so i guess you all read this guys story.

now go check this youtube vid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muiHkkbPpdU [Embed]
use HEADPHONES! start at 3:00. after 3:10 you here several small explosions like firecrackers, and some lower that sounds more boomy not cracky.
thats when people start asking whats going on, and start moving (big boom at 3:36). then you hear small "crack" sound again at 3:50 only milliseconds before the clearly destinguishable gunshots start.

3 different sounds. close cracks, distant booms, and the gunshots.

what the fuck is this?
i downloaded the video only in case...

What if the woman who tried to warn everybody came back with fireworks to scare them away?
>>
The dull thuds are the bullets exiting the gun.
The loud cracks are the bullets passing close by whoever is filming. The crack is a sonic boom.
If the bullets aren't near you, you don't hear the sonic crack, just the ejections from the rifle.
He was shooting all over the place, hence why you sometimes hear the crack and you sometimes only hear the dull gunfire, and it differs from video to video depending on the camera's location.
This is something you learn during basic military training.
>>
>>144362862
To me it sounds like gun fire and then the super sonic cracks. all the close cracking is definitely bullets breaking sound barrier

LVMPD said there were holes in the jet fuel tankers on the other side of the concert, right?

I am thinking he took a couple single shots to calibrate his scope/sites, the POPs were probably impacts on the tankers.

Once he had what he wanted he(they) let loose.

Kek. I met this crackhead one time who told me he was arrested for vandalizing his dad's place (he was about 40, not the dad) set his dad's house on fire b/c he wouldn't give him money for crack (obviously). The story he gave to the cops was that a bunch of nigs broke in with torches and said they were going to destroy the house. He put a blanket over him and shot bottle rockets down the hall at them and they set a curtain on fire before leaving. Just picture this wild eyed tweaker firing rockets down the hallway of an empty house.

there are two incredibly different shooting sounds
>>
>>144368929
Yeah. Its the same sound you can hear in many military related videos whenever the live fire is close in proximity.

I did notice you can see the muzzle flash (I think) or some blinking like in the blackness of the mandalay. Is that paddocks room? If not that would be kind of weird that you wouldn't see it past the first few shots.

I can't imagine being in that situation. Not even conceal carry can protect you. Practically shooting fish in a barrel.

1:42 fire crackers go off?
You can see a puff of smoke shoot up in about the middle of the crowd. Could it be to divert the sound or a coincidence?
>>
>>144368929
a bullet stops accelerating as soon as it leaves the barrel. so why should it make a sonic crack while its rushing thru the air?

most likely these are impact sound from the bullets.

but that brings up the question: why can you hear impacts before you can hear gunshots? (video 2, 3:10 - 3:49 )

The close cracks are the shockwaves coming off the bullets. The reason you hear them before the rifle shots is because the bullet arrives before the muzzle report.

All the cracks are the shockwaves coming off the near bullets. All the distant gunshots are the muzzle reports.
>>
>>144366059
Because the bullets are traveling at 3 times the speed of sound. The bullet arrives before you hear the muzzle report. And if the bullet is close to the listener you will hear the crack before the muzzle report because the sound arrives at your ear first.
>>
>>144373138
i also think the cracks are impacts, as i said here >>144370504

that leaves two questions:
- what are the dull booms that make the crowd start fleeing before the rapidfire starts?
- why can you hear impacts arround 30 seconds before the rapidfire starts, with NO gunshots afterwards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muiHkkbPpdU 3:10 - 3:50

i understand that the bullet impact comes before the muzzle sound reaches me, but that will be milliseconds, not 20 seconds (first cracks at 3:10, gunshots starting at 3:50)
>>
>>144373337
yes, but in the range of milliseconds. not 40 seconds >>144373493
>>
>>144373493
The speed of sound is 1080 feet per second. The concert was 1200 feet from the hotel room. That means the bullet would arrive about 1 second before before you hear the muzzle report.
>>
>>144373540
Actually about 1 second, not milliseconds.
>>
>>144372511
lsd weed chamomile
>>
>>144373912
>>144373945
nope.
that would be the time the sound needs to travel 1200 feet. velocity=distance/time => time=distance/velocity

but you want to calculate the time difference between two moving objects. so you need the difference of speeds. so it is actually time=(speedofbullet-speedofsound)/distance and thats less then 1 second.

whatever this discussion is irrelevant, we still dont know what the loud dull boom sound are that make people flee before gunfire starts.

these are examples of american education.
he calculated 1200 ft / 1080 ft/s = approx. 1s

this would be correct: (with assumtion of muzzle speed = 3000 ft/s)

1200 ft / (3000 ft/s - 1080 ft/s) = 625ms

i dont know where he got the 1200 ft distance tho
>>
>>144372793
>I'm serious
Don't be so quick to dismiss the staging theory. No hits on camera. Except one. I have a friend in news that interviewed some hospital victims and said it was fucking bizarre. Those simulated guns sound almost exactly like the shots in shooting footage. And it explains your fireworks and why different gunfire can be heard all over the place.
>>
>>144375789
well, when i hear hoof rattle i first think of horses. not zebras or even unicorn.

can anyone help me determine the distance from hotel window to stage? on google maps it look more like 800ft
>>
>>144375373
theres a photo going around showing the distance at approximately 1200ft accounting for the elevation increase.

.223 has an average fps of just over 3000 feet per second, so the 3x the speed of sound is fairly accurate
>>
>>144376267
Now account for the 35 stories in elevation
>>
>>144376958
so my calculation of ~625ms delay between impact and muzzle report is accurate enough.

but if you listen close at 3:10 you can hear an impact with no corespondingh muzzle report, and shortly an impact with its muzzle report. but that sounds a lot faster than half a second to me...

anyone good in audio editing who can measure the time between impactsound and gunshot sound?

>a bullet stops accelerating as soon as it leaves the barrel. so why should it make a sonic crack while its rushing thru the air?

A bullet leaves the muzzle with a given escape velocity, correct. Air resistance (and thermodynamics of forming a high pressure front) immediately start working against the bullet, causing a decceleration. The bullet begins to slow down.

So no, those are not "impact sounds" they are the sonic boom and you hear them first because the bullet is travelling faster than the subsonic rifle report, so the shock wave local to the bullet reaches your ears long before the subsonic rifle report emerging from the rifle muzzle.

As long as the bullet is still moving at supersonic speeds, which for standard supersonic ammunition is quite a distance, then the bullet will create a sonic shock-wave which can easily be heard if you are anywhere near the path of the bullet (the shock-wave dissipates over longer distances).
>>
>>144373493
no, see >>144381804
>>
>>144381804
wait... isn't a sonic boom created when an object is accelerated above the speed of sound?
then it goes BANG once. not continously, and not when dropping under speed of sound...
>>
>>144382188
No. A sonic boom is created at all points along the trajectory of an object that has a supersonic velocity. Its a shock WAVE.

You only hear one report because you have one position, and you experience the wave as it passes your position.

And as I mentioned, in supersonic ammunition, the bullet will not drop to subsonic speed for quite a long distance (hundreds of meters).
>>
>>144382273
Remember it wouldve echod
>>
>>144382339
Remember that an echo requires a reflection off a large surface, and that the sonic boom itself is not supersonic (the bullet is), so you need to take into account the entire reflective path, as well as considering the dissipation of the sound energy and if the report would even be able to reflect effectively back to your original position, to determing how long a delay and how loud an eventual echo might be.
>>
>>144367053
https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e88_1507253728
>>
>>144382273
so i can hear a sonic boom everytime a supersonic jet flies passes me by? not only at and arround the location it initialy accelerates past speed of sound?
>>
Says he doing a livestream q&a tomorrow
>>
>>144382623
Yes. Go out to an airforce base like McClellan near Sacremento CA and have a fun day (I saw am SR-71 blackbird come in once fucking amazing).

You will hear after the plane goes by your position. If you have a friend several miles down the road in the direction the plane is flying, he will hear the boom some time after you.

The boom is a sound wave, and sound travels through air at the speed of sound.

If the jet is flying fast enough, and has the correct trajectory with respect to your position, you might even hear more than one boom as you are struck by different parts of the shock wave.
>>
>>144382942
To be more specific, the object is supersonic and makes a big pressure wave in front of it (this pressurization is what causes space shuttles to heat up on reentry btw, it is not because of friction with the air). As the plane moves, it is packing new air into high pressure zones, and the old air (now behind the plane) must relax into lower pressure again (think of water splashing first up and then down in a bathtup), and when it does, it makes a clap like thunder.

The entire distance of the object's path, air is being pressurized in front, and relaxing behind, and creating this continual long clap which people will typically only hear once as the wave usually only impinges on a person once as it passes by (the exception given as before is if the object is travelling at speeds at or greater than mach2, in which case the wave form becomes very complex and you can be hit multiple times by the same continual wave).

you're right, thanks i didnt know that yet.

so what we still dont kow:
- whats are the dull boom sounds that make people run even before you can hear the gunshots?
- why are there sonic booms without a coresponding muzzle break?
- the videos of muzzle flashes coming from the 4th floor
- is the delay between sonic boom and muzzle break arround ~600ms? to me it sounds like its not even half a second. way below that i estimate. some who has the know how to measure it?

>>144380807

>>
>>144362862

Are you suggesting Paddock was actually trying to save people from errant firework rockets and shrapnel?
>>
>>144383219
>whats are the dull boom sounds that make people run even before you can hear the gunshots?

there were a ton of different weapons in that room, if subsonic ammunition was used initially, this could explain the crowd reacting without hearing the cracking sound (keep in mind the quality and position of each recording, as well -nothing here is ideal).

>why are there sonic booms without a coresponding muzzle break?
are you sure? You would need to do careful audio analysis of all available recordings before you make this claim. Can easily be that you jsut don't hear them effectively in a particular recording. Remember delay as well.

>the videos of muzzle flashes coming from the 4th floor
YOU DONT KNOW THEY ARE MUZZLE FLASHES. Correct question is what are the flashes coming from the 4th floor, and could they be weapons fire? Given that they do not seem to correlate to rifle reports, and that they are apparently seen BEFORE the first shots are fired, and that none of those windows were damaged, it seems most likely that they are not muzzle flashes. Note that it is possible for a window to be removed and re-installed in the chaos, so its not impossible. But that still doesnt explain the lack of correlation to muzzle reports (or people on that floor going online to claim that they heard more shooting in their next door room).
>-is the delay between sonic boom and muzzle break arround ~600ms? to me it sounds like its not even half a second. way below that i estimate.

You cannot estimate that and you shouldnt even try, humans are awful at estimating. You measure it, again, careful audio analysis. The delay would have to be carefully calculated and you would need to know exactly what kind of rifle and what kind of ammunition he was using to get ms precision, but I am sure veterans have some good rules of thumb and I have not seen any /k/ threads disputing the delay with any credibility.
>>
>>144384065
Usually people run from fire, so they'd be running towards the hotel he was in. That may have been the plan.

>>144384082
>But that still doesnt explain the lack of correlation to muzzle reports (or people on that floor going online to claim that they heard more shooting in their next door room).

3:36 large dull boom at which people start running and again some more sonic cracks.

>>
>>144384773
Im not going to do this by watching youtube videos, and im not an audio-analysis expert.
>>144384622
If verifiable evidence of multiple shooters emerges, im all on board. Keep in mind however that eye-witness accounts are notoriously unreliable, to the point that it is being discussed to which level they should even be admissible in court. So again, video or at least audio evidence is a MUST, doubly so when there are so many fucking larping idiots ready to corrupt the record to get a laugh.

For the record, my own personal hunch is that Stephen was tied up with the alphabets and was likely fascilitating a weapons-transfer, perhaps in a sting, perhaps in 'fast-and-furious' type setup, or perhaps in some far more sinister fashion. Then it went south, for whatever reason. I have very strong suspicions that stephen was the only shooter, or that he was even a shooter. I find it HIGHLY irregular, that the feds named him as the shooter within hours of the incident, long before any technical forensics could have been performed to prove this was the case. They also were way too fast to shut down the idea that he was with anybody, or especially that he may have had connections to ISIS. This is a red flag and errodes only their already deteriorated credibility.
>>
>>144385357
sorry that got lost in translation.

I am highly suspicious that he was the only shooter, or even a shooter.
>>
>>144384082
EX-mil was with two buddies. vegas is at like 1800 ft that's like 740 m/s at 1100m leaving roughly 3-4 seconds. so yeah. no real delay.
>>
>>144385357
He was staying in a hotel room under his own name... you don't have to be Sherlock fucking Holmes to sort it out...
>>
>>144386182
Great. So you proved that he was there.

Im a scientist by trade, state of the art stuff and I am used to having to prove every last detail. Forensic science is no different.

I have yet to see any proof that he was alone or that he was even the shooter, only that he ended up dead in the room which was used. That would be fine, if the feds had just done what is normally done and fucking waiting to come out with their explanation, but they jumped the gun and immediately started saying things which they couldnt possibly have known.

Whole thing stinks to high heaven. If stephen is the only shooter (could have been, cant rule that out either), then they are still being highly disingenuous and acting in an abnormal fashion regarding the pressers. And yes, I realize that LEA as a rule doesn't explain everything they know in an active investigation.
>>
>>144386382

I think saying he was alone so quickly would just aid in calming everyone in Vegas down. It also might instill a false sense of security in the conspirators who may be trying to leave the area, making them more prone to mistakes and easier to find.
I am like you, I don't even use the world "believe". I only feel I have evidence to support something or I don't, so I can't say anything about what happened. I just look at all the videos and scanners to try to piece this all together. Time will reveal all.
>>
>>144387045
Yeah, that is a positive look at it, but I think even if you could trust the feds to that extent (they have certainly shown that you cannot at least under the obama administration), it is still a mistep as most of the american public is highly cynical and immediately draws the same kinds of conclusions that i do, at least insofar that a coverup is assumed.

Its also arguable that putting the population to ease is a very bad move, if they are after some real bad guys. Thats a lot of eyes and ears who wont be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

basically this. You are already shooting into an enclosed space that is packed with 20000+ people with nearly fully automatic weapons fire.

having people on the ground lighting fucking fireworks is gonna work for all of ten seconds before bodies start hitting the floor and mass panic starts to ensue (which is basically what happened sans the normalcy bias exhibited by the drunken crowd), and now you have your people, in the fucking kill zone, exposing themselves to getting killed by you on accident and/or capture/detection.

If you are going down that road, just give them one of your 43+ guns and be done with it.
