Took 4 hours to sneak up on him then I laid there in the prone for 3 hours waiting for him to show me enough of his antlers to be sure I wanted him.

Then I shot him in the throat at 94 yards.

Then I had to drag him 140 yards up a 30* hill then an additional 2 miles across somewhat level ridges to get him to the truck.

Gun laws for national forests are so damn confusing. Does anyone know Ohio's state laws for them? I plan on hiking for a few days in Wayne national forest and want top bring my Ar to plink around. Their site says you can shoot in the forest but then on the bottom of the site is says federal law prohibits firearms in there. I have my concealed handgun license so I can carry a concealed pistol, but what about the rifle?

National forests in gun friendly states usually are pretty lax, such as stay 300m from road, water or building and you can shoot. However, WMAs and things that are part of the overall land bulk can have different rules entirely.

The Massif Central is full of good hikes, and not ruined by tourists, I mostly go /out/ in the Cévennes and Haut-Languedoc, it's another world compared to the frenzy of the coast only a short drive away during summer.

I wish I could see more of the Cantal/Puy-de-Dôme and Haute-Loire though, some places there really remind me of the British Isles for instance, minus the sea

getting down to the lake was a little dangerous since it was a very steep descent, many boulders i walked on slipped and rolled down. No I'm German, I did a 40+ day solo camping trip in Sweden this summer. I walked from Mora to Östersund (took the free ferryboat across the Storsjön near Hallen). The trip was quite unorganized, the reason why i got to Bydalen was because i saw the snowy mountain tops from Klövsjö and thought it might be a fun place to explore. it was pretty cool, the most memorable things were seeing the Storsjön from the top of the mountain, using a plastic bag as a sledge to slide down the mountains and drinking lots of unfitered water from the pristine streams that run from the mountains into the Damman river. The next day i bought food at Höglekardalen and climbed a mountain called Drommen, I ate some small brown trouts I fished in a small pond on the mountain, that was pretty cool too.
it was my first camping experience, I liked it a lot and now i am planning to do a shorter trip in winter. Do you know the Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella parc near Trondheim? I am looking for a cool place to hike in January which is far north enough to see polar lights but not too far up north so that i will still have some hours of daylight to hike and set the camp.
>>
>>1118708
Hah, you crazy germans. That sounds like a fucking proper adventure, makes me want to do something similar.

Jämtland is a very popular area of Sweden for hiking, but bydalen is a bit hidden away in contrast to a lot of the popular trails and valleys, which I think is very nice. My family built a cabin along the river that leads to Dammån in the 60's, so the area has a special place in my heart.
Drommen and Höglekardalen are both very beautiful, and like you said, you cannot get clearer water than from the mountain streams.

I'm not too familiar with the area in Norway you are refering to, I've only been to Trondheim once. Perhaps some norwegian anons can help you out. Though the latitude is good for norrsken, we had a crazy show last year when we hiked in bydalsfjällen with very dramatic northern lights with clear green and pink. I only have shitty photos though,,

I did my first solo hike this march just upstream from Dammån. Pic related.

The forests of France are so lush. Family is from Alsace, I love to hike and see medieval ruins and Maginot bunkers overgrown. Super comfy to picnic in when it rains, can't wait to go back.

Lake Tahoe here, no snow yet but getting ready to get shit on. Last winter was brutal by Pac NW standards.

Straya here. It's finally getting to be summer! Got some new plants hung outside my alley window in hopes of having a nice comfy green privacy shroud when the window's open. It's depressing having a view of concrete and brick.

Top of Mt Wawayanda (colloquially know as "stairway to heaven") in NJ. Super crowded, must have passed at least 100 individuals, but this is one of the best views in this region. Hiking in tri-state area is suffering.

I wish it could be foggy during 80% of my hikes. It's so comfy
