Hate to interrupt your bbc worship but I got a bike related question!

Is a concourse just a zx14 with a shaft drive? A guy at work rides one and it doesn’t look too bad for an ST. Actually better than a zx in my eyes. I commute about 75 miles a day and am looking to upgrade once my drz is paid off.

I'm rocking the new Metzler Keroo Street on the rear, and been waiting 7 weeks for the front one. Fucking metzler thought 90/90-21 was such an uncommon size they hadn't even made it when picked up my rear. (And the retailer told me this like last week).

And 140 rear wasn't even available as an option, thus I've got 150 now.

How do I adjust the suspension on my bike.
I have the preload set right and i just put all the preload and rebound dampers to stock setting. the manual is super vague about how to adjust them and there's a lot of contradictory information online
I want to start track riding and it really seems like an area that needs to be set up right to really start improving without working around suboptimal settings

Guys Ive been riding a 4 speed vespa around for a few months now, and I need to get a better bike. Ive been looking at s 1200cc bike and was wondering if I should get something smaller before I go to the big engine cruiser. I feel like I can handle it, but in the back of my head I feel like I might do better on a cheap smaller bike first
>>
>>19279644
Looks like they're Austrian
>>
>>19279683
depends what you want to get out of riding
if you wanna just start riding a cruiser and go on lazy rides you could probably jump on the cruiser and be good to go once you are familiar with its weight and controls
if you wanna get fast and more technically skilled you will probably pick up bad habits from going straight to the cruiser and the size and weight and power of it will hold you back from getting better. not saying its impossible but there are limitations to big cruisers as far as learning goes. its just about impossible to take a corner in the wrong gear etc the riding style offers no incentive to better riding form
>>
>>19279701
I want to use it to commute to work (long strait road s) and for fun. The scooter will go about 70mph but it's terrifying at that speed. I was hoping that the cruiser would be better that that speed
>>
>>19279681
>preload depending on your weight
>keep front and rear exactly the same
>keep damping and rebound the same speed
>experiment with harder and softer settings, track means you want it hard so the bike stays stable under braking and accelerating but not so hard you risk loosing tracktion on rough patches. Id suggest a setting thats just hard enough to be really uncomfortable on a shitty road.
>>
>>19279706
the cruiser will undoubtedly be better at higher speeds than a vespa. it will feel much more stable but it will be quite a bit different to handle it as far as steering and braking goes, you need to approach it like a whole new type of riding technique which applies for pretty much any proper size bike after coming from a scooter- for a total beginner you might struggle to steer it if you don't put aside your expectations of it
i think most people would be fine if they know how they actually to steer a bike.
just be careful on the corners and try to become familiar and natural with steering it efficiently at will

Big red flag, nigga wants to sell you his garbage for top dollar then he can pull the carbs and clean them and make it run right. There is no way for you to know if the " carbs need cleaned " is actually the issue making it start and run poorly.

Keep looking and as a general rule, bikes that people have modded ( bubba fucked ) are bikes to stay away from. Best chance for a good bike is stock and clean.

I'm having the time of my life holding the clutch at every red light and fumbling for neutral on my sv650. Things got slightly better when I changed the clutch lever from the tightest setting to the second tightest, but now it's just as bad. I've come to shut off the engine at red lights, then with the engine off I can shift just perfectly, and then start the engine again, making it look like I let the engine stall.

I'll do this http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54588 on sunday, but otherwise I'm at a loss. Since I can find neutral perfectly doing everything the same except for the shut off engine, I doubt the advice pertaining to the clutch cable will have any effect. The oil was changed in April Any advice?
>>
>>19280866
Almost all bikes need to be rolling a bit forward/back to get into neutral

What oil do you use? last time you changed? Are you sure it's the right oil? not synthetic when it asks for dino oil? not overfilled?
I guess get good at changing to Neutral before actually stoppping, at like 5mph.

Cable lubricated? Do you have a way of getting the rear wheel off the ground, hold the clutch in and rev it, see how much the wheel moves? (it should move slightly, but not much)
>>
>>19280841
must be a subaru meet up there
>>
>>19280866
seems like you just need to get gud
like finding nuetral should just be a very gentle nudge on the shift lever, like barely even pushing it

or just hold the clutch like most of us do
>>
>>19280880
>Almost all bikes need to be rolling a bit forward/back to get into neutral
Had this bike for 3 seasons now, never been quite this bad
>What oil do you use? last time you changed? Are you sure it's the right oil? not synthetic when it asks for dino oil? not overfilled?
Don't remember the brand offhand 10@40 like the service manual says. Not overfilled, not under.
>I guess get good at changing to Neutral before actually stopping, at like 5mph.
>>19280957
I've been riding this bike a while and I know the basic tricks, but even that is hard to do at this point. It's a little easier when rolling downhill, but in the city there's just no way.
>Cable lubricated? Do you have a way of getting the rear wheel off the ground, hold the clutch in and rev it, see how much the wheel moves? (it should move slightly, but not much)
Entire clutch cable assembly was replaced in early march, I will lube it anyway. I'll do your test.

I've trouble imagining it's in the clutch, because when I shut the engine off I manipulate the clutch in the exact same way I would otherwise. I don't change anything there but the result is different..

Don't worry, I don't put cargo between the net and tank, I just need it to go with me wherever I go if I decide to put something big in the back when I don't bring a backpack.

It makes a bit of a haze on the tank after some time but it buffs out in five minutes with microfiber.

The nigger is also extremely reliable, far more so than the BMW. Going 300.000km with just oil/filter changes is quite possible, and valve adjustments are done with ease.

They're lighter and not as bland to ride as a CBR500.

You also won't need to replace the footpegs straight away because they're not mounted as low.

Power isn't a big deal desu, take it to a go kart track if all the tracks around you are mostly straight lines.
>>
>>19282914
Thing with a CBR500R is that it weighs as much as any other bike and runs a 160 rear so you don't really get the benefit of being really nimble, it's just slow.
>>
>>19282922
why? is it sub 50cc?
does it fall apart if you try to start it?

Yeah because the NT650 was a hardcore race bike.
>>
>>19282974
It can be, it's just extremely sub optimal unless you're allowed to race them against bikes 100cc smaller.

Do motorcycle shops normally do free repair estimates?
The military base I live on had a hail storm, and the base is going to pay for damages, but I need to get an estimate done. I'm going through them because I only have liability.
>>
>>19283196
They're half a Harley engine shoved in a cheap frame and the only reason they exist is because big daddy HD forced Erik to make them.

They're so bad you could buy the pre-crushed into a cube straight from Buell themselves, and I'm not making that up.

Literally anything else would be better.

Hey I have a probably stupid question, if I have a SNELL2015 rated helmet is it rated for cycle use? I know they are impact rated, but not slide/friction rated if I'm understanding what I'm reading right.

Also I'm assuming if I get into bikes I'll never have fun with cars again.
>>
>>19283238
I literally do not understand the question
someone send help

Which bike to buy? Bandit 650 or Er6n?

I like the looks of the Er6n a lot, however the bandit has better torque and acceleration

Which will die less on me
>>
>>19283238
sorry, SNELL 2015 doesn't actually cover sliding in the event of a high speed dismount, nor does ECE. However, if I recall correctly DOT does include in one of the arcane sections of its report a stipulation that helmets must withstand slides up to 200 meters and speeds up to 140 km/h. Therefore, your safest bet is to only look at DOT cert. Hope this helps.
>>
>>19283312
DOT is obsolite these days.
>>
>>19283312
Ok, this is how I read the differences between SNELL & DOT as well. I just wanted to make sure I was clear in my understanding.
>>
>>19283294
ER6n has EFI but the Bandit is faster and sounds better imo

They should both be pretty reliable, the Bandit is a proven design and is simplistic and the Kawi just werks.

Go ride them, only you will truly know the answer.
>>
>>19283341
Ok thanks I will ride them
>>
>>19283238
Car and motorcycle helmets are different and have completely separate standards. For Snell, SA2015 is for cars and M2015 is for motorcycles..
