>1 hour, 58 minutes, 7 seconds. The big-wall climbing stars have done it again, this time shattering the elusive two-hour mark.

>On June 6, Caldwell and Honnold climbed the 2,900-foot Nose route of El Cap faster than anyone before, and perhaps faster than any to come.

>For years, climbers have wondered if anyone could climb The Nose in less than two hours. It seemed impossible. Each record was closer to the one before it, and two hours is unfathomably fast.

nothing personal, kids
>>
damn. i figured it was close to coming since they hit 2:10 and 2:01 in the last couple weeks.
>>
>something awesomely /out/ happens

seems about right.

Climbing is dangerous and can be avoided in many circumstancss. It's anti-out as fuck to do it recreationally. It's a survival skill that you use only when you need to and you do it as cautiously as possible.

I don't have to hope for these people to die, I know they will.
>>
>>1288571
My mom's husband won't let me put a climbing wall in the basement of his house.
>>
>>1288719
>/out/ is for survialism only
fuck off
>>
>>1288736
Oh look, a little faggot that likes to look at stuff.

Good for you kid. Things like this are only appealing to people that get very little time outdoors.
>>
>>1288719
>I don't have to hope for these people to die, I know they will
So will you, you fat fuck.
Go back to /k/ or some shit since you seem highly delusional.
>>

>Alex "2 hoodies" Honnold
Guy is so sponsored he has to layer up bigly.
>>
>>1288719
Some of us like to go /out/ and do things that makes us happy.

Go post about survival oper8tings on /k/ or something
>>
>>1288719
not wrong
>>
>>1288757
Yeah go be happy, these people chase fame. You are a fool for idolizing them.
>>1288744
>you will also die
Not in some retarded ego driven accident that tears my loved ones apart
>>
>>1288157
BASED Honnold.
>>
damn, mirin hard
>>
>>1288774
You self-righteous faggots are truly disgusting and have little place on /out/ telling others how to live.
I hope you're just fishing for (you)s and that you're actually not that dense of a motherfucker.
>>
>>1288849
Brb gonna go surf a 40 foot wave full of box jellys and sharks and a razor sharp reef beneath because I want to "have fun"

And im the lunatic, at least my life is complete enough that i dont have to constantly go on suicide missions
>>
>>1288869
>nothing doing something fun because you may get hurt
Have fun going through life living inside a bubble.
>>
>>1288880
Its widely known that basically every "adventure seeker" is deeply depressed or bipolar
>>
>>1288882
And living your life in a bubble where you never can possibly get hurt is pretty fucking depressing too. I’d rather be depressed and have something to show for it rather than living my life behind a computer screen.
>>
>>1288571
That's because half of this board are out of shape poorfags. That's why bushmeme is so popular, because it's free and low energy.
>>
>>1288157
go figure Honnold would do it, the guy is a fucking beast.

holy shit you're a faggot lmfao

No. I make responsible risk assessments. I live better than you.

Why are you bashing bushanons? They have their interests, you have yours, in the end we all love the nature and the /out/ doors, I think.

Two kinds of adventure athletes. You cant pick them apart.

In a society that demands nothing but complacent families, where no one will teach you the knowledge to overthrow it, why not climb?
Why not be the best at the most pointless thing? Climbing rocks.

This is what the first climbers believed.
>>
>>1288157

3000 ft in 2 hours is insane. You'd need some crazy endurance.
>>
>>1291123
That comes out to 25 feet a minute give or take. Were they simul climbing? I can’t see no other way. Fuck anchors and all that jazz. HOW many pieces did they carry? Imagine the run outs?! Holy fuck.
>>
>>1291124
This was their entire rack

>>
>>1291124

Yeah, it was a simul-climb. I haven't gone into that game so I have no idea how it works. But 25 ft / min might not seem like much to non-climbers... but El Capitan routes are incredibly difficult big wall climbs. That's 25 ft / min of relatively tough holds or crack climbing.
>>
Here's a bit from the previous speed record, you can see just how fast these guys climb and the ridiculous runouts required to do it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG4ubEPPN7U
>>
>>1291176
simulclimbing doesn't pitch routes out, the leader places gear and the second cleans it as they both climb continuously. it's great IF both people are not going to fall.

That was really fast time

The most I climbed was 6 or 7 pitches in a few hours....maybe three or four with a few people.

There was no speed climbing involved....just a long crack for 4 pitches and some rounded bollards to the top on a face crossover

Lots to anchor....no 3600 feet of madness

They are really up there...

My newest project....tagging the climb to the vault
