Probably the best mix of portability, functionality and quality I've ever had in a camera. Sold my Fuji X-E2 to fund a road trip and considered buying another one once I could afford to, but very glad I went with the EM5II instead.

This one is something else. Lens?

Anyway, does anyone know what's in the bag of Olympus for the future? I think that om-10 iii was the last one. New pen, om-5 iii, or something else?
>>
>>3215230
Thanks. All of mine are with the Olympus 12mm f2, it's the only lens I have, but that particular shot was cropped a little to remove a doorframe at the top.
>>
>>3215223
no, thought it's shot from a plane

>>3215234
Oh. Nah, it's from a mountain, around 3000 metres I think.

i think i converted my grandpa to an mft camera. a year ago i asked him for advice when looking for a camera because he used to be a professional photographer (did kitchens, furniture and stuff for catalogues). i went with an olympus M10 II over the a6000 mostly because it felt better in my hands and there are a lot of lenses for mft. i was eager to show him the camera and i think he was pretty amazed by it. the controls are great, the evf compared to his compact camera (a discontinued nikon with evf) is lightyears ahead and the olympus is surprisingly feature packed especially for its size and price.
>>
How do you guys feel about the aspect ratio? I'm a newbie looking to buy my first serious camera and I've considered m4/3, however I wondered if the frame is too "boxy" to work in.
>>
>>3215267
Can always crop in-camera or afterwards in photoshop. Personally prefer 4:3 to 3:2.

It’s a nice system. They make a lot of primes as if it was a system targetted for real enthusiasts. MFT is THE enthusiast system, it’s small, easy to use, rich with fun innovative modern features, and the lens lineup is just NOT casuals-tier. Nowadays it’s hard to justify your enthusiasm while using APS-C, because camera makers pretty much created APS-C cameras with entry-level casuals in mind, not enthusiasts who want 14mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm (in ff equiv) primes available for them. I mean, can you get a dedicated prime of those focal lengths in Nikon DX or APS-C Canon? I don’t think so. MFT haters are the maddest among the others, because they can’t accept that a small sensor system has to be so good and inviting.

My GX1 is on the way.

that was a pretty huge mistake. The A6000 is way sharper and has much higher resolution then the meme M10 2
>>
>>3215368
Who cares about sharpness when you neglect to focus on your subjects?
>>
>>3215368
Yeah but the lens lineup is casuals-tier. Not enough small primes that get you shooting. Do you think Cartier Bresson would be legendary if he was to use big G Master lenses? I don’t think so. His ideas wouldn’t flow.
>>
>>3215368
the a6000 lacks tons of features, IBIS and touchscreen for example and is awkward to use.
>>
>>3215267
in landscape it sometimes looks quite high. it excels in portrait mode. in my opinion 3:2 looks comically tall in many cases
>>
>>3215342
I think Fuji is the only one taking apsc seriously. For Canon/Nikon's dslr range it's entry grade, they get second grade lenses and features deliberately cut so they don't undercut full frame. For Sony it's marketing toy. They have no idea what they're doing with theirs. Cute cameras with horrible ergonomics, designed by marketers. Similarly lacking lense lineup.
But I think that there's a chance for Canon's mirrorless to pick up. EOS M5 by all reviews still isn't up the par for the price it's going, but i've been checking M6 lately, and the samples are fantastic. It's purely still shot camera, bad af, lense lineup smalled by far, but again great picture quality. If only it came with evf...
>>
>>3215164
Guys, if you're going to post shots with subtle gradients please don't compress the shit out of the files as you just end up with horrendous banding. Thanks.
Also good shot with that one caveat.
>>
>>3215723
>I think Fuji is the only one taking apsc seriously.
You are incorrect.

>For Canon/Nikon's dslr range it's entry grade
You are confusing “APS-C sensors only go in entry-level bodies” with “entry-level bodies only get APS-C sensors”. Both Nikon and Canon (and Pentax, for that matter) have pro-level APS-C cameras that are just as good as their full frame ones.

>they get second grade lenses
No they don’t, because crop sensors have access to all of the full-frame lineup as well as the crop-only lineup.
>>
>>3215368
Stay the fuck out of this thread son, you're already btfo talent wise, don't compound the issue by losing the IQ battle to a sensor that's half the size of yours.
>>
>>3215734
What are you trying to say? Sorry but these quotes are confusing as hell.
>>
>>3215954
I’m saying that Nikon, Canon, and Pentax take APS-C just as seriously as they take full frame
>>
>>3215959
I see, fair point.

M43 is great thanks to its endless lens compatibility, portability, and affordability. However, it doesn't match the image quality of full frame, and likely never will for the same reasons 35mm could never match 120mm.

I say that as someone who's owned Olympus and Panasonic equipment. I'd post pictures but I haven't owned a mft camera in at least a year.
>>
>>3215734
>because crop sensors have access to all of the full-frame lineup as well as the crop-only lineup.

You shouldn’t mount a ff lens onto a crop body. The universal mount of crop bodies is just an added gimmick. Real woke enthusiasts will know that you wil sacrifice A LOT of sharpness if you use ff lenses on a crop body. Tony Northrup made a video about that. You’re only supposed to use lenses that are dedicated for that format. And with Nikon DX, since their lenses are all 3.5 zooms, and no wide primes, then we can judge that Nikon DX is targetted for casuals who ONLY use 3.5 zooms.

MFT on the other hand, has a lot of primes, and they actually treat the system and the segment seriously. It’s for enthusiasts. It’s a system for everyone, really, from enthusiasts to casuals. I can’t justify my seriousness in photography using the D90 that my dad got for me when i was still bluepilled
