Hi /out/, I'm a complete newfag to this board, but after researching Chris McCandless/Alex Supertramp a bit, I was thinking of doing something similar to what he did (except for eating seeds from an Alaskan Potato and dying). I'm tired of living in a big city and something like this looks like it would be an amazing experience. Should I do it?
>>1133769Duh of course you should do it. You should leave today!
>>1133776I'll probably take a few days or weeks to get prepared, as I said, I'm not a regular here and I don't hike as often.
>>1133778Nah just go you'll be fine
>>1133778Yeah dude. Don't worry about preparation too much cause you'll be fine no matter what. Just go now
>>1133805Inb4 op ends up dead
>>1133769Do you want to become a vagabond or run away and live in the woods?
>>1133805This. Thinking too hard about it would ruin the moment.
>>1133987You need to be at least 18 to post here.
>>1133996
you can still post if nobody finds out you're too young

most of this websites user base is teenagers probably
>>1133769>Newfag>Muh Chris McCandeles /Board
>>1133769at least take a map of where you'll be camping and know how to read it
Tbh honest anon I'm with these guys, just head out tomorrow morning with a few snacksA good pair of trainers such as your Nikes is a good idea too
>>1133989b-but what did he say...?
>>1134498must have been deleted, said something about being in highschool
Do it! Especially do the part where you kayak class 5 rapids with no experience. It'll be a really fun thing to do before you spend the winter in Alaska by yourself in a bus >tfw mentally ill man dies doing something stupid yet still somewhat interesting. Some jew comes along and writes a book to appeal to 20somethings who feel disconnected from society. Then another jew comes along and makes a fuckload of cash with a movie, and every little snowflake with daddy's credit card can hike 30 minutes for a picture of the magic bus to put on Instagram and their tinder profile. >then every newfag on /out/ makes a thread asking about itLurk
i hope you know basic first aid and how to forage
somebody post the copypasta
Anyone just live out in the forest all day but still go into town for supplies?
>>1135117Yeah, homeless people lmao
>>1133769great plan OP, Alaska is pretty chill this time of year, take a warm jumper and an extra mars bar just incase
>>1133769Oh look, it's the weekly societal drop out looking to pull a McCandless. At least learn how to butcher animals before wasting an entire moose REEEEE
What's wrong with Chris McCandless?
>>1138656He's a pretentious rich asshole
>>1133769yes, please kys
>>1138742>fertishizing poverty>hurt durr no skills let's live in the worst conditions ever>dies from berry poisoning because too dumb and "educated" to double check
>>1138764did u even read the story? he didn't eat berries, it was a type of seed that is normally eaten but it was infected with a type of mold
>>1138771Are you OP? If so I hope you are catching on to the jist of the replies in this thread and the sarcasm.
please do. i intend to myself soon (not to alaska though). don't listen to these fags, they just wish they could do the same, but they would rather larp here. only you are stopping yourself friend. good luck and stay safe.
>>1138789I just think his 'woah, man, like its all bullshit' attitude is just that, bullshit.
>>1138801i think your thoughts of him having a "woah, man, like its all bullshit" attitude is bullshit.. it doesn't seem like that at all. he wants to get out of the city. why would anyone want to live in one?
>>1138807Right, humans as social animals have no reason to live in a city....I obviously love the outdoors, dude. But no one is special because they get fed up with urban life
Just off yourself my dude its quicker
>>1138810not all of us are social animals.editions-hache com/essais/pdf/kaczynski2.pdf
>>1138824Whatever dude, ragequit life, ya edgelod
I live in NZ and planning on moving out to live in my van / hammock in the bush, though I will still travel to town for supplies. I get social allowance every week but make money under the table with fur and devils lettuce. I don't agree with Chris's extremist views of society but the idea of embracing nature and freedom by becoming a nature gypsy is awesome.
>>1138828what are you talking about? the outdoors is life. it is where are most human. it is the most of life you can get. you will not find greater experiences in the city.
Hey guys i just turned 19 and am homeless for 5 months. Im going to go to alasko to be like chris mcandless.I have zero camp and hiking experience.Reccomend me gear. I have a 120$ budget.
>>1133989w-what is step 5?
