The 3000GT VR-4 is the best car Mitsubish ever made.

But seriously, Mitsubishi needs a fun hoonmobile to make people remember that their brand exists.
>>
>>19427025
Mitsubishi still makes cars?
>>
>>19427027
The cheapest new car in you can buy in America.

And a mediocre but aggressively priced crossover.

they are barely staying afloat in the US as it is. The 86/BRZ has posted disappointing sales nearly every year. Building a moderately priced sports car that doesn't share a platform with anything else in their lineup is literally the last thing they should do. If they want to survive in the US, they need to build as many crossovers as they possibly can.

Also, the 3000GT looks like a mid 90s Pontiac. It's trash.
>>
>>19427025
its good but its not evo good
>>
>>19427076
>>is actually a Dodge
it's not. the stealth is a rebadged mitsubishi. it was designed and built by mitsubishi
>>
>>19427086
>If they want to survive in the US, they need to build as many crossovers as they possibly can.

Their two problems are that the gooks build better crossovers at roughly the same price point, and that Mazda has more of a reputation of fun on a budget.
>>
>>19427076
>is actually a Dodge

Retard alert

>>19427103

I personally think grand tourers are more /comfy/ than rally cars, not to downplay the Evo's autosports pedigree.
>>
>>19427110
then they need to be the "Japanese Car at Korean Prices" brand.

But, developing a new car and platform that possibly won't sell well would be the opposite of what they need.
>>
>>19427105
>>19427114
It's a Dodge Stealth, make no mistake about it. Even if it was made by mitsubishi in Japan using all JDM parts, it is still and will always be a Dodge Stealth.
>>
>>19427027
Their crossovers sell surprisingly well
>>
>>19427086
Mazda seems to have no problem hawking ND Miatas. There's a market for moderately priced sports cars.
Though granted, Miatas have a very deeply entrenched fanbase while nobody gives a crap about Mitsu.
>>
>>19427125
I expect that's what the new CEO is going to do. If they introduce a hoonmobile, it's probably going to come from an Altima or Maxima chassis.
>>
>>19427148
>Though granted, Miatas have a very deeply entrenched fanbase
this, basically. Miatas will always sell because they are Miatas. As much hype as the 86 gets, they have been disapointing, sales wise. That's why they haven't built a turbo. Toyota/Subaru aren't sure if it'll be worth the investment.

Right now in car sales, it's all crossover, all the time. It's actually a great time to buy mid-sized sedans, like the Accord. Dealers will practically pay you to take them off the lot.

>reliability

>It's a Chevy prizm, make no mistake about it. Even if it was made by Toyota in Japan using all JDM parts, it is still and will always be a Chevy prizm.
>>
>>19427188
For what it's worth though, Mazda basically pulled that market out of thin air by making the right car at the right price.
Even though the ND is a sort of return to the basics compared to the NC, it's not cheap anymore - the NA Miata and 626 cost almost the same in 1990, the ND Miata costs a good 5k over the Mazda 6 today.

Honestly I'm surprised nobody is pulling the rug out from under Mazda right now. Remember the original Miata was cobbled together on a dime out of existing parts on a small budget.

It's cool, but it still suffers from the same shit all other high strung mitsubishi's suffered from in that era.

Toyota and Subaru already did this and all it did was bring out poorfags who insisted that it should’ve been half as expensive and twice as powerful.
>>
>>19427950
>subaru did this and toyota had a me too fit and demanded a rebadge despite the shitbox drivetrain.
>>
>>19427967
However it worked out it elicited a shitfit from benchracing retards.

There’s also competition from the Miata as well as lower trim Mustangs and Camaros in the States. If the GT86/BRZ struggled, whatever Mitsubishi pumps out will end up bogged in the same mess.
>>
in asia using one of these
>>
>>19427086
They are STILL making base lancers
they could just make a new rallyart lancer and price it cheap
and maybe actually promote the rallyart trim so people know that lancers are not just Evos and base ass sedans
>>
>>19427076
other way round buddy
>>
>>19427950
Can you blame them? supped up models of econobox cars are much more powerful than the toyobaru twins

A Golf GTI is more powerful for the same money
A Focus ST is more powerful for the same money
Hell, even the mini is almost as powerful and costs less
A WRX is around the same money and is more powerful too

this there mitshibishi was the fastest JDM car in its day, but because of fast and furious the Supra stole its thunder

>on the hoist every 2nd weekend

nice bait. theres a reason Mitsbishi is a cunt hair away from pulling out of selling passenger cars in North America same as Suzuki and Isuzu did, theyre all shit

same reason you can get JDM twin turbo 3000gt/GTO here in Canada for under $3000, theyre a massive maintenance nightmare

No, the Dodge Stealth is the 3000GT.

Regardless, the Dodge Stealth was one of the best things Dodge ever had so fuck off.

I don't really like that body kit and I find the 2g eclipse to be too bulbous. The base model GT3000 suits the body style better.
I think the 1st Gen eclipse looks better.

Lancers are not produced since 2017.

>>19427214
Think again, Mitsubishi is just fine on reliability nowadays. Plus 10/100 powertrain warranty.

It's ralliart and what? Lancers are base ass sedans. Even the Evo is just a base ass sedan with a big fuck off turbo

They did. And then no one fucking bought any because the 3rd gen Eclipses were hot garbage and Mitsubishi ruined the nameplate.

I own a 94 SL, fun car even stock. It was a bit of money and work to get it driveable when I bought it used but at 23 years old it still for the most part is functioning from the factory.
