Where can I find a super charger MK1 MR2 at? It can be JDM or US market. I’ve finally got enough money saved for one and I can’t find one.

Whats the positive of these cars?

It looks like an ugly ass 80's car and is basically a meme. Kids think that is cool.

It's how I found this cherry monstrosity

>>

Just get a 20v mk1
It's just as fast as the supercharged version, other than having a little less torque
>>
>>19281196
But they are cool....
Not everyone can afford a Ferrari
>>
>>19282466
I would legit rather own a AW11 than a generic ferrari.
>>
>can't find one of these easiest cars to find on craigslist.

yeah I don't think you deserve one.
>>
>>19282590
I can find pleny of MR2's but none with the factory supercharger.
>>
>>19280967
Best of luck, clean '88's and '89's go for up to 8k. Get a good color.
>>

>I would legit rather own a AW11 than a generic ferrari.
Well yeah, as would almost everyone else.

The AW11 is gonna be somewhat reliable and possible to work on and not bankrupt you.
If you'd rather drive an AW11 over a Ferrari then you just have shit taste.
>>
>>19282602
Those were neat

>clutched supercharger
>fuel selector switch that pulls timing all the time when you don't want to buy premium

why the fuck do cars not have things like that anymore? you'd expect things like $5000 supercharger kits to have the electromagnetic clutch at the least.
>>
When and why did Toyota stop making fun cars?
>>
>>19281077
Wedge / 80's aesthetics and if you get an NA reliable as fuck with parts out the wazoo because its a total parts bin car of corolla, levin and celica parts.

The SC's are pretty reliable but too many bespoke parts unique to only that car. (and if you desperately want to go from 100bhp to 150bhp, dont bother with the SC, just drop in a blacktop engine)
>>
>>19284437
Probably around the turn of the mid-late 90's when the AE92 was not only faster than the AE86 in touring cars, but the hatch sold like fucking hotcakes and made toyota a gorillion dollars in whiteware hatchbacks.

They had little to no motivation to compete in the sporty-fun market. Pretty much everyone dropped it. Only mazda really stuck it out.

Toyta have been trying with the constant refreshes to the 370z line and the GT86.
>>
>>19282602
didnt get many in the USA. plus the SC really isnt worth it.

the only thing the SC really has going for it is if you really must have that deck lid. performance wise youre better off doing an engine swap with a later model engine, same BHP as the SC engine.
>>
>>19284474
I’m autistic and I want everything factory spec. I know it’ll still be slower than something shitty like a brz but I just rely enjoy driving old shitcans

They aren't, they look like poorfag Ferraris. Barely a step above Fieros.
>>
>>19285205
A MR2 looks nothing like a Ferrari
>>

MR2s and Fieros were the Poor man's Ferrari. Always have been, always will.

I know you're being a meme but pls stop
>>
>>19284474
yeah but it'll have a much peakier torque curve than the 4agze, and engine swapping isn't some trivial thing you can do in a weekend like people on here seem to think.
>>
>>19287067
non-manufacturer to non-manufacturer sure.
But swapping a blacktop into an MR2 is piss easy.

So long as you (or your friend) is not retarded, does their research and has the parts ready BEFORE the weekend you organize to do it.

blacktop swaps are well documented so there really isnt a reason to not have all the parts you are going to need sat around. You can even wireup the engine on the stand and get it to run before it goes in while still using the car.

>>
>>19284465
Blacktops don't put out 150bhp. Not even close.
>>
>>19288228
Two swaps i did dynod to 149 & 154 bhp. depends on age / condition and what not. Mine made 154 bhp when dyno'd but a friend who did the same swap only made 149.

Both engines bone stock.

The 4AGZE only made 145 bhp factory according to google, mine dyno'd at 150bhp with a HKS supercharger pulley. (but that engine had other problems, namely 250,000km on it and a questionably flat head.)

>want to buy one of these shitboxes
>they're progressively harder to find
>the newest ones are almost 30 years old so parts will go bad due to age
>they will be rusted, no doubt about it
>9 times out of 10 you're buying someone else's problems
>get stuck with a shitbox that cost you at least two 3K civics and you can't drive it until you fix everything that goes bad one after another

Unless I was one of those people who happened to find mint condition ones for cheap or was born to a wealthy upper middle class family where I could devote much more time to working on my cars than working, I will never buy an old car.
