Does /out/ carry an instrument with them?
>>
I bring a little traveler guitar and a Honey Tone amp canoe camping

nice getting a little electric guitar around a camp fire

I also have an old beat up acoustic that sometimes comes along instead, but it's too folksy
>>
Just mah floote.

I tried learning harmonica but it never stuck... I still have it laying around, I should get back to practicing.

I also have taken my guitar out, but it's too bulky to be doing it constantly. Considered buying a ukulele, but I'm not paying more than 20 bucks for one. Gotta wait for a sale

I made a few kalimba and take one with me as well as a jawharp & recorder. When I know there will be other muscians at the location I'll also bring my huge plastic didgeridoo and massive djembe. If all else fails, I just didge-out since it can compliment most anything.

I just bought a ukulele with the intention of bringing it camping. Now I need to learn how to play it. At least when I'm /out no one can hear me practice playing/screwing up.

What boots are those? I like em
>>
harmonica only has 20 notes, you can learn it in under a week and you can only get better the more you play it. fuck tabs and sheet music, you can play it by ear with ease once you know your way around it. coupled with the small size, affordability, availability, versatility, and often durability it is undoubtedly the best /out/ instrument you could have,
>>
>>1150803
Want to learn mandolin or banjo if I can get my hands on either. Used to play bass guitar and cello as a kid. Also technically recorder but that shit isn’t a talent

I would bring a guitar with me and play terribly when I was in the army. Easy enough to just toss into the back of an LMTV and be off. Plus I could hide contraband in it.

Acoustic guitar when I'm /innawoods/ with friends
>>
>>1150810
I was thinking of getting one from this company since theyre pretty much the only guys who sell lefty small acoustic guitars.

Are they worth it?
>>

an ocarina.
I've been tempted to bring my regular but I'm too afraid I'll break it so I just opt to bring a pendant ocarina instead.
I expect a lot of hate but IDGAF.

can't decide if I want to pick up ukelele or spanish guitar next.

wrong, although many are basically toy whistles.
>>
>>1156767
alternatively
https://www.stlocarina.com/maxpendant.html
although it'll never replace a full size ocarina, it's good for a light, easy to carry music device that wont break easily like it's bigger counterpart.
>>
>>1157345
how do you even play this? do you have child fingers?
>>
I slap an old banjo on my back. Good conversation starter on the trail.
>>
how do I get good at harmonica? They seem to be the ultimate noob instrument meant for incoherent improvisation
>>
>>1157551
Find songs that are in the right key for your harmonica, fuck around to them. Seriously. Just figure out what sounds good for a while. It doesn't have to be a song with harmonica in it.

When you start getting used to it, Google "Ronnie Shellist", he has tons of good harmonica instructional videos on YouTube that I learned off of when I was in high school 10+ years ago. When you're comfortable with basic blowing and drawing (breathing in through the harmonica), look up "cross harp" which is a way to play harmonica in a different key that its labeled for blues music, done by "bending" notes by angling your tongue a certain way.

Sure it takes some practice, but compared to other instruments, it's really really easy to sound good at harmonica.

I carry a d flat Suzuki Bluesmaster. Lightweight, doesn't take up much space, solid sound, and durable

STL's Ocarina of TIme ocarinas are one of the few affordable playable ones, i think they get beat out by Songbirds OoT replica both in form and function.
>>
Normally bring my Gibson EB3, Hovercraft head, Ampeg 8x10 cab, and Honda EU2000i generator with a few pedals
>>
>>1157345
these guys sell some really good affordable ocarina's http://www.imperialcityocarina.com/a

I got pic related for 100 bucks and it sounds great with a good range. The clay these are made of give them a very mellow warm sound
>>
>>1157358
factory work has given me a bonus to my dex.

>>1158118
My full size is the STL and I have to say it's pretty cool although a bit challenging to play.
I've never gotten to try song birds but I think mine looks better.
can't say much for sound.

>>1158168
That looks gorgeous, I hope to get skilled enough to play double, triple and quad ocarinas.
>>
>>1158118
>Songbirds OoT replica
I have this and it's shit, Better to by a cheap any other wind instrument
>>
>>1158463
You sure its a Songbird?
I think there's a lot of fakes trying to pass as a Songbird.
>>
What's a good starting harmonica?
>>
>>1158636
Just about anything from hohner.
>>
Had a jouhikko but I broke it bad. No idea where it is now. I miss it. Even when professionally played it somehow sounds beautiful and horrifically grating at the same time if played alone.

Made a 15 tab kalimba but gave it to my sister. I really like them when you tune them not to sound all dreamy.

I have a banjo and I just bought a jew's harp to fuck around with.
>>
>>1158636

Hohner Special 20/Golden Melody, Suzuki Bluesmaster are good entry points in my onion.
>>
>>1158636
Hohner Marine Band is great for beginners and is pretty much the standard for professionals.

Hohner Special 20 and Blues Harp are good too, but i prefer the sound of Marine Band.

Get a nice wood ocarina, they're a lot more durable and have a more /out/ sound.
>>
>>1158876
I might just try that once I've money to spare.
any recommendations?
>>
>>1159517
Fairy Ring Mushroom used to make some great wood ocarinas, but they closed their store a little while ago, occasionally you can find one of them for sale second hand but other than that i dont personally know of any others.
>>
If you take an ocarina /out/ in Arizona, are you required by law to play the Cosmo Canyon theme?
