How is the Electoral Voting system fair?

>California + New York + Texas + Florida + Illinois + Ohio + North Carolina + Pennsylvania + New Jersey + Michigan + Virginia
>125.466.254 eligible voters
>267 worth of EVs
>remaining states
>106.090.368 eligible voters
>271 worth of EVs

Assume the following
>states totalling 267 worth of EV: 100% votes for one candidate (Cand. 1)
>states totalling 271 worth of EV: one candidate wins every state by 51/49 (Cand. 2)

Which means:
>Cand. 1 has 177.4m votes, 267 electoral votes - Loses
>Cand. 2 has 54.1m votes, 271 electoral votes - Wins

How is the democratic?
>>
We're a republic not a democracy
>>
It's to stop California and New York from deciding the winner every single time.

Also to stop the huge amount of illegal voters.
>>
So you're saying the senate should be abolished? It's along the same principles (EC is number of reps + senators).
