I believe that the population of people who collectively discard superstitious thinking and fully embrace the scientific method will have a decisive strategic advantage.

This would be the new enlightenment.

This population would devote a large percentage of their capital to scientific literacy, critical thinking, genetics, AI and nanotech - while the rest of the world busies itself with conflicts over outdated and unproven religious or social ideologies.

Western Christians could be this population given that their societies allowed for the original enlightenment to occur.

It could be argued that the next stage in social evolution for western Christians, and one that would put them leagues above the rest of the world in terms of technological advancement, would be closing the book on religion, treating it as an important stage in human thinking, and fully embracing an evidence based culture.

Discuss.

Christianity is evidence based.

It's virtually the only religion which encourages its believers to demand proof.
