Hired a photographer to shoot an event and the photographer delivered shitty pictures but still wanted to get paid.

pic related.
>>
as said, event photographers are literal bottom of the barrel tier. you shouldnt pay him, hes shit and delivered shit.

That grotesque font they used in their watermark should have been the first clue that they were worthless. It's your fault for even hiring them.

What I have to ask is.
Was this a Craigslist shooter, that you wanted to do the gig for cheap?
Did you look at their portfolio if they had one?

What do you guys think about this portfolio?

riojastudie dot jimdo dot com
>>
>>3055876
From a technical standpoint his shots are fine, he seems to lack any real artistic vision though, and there's a few portfolio and graphic design rules I think he should reflect on.

The main one that comes to mind is the whole 'less is more thing'
>>
>>3055876

He's got quite a few really good shots (I really dig that last boudoir photo) mixed in with a lot of mediocre photos. His landscapes portfolio is especially messy. Most of those photos would be considered street photography and/or urban landscapes. Also sports isn't his strong suite, either, but he does have some decent shots there as well.

If he'd delete all the crap, his site would be so much better.
>>
>>3052779

Did someone actually pay money for this photo?

Is it *this* easy to make money as a photographer?
>>
>>3055932

as far as getting paid goes, networking, marketing and footwork are more important than actually being able to take good photos
>>
>>3055773
The context makes no sense though. Maybe if it was at night you'd get more of that ~jazz for your soul~ feel, but I doubt the guy could even get a passable shot at night.

At first I kinda felt bad for the guy - I've had gigs (mostly unpaid/voluntary) where /everything had gone wrong, especially with the grain and slow shutter speed to try and cope, but wew.

Feel bad for people investing their time and money in him - clearly it's not a learning experience for him because he's branding it 'professional' and showing it off. Maybe if he was acknowledging it's not great and doing more stuff to learn I'd have more sympathy.

(I'll attached a collage of some pics from a recent job I feel I cocked up on, because why not.)

This is the funniest thread I've seen on /p/. Seriously, this lad needs to be tarred and feathered, he is monstrously bad.

Ah, yes the land of people with identity careers.
Leftist cucks pursuing careers that are hip and trendy despite having no skill of the trade.
Later at the Club Deviant they'll tell all the horny roasties about what a trendy photographer they are in a poor effort to hide the fact that they are a nu-male beta cucks.

Man, do I hate Sweden...

I've been photographing for a few weeks now and I still haven't even added any pictures to the Instagram account that I created for this hobby for fear of my shitty beginner snapshots ruining my future shots.
How the fuck is this guy daring enough to put a giant watermark and his website address on these photos?
>>
>>3062186

Because he lives in the real world and not 4chan beta land.

i.e. he is a normal, rational person. You are insecure and a loser.

this

And here I was thinking that my photos were bad, but man this is some kind of next level shit.

>No photographer is better than their worst photo in a set.
Actually a photographer is no better than their best photo, right?
>>
>>3063651
Their worst photo is the indication of what they tolerate. Photographers take an endless stream of shitty pictures, but would only share the work they feel is worth sharing. If they are willing to share shit, they feel okay that their work would be judged as shit.
>>
>>3063726
I see what you mean now. I thought you meant the worst picture of their taken pictures, not their shared pictures. But yeah, I agree with you.
>>
>>3060994
he wanted 200 sek/pic which is around 24 dollars/picture.
>>
>>3064546
I wouldnt have paid 24 dollars for this picuture but apparently there are people who are willing to do that.
>>
>>3057892
there is a even worse picture of that picture..
>>
>>3052181
i don't get why you aren't paying him double
>>
>>3052181
>hire someone for their advertised service
>they deliver a product with the same quality than what they are advertising
>throw a tantrum and refuse to pay
As bad as the pictures may be you are being a little cunt.
>>
>>3055605
What lens did you use for this? A 16-35mm 2.8? I shot an event in poor lighting with a 18-140mm 3.5-5.6 today and I hate how it turned out so I'm considering getting a 24-105mm 2.8 for future use
>>
>>3059979
Some problems with your exposure.

>>3064549
this is art man. people apparently pay him to insult them.

Thanks man! :)

His camera.

>>3064808
He claims to have "high-quality photos and a professional approach". This is a lie.
>>
Oh dear god he's using a 7D.
>>
>>3064990
7D Mark II. Pretty nice camera but too bad he cant use it.
>>

ACTCHUALLY

The straight definition for a professional is to "profess" if he does anything else than talking he is not a professional. If people reach him for a particular product, then he is not professing, he is creating, manufacturing, etc. Of course professionalism is associated to some traits, that you might have even if you are not a professional. Like responsibility for example.

Now if we go for the meme definition of professional (earning money for your job) he isnt a professional anyways, since it needs 50% of your monthly income to come from photographs to be called semipro and at least 75% to be a pro.

And trust me, this guys works at a factory or some shitty job, scamming retards like OP is a hobby.
>>
>>3056878
At first glance I thought he took a photo of a car with a flat.
>>
>>3062186
You can always delete that old shit. Its what I do. Once I progress I delete the older the shit. Perfect crime.
