Same thing with the new Formula E: no wing, massive diffuser, instead of the other way around.
It's to reduce drag and allow for higher to speeds, while the diffuser (and much of the bodywork) takes care of the downforce thing.

The new McLaren wheel is pretty good value, though it needs the QR adaptor to feel a similar weight to the other wheels.

That being said, the Podium series are announced in a couple of days, so it's probably worth seeing what the price point will be - if it's over what you want to spend you'll still probably be in a position to pick up a lightly used CSW et al from somebody that upgrades.

the handling is really shit, you can get sort of used to it and it's manageable if you "tune" the car to go full drift mode but it never really feels great. it's playable, serviceable, and I actually quite liked the retarded story but then you realize you're doing huge powerslides in an 8 gear honda civic that tops at around 400 kph and it just hits you that it's stupid.
if you can get it for under 10 currencies, or you happen to play on a platform there's one of the EA subs (like on xbone it's 4 euro a month, pay one month, test the game, decide afterwards), go for it you're not risking much

1.
everything got some wight added so it doesnt ping around in a retarded way
the thing with motorcycle games in general is that nobody has a motion rig and even those dont fully capture the experience so what youre looking for is something that throws up no red flags in your brain while playing
the crew lacks any sort of traction loss for the bikes but outside of that i feel like it best captures the experience. it captures the light and nimble nature of motorcycles and mimics that effortless almost natural turning you get when youre zoned in. it also gives a good feeling in regards to the ridiculous acceleration
>>
>>19418933
additionally despite the lack of traction mechanics the game is 100% fine with me braking then accelerating through the corner whereas in ride 2 unless i would drive it like a car it felt off and the ai would pass me. funnily enough if you ride like that with braking, coasting and then accelerating post apex you realize all the ai in ride ride that way but god knows id never just be coasting into every corner while adding lean irl

so basically what im saying is the numbers may not be correct but the experience is
i was playing around on the crew2 on the panigalle then went to go get gas on my bike and then came back to play and nothing felt off

you do know TC2 has a tuning menu that lets you turn the grip down to the point all vehicles drive relatively realistically, right? Even the bikes slide.

though honestly TC1 after the Wild Run update had some absolutely boss motorcycle physics and you could slide around corners very easily
>>
>>19418850
>the rest of the world
lmao if that's what you need to feel okay about playing bad games go ahead
>>

desu i havent found that the tuning menu makes too much difference to the bikes and also why would you give up the traction hax?
>>

>>
>>19418962
>Even the bikes slide.
Literally how?
Traction control and rear tire grip doesn't effect the bikes ability to slide at all, hell even with rear tire grip all the way down and traction control off the bikes launch like fucking crazy.

It's literally impossible to do anything in the tuning menu to get the back end to step out, spin up or slide during cornering.

All tuning is good for with bikes is putting all the brake bias at the front, locking up the front end and doing burnouts at 200km/h.

I still love the bikes in TC2, but they didn't change shit from the beta and bike tuning is still practically non-existent.
>>
>>19418978
well to make it handle better
>>
>>19419017
Should've switched to the PC instead, dumbo.
>>
>>19418978
Eh, TC1 had some good weight transfer - if you leaned forward the tail of the bike would get light and let you skid around. In TC2 there's less impulse on the ground when you do that so it's much harder to do the same thing. Seems like the rider doesn't lean in turns as quickly either.
The grip hax are great for rock climbing and racing the AI but I like to drive with as little grip as possible for mad skids in any car class.
>>

GT has been under par for a long time now. It's just nostalgia people have for PS2 because they played it when they were in middle school and younger. These same people actually think shit like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger and Metal Gear Solid are actually good for the same reasons.
>>
>>19419068
Yeah about. Still works but a new card is more than a console or about as much at this point. Like I said I still use it, but anything that runs on Xbox I generally play there now, plus it's much better to have that set up for irl friends when they come over to play Halo or something.

wat how

also to slide with the bikes in TC2 you gotta make the aero balance all the way forward, max grip on front tire and minimum grip on rear tire, really stiff suspension and no ABS.
It also helps to drop yourself from a helicopter at 150 MPH.
>>
>>19419144
>wat how
Turn off all the assists
Front/Rear tire grip all the way down (it'll still do it at higher grip levels, just not as well)
Brake balance at the rear
Accelerate up to like 100km/h
Lean forward
Let go of the throttle
Full brakes (regular, not hand brake)
As soon as you see the back wheel has locked up jump back on the gas whilst holding the brake still.

And voila, magic front wheel drive motorcycle.
>>
>>19419163
nice
>>
>>19419163
It seems to only work with the GPZ900, doesn't work with the Harley 883 or the Super Moto (both come to a full stop after you lock up the back wheel and jump back on the gas)
Not sure if it's bike specific, or maybe to do with my combination of parts etc
If I can figure out how i'll make a webm.
>>
>>19419187
I just did it, pretty strange. Seems more like ridiculous conservation of momentum though 'cause as soon as you turn or try to go up an incline you come to a stop.
>>
>>19419231
Rain doesn't seem to effect it either, certainly a bit weird.
Then again I imagine bike physics in most games are programmed in some pretty odd ways to begin with.
>>

bikes are a pain in the ass to simulate accurately since you have to simulate the body on them as well. I don't think I've ever played a motorcycle game that actually does it right.

The only truly difficult thing is countersteering, everything else was doable with pressure sensitive buttons. Actually countersteering might even work if you go full PHYSICS and have the bike hold itself in a turn like it's supposed to.

R2 throttle
L2 clutch
R1 front brake
L1 rear brake
LS l/r push bars
LS up/down tuck angle
RS move butt

Doesn't matter. The CSW 2.5 is the best wheel possible with belt drive technology, it outputs 8nm of torque compared to a low end direct drive wheel which might output 12nm. The logitech wheels have 2nm. Direct drive is nice but the main advantage is clipping overhead, the CSW 2.5's 8nm is probably all the torque you'll need but if it does hit that 8nm cap it will start clipping. But direct drive motors are quite a bit more expensive than the CSW 2.5 and requires a rig, if you like to mount your wheels on your desk.

1:44 for me as well, on the P1.
I think I can turn it into a 1:43 with better driving, but realistically that's the ceiling for me for the time being, until the test race on Saturday.

You should be getting better times with the Ferrari, I think it's a bit more powerful. The handling is more difficult, however.

It's generally a lot quicker, smoother and more precise than Logitech due to using a belt driven system, and also doesn't suffer from the weird quirks that are an inherent part of the dual motor system that Logitech uses. Logitech really hasn't innovated at all in years and still pretty much makes the same wheel they've been making for over a decade.
T150 and TMX are pretty weak and lacking, but still smother than Logitech, T300 and TX probably offer the best price to performance out there, and go on sale fairly often, and the TS PC Racer is similar in feeling to the previous two, except it does everything a little better.

Where are you getting two grand from? At most the CSW 2.5 will cost you 950, 550 for the base and 400 for the most expensive rims.

>The logitech wheels have 2nm.
Does this look like 2nm to you?
I mean have you tested the different wheels, or are you just repeating what you have read somewhere?
And even then the issue isn't how strong the wheels are, the biggest issue with logitech wheels is the dead zone right at the start. Getting a better wheel that doesn't have it is a good upgrade, but the whole "I need only the strongest forcefeedback you have shopkeeper" is a fucking meme.
The direct drive wheels that you buy, you only set it to 5-8% of it's total strength because it's just ridiculously too strong and the main benefit you get from those motors is they are the fastest and most accurate.

How was that force measured?

Using wheel check, with all the standard settings except 500 steps.

So, according to this a T150 can output over 4Nm? Seems doubtful, especially as it's always said to be weaker than the Logitech wheels.

why not

Yeah do you know anybody who actually has both wheels side by side and tested the feels?

If you buy the 2.5 wheelbase now, you can sell it once they release their DD wheels (if they are any good) ... or sell it and get any other DD wheel and convert the Fanatec rim to USB for cheap.

>reselling at a profit

You're not going to sell anything used at a profit, but it tends to sell pretty well used.
Most likely still cheaper than going with a low end wheel and then switching to a DD later on.

I'm not planning to sell my g27 anytime soon but at the rate they seem to be changing hands at the moment i could quite easily sell it for a profit
>>
>>19423837
I sold my G27 six or so months ago for twice what I paid for it, same with my G940 joystick setup.

It's hilarious how overrated Logitech shit is.
I guess it must be clueless people doing a quick google search for recommendations and then falling for shit like this
https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-941-000045-G27-Racing-Wheel/dp/B001NT9TK4/ref=pd_sbs_63_5/133-5473108-8166136?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B001NT9TK4&pd_rd_r=be0f37c2-85c5-11e8-a9f0-db3dc51fc8a8&pd_rd_w=jBxHt&pd_rd_wg=qu35N&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=5825442648805390339&pf_rd_r=VWK5JX1XRV1F841VQ2EC&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=VWK5JX1XRV1F841VQ2EC

people keep forgetting to add "for a $200 plastic toy" at the end of all the recommendations
>>
>>19423879
Yeah i'm not sure what it was, I mean the G27 is a super solid wheel, I certainly enjoyed it and really no complaints in all the years I had it, but why the second hand market is what it is i'm not sure.

As for the G940, fuck that thing, the throttle and rudder are great, but the whole concept of a stick that you apply force to, rather than physically move is just so shit for a lot of sims and the force feedback in that thing is so violently strong that you forever lived in fear of it tearing itself apart, it was seriously sybian tier. Every time the force feedback started to get really fired up I just found myself letting go of the whole thing out of fear of physically fighting against the force feedback so much i'd break the thing.
