what is the process of getting diagnosed with autism as an adult? i think i might have it. i was always called weird growing up and there are other signs like walking on my tip toes
You go to psychiatrist, if he/she notices you are weird they will suggest autism evaluation themselves and then there are multiple sessions of evalutation, likely with another specialist. But if you are from the eastern hemisphere they dont diagnose autism for adults

>>84624134Anon, walking on the front foot is normal. Human bodies are designed to use their calves as shock absorbers instead of trampling on the back of the feet like an elephant.
>>84624134it's no longer necessaryyou missed the autism train at this point and will not get special treatment
>>84624134If you get diagnosed you dont have it.Only a non autist would attempt to be diagnosed for social points.
>>84624207Literally this. Normies have infiltrated and ruined autism like they always do. I can't wait till this cultural zeitgeist fucks off and normies get obsessed with something else idk fucking gardening or something
>>84624207OP could be wanting to file for disability $ or get workplace protections which is pretty logical behavior
The main problem is that you're unlikely to get any actual help unless you're literally shitting yourself during unpleasant social situations. The current mindset is that if you're capable of changing your daily environment to some degree into one that doesn't trigger you as much, then "you don't have it".
>>84624246I like those digits. But yeah, it's unfortunate that having deep awareness of one's problems and struggling to actually do anything about it, is somehow worse than being a completely clueless autist who can't make sense of the world around him. In the first case the expectation is much higher to begin with and there's not exactly a viable support network for people like that.
>>84624325you have no autism, autists hit their head and can't speak properly
do they do a brain scan or something? i just want to know for my own benefit. or does some labcoat give you a quiz then they say you are autistic?
>>84624352they will need the mom to chime in and talk about the whole lifeit became popular because soccer moms used it as a scape goat
Don't try. You aren't going to get one. I clearly have autism and they diagnosed me with an "unspecified social communication disorder" that needed more testing because the guy thought I was too cute to have autism. Yes really. My family spent over a thousand dollars for inconclusive results
>>84624343I wasn't saying I did. But I'm "weird" enough that people often ask me if I do.
>>84624367protip: they don't care if you dothey are just using it as a conversation topic
>>84624352QuestionsSurverys Tests
>>84624383How much someone else cares about my specific flavour of retardation is irrelevant; people believe whatever they want to believe and they're not qualified to make such assertions to begin with.
>>84624134What >>84624146 said.I went to psychiatrist earlier this month and from the way I talked she asked me if I've ever been diagnosed with autism. I'm gonna meet her again in July to get an evaluation. Honestly it'd make so much sense given my social life experience.
>>84624352Latter, and it's long, multiple sessions (hours each)They're testing you to see if you have autism but also how BAD the autism is, there's multiple support levelsYou'll go over your childhood history, you'll do internet quiz "do people ever say..." "<x> describes me." type yes/no questions, they'll have you do things like coming up with a storyThe entire time they're monitoring the time you take to do things, the difficulty you have, your body language, any questions you ask... It sucks
>>84624562I'd almost like to do it out of curiosity.
I think hanging out here and doing autistic things made me autistic.
>>84624134>>84624352You get a neuropsychologist to perform an evaluation of your profile which involves a bunch of questions and tests, then you take it to a psychiatrist, who reads it, asks you more questions, and then decides whether to diagnose you.
>>84624134>>84624352ooooo gimme dat clussy
what causes this specific lack of booby?
