Planning on going to 3 "ponds" all side by side, need advice on how to fish them they used to be gravel pits depth unknown but pretty deep i thinkwater is still coldhow to fish them?

anyone else here fall for the banjo minnow meme as a kid?
>>972353yeah, a few threads back someone brought it up waste of money, desu dont thnk i ever caught anyting on them
>>972353I don't think I did that but I remember my best friend getting one of those "As Seen On TV" packages with a shit ton of paddle tails and other soft baits.>>972342>kid>>972341I don't even know how to fish cold water anymore.
>>972353>>972355>>972356i got 3 sets of 100 banjo minnows as birthday gifts when i was 10 and couldn't catch anything with themluckily, my friends were stupid and traded me all sorts of hard lures for my worthless meme bait

>>972341Cold water fish a lot slower and target places that hold heat rocky shorelines or place that get sunlight.
>>972356even durring the sumertime i have issue catching anything out of some of the pondstheres a small one ( with a deep pocket ) that texas rigged mini lizzards do work in theres a medium one that senkos work before it weeds up then once it weeds up horny toads work ( had one 7 pounder out of there) and the large one i have trouble fishing at all, never caught anything out of it>>972360will give all these a try, the largest one drops off incredibly quickly ad theres a ledge so when you run shit like deep divers you sometimes get snagged up >>972361thats one issue with these ponds they were all gravel pits so 2 of them just drop right off with little to no shallow area at allthe third is pretty shallow overall
>>972337can anyone accurately describe how to fish a jerk bait?I can't even

>>972373th small one i have no clue pretty shallo with one deep pocket thatone is ez to fish medium size one drops off pretty quickly but weeds up totally in the sumer so it cant be that deepthe largest one is totally unknown to memy guess is it gets down to 30 ft within casting distance, maybe to 65 feet in the middlethough i could be totally wrong im going to hit all 3 of them in my kayak this summer and try to get a better feel for them>>972377jerk the rod tip slightly it will cause the lure to zig and zag like a fleeing /injured baitfish you can do it while reeling slowly or quickly or not moving it much at all
>>972382How clear is the water? You might need to go finese baits. I remember watching a show about quarry lakes and fishing them.
>>972390most of the time ive been there the water quality has been shit, the small one is pretty clear, and the medium one isnt too terrible but the large one i really want to fish is usually super murky
>>972390>>972391il try to go there sometime next week maybe, theres still a foot of snow everywhere and it makes getting to fishing spots difficult im starting to think my best bet is going to be throwing large swimbaits and other big clunky noisy things
Wouldn't it be cool with a custom /out/ lure?

>>972405I'm always disappointed with the benis lures, this one or rigged dildos. They never reverse the dong so that it might appear that the fish is giving head as opposed to ball gobbling.
>>972391Interesting, got a fish finder on you kayak?
>>972405If this existed, I would buy it.
>>972417sadly not, ive considered getting one but havent made it a priorityMy buddy has one but i dont think i could convince him to borrow it
>>972412>>972423Quick question are you located in the west coast?
>>972426Ohh ok. I bet those quarry bass eat a lot of baby trout
>>972382if you don't have a finder, get one. You'll see the depth they are at. I've got a few ponds 70ish ft deep, one has a sunken boat and once you know how deep they are you can drop jigs to that part of the water column.
>>972432see my struggle is i could easily buy a cheaper one But i know a year from now il want a nicer better one , especially since im going to be kayak fishing the sound more and morewhat do you have?

>>972502Boys Life used to have that ad in every issue. It's a 411 piece 3 complete setup kit for $12.95. I'm sure it was 3 crappy combos and a shitton of cheap chinese terminal stuff. Was probably worth about $4 back in the 70's
>>972415Do you even penis fish, kid?

>tfw finally off and heading to steinhatchee tomorrowGod damn it's been too long, I really hope this cold front hasn't fucked up the speckled trout bite at all. I've been doing nothing but buying a ton of new lures over the past couple months and I'm hyped as hell to try them out. Someone was talking about using a jig head with live bait a few threads ago so I bought a cast net and have been throwing it around. Guess I'll be trying to catch some of the fingerling mullet or tiger grubs that are always around and nose hook them with a little jig head. Are you supposed to have it heavy enough that they sink to the bottom like with plastics or to where they can still stay suspended? Hop it? Swim it?
>>972504long island sound debating buying another kayak for the sound since my freshwater kayak ( while wide) is a bit short length wise and it doesnt track too well and is unnecesarily heavy if i could find something 2 or 3 feet longer, with similar width and similar weight id be happy

>>972515>>972512Nah nah they work great. My dad had the exact type years ago and its all he ever used for surface fishing.
>>972591Yep. I looked at the Moken and the Lure 11.5 but both looked like they had the dynamics of a bathtub. Not bad for ponds but not what I'd want to paddle 10 miles in.
How do I get into memecasting for under 200?
>>972663There are tons of options. TXfag seems to like that Lew's Mach II combo ($170 I think?) and I haven't had any issues with my Mach I ($140).
>>972663C U R A D OURADO
Lizards confirmed most versatile lure >>972663You have a lot of really decent options in that price range. If it was me I wouldn't be afraid of buying the lews Mach II again. It's an all around solid rod/reel combo. Especially for jerk/crank baits, but it doesn't suck for soft plastics.
I'm thinking about going to look at what they have.
>>972691>most versatile lureReal talk, I think I've caught at least 1 of every species I've ever caught with a KVD squarebill in "sexy shad." Largemouth, smallmouth, rainbow/brown trout, bluegill/greenies/redear/pumpkinseed, channel cat, flathead, crappie, goggle-eye, chain pickerel, and a foul-hooked grass carp.
>>972714That new mirage drive is the tits man
>>972714I kinda want to get into kayak fishing but I'm afraid I'll tip over and loose all my shit.
>>972727Insure you're gear. It's really cheap to insure a kayak and fishing gear. Like 100 bucks for the year. Covers theft too. Also those hobie yaks have a lot of tie down and tackle mount spots.
>>972729That's good to know. Any yak recommendations? There was one that looked pretty fucking good at BPS for 599 or so.
>>972730If you're spending a grand or less look at old town and wilderness systems. Don't get an ascend brand yak. More money for an awesome fishing yak? Old town pdl with the accessories.Even more money for the ultimate yak? Hobie pro anglers with the 180 mirage drive.
>>972729How do Hobies work on just under white cap size waves with a full load?
>>972734The big 14 foot pro anglers are pretty good. You can lower the seat so it's flush with the floor. You're gonna get wet though. They also make kayaks that have the little side float parts and sails you can add to them. I think the pro angler can do that too.Honestly you should have a good inflatable life jacket and a water proof personal locator phone if you're on big water in a yak or you're going to die.Especially in the gulf. Storms get big for no reason.
>>972734Link to guy fucking up big time and flipping I'm the ocean. Probably didn't have his skeg dropped down for more side to side stability.https://youtu.be/NKSnRKLJpq0Link to guy showing stability.https://youtu.be/hfO4TNELmb0Having the skeg dropped down makes a big difference for side to side stability. The 14 foot one is even more stable for obvious reasons. Honestly though you just need time on the water and to get comfortable. Take a class. Go out on a warm day and flip it purposely. The kayak can be loaded to like 600 pounds safely. They are bug stable boats. With nothing in them they are like 140 pounds.
This dude absolutely slammed this lure. He also fought really hard for being a little dude, he felt like a bigger fish. Digging this Chronarch. Cast like a dream. >>972663>>972672A Curado and a no. 8 blackout from tackle warehouse would be right at $200 and would be a very very solid setup. >>972720Yeah square bills will do work. Everything that eats baitfish should in theory hit one some time. >>972727It's pretty hard to tip a yak imo. I would suggest going out and paddling around with out any gear at first, but as long as you stay out of rough water you should be alright. >>972736>and sails you can add to themKek that's awesome
Also caught one of these guys today. I forgot how fun they are. I need to set me up a crappie rod. >>972743>It's pretty hard to tip a yak imo.*in freshwater on most days
>>972744>>972743These are the sails you can add if you're tired and fat and don't want to peddle home.If you don't want the pro angler the outback and the the other fishing model that's not the outback or pro angler are faster on the water.
I'm thinking about getting this. think it be ok boss?
>>972736>>972741Going to look at these fuckers now foo shoo.
>>972746How much is it?It better be cheap to merit the drawbacks of that. I know my ass would rip it up in Arizona river and resovoirs. That or I would slam a crank bait into the side of it.If you want a cheaper yak old town, native, and wilderness systems make good yaks that are not crazy expensive.Hobie is just expensive. It sucks because they are the best for the most part. Supposedly native is coming out with a new flagship boats for fishing.Hobie also makes pic related but it's 5 grand. It's fucking awesome though. Two people peddling get this big bitch moving fast.>>972748Do it zuriss. Do it.
>>972745>Limestone>Crystal clear water>That brush90% sure that pic is from Texas. So is there a way to put the sail down for when you want to fish?
>>972757Yep. The sails just roll up on themselves. The pro angler has an h rail mount system you could clip it to if you didn't want it standing up in the boat rolled up. Or you could unlock it from the thing and stuff it in a rod holder out of the way.
>>972743Do you have one of those no.8 rods? Saw a few bad reviews mixed with the good ones. They are made by 13 fishing and rebranded I believe. They look just like the 13 fishing rods, same eyelets and parts, hook holder, etc etc
I loooove me some fresh caught fish, but it's a very rare thing for me. However I also LOVE McD's Filet o Fish, and McD's really has good tartar suace. ANybody else think th Filet o Fish is at least decent? And very good tartar sauce too, at least better than most of the store bought ones I've tried. Also, share your fish fry recipes if you don't want to talk about McDonalds.
Sorry for what may be a stupid ass question but...do you guys use rods? can they be done without, as in line fishing? I look up "line fishing" in jewtube and only see stuff related to tuna.I ask because a rod seems a bit burdensome, not as in weight, but it's a big thing, and it's also a piece of technology that is bound to fail (ie break or something). If line fishing is possible in your regular river or stream, and if anyone has good resources for learning to do it, pls share. Thanks in advance
>>972790Guilty pleasure of mine. I love the bun.

>>972745Neat>>972782I have two and I'm gonna order another one on Friday since they're on sale. They're very light and sesitive and I haven't had any problems with them. They're marked as a fast action, but I think they're more like an extra fast. Really solid for Texas rigs and jigs. I have read the reviews saying they break easily, so they may have some shoddy qc or maybe some people are just really rough with their rods. I would still recommend one based on my experiences with it. >>972796>and it's also a piece of technology that is bound to fail (ie break or something). If you buy a quality rod the only reason it'll break is because you got a lemon or you did something to make it break. It's very unlikely a rod will break from doing what it's meant to do.
>>972811caught a 14 lb bluefish on my ultralight and a 2k size reel
>>972811I got me some chart lizards and I'm excited to try them, but what are the best conditions for them?
>>972796I mean do you want to cast and actually get some distance while fishing from shore? Do you want to use lures?
>>972817Solid. I wish I would've brought my little Sedona (1000 or 1500 I can never remember) with me when I was at the coast. Would've been super fun. >>972818Stained water or cloudy days, but some times the bass will really like those wild colors. I think they get curious or mad and bite it just because. Nows a really good time to use them if you can find them on beds. Fishing shallow I like an 1/8oz weight. Any deeper and I'll step up to a 1/4 or 5/16, or a 1/2 if I'm casting into cover since I'll most likely be using a heavier rod.I prefer 4/0 hooks, but some people like 3/0 whatever makes you happy.
>>972820My idea would be something like casting in a place like a stream, where I don't really need much distance. what do you mean by "lures"? I'd be using bait ofc. I'm just wondering if it's possible to pull the fish without the mechanism that the rod provides.Sorry for the nub ass questions, I've only done this a couple times in my life (with a rod).>>972811It's not so much break by use, but that the rod itself is a very long thing and it may break with a branch or something. Also the rolling thing looks fragile, and with all the stuff that I'll probably be carrying, it may be at perilUltimately I want to know if the rod is absolutely necessary, it feels a bit unwieldy (I'll be inna and I don't hunt).
>>972829I mean yeah it's definitely possible. Get (or make) something like this http://m.tackledirect.com/challenge-50140-yo-yo-hand-reel-6-black.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw2LjGBRDYm9jj5JSxiJcBEiQAwKWACzBCbY9oeGVXbrQhsAqs-Ls7Lm4IzsGp0iXQt58k9h4aAixU8P8HAQYou could still get a two or three piece rod and keep it on your pack. an uglystik + Shimano sienna will last you a very long time. Especially if you just want to catch pan fish.
>>972839Hey, thanks. those are both good ideas. I'll see if I can find a three piece rod, else the yoyo reel should be useful.
>>972811What rod length?
>>972337So did 1cuck1reel just give up on YouTube after backing out of living with the other YouTube guys in Texas or what? The only ones I like are John B and Lunkers but I'm curious if anyone has the downlow on it?Also fluke master's channel is dying which is sad as he took in that heroin addict guy he's helping now. Probably realized he needs a younger face because like 90% of YouTube views are 12 year Olds too dumb to use ad block and they don't want to watch fluke master be 400 pounds and rub his beer belly on camera as he struggles to paddle his kayak.Am I 12 year old you ask? No unfortunately I am not.
>>972746Unless it is VERY stiff, avoid a 2-person inflateable for one person. It will probably bend like mad so you end up sitting in the bottom of a V rather than a kayak.Solid beats inflateable almost any day of the week in any parameter but naturally storage and transportation count as well. This coming from a guy contemplating buying a cheapish inflateable due to no storage or transportation options.
>>972790My maaaan I love the filet-o-fish. I get every time I'm at mc
>>972902Try adding a bunch of pickles to it. Makes it a way better sammich. More like a poboy that way.
>>972741>kayaking in australia isn't that a good way to die to a saltwater crocodile ?
>>972914Why? Would you just kayak up to the first one you saw and try petting it?It's not like you're in the Nile delta dodging hippos and crocks in Africa.People kayak around massive gators in the US south all the time. You're more likely to get jacked laying on the waters edge tapping your feet in the water. They didn't evolve eating kayaks and their occupants.
Who would buy if I began to make custom /out/ softbait?
>>972967If it's not garbage I might. I don't want some 80s Era deep v chested paddletail
>>972975What about this?
>>972980That's decent but I have a hard time going away from the keitech fat body or BPS ribbed swim baits. They run really true in the water and hold steady. The one you put up there has a lot more tail wobble usually and isn't as wide and tears easier.
>>972790Mix flour and dill seed, coat the fish, pan fry in butter
>>972967>>972980It needs to better represent this board rather than just being a lure with /out/ on it.I'm imagining a crank bait in the shape of a memecaster with a fox tail connected to its back. The lure should be designed to ONLY target bass and come in one color - chartreuse pepper.
>>972987Yeah I'm okay with that. Or a swim bait with the words "meme tactic" or meme lure or something.
>>972987So like this then?
>>973003Exactly. Call it the skid mark meme wiggler.
>>972872I have a 7' MH casting and a 6' 6" spinning. I think I'm going to the the 7' 6" MH when I order one. It says it's rated for 3/8 - 1 1/4 and I'm hoping it'll be a decent light punching rod.

>>973042>>972987>>972991>>973101>>973032I find it very hard to imagine that the product I'm making would be able to live up to all of these requests, what do you think I should do?
>>973102Oh, and don't forget to stamp "shimano" on the side or we're all gear niggers.
>>973102Just take a block of balsa and put designs and logos on it. Add both a round crank bait bill as well as the chatter bait blade thing into the front. Glue a skirt on the back and throw some trebles on it and we're ready to fish
>>973051Never even heard of FishUSA but TackleWarehouse always seems to have the shit that nobody else carries.
Hello /out/ my dad has taken me fishing countless times growing up, and I'd like to buy my own rod/reel to go on my off time to some local streams I know. We mostly fished saltwater on lure or live bait, but I'd like a rod/reel that would perform well in fresh and salwater. I am still learning so I don't plan on buying anything top of the line because I may fuck it up. So in your opinion what the best bang for your buck reel/rod for $100-150? Thank you for any information. Pic related is my aquarium, they are too all to fish.
>>972790I butterfly my catch and tempura batter them. Pretty good as a sandwich or with fries. The filet O fish is a guilty pleasure when coupons around I'd order 2 for 5$.
>>972991Needs an engrish name likePROJECTO MEMERO BATTLERU R SHIMANO
>>972980But seriously guys would you buy anything like this? of course with something relevant to /out/ on it. if there's just 5 anons or more willing to buy, I will begin to produce it
>>973196What're they silver fish with red? They're pretty. >>973208I'd buy one if it wasn't too expensive.
>>972744I bought an ultralight a few weeks ago just for catching crappie. Its one of the more addictive fish to catch.I should have got a longer rod though. 5' is a pain to cast and I get very little distance.
>>973222What's too epensive? Just to get an idea.
>>972790If you live in the Midwest Culver's has walleye filets and walleye sandwiches for a few months every year and you bet I'm getting some of that. When my friend told me I didn't believe him. He was like, "I'm going to get some walleye from Culvers" and I was like, "No way they have fucking walleye at Culvers"Lo and behold there was walleye at Culvers and it was good.
>>973191Bepsi let's meet up and teach me how to fish for bass
>>973223Yeah I kinda regret my 5' rod. It wasn't so much distance as accuracy for me. I couldn't cast where I wanted to save my life. >>973228Probably around $5 at most for a couple of soft plastics and around $10 at most for a hard bait. Of course it depends on how they look.
>>973196Go to the store and get a 6'6 or 7' medium-heavy spinning combo. Which ever one feels nicest in your hands and looks the best to you. If you have to order online you can't really go wrong with any of the big names in that price range.
>>973230Man I miss Culver's. Those butter burgers and cheese curds. Plus crinkle cut fries. There isn't nearly as much good food down here.>>973232Tomorrow
>>973208Isn't there a mold like this for soft plastics? To make even more a meme bait add garlic coffee flavor. It'll be a good jig trailer for fluke tho
>>973003I showed this to a bass and he stole my phone to show his buddies. They just started laughing so I scooped them up with a net. 10/10 would fish with again.
>>973254Pepsi and Doritos flavor.
>>973259Cool ranch or nacho cheese?I like habenero when it was a thing
>>973267The purple one is good Spicy sweet chilli I think it is
>>973222Those are white cloud mountain minnows>>973247Are there different types of reels? My dad has some that are flat and use a button to release the string, and others where you have to flip this metal peice over the string, seemed more difficult. Do you have to regularly clean out the reel?
>>973270Mah nigga, you tried the dynmita chips? Really good stuffed into a chicken cutlet sandwich
>>973276Nah but I will eventually
>>973276>>973283The chili lime on may be good I tend to like that flavor
>>973271You want the one with the metal piece. Watch some videos if you're not entirely sure how to use it, they're very easy. You may have to clean your reel eventually but as long as you keep it somewhat clean you shouldn't have to worry about that for a long time. Just focus on fishing and learning to cast. Read about the fish in your area and the best baits for catching them.
>>973271Also learn how to tie some knots if you don't know already. Sooner you learn them the better. I recommend learning the palomar knot and the improved clinch knot, that should be all you need for tying on lures.
>>973290Why do you prefer the reel with the metal peice to the button ones? Pic related is the type I'm talking about
>>973250I work tomorrow, I got some time today, hopefully before the sunsets. Stuck at the stealer ship.
>>973294OK I will look these up
>>973295It depends whether you're talking about spincasting or baitcasting reels, they both have a button. What you posted there is a spinning reel. Spincast is an outdated design, its simple but you're not going to see anybody but children and old guys using them. They don't cast far or accurately and some have obsolete drag systems.Baitcasting is accurate and used by many professional anglers but is difficult to use and will jam up if you don't know what you're doing. A spinning reel is a nice medium, it will cast accurately and is easy to use. The majority of beginner fishermen will be using spinning tackle. That's the very basics. If you want to know the how or why read here: http://fishingnoob.com/25/fishing-equipment-primer-the-reel/
>>973304Thank you anon this seems helpful. Are there any ways you can tell if a fish you catch is healthy to eat? Or do you need to do research on the water source you get it from
>>973306I don't eat fish very often so I'm not the best person to ask but generally if the water seems decently clean and you're not very close to some powerplant or waste dump any fish you catch should be okay to eat. Read up on laws though some fish have size limits to keep and others you can't keep at all, but that depends on your area.
>>973308Shit, I forgot you said you would fish salt water. I know nothing about saltwater fish or fishing. But anything you get out of the stream should be fine.
>>973306Normally the DEC would tell you on the fishing regulations book. A lot of fish is good to eat when you cook them asap. Also you could see if a fish is sick by looking at scales, fins and their slime coat. Blotchy red spots are sign of a bacterial infection
>>973290Well if he's fishing salt he'll probably want to wash it off after his trips. >>973306The website of your states fish and game department will let you know if there's any advisories about eating fish from certain bodies of water.

I also just purchased my license online, but I don't know If it will come with that handbook...
>>973295i prefer the metal piece.
>>973325Yeah I'm in the Fort Worth area though. http://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/fishing/general-rules-regulations/fish-consumption-bans-and-advisoriesIf you eat a fish from these areas everyonce in awhile you aren't going to die or anything, but I wouldn't suggest doing it for every meal. But once or twice a year will probably be fine.

I know I've seen a couple people say something about the No.8 Blackout rod. They have them on TW for $55. Is that a good price for them and how do like it? I'll be using it for inshore if I get it
>>973380I would compare them to Abu vendetta rods. They competed originally with them at the 79.99 price point. They seem to be on the faster side of a fast action.
Anybody use the 13 fishing inception? Seems like all the reviews are outstanding, which makes me pretty skeptical.
>>973368Good question. I honestly don't know. It could be something to do with all the offshore drilling/oil refineries maybe?>>973380Do it.
Its still not spring yet
>>973416Sure feels like it >>973393I have a 13 fishing reel and I really like it

I have over 300 confirmed fly casts. Prepare to be wind knotted, maggot. You will remember this day as the last day of your life you even considered fly fishing. I will out fly fish you with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? What would you guys recommend for a cheaper spinning reel in the 15-20lb test range? >$50 would be optimal I like the shimano siennas, but they dont make them that big Im going to use it for catfishing, and i would prefer if it was on amazon
>>973535Can you find a Pflueger in that size? Presidents are $60 and lots of people like the Trions for $40.Otherwise I'm still a fan of those $30 Okuma Stratus V reels from Dick's. Also if you look around at Dick's, they were selling these Daiwa Excelcer reels for like $45 (I think they retailed $90 full price) but they only had them in 4000-4500 sizes which would be perfect for you.
>>973535they make a 4k sienna
>>973196Penn Battle II combo. 2000-2500 if you're going after really light salt stuff.Go to a 4000 series if you're going after bigger stuff in salt but it's going to suck for freshies. It will be overkill.I use one of my 2500s (not a battle) in salt all the time but haven't nailed a biggun on it
>>973541wouldn't appear so, biggest they got only holds slightly more than the biggest sienna. Didn't see any okuma stratus.Looking at a daiwa opus, though anyone ever tried one?Seems like amazon has a sorta limited selection but i already have prime so its just nice when i can get shit from there.>>973554the 4k sienna holds 160 yards of 12 pound mono. I was hoping to spool the new reel with 15lb and maybe 20lb if i find 15 too light.
>>973336You need to add string goes around here for the bail and turn this for the handle.Overall perfect 5/7
>>973505whats the difference between a $70 rod and a $120 rod?someone educate me
>>973576>>973585This a good bit, but sometimes you're paying just to be a gear fag
>>973576It depends on who makes it and the specific model of rod but generally it'll be one or more of the following; lighter, more sensitive, have better guides, possibly more guides, the guides will be placed better, a better finish, better reel seat, or better materials. Also, the higher end rods tend to be more technique specific. Or you're just paying for the name. None of those things I listed are a huge improvement from a $70 to $120 rod. They'll feel pretty close to the same, again, depending on manufacturer/rod model.
>>973009good name anon
R8 my catch of the day. Caught it on a fly rod in a cow pond, on a little green popper. Caught, processed, and cooked in under an hour. Gotta love the fresh stuff.
>>973685Nice one. Sounds tasty. I've been thinking of getting a little propane stove w/ tiny pan and cutting board to do catch n cooks in the woods. Here's my best one from today. Let her go.

>>973697Isn't that a walleye?
>>973697Better to be eating a dink here or there than a good bass. A youtuber I sometimes watch caught a 7 or 8 not long ago and some retards in another boat wanted him to give it to them.
>>973704Link? Sounds funny
>>973685Nice what did you cock it with?
>>973745Really simple: one part corn meal, two parts flour, a good pinch of salt, a good pinch of pepper, then pan fried in butter until fork tender. serve, and add a squeeze of lemon. That works with pretty much any freshwater fish.
>>973745His penis obviously
>>9728901rod could upload every month and I'd still watch him. Anyone from Slovenia here? Was wondering if anyone knows wild fishing spots around the country? Sport fishing here is so expensive and I dislike fishing with others
>>973704Kek whatever happened to that one anon Pepsi taught how to fish? Did she died?
>>973877The trap? He/she is still around. Just wait, it will reply to this post all pissed off. She's in school and works n shit tho so I don't think she has been out since last summer. Which sucks because that is probably the worst time to fish around here.
>>973869I bet there are less fish than women who are prostitutes there so probably not mate. Move to the US.
>>973879You taught a tranny to fish? Dude wut. Tell the story. I'm not in on the memes.
>>973884Hahahaha. Sorry Slovenia friend. Honestly having a bunch of whorls around doesn't sound bad. Why don't you open a porn site and sell ad space to buy fishing g equipment?
>>973881She's not actually a tranny. Pepsi just enjoys triggering her, and it works 99% of the time.
>>973899One time when I was fishin with her I told her she needs to shave her upper lip when she gets home and she got so pissed.
>>973932Kek. Poor Miami anon.

>>973946If Skid lost 100lbs and got a dark tan, maybe. I don't recall ever seeing a furry tail tho.
So lemme get this straight. All fishing tackle and gear worldwide is labeled to potentially contain lead, even if they definitely don't, because the state of California says so?
>>973566That reel looks great, but reviews say online that the pole it comes with is pretty stiff, should i be worried?
>>973959They wouldn't be able to sell them in California if they didn't mark them, so they'd lose a bunch of money.
>>973964I guess it's cheaper slap a warning on then to get an unleaded certification, but the fact that a single state has that kind of global sway is baffling to me.
>>973966It has to do with a major federal court case won because the government was literally lying
>>973966>but the fact that a single state has that kind of global sway is baffling to me.I agree, but it kind of makes sense I guess since so many people live there. It would be interesting to see if tackle companies would do the same thing for a smaller state.
>>973971It's because of the legal case. If the case was brought to court in Wyoming the results would have been the same and the tags ephod say Wyoming.
Fishing with Lawson Lindsey and Landshark fishing are the best youtube channel, 1rod1reel can be entertaining sometimes. The googan squad is pure shit.
>>972337I've a question on rod repair. Would it be appropriate here or should I start my own thread?
>>973980It had top do work prop 65 passed by the state. It had to do with drinking water and ended up covering all products people have a chance to injest and cause cancer. If you crushed up fishing lures and ate them you could get cancer. The government actively covered up poison in the drinking water from local industry and mines. You should be happy is a law.
>>974005Typos my bad I'm in class
>>973960It's fairly stiff which is why I say it's overkill for fresh BUT if you only have one it's the way to go.Personally I'd say get 2, a okuma stratus V 1500 or 2500 ($30 on sale at Dicks) with a 6'6 rod for fresh and the battle 3k or 4k for salt depending on the size of fish you're expecting. That would run you about 150 + whatever the 6'6 rod went for, 20-40 probably. Over your budget but you'll be happier. You can also replace the battle rod down the road. 95% of the cost of the combo is the reel.
>>973952so miami anon was 200 lbs? shit fatter then i thought
>>974031True I may get the combo and just get a other rod later, thanks!
>>974045What is that a meat ball?
>>973336The spool doesn't spin tho, the bail does
>>974086Looks like it's something that breaks apart in water, hook with bait on inside. Catfish/carp eat it
>>974005So it's required to be on products for sale in the whole US not just California?
>>974088The spoil spins when a fish is on. The reel should have adjustable drag too
Is the baby brush hog a good lure?
>>974117I just bought an "international" variant Shimono Nasci, documentation is in 12 different languages, box is in Japanese, still has a state of California lead warning on the bottom.
>>974125Ah okay>>974148Well yeah they probably have a big market in California, so even if it was only required for the state of California, it's probably cheaper to put it on all of them rather than just the ones going to Cali.
>>974136Yes but other creature baits are better imo
>>974121shit thats right.maybe something to do with me never hooking into a non-panfish
>>973994Shit opinion. Half of LL fishing videos are just him talking about what he's fishing for or caught with terrible audio. He doubled down on terrible by jocking the googans style of adding b-roll with drone footage in his vids. 1rod is super hit or miss. Could do without Peric or Flair but Jon B. and Lunkers a best.
Tried out the new combos todayIt's simply baffling to me that people in the current year are still using fishing reels not made by Shimano™
>buy a gx2>Has a rebate for a free-ish dry bag>"Cool I'll fill out the form-">needs a check or money order transfer to cover shippingSeem's risky, should I do it?
>>974250I agree. Jon B. and Lunkers a best. Does anyone know of any good fishing podcast? I like Bass Edge and Hook and Arrow (LFG and one of his friends), but I haven't found many other good ones.
>>973863He's not wrong. 1rod is a lot better than Jon 'daddy pays for everything' B and Lunkers 'i have PTSD' TV
>>974280If you don't mind watching a non-bass fishing podcast, then I'd recommend Andy's Fishing but he does have videos of bass fishing
>>974299Lol this is true. I'm so sick of those fags. Been watching all of them for over a year and it's so washed and the same shit over and over. Atleast 1rod expresses a degree of autism that I can connect with and enjoy.
>>974278You should go exchange the GX2 for something else. And nah, if you give them a check for shipping, you will get the thing. Might take like 6mos but if they cash the check, you will get your shitty dry bag that pairs with your shitty combo.
>>974305Yep. I used to like Jon because he lived 10 minutes away from me and I could steal all of his spots but now he lives in Texas so I could give less of a fuck. I just like Mike. He's a nice dude, doesn't come off as a douche like the other two. He and the Philly Fishing guy are both really cool and funny. Catfish and Carp is the only fishing youtube channel I truly enjoy anyway. For several reasons:>His videos are informative.>He's not a fucking teenager>Cute kids. >Has a real job, youtube is not his main source of income.
>>974299>daddy pays for everything Lol. All of them are making a retarded amount of money from YouTube and their sponsors. If you believe them when they say they don't make that much you're an idiot. Is there a reason why longer rods have a foamless section of the handle rear of the reel seat? I know you're primary hand is all teh way up on the seat and the tip is foamed so you feel the pull on your forearm but it doesn't dig in...Was thinking of wrapping some yarn I have laying around on it, give a bit of a warmer grip that's better in the wet.
>>974349I don't know the reason but I do know that I don't like it. Full cork grip all day.
>>974349No idea but now that you mention it I only ever see cork all the way down, not foam. I thought maybe it was to save weight or be more ergonomic in some way
>>974341I can personally attest that Peric's parents have $$$ based on the high school he went to. I mean there were a few broke asses like me who got in and somebody else paid, but that's not the 99%.
>>974341A Shimano curado and go pro hero are now TOP TIER GEAR for fishermen.Guess iphones are top tier phones as well. Perics 20 year old boat they used must be top tier gear too. It's sad how jealous you are.

>>974355Ugly Stiks do foam all the way down nigger
>>974359It's sad we are talking about people instead of fish
>>974363Better prove some more points there 1 rod 1 inch
>>974362Well TIL. On another note: if I've got my crank bait stuck in a submerged log and want to rip it out how worried should I be about breaking my rod? And if I get a lure retriever will it work or will I look like more of an idiot?
>>974361Cork dry rots. I purposely find nicer rods that don't have it. The main reason I won't buy G Loomis is the cork.Cork holds moisture and smells like shit if it gets fish guts on it and cracks and shit. I prefer the hard closed cell foam not the cheap squishy stuff like on ugly sticks.
>>974366I heard those lure retrievers work. But if you are trying to use some force to rip it free (especially with braid), just pull some line out, set the rod on the ground behind you, wrap a wrag over your hand then put the line around that, and pull. I broke a rod like that being stupid trying to break the line after a lure got snagged.
>>974359Not jealous at all. I have a bass boatI have a curadoI have a go proLike you said that isn't top tier gear. They had far better stuff then that. You still didn't comment on who payed for them to travel around lake to lake paying entry fees, fishing license for each state, gear, hotel rooms, gas, food, etc..
>>974330t. Goes fishing once a week>>974341High school tournaments cost like $75 max to do lmao >>974349It looks and blanances better for some rods >>974366Pop your line homie.
>>974374WHOA WHOA SIR 75 DOLLARS AND 100 BUCKS IN GAS? Watch out man. That's top tier spending. No one can afford that. That guy can't afford that and he even owns the same things they do. I would never buy my son fishing gear or help him get stuff to launch his career. Crazy.
>>974374I wasn't talking about highschool tornoument but ok then
>>974366Try some back-reeling first, if it's a lipped crankbait it may just float back up after a bit with the tension gone, otherwise >>974371 if you feel alright with 6 steel hooks potentially flying at your face. I was fortunate enough to learn that lesson with a shitty tiny pencil lure designed for bluegill.
>>974379Yes you were. You said when they first started to make a bunch of money from YouTube and they we're in high school then.As I said. Key west kayak fishing has 25 thousand subscribers and fucking makes a grand a month from like 4 thousand views per video or so for that month combined. Not 1 grand each video obviously. He gets like that many views average and makes like 900 to 1100 dollars extra from it. You're talking about a time when John B and 1 rod (who also lives in a very nice home with his parents and is even older by like 4 years) has 100k subscribers or so. They were easily making 2 grand a month.
>>974384Yeah.... they were in high school, fishing armature tournaments. You dont go state to state for a high school team
>>974392>>974384Peric's high school didn't have a fishing team. That's not lacrosse.>>974380You're much more likely to send the hooks flying if you dislodge it by whipping the rod instead of using your hands. At least I hope that's what you are saying.
>>974392You can't fish in tournaments for adults if you're underage lol. You do go state to state for that. It's just like when a sports team travels to play rival schools.
>>974398K, what ever you say bud.Not sure why you're so fervently trying to prove why some youtube fag isnt sponsored by mommy and daddy when they clearly are. If it makes you sleep better at night then more too you I guess lol.
>>974400Would love to be your kid lol. Enjoy your kids being gear niggers.
Pepsi, what are your favorite bass lure colors? What works the best in florida?
Read stickies, but not entirely helpful with selecting lures/ or picking bait for different fish, and size. Want to go to some local lakes/ ponds, go for trout bluegill maybe bass maybe catfish. I have some inherited tackle, and stuff from a kid I messed around with with glitter and glue.
>>974404Gold for hard baits probably and junebug or something else on the darker end of natural looking for soft baits. But then some days chartruese outfishes everything.Fresh bread in the oven
New here, new to hobby. WHy are there more models of poles and reels than their are species of fucking fish to catch?Seriously, went to Bass Pro, Big 5, and still don't know what to fucking buy to catch a stinking trout. Yeah yeah you'll say the Hello kitty $19.99 Full Combo Kit will catch it, so will the $199 helium filled pole & Shimano gold reels so what the fuck. What's with the love/ hate for ugly Stik?
