Is going back to college at 35 too late? I went when I was young and dropped out because of stress but I'm a lot better now and was thinking about going back to get a degree that would allow me to become a teacher.
>>
>>84627982
You're in your mid thirties and asking an obsolete imageboard full of retarded aspies and mid-IQ reddit and xitter users for help with basic, absolute elementary arithmetic and possibly how to use a calendar, punctuated with a tranny aesthetic image to go along with your desires to be in an occupation with proximity to minors

/r9k/ is as I remember it from about a week ago, it seems it will never get better
>>
1. too late according to what? it's only too late if you're not physically capable of doing it you dickless brainlet

2. what degree? if its worthless then don't waste your money

The only people who ever succeed following the program are rich chads whose WASP mommy gets them into a good prep school and coaches them to get all the extracurriculars and shit to get into a good college.

You are not Chad, but maybe this is a blessing in disguise, because if all you've ever known is the system you will never learn to escape it, you won't even conceive of the idea. Do what you got to do, and remember, fuck n*rmies.
>>
>>84627982
Depends what degree for. Useful ones like pharmacy and medicine and youll need to study til your like 50. Computer science is getting fucked by AI. Everything else is too difficult / not worth it unless you have a passion for it
>>
>>84628065
Also if you think youll get any of the college experience stuff like women and partying at 35 ur fucked
>>
>>84627982
My parents just wanted me to get a degree and because I didn't want to work I studied political science.
>>
>>84628054

To get a teaching job. Not looking for anything other than getting my degree and then finding a comfy teaching position in some small town
>>
>>84628085
Yeah maybe try it if its worth it. Just make sure you can get a job afterwords
>>
>>84628043
>OMG he wants to teach kids how to READ? HE MUST BE A FUCKING CHILD RAPIST!!!
>>
>>84628088
I don't see teachers losing their jobs even if AI becomes a better tool for learning because people will still use school as teen daycare so it should be fine
Not sure how bad or good is it to getting a teaching job though but I don't mind moving and there should be one school somewhere needing teachers
>>
The world needs teachers, the issue is the system we have in place can't adapt fast enough.
>>
>>84628136
So is this a yes or a no for me going back?
>>
>>84628111
If his desire is to be in proximity to kids in tandem with being a trannyposter, statistically speaking, OP actually is very likely a child rapist.
>>
>>84628111
Not him but I would prefer if my children's teacher didn't lurk here. I wouldn't want someone who lurks a board with deranged incels, tranny groomers and a lot of porn to be interacting with my kids.
>>
>>84628177
Normies browse twitter which isn't much better than here nowadays
>>
>>84628177
This is at minimum a quarter of all teachers. OP might as well have said he wanted to open a daycare or a kindergarten. You already know these people are out there.

>>84628194
The only similarity between someone who browses 4chan and a normie browsing twitter are that they are both stupid. But other characteristics inherent to 4chan obv cannot be said about a normie.
>>
>>84627982
Dude I went to college with old women and middle aged moms as classmates no one cares as long as you aren't trying to fuck freshly 18 year olds
>>
>>84628206
Guess I'll do it then.
>>
>>84628114
Are you in the US? Being a teacher here is a thankless, soul sucking job that washes out a ton of people. Most people that stick around immediately start to ladder climb for admin positions to get out of the classroom. That doesn't even begin to address the fact that it is hard to be hired as a male.
> t. has family that works for the school system.
>>
>>84628230
How hard? I know it's thankless job but I'm just looking for an easy cushy job and I'm not trying to change the system or help the kids. It shouldn't be that bad.
>>
If you're a neet with no work experience living with parents i feel like it is for me personally because by the time you graduate and find a job youre gonna be too old to get a cute girlfriend. but i guess if youre very clinical about it then you can say well i cant get a girlfriend regardless so i have two options 1. killing myself and 2. just accepting i cant get a cute girlfriend but trying to improve my life without one or getting an old ugly girlfriend, and then move on with that worse off life but being better than a terrible life where you do nothing or a life where you kill yourself so it makes sense i guess it depends if you wanna kill yourself or keep going it seems to make logical sense to get your degree if you really wanna do iti and you like teaching etc
>>
>>84627982
What else are you going to do? Just do it
>>
>>84628325
I am currently a neet and I just want to find an easy and nice job to do and live a normal life
I might look for the cute girlfriend later when I'm already employed since women like when you are employed

I think there is just a bias against hiring males. the ones I know were specialized (music).
and in terms of stress, I guess it depends on where you would be. but more jobs=booming population=less than desirable students.
>>
I'm almost 34 and in the same boat.
I'm thinking it's not worth it, mainly because when my parents die they'll probably leave me with enough money to buy a small house or condo so I can just coast on a 20 hour a week shitail job for the rest of my life maybe and work on writing or other stupid ass hobbies. I don't want to slave away for 40+ hours a week to retire one day when I'm 70 with social security being gone... I could care less about having a family, that's the only reason I see really of seeking a high income job via a degree, but I feel like most people that do get those high income jobs are already on the grind in high school anyways.
So i'd say do it if you're generally interested in the subject (history, but this one is kind of pointless because you can literally learn more by reading in your free time) or if you want to fuck young bitches then you should go. Make sure you take advantage of whatever free programs your state has or poormaxx and get that sweet fafsa grant money. Otherwise you could probably make more with your own business in the long run
>>
>>84628497
I think I can deal with kids might as well try it out since I don't see many other options for me

>>84628524
Being a teacher seems like a nicer job than shitty retail but if you don't mind it then go for it
I don't see anything wrong with your plan if it works out
>>
>>84628535
Yeah my only worry is if one of them gets super dementia or super cancer and they have to sell the 1mil house they own now to cover their expenses, so it's not set in stone. I guess if that happens I'll just be poor and miserable.
Teaching is probably more rewarding but I imagine it's infinitely more taxing too, you have to deal with little shits bullying you, politics with other histrionic food teachers, parents bullying you and making impossible stupid demands, administrators with their infinite bullshit, a bullshit curriculum that prevents you from teaching a pedagogy that is a actually interesting or meaningful. As a retail grunt I can just fade into the background and ignore the pressure from up on high via kickback from my manager because no one wants to work retail so they're always hiring, so my expectation to perform is basically just be a semi-warm body.
Teaching is about the only other career I can imagine myself in, or like a customer service rep, but then I have to deal with the pressure of finding a good job, keeping that job etc. and what do I get out it at the end of the day? Maybe ~40% more income but basically no free time and a ton more stress? Hardly seems worth it
>>
>>84628422
You were the one sperging out because someone posted anime on an anime website. Are you lost or something?
>>
>>84628535
yeah as long as you don't put yourself in crazy debt getting the degree, I think go for it. Getting that degree cant be too hard if 18yr old bimbos can do it.
A plan is better than no plan (I say this as someone about the same age as you and that other anon, and have no plan since my career prospects died)
>>
>>84628342
are you not worried beiung old when you graduate you wont get a cute girlfriend because your older and cute women are usually youngish and the fertile ones gotta be under like 35 or so? thats my main worry not trying to create extra worries in ya but i guess im selfishly going through mine to see what ya think
>>
>>84628494

>>

no
do it
>>84628043
fuck you
>>
>>84628572
I can understand your point but I doubt it's that stressful being a teacher unless you are actually that much into it
I can also always go back to my parents house and use your strategy so I'm not that beholden to any higher up bullshit policy or have to accept shitty situations
If things go badly I'll just quit and leave and look for another school

>>84628593
I would go for the cheapest available option so it should be alright

>>84628613
No I'm fine with my life right now
>>
>>84628679
Idk, any job where you have to slay a multi headed dragon of multiple expectations seems inherently stressful, there are so many conflicting expectations it's impossible to meet them all (do I help the kids, do I just do what their parents want, do I do what other teachers want (I imagine most teachers actually replicate the cliques of high schools, especially female ones), do I do what the school administrators want, etc)? This is why I imagine their burnout rate is higher than average. I can't imagine a straight forward teaching job except in instances where you work for a ghetto underfunded school where no one cares about the kids except you, but in that case 80% of the children are already traumatized, literally starving or filled with slop, or just plain don't show up, which carries a whole different host of problems, or maybe working as a sub. Teaching at a postdoc level seems pretty chill but that is an infinite grind and the chance of getting a tenured or even full time position is just so low
>>
>>84628668
weh weh seethe
>>
>>84628708
I think you are operating on the principle that I should or would care about the expectations. I don't really care about it. Am I going to care about the kids? Sure, that's normal human behavior to try to help kids but I'm not going to go out of my way.
I'll just do my job and that's it.
>>
>>84628776
My point though is that the politics of all the other entities I listed will make you care about their expectations whether you want to or not, or else they will put up roadblocks that will make your job impossible or just downright miserable. Teachers in particular are forced to care about this extraneous expectations. If you want a simple no bullshit job, just go in do the work come home, I don't think teaching generally or often offers that opportunity. At least at first. I imagine once you become entrenched in a certain role your seniority gives you more wiggle room. Probably as a male too the expectation is at a lower threshold, but you will also be selected against for females with the exact same credentials. As a 35 year old male meet, your credentials are already far behind the average so it will be an uphill battle
>>
>>84628805
I imagine being an ESL is also much less demanding, but then the trade off is you have to work in a foreign country for a foreign (much less lucrative, no pension) salary. Another benefit to that though is you can do that with literally any bachelor's, so you could pursue something much easier and less stressful, more lucrative but probably more boring like finance, and just use ESL teaching as a backup plan.
>>
>>84628776
Also if you just want to teach kids, you could always shoot for pre-k. Those types of jobs are much less selective, the expectations are minimal too, although your gender may be even more of an issue there, and they don't require a degree at all. Why not get your feet wet first?
>>
>>84628805
>My point though is that the politics of all the other entities I listed will make you care about their expectations whether you want to or not, or else they will put up roadblocks that will make your job impossible or just downright miserable
That's only true for normies. I'm not ambitious and I don't care about politics and cliques. Also if people get too uppity thinking they can start bullshit with me through policy or office politics I'll just leave. I'm already a neet and don't mind going back to it. I don't have a NEED to work and can always count with my parents to feed me.
I did once already when I was working at a corp and HR started doing stupid rules and I just told them I was quitting and stopped showing up.

>>84628844
I'm not sure I could change diapers without being disgusted but maybe I'll look into it. Thanks for the idea
>>
>>84628630
So you did call someone an aspiring child rapist because they posted anime on an anime website.
>>
>>84627982
There are people going to college in the mid 40s and 50s for the first time, it's never too late to educate yourself and get a better career.
>>
>>84628863
>HR started doing stupid rules
But teaching is just this but times a thousand. Don't understand why you would think your a good fit for it to begin with.
My point is not about whether you care or not, it's that you will have to care or you won't have a job... There is a very slim minority of schools that want an unambitious autistic male to teach children, the expectations on you will be even greater than the average food fresh out of college. Essentially you will be endlessly shit tested to prove your worth, and it sounds like you are most definitely not up to taking on those tests. And if you keep leaving schools where the other teachers or HR baddies hate you... Eventually no one will want to hire you. It's a high risk low reward career for someone like you (the risk being your time and money spent in school).
But if you really think it's a good career path for you, and you don't want to change diapers, maybe try being a sub first before committing four years of your life at the minimum? There is basically no expectations that you have to fulfill there and you can still help kids out.

My coolest friend in university was 34 or so. The only problem was that he worked, so he was mega gradecucked and had no fucking free time. I don't know how he graduated. He works as an English teacher (second language, so it actually makes money) nowadays, so his plan worked.
... I miss him, he was the only one worth shit. I moved to another city. I should visit him.
