not him but CCD had a slightly different colour, contrast, and noise rendering, skin tones were often a little nicer at the expense of a usable ISO over 400.

people confuse CCD noise with a film like look because a lot of scanners used CCD sensors
>>

CCD is better quality
>>
>>3167194
ccd has better quality than cmos, only reason cmos caught on was because its more cost effective for manufacturers to produce than a ccd sensor

I fucking love this camera. I don't have the money to get actual good M mount lenses and I have been stuck with a f/1.1 Chinese lens but damn the camera itself is so fun to use. It feels like a breeze after sticking with huge Mamiya TLRs and retarded modern compacts like RX100III - not saying they are bad cameras, they are just not as enjoyable as a 2004 6.1 megapickels meme camera. I really wish there is a full frame version or an APS-C M mount lenses line.

I want an R-D1 so fucking bad
>>
>>3167543
Can you clarify what exactly you mean by this? Like, what are you seeing in CCD water pictures that you don't see in CMOS water pictures and vice versa? I've taken a lot of pictures of the water on both types of cameras and have never noticed any obvious difference...

This camera is what I'm talking about when I call digital Leicas fat. Look at it: scarcely larger than a Bessa R2, but it's still got a battery in there somewhere; and the R2 is smaller than a film Leica!
>>
>>3168169
but digital Leicas are fat, I have never head anyone dispute that, but the m10 has been working on her figure and is looking hot
>>
>>3168115
no you dont

t. print shop worker
>>
>>3168179

I want an M10.

But everytime I look at the price I think, "I could buy a half a dozen film leicas instead."

And I end up not buying one.
>>

>>3168179
but M9 has CCD sensor
>>
>>3168362

>>
>>3167194
>Leica have proved the format is viable

Leica didn't prove shit, they're making boutique products that people buy for the brand name and history.
And the only thing mirrorless digishits proved is that no one except nostalgiafags cares about rangefinder focusing.
>>
>>3167206
I find it hilarious that people fap to MUH CCD COLORS in Leicas, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone interested in, say, early lolympus DSLRs, even though they used the same kind of Kodak FFT CCDs.
>>
but ccd is digital.
t. electric engineer
>>
>>3169151
Rangefinder focusing of the camera lens is fine in exactly one place: mirrorless film cameras. This is because it allows use of interchangeable non-retrofocus wide angle lenses without relying on a feedbackless, previewless viewfinder autofocus system, or some such bullshit. 35mm, 120, LF -- all valid. On digital mirrorless though, just using the fucking sensor is well good enough; Fuji's hybrid system is a novelty and for people who like not having finder blackout during exposure.
>>
>>3167543

>>3168478

I ended up getting a CLE and the three m-rookie lenses instead.
>>
>>3169313
I was going to get a CLE but the price is getting a bit ridiculous. I ended up getting a Hexar RF because it was only a couple of bucks more expensive and I got one more stop to play with. Still CLE is so cute I may still ended up getting one in the future.
>>
>>3169318

Yea, I ended up grabbing one with strap, gri[, and in like new condition for $550, and I feel like I spent too much. Love the little thing though.

The m-rokkor lenses are rising in price quite a lot lately, especially the 40mm.
>>
>>3169313
I would love that 40 rokkor but people are asking Leica prices for it but oddly the leica 40 summicron is cheaper (same lens really)
for the price I went for a collapsible summicron
>>
>>3169318
I am also considering a CLE or a Bessa, but right now I'm leaning towards a Bessa.
>>
>>3169349

They are pretty much identical except the m-rokkor is multicoated.

I like the 40mm focal length quite a bit. I am using the Voigtlander 30mm f 1.4 for now.

>>3169351

Bessa looks neat. Has more features than the CLE, but not as small and cute.
>>
>>3169250
> for people who like not having finder blackout during exposure
On a mirrorless camera, you can have no finder blackout (just a slight stutter) even without a separate finder if the camera uses an electronic shutter.

But film is still fun, I still shoot slides with my C330.
>>
>>3168179
Why did they get rid of the manual film advance?

You'd be surprised.

>A mint like new Olympus E300 DSLR camera body is for sale for those seeking Leica M9 M8 Kodak CCD image quality at very modest price (at beer price by Leica standard).

>I am a collector of Leica cameras. Olympus E300 has 8MP that is higher resolution than the flagship e1. Thus is one of my favorite DSLRs for the Kodak CCD photo quality and seductive color reproduction performance.

leica lenses make everything looks better than what they are in real life. so for leica it's more than the sensor.

>>
>>3169364
Having the last frame freeze in there is the same thing as blackout: removes the user's view of what exactly it was that you flashed, if viewing only through camera finder (or telly). Good point about hotshoe finders though.
>>
>>3169396

Asu?
>>
>>3169428
That just sounds like an unscrupulous guy trying to sell his shitty old camera for a high price.
I actually used an E-300 for a few days and while the IQ at low ISO was pretty good, it was one of the most frustrating cameras otherwise.

>>3169632
Unless the camera manufacturer is retarded and has no option to disable instant image review, the frame only has to freeze for the duration of sensor reset and actual exposure.
Another cool thing is that an EVF can allow you to capture the image *before* the shutter press, eliminating muscle reaction time from the equation, but I've only seen this feature in a couple exotic cameras.
>>
>>3169837

Mirrorless has no blackout now anyway.

Stealing this, is the M8 still worth it or is it just overpriced digishit, I have a M3 and a 28mm Ultron 1.9 and the 7artisans 50mm but the M3 does not have the 28mm frameline and I kind of miss having an in built lightmeter, many times I end up not shooting because I have to meter before.

Should I get the M8, a X-T20 and enjoy the 4k, the A7 because muh fool frame or just cut the shit and get an M6?
>>

- Tiny, dim viewfinder (the only dimmer finder I've seen on a DSLR was on Panasonic DMC-L1, which incidentally is based on E-300's successor)
- Tiny, grainy screen

Welp guys I just had my R-D1 for a week and the shutter has already broke. The camera would not fire the shutter at all. Luckily the seller is kind enough and there is a chance that I will get a refund on the camera.
Should I buy a new R-D1 after the refund? Or should I spend a bit more to get a slightly more modern digital rangefinder? Since Leica M8 is also prone to fail, should I spend money on an M9 or a newer Leica?
>>
>>3172490
>Seized shutter

This is often due to using an old or substandard generic battery that has inadequate charge. However, although the shutter is a high-quality component made by Copal, there have been a few reports of shutter failure unrelated to the battery.

Similarly to the Cosina-Voigtländer Bessa cameras, the shutter can jam if it is cocked before it has fully released.

Before worrying unduly, do check that the battery hasn’t run out or that the memory card isn’t full!
