A computer is really just an advanced evolution of a book. AI is just a further evolution of a computer. Did books end humanity when they were first printed? In a way, they did. They forever changed what we were and what we were capable of doing. The old humans (without books) still exist but they have none of the advantages that we take for granted. We need to colonize other worlds to survive our sun's inevitable death. The oral traditions aren't going to cut it and neither will dead ink and paper. We need living, thinking, machines. They will only be evil if we design them that way.
