I've always been interested in playing those tabletop games with figures like Warhammer and all that, but I never could afford to. It only came to me that I could make papercraft models to play them.

Could you guys recommend me tabletop games that were made specifically for papercraft models? Or some links to games that have been adapted into papercraft.

I do paper craft D&D set ups all the time. At work right now, but I can pay some picks when I get home if you're interested.

That would be great. Looking for pdfs to get me started, or any other templates especially for the maps. Characters would help too

I forgot how these were put together. I think you just have to stick them on a one-inch circular base of sorts.

>>

I think you have to glue them to a base or some-odd. In 40k, units stand on circular one-inch bases - sometimes bigger ones. You can make these out of cardboard.

The tank doesn't require a base.

tabletops like 40k require plenty of figs, which in papercraft take a long time to make, i suggest https://onepagerules.wordpress.com/ which has several games to be played with few figs, also mini dungeon adventures as anon said is a great game, i did adapt it though to use bigger figures and only one character per square, the game is still great, i could upload chibi 40k sets if youre interested

Another approach, since many tabletop games require a large amount of Terrain, is to use papercrafts to create scenery to fight over and use the actual models.

Me and some buddies actually just started playing infinity and have been using a ton of papercraft to quickly get the absurd amount of terrain needed to actually play a proper game.

Okay anon, I hope you're still here because I've got a lot of experience being poor and doing warhammer. To start with I'd recommended getting friends who would be interested so you can play a small skirmish game, such as Shadow War Armageddon, Kill Team, GorkaMorka (If you love orks play this 10/10 game) or non-40k ones such as infinity etc. Then you need a couple of things to start playing:
•Rulebooks
Easily downloadable of /tg/, there is no cost or time involved other than downloading or reading
•dice and templates
You can get packs of dice from $2 stores (I believe Americans call them drug stores?) And you can print out templates easy as
•models
This is obviously a very important part of the game. If you are just playing a first game with mates then its okay to use paper models, which can be easily turned out by a simple google search. Tanks and vehicles can be easily modelled really well in paper/cardboard, as long as you use techniques like diverting and actually painting the damn model. Infantry don't take as well to paper, so I would recommend replacing the paper ones with cheap plastics such as the old Warzone from Prince August or the various super cheap em4 plastics.
•Scenery
This is, imo, the most important part of the game. Fortunately it is one of the cheapest and easiest things to model in the game. If you give me time I'll dump a whole lot of terrain for you.
>>
>>553164
I've prepared a selection of models for starting an Imperial Guard force, here you go.

To start with read the Rulebooks (Main rules and the codex), which you can find in the /40kg/ on /tg/.
Then what you want to do is build a couple squads out of these dudes (or other paper ones).
You can find more of these guys including special weapons on genet models under fun stuff.
>>
>>553174
Forgot to mention these need separate bases, which you can find at one monk bases in google. They fit on 25mm circles like pdf related. These will do though i would strongly recommend using gw/clones of gw bases as it ties your force together. Personally I base them like proper models (put mud and stuff on the base) because it will tie into any later force you do, but you can find pre-textured ones at one monk.
>>
>>553175
After you get a few models and you've read the rules, you're gonna want to play a game. To do this in seventh edition your going to need templates and dice, though in eight (the next edition) you won't need the templates. These templates look gay af but they're functional.
>>

>>553176
After you've played a couple of games and decided you like it, you're going to want to expand your army with tanks etc.
There is a massive suppository of models for most factions here:
(edit: I can't post the link so just search armorman zealot eli thread and browse his thread till you find it)
Pic related is what you're likely want to start out with; it's big, metal and it has guns.
Personally I paint them and add details such as rivets and stowage because it looks way better, but you are your own person.
>>
>>553177
The other thing you need to do is make terrain. This is an inferior guide to the one gw put out a while ago but it does the trick. You can do this at anystage but it really makes your games like 200* better.
>>
>>547775
Me and some friends used to make paper maps all the time in high school for D&D because we were broke. They weren't fancy or anything, just poster board with layouts drawn in marker, but they got the job done.

Just spent the past two days working on the beta of MDA 2017. Gonna go test it at Origins tonight.
>>
>>554026
I got lots of feedback and new ideas. The main thing I need to work on is motivating players not to just camp at a doorway and wait for monsters to come to them, which most play groups were trying to do. Some attack strengths being ridiculously low or high are also an issue when you need either a 6 to hit or you hit on anything other than a 1. People seemed to like the new relics and class leveling.

I've been trying to do that as well, going from scratch is hard but if you find shapes that are close to what you want you can use his things as a template and just stitch together images of the thing you want to make. Might make a tutorial on it, will post in the designing thread I made if I do.

Ive used these before, I used 'slotta bases' and you can make a little tab that goes into the slot and you fold it under. pretty easy. the bases are crazy cheap if you just go on ebay, just get chinese no name ones, they will work.

I just searched it, and the first result is 100 of them for 15 bucks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Armskeeper-ARM02504-20mm-Round-Slotted-Base-Mega-Pack-100-Bases-Black-Slot-NIB-/142403654145?hash=item2127eb5201:g:xFgAAOSw1WJZMud9

Hey, this seems like as good a thread as I can find. I'm planning on running a D&D naval campaign and I'm looking for good sailing ship miniatures to help with that. I want to use them to track voyages and do ship-to-ship combat on 1-inch hex grid maps that I'm drawing out by hand. I had planned on using some of the minis from Pirates of the Spanish Main(pic related), but it turns out they stopped making them a while back. Anyone know of a good alternative? I'm looking for models that ideally fall into the 0.5-2 inch range in length. If I can't find a good and cheap alternative I'll have to buy PotSM minis off ebay.
