that B series and I couldn't help but compare it to my ancient Civic. A fifth gen Civic EX has more features than that thing. The D16Z6 makes almost 20 more horsepower too. Amazing that people pay $12,000 for them.

Mine felt amazing after the alignment. It's looking ugly right now but it has never driven better than it does now.

Got me motivated to do that steering rack, but I'm on swing shift right now so my schedule is absolutely fucked. 1230-2300 is a magical time.

Shit I paid 9500 for my Fiesta and the reason I bought it was the lack of features. Crank windows, a 5 speed and a headunit in a base model that doesn't look like a Windows 3.1 screen. Looking at you 10th gen Civic base model.

I rode in a Fiesta ST and I imagine stuff like the interior materials are the same. The Versa was just super hard plastic all over. Door panels, dash, etc. Plus it had the CVT and it was making funny noises at only 22,000 miles. Probably rough rental car problems.

I wouldn't mind a nice manual Fit if I get a new car. Maybe a new Civic hatch. I liked how the coupe felt minus the CVT it had in it.

I would have bought a manual fit instead, but the manuals are made in Mexico. All the CVT Fits I looked at were made in Japan at the same plant my Integra was. I'd buy one for my autism.

The Fiesta is decent in the interior department, I fucking hate hard plastic everywhere.

Last thing you need is a balljoint to yeet itself out while going hard into turns.

Yeah it's almost 100% hard plastic with that matte texture on it. Even my base model Civic CX has the soft touch material on everything. I figured that kind of material would be standard on the cheapest shitboxes.

>tfw most EGs were built in Canada

Some were built in America too, like my old EG8 sedan.
>>
>>19269668
Yes, I actually just went through this with my Prelude. It was throwing random misfire codes on multiple cylinders, and no EGR codes. Cleaning the EGR valve made it run a lot better, but I also had to clean the EGR ports before all of the codes went away. Doing the ports was actually a lot easier than I anticipated, it took under an hour.

I have a car with a carbon tub, and the exposed carbon fiber looks awesome in the interior. That stuff looks dirty because not only is it fake, it's also the cheap stuff with no gloss to it. Try looking at 5D or 6D carbon wrap.
>>
>>19270790
Not sure how anyone likes the new Mazda 3s since the entire interior is covered in the cheapest feeling plastics that are all fake carbon fiber. No gloss and fragile feeling, it makes my dad's terrian interiar look decent.
Suprised my ninth gen civics interior feels so sturdy, I'm not used to it.

For my integra I'm looking to upgrade from the stock wheels. I've heard mixed reports on if 15" or 16" wheels are better for performance. The way i see it.
15: lighter less inertia
16: can have smaller sidewall and less tire flex. Possibility of lager brakes
Thoughts?

>>
>>19271985
I'm sure you're going to get different answers to your question, but there's only one that matters.

Total wheel circumference.

Use a tire calculator and figure out what the total wheel and tire circumference will be for each setup.

The smaller one is the one you'll want to go for. It'll give you faster acceleration but a lower top speed. Since you're asking that question, it's safe to assume you aren't trying to set top speed records.

As far as the moment of inertia goes, I = mr^2 roughly for a wheel. Picking the lighter and also smaller wheel (as far as radius goes) will get you the smallest moment of inertia. AKA less resistance to motion

15 inch wheels will fit huge brakes as it is so I wouldn't really worry about it unless you are after something truly exotic

The only time it makes sense to use really large wheels is if you plan on using really wide tires (since they dont make wide small tires available over the counter) and/or plan on going very fast (top speed)

have you checked that you're getting fuel pressure? they have a 43.5 psi base pressure. do a vacuum test too. at idle the car should pull over -19mmHg for a stock healthy single cam and -22mmHg at sea level. check for fuel leaks if you don't have vauum leak. after all that check for compression. there's a few other things that can be checked but start there since I don't know the history of the car.

The best cams on a stock bottom end are Skunk2 Pro1's, but you need a new valvetrain to go with them.
>bolt on cams from JUN
The only JUN cams I know of require valvetrain upgrades.

Any of the cams actually worth getting need new springs and retainers because they have more lift. That said, cams like the Pro1s put down some pretty good numbers without much other work.

I was resetting the SRS light on my civic by shorting the yellow reset plug underneath the steering wheel and afterwards the door ajar light wouldn't go away.
This led to the lock function on my keyfob not working anymore.
I tried reseating everything I disconnected and it didn't change anything until I started pressing on random connectors and the cables that go into them and the remote worked again.
I also found some connectors leading out from the brake pedals that were cut and went nowhere, nothing seems to be malfunctioning tho, also a yellow wide plug that doesn't go anywhere.
I don't even want to know what the previous owner did.

More likely to turbo H series engines
SC route is JRSC, but those are exclusively second hand
building a H series prelude is more easily done on the Base model over type SH due to not having the ATTS unit

h22's are preferred due to closed deck

It's like I'm on /hg/ over there.

Also apparently their fit is getting an upgrade offering a i-mmd with possibly the i-dcd dct they have developed on it for Japan.
The i-mmd was used in the new insight. Apparently they are unsure whether to give the 19' single motor fit the new dct as well. This might be good news if it happens to come to the west in such a state.
The i-dcd has already been used on the fit before in Malaysia.

I'm looking at a 2000 Accord coupe on Craigslist.
The pictures look good, the owner says he's done all the maintenance, but I have one one hesitation:
it's has 380,000 miles.

In the back of my head, I have a list of things I know I need to check out on Hondas with certain number of miles, but I have no idea what to do for a car with almost 400,000 miles.
Fucking everything?
>>
>>19282828
>380,000 miles
That's really impressive for a CG, but the transmission(s) is may have gone through or what the condition of the current transmission is may be a concern, unless this thing is super cheap, look for something that wasn't known to fuck up.

If this car is a manual and runs good, go get it.

I love that you've been posting here for years. Your car has come an incredibly long way and is super nice.

In other news, I bought a 2006 Prius for 800 buxxx :) It's not a Honda, but that's ok. I needed something extremely reliable for work

That's gotta be a good feeling. My DC is in a very sorry state as well. I've been amassing parts for a B20+manual LSD swap (plus bushings, axles, steering rack, suspension, tires, the list goes on) and have almost everything. Going to be a winter project. Can't wait.

It's a 5-speed manual. He's asking $1500 for it.
He posted pictures of the interior and it's in basically perfect condition.
No stains, no rips, cushions don't look flattened, headliner not sagging...
There wasn't even visible wear on the steering wheel.

He said the clutch was recently replaced in the post, no mention of timing belt, but he did say he has records of all the maintenance done since he's owned the car.

I'm at least going to check it out.

Hey guys. What's the concensus on pic related? I have a CB7 that, unfortunately, has a vacuum leak I've yet to trace, and a minor knocking sound that isn't throwing a code.

It's taking too much time, so I need to get another car for work now. I'm looking at a budget of around $5k so I'm thinking of a Civic Hybrid of pic related gen. It's just for commuting while I work for the rest of the year to either fix my girl or go full retard with a K24Z3 next summer.
>>
>>19286766
The Civic hybrids of that gen or Honda hybrids in general of the mid 2000s are very janky cars, very abrupt start and stops, delays and thunks that make the car feel way less fun than a regular Civic.

do these things get stolen often? I know they have a factory immobilizer and the turnaround time for stolen parts is probably really bad.

>>

People still want H22s. I don't think there are enough 5th gens to know how often they get stolen (only 58k sold I think), but I'd imagine there's a good bit of risk. Get a kill switch for sure.
>>
>>19287930
Steering wheel locks are useless since they can cut the steering wheel. Get a break lock so they can't drive off with it. You can install a GPS device too. The problem is there's no real thing you can add to prevent people from removing parts, commonly tires, so to stop that you need a garage or gated parking lot with lights and cameras.

My starter went out I think.

>Works perfectly fine my whole shift, started it up at least 15 times in eight hours
>Clock out, car cooled down
>CLICK
>never get it started
>Autismo coworker gives me a push and it starts up

Based manual. Would have been fucked if it were auto.
>>
>>19288858
Wat? Sounds more like battery if a rolling start worked?
>>
>>19289502
Battery readings are strong, plus its a Odyssey dry cell battery. Most likely the copper contacts in the starter are worn out. I had the exact same problem in my Corolla. Can pick up a $25 kit to fix it right up. A rolling start just skips needing a starter to get the engine running.
>>
>>19288858
Your starter is going. If you can crawl under there and whack it with a hammer when it's doing the CLICK thing it will probably start. If you pull it out and service it by cleaning out the carbon deposits and if the brushes aren't trashed it will probably get on down the road for a good while.
>>
>>19287930
Also live in a sketchy area, and my 5th gen has these things done to it
>Disconnected key lock connecting rods for door actuator. Can't use keys/pick to open doors anymore
>Viper alarm system w/ Tilt motion
>immobilizer system
>Fuel Pump kill switch
>Manual
>Wheel Locks
If someone really wants to get it, they'll have to bring a tow truck and at that point I wouldn't even be mad
>>
>>19290069
Ended up picking up a new starter. The Mitsuba starter is apparently unserviceable. No way to open up the cylinder with the copper contacts and the plunger. $60 is not bad at all though. Would have been roughly half that price with tax if I bought the repair kit.

The carbon parts I have are for my Prelude, all Seibon stuff. I have a hood, Honda-style front lip, and Mugen-style side skirts and rear valences. Also want to pick up a Mugen-style wing, which I guess I'll get from Seibon if I decide to leave everything unpainted.

$400 CB7anon here. After a year and a half of owning it, I've been able to drive it seriously the past month or so. It's a nice smooth ride... but definitely not fun in the slightest. It's also at 244k miles, which besides basic maintenance this car is probably not worth modifying it given its condition...

But I love the car at least, it's my first car and it's still a blast to drive even if I can't DRIVE like I'm in a RACECAR

Also two quick questions: Is the clutch pedal suppose to be ON or OFF? Because I've driven a Saturn SC1 and a Eagle Talon previously (driven, not owned) and both of their clutch pedals were incredibly forgiving. But this Accord's clutch has no room for error what so ever. Is that normal or is that a problem?

Secondly, what should I be looking at when diagnosing the shifting process. If I'm at 5.5k RPM and above, no matter how hard or lightly I press the clutch pedal, it grinds going to second gear a little bit. Also first gear is sometimes hard to put it in, requiring me to release the clutch pedal and push it back in, reverse is the same.

I guess the real question is, how fucked is the transmission? Previous owner baby'd the hell out of it, so hm.

Most likely a synchro on its way out. I had a similar experience.

>buy my hatch in 2015
>find out my third gear grinds when shifting into it from second at a high RPM
>eventually does it at ALL RPM
>starts happening with fourth
>get a credit card and get a 0 mile transmission from Synchrotech

I've had that new trans for over 60k miles and it's been perfect.

Been looking for pics of my old RNR replica wheels in white and found this. I think I found some goals for the new white hatch. Minus the slammed suspension. Daily driver fitment a best.

Gotcha. Looked them up, I'll probably get a transmission from them too and pop it in, if that's the case. I was gonna rebuild it, but would rather just pay 700 and get a new(ish) transmission for the accord.
>>
>>19294816
Highly recommend it. I've done two fluid changes so far using Honda MTF and it still shifts beautifully since I got it in January 2016. They do give you a one year warranty if you send them your old transmission in the box they send you but honestly I should have kept my old one with me to learn how to work on.

What are the best side window deflectors for a 10th gen Civic sedan?

All I see are stuff held on with 3M tape. Is that stuff reliable?
>>
>>19304268
I used a pair of tape on visors and they did the job fine. I believe dealers sell OEM ones that clip on but be ready to pay big money for it.
>>
>>19304268
Most bug deflectors mount on with 3M tape and they probably see the most turbulence.
>>
>>19304111
Ex has cruise control and more ac options so no.
>>19304060
They removed the tach on the civic auto after the face lift. It just looks wrong.
I still like it more than rsx interior.
>>19304102
Civic probably won't sell for more than 3k unless it's milage is still under 100k. Ex would get you more. cm you could possibly go for more depending on demand. Used cm in my state is still 5k for around 150k miles.

Can't weigh that much can it? Also, can I get vtak to for my spare b20 somewhat cheaply?
>>
>>19304268
Never doubt good 3m tape.
>>19305469
You could try to run a rough estimate through info online but general consensus is that the 4ws won't help that much. I'd add it just for the novelty though. It probably won't change too much in terms of speed with a little weight added.

Going to go look at this car tomorrow, 120k miles and ill get it for $5600 with a brand new 3'' stainless exhaust system and a sport steering hub, or 5k for just the car. It has had a paint job couple of year ago and tightened head gasket bolts and swapped gasket, according to the owner. Anything i should think/be wary about when checking/driving it? It's a 7mgte manual
>>
>>19305909
Apparently he wanted to sell it after owning it for two weeks because the car was in such good shape, he wanted to gut and trim it into a drift car but held off. Went through inspection clean
>>

guys im trying to continue to like my 10' civic but the sluggishness and lack of acceleration really bums me out and makes it boring to drive. i barely have any oomph when merging off an exit or if i want to quickly pass around someone from a slowing halt, i hit the gas hard but it lags and i have no speed to quickly do it, its so slow. anyways, plus i want something a bit bigger to drive, i enjoy larger vehicles, more comfy to me. i enjoy driving my sisters 16' crv, perfect size, i dont want an suv, so i think that'll be a good fit for me maybe? looking at 13' crvs, most i can afford now if i sell my civic with some money saved.
>>
>>19306800
so your looking at crossovers?
whats you budget roughly?

Theres not many options when it comes to honda and crossovers, acura has more to offer granted a number of them use premium.

if you want a sedan rather than a crossover most honda/acura v6 midsize sedans are in the 7-6s 0-60mph range anymore.
crossovers, crv isnt much better than a civic in terms of speed overall however the engine has a better vtec engagement than your r18 for merging unless your footwork is good.

honda v6 will give you the "oomph" you seem to want but a k24/k20 might also be enough.

Why didn't she just sell it then pay off the loan? After that use the extra cash to buy the p.o.s.
Not sure how loans work in America but that seems dumb to me
>>
>>19307500
its a bit off looking but honda was like that throughout the 00s with their pillars. i grew indifferent to it with the 7th gen but the 8th gen coupe on the other hand i still think looks really weird on the A pillar and front end.

i wonder how it would look if i photoshoped the worst parts into one and the best part into another.
>>
>>19307552
Well here in america dealers will give you more than a private party, so people trade in old vehicles and take out a loan on a new one.

My 2WS Prelude weighed in around 2400 with a manual trans and the heaviest third gens are around 2700

The turning radius goes from 34ft for the 2WS to 31ft for the 4WS, which I would say isn't that significant. I remember saying on here years ago the only thing that I noticed when driving a 4WS third gen and fourth gen was third gen turning well at low speeds.

If anyone remembers in addition, fourth gen Prelude 4WS was junk, it lags at higher mileage.
>>
>>19308910
Didn't they change it to electronic or hydraulic with the fourth gen while third was fully mechanical? I saw a guy selling a full third gen 4ws setup and thought it was pretty neat.

Fully electronic on the fourth gen and the third gen is mechanical. I'd only keep 4WS on a third gen if it came stock and I bought it over a 2WS. It's novelty now of days, that's about it. Would hang the box up in me shop tho.

Or if it was an INX

I think I heard that from an old video as well
I think this was the vid I saw https://youtu.be/DSo6ZALWa9g
I was looking into getting some preludes as a project between me and a few friends since people sell dead ones in bulk for 3erd gen.
>Tfw can't do it because saving for better cooling in new car and one of my two friends is saving for a car or motorcycle for work
Totally agree 4th gen 4ws is junk, it's even more rare and from what I've heard it's not only delayed with high mileage it's delayed in general.
>>19309798
Yes, I believe third gen though 4th might have also.

Speaking of Preludes, I've decided to get my build started sooner than later. I'm making quite a bit of smoke now, burned something like 3 quarts in the last 1k miles. And the oil temperature sensor on top of the ATTS died. And the A/C doesn't work anymore.
