Say what you want about Americans, but on July 20, 1969, they completed the most monumental achievement of mankind. The Moon landing showed humanity that it was actually possible for humans to leave our home planet and go to other celestial bodies. It’s such a fundamental step in how humanity approaches the world, it’s really incredible.

Not to mention that 25yrs before the Moon landing apart from a few dozen fantasists, nobody would even dare to dream of putting a man made object into space.
