might get a job this year after ~5years of neet life
>>
>>50924077
Like shit. I've been through eight jobs in 14 months. I have applied to 780(ish) jobs in the last five years.

I have disability status, so I'm not allowed to work full time. Part time work is a unicorn, so only casual work with no benefits or job security exists. I got fired from my latest one because my back gave out. Can't go back to university until I'm out of debt, but need a job to get out of debt.

>I want to die.
>>
>>50924117
Then don't go back to minimum wage jobs. There's a billion people out there. They need food and gizmos and all sorts of things. Just take a bag of bread and imagine how many people are involved to getting that to you. The shelf-stocker, and the receiver and the driver and the driving instructor and the packer and the creator and the bakery manager and the janitor at the bakery and the slicers and the bread salesmen and you can't forget the delivery driver that gives the bakery their ingredients for the bread and where do you think all those things come from?

you can do this with any item, and the further away from the store shelf stocking job you are, the more you get paid. You just have to work your way up. I was a janitor somewhere but they fired me and got cheap mexicans to do it instead, so I just talked to one of my delivery buddies who I let into the place at night so they could drop off stuff and I became a driver and one thing lead to another and I became the transportation manager for a food company.

lotta gigs out there if you have imagination.

Fucking boring. I only cut 24 people today and was exchanging meters for the rest of the day. On the other hand a co-op has called me back so that's nice hopefully I'll be moving to that God forsaken hellhole soon.
>>
>>50924244
>I only cut 24 people today and was exchanging meters for the rest of the day

no don't tell me what it is. You're an assassin/yardstick salesman
>>
>>50924077
terrible
i'm not a hairlet so yeah
>>
Like shit. I have 0 experience and thus 0 references.
>>
>>50924345
You just have to put yourself out there! Apply for work experience and get taken advantage of! Apply for an apprenticeship that already has a thousand applicants and five available spots! Apply for a job agency that makes you re-write your resume and trawl through the classifieds like you do at home anyway! (:

I've been doing factory jobs for a year and want to upskill but I have no idea what to do with my life.

Community college courses aren't interesting to me, I don't want to enter a trade because I don't like working with tradesmen and it's stressful. I could go to college (next year) but don't have the funds for it.
>>

All you've gotta do is show up there and ask to speak with the manager. Stand up straight, look him in the eye, give him a firm handshake, and tell him you'll be the best hire they'll ever make. That simple, Champ!
>>
>>50924269
That sounds pretty interesting desu. But no I'm the guy who shuts people's power off for not paying their bills. It's loads of fun except when you get so good you shut off and turn on 60+ people a day and have 4 hrs to spare.

IT security and management

Job market in my llocal area of florida sucks for this work and companies out source. I want to move to tampa or orlando for more opportunities but I have no Idea how id go about doing that with no fucking money
>>
>>50924614
That's cool read your agreement with the power company and realize you have an easement that lets me go on to your property to cut your power.
That being said I've had police help me out on cuts like that before. One dude actually got sent to jail for 6 months for trying to swing on me in front of said police officer. Good fun.
>>
>>50924577
Do you feel that your job is threatened by the rise of smart meters? My apartment complex had smart meters installed recently so they don't have to have people come in and manually disconnect services anymore.
>>
>>50924663
No, not really since most of our meters are AMI already. It's just our contractor hasn't finished out the service area we cover yet. Credit is only about 10% of my total work.
>>
Stupid I don't like working in retail. Some state worker wants me to look at indeed. I find the site is stupid. I had a good job at a insurance company they're firing people.

Sucks. I blew my chance to work as an internship for this one place I think just because i was crawling out of depression. Now I'm a graduated mechanical engineer with a 3.33 and work at whole foods with the only engineering experience I have as working for a client on my senior project, but I can't list that as my professional experience so I feel like I'm sending blank job apps at this point
>>
>have applied to just about everything within a 10 mile radius of my home now
>if I go to stores I ask if they're hiring and all they say is "GO ONLINE"
>multiple people who want me to work for free as a volunteer or an unpaid internship for fulltime hours
>multiple places that will hire someone after an online application, but they want 50+ hours a week, 6 days a week at maybe 9 dollars an hour total

i just want to work somewhere 2-3 days a week for maybe 15-20 hours at most so I can contribute 200-300 dollars a month to my household and have a few spare dollars to save or go out and do things, I'm so fucking bored sitting here every day doing nothing but at the same time I don't want my soul sucked out of my body from a terrible job.
>>
>>50924656
you're going to need a bigger yardstick if you want to try that. Only the god of Thor can control the electricity and I'll take you to court for blasphemy
>>
>>50924077
Not great. I have an office/lab job that is painfully boring. Today I had to sign a birthday card for a coworker I never talk to or know anything about. Why do they make you do that shit?
>>
>>50924761
Man I had some schizo actually try to pull some crazy shit like that on me one day. She was talking about how the upc on the label of the meter was the mark of Satan and was going to open some portal to the underworld. Her poor daughter was so embarrassed she actually was very nice to me and told me not to mind since her grandma worked in the silver mines for most of her life. Such as life in a 3% white town.
>>
>>50924077
Pretty shit
>mental broken neet for several years after college, went full hikki for 1 year
>went and got a med certificate thinking it's a busy field and there's several major hospitals nearby
>spent several months doing this and taking national and state exams afterwards
>got the cert, but got turned down for every job I applied for at the hospitals
it's basically the same as if I had never done the class in the first place
my parents just got up from the dinner table and stomped off after hearing the news. They were certain I'd have a job by the end of this month at the latest
>>
I don't know. Everyday I think about quitting. I'm working 7 days in a row again. I feel like no matter what I do it's never enough. I feel like everyone hates me and that's probably my mental health.

I know I'm not sociable. I'm scared to talk to anyone that isn't a customer. It's paralyzing. My relaxed face looks like I'm mad when I'm not. I do my job and show up everyday. I got promoted and handle a lot more even if it's retail.

I was standing waiting for my boss to finish up so we can close the store and she asks if she's in my way and I say no and she says I'm fibbing. I wanted to die. I was just standing there.
>>
>>50924850
>working 7 days in a row
this is one of my worst fears about getting even a part tiem jbo, they fucking take advantage of you. 3-4 days a week my ass, they stick you with one day off every 2-3 days and you're just in a perpetual neverending week of more than one day off at a time, it's so shitty.
>>
>>50924872
What they've done repeatedly to me is schedule my off days on say Sunday and Monday and then work me till Saturday and since Sunday is a new work week they schedule me Sunday and Monday too.

We're understaffed and I'm not even sure if it's intentional but it's happened multiple times now. Sometimes even 8 days. I've worked 11 and a half hour days before because I knew my co-worker needed me because she had nobody else to be there to close the store. I also know nobody would ever do that for me when I have closing duty and i want to cry. I hate this work ethic mixed with hating myself and always thinking everyone hates me
>>
>>50924829
yeah she sounds crazy

dumb women doesn't even know satan was made up by christians to scare people into giving them dollars. Kind of funny though, ain't it. She thought money was the mark of satan. how right she is
>>
I can't get past job interview for any position that isnt fast food or pumping gas. I failed another interview last week for a braindead office position because becky didn't think I had good enough social skills. I hope every neurotypical dies a painful death
>>
>>50924077
how do you even get a job being a mute, hateful autist?
>>
Is there anything that can be done from home, online that actually makes decent money each month? I've tried survey sites, applying for mturk, it's all fucking pissdribble money.
>>
Fucking stupid, have an entire folder full of shit I should've learned by now but my brain always locks up and disassociates while on site and it doesn't fucking stop
>>
>>50925310
Employers need you more than you need them. It's why I don't want to be an employer. Imagine your choices being as such:

You need a new worker. Only one person applies. He's crap. You can't let the job go undone. You could do it yourself, but you have a business to run. dollars to donuts, you are going to end up hiring that idiot and hope it works out. Sometimes it will. Sometimes it won't. Your whole reputation and business is on the line. Not a big deal if you own wal-mart, but most employers are smaller than that. Some idiot fucks up your shit, crashes your delivery van, or enters orders incorrectly, what does he lose? A minimum wage job? the day's pay of a hundred bucks? he can shrug that off. You, if you lose a contract with a big customer because they are annoyed with late or wrong deliveries. That can hurt.

nah fuck that, I'll stick with being an employee.
>>
>>50924077
My job fucking sucks
Shitty hours, shitty pay, shitty job
Being in a factory isn't what I went to college to do
But I don't know what to even apply for anymore
And I have no connections

been walking into tons of shops asking if they're hiring. i'm gonna start making calls tomorrow. i even got a guy's number who'd help me out with anything. trying to get out of the nest and fall in love
>>
>>50925479
oh yeah I was supposed to finish that story off with actual advice, though you might have got my meaning anyway. The point is, go somewhere where employers are desperate for workers.

This old guy in my town runs a shop repairing sewing machines and other stuff. Mostly does residential jobs fixing old ladies' machines. Apparently he gets so much work that he can't keep up and even refuses jobs. I'm going to call him and ask whether he can take me on.

Both are going terribly.

Can't commit to searching for a job, as not qualified for the things that I'd want to do. Ended up seeing a job post that states I need a grad degree or 10+ years experience. Difficult to get myself to submit things into a blackhole after working for 12 hours a day.

I've been at a grocery job for about 3 months now. I'm 50/50 stocking shit to shelves and working in the dairy cooler. I actually kind of enjoy it. I get to listen to music and I'm building up some muscle. Customers asking me questions isn't hard to deal with because most of them follow the same script. I always hear people talk about how hellish working at a store is though. I'm not making great money but it's decent for a college dropout. Has anyone else had this experience? Is my autism working in my favor? I like starting a day with full pallets and empty shelves and ending the day with empty pallets and full shelves.
>>
>>50924509
Bruh every community college has fucking stem coirses, not trying to talk shit, but you're using the most common excuse used by lazy fucks. Physics, Chemistry, and Math are 100% there, computernigger shit is the only thing I dont see at every single one. I bet there's probably am intro to circuits or properties of materials class there.
