>prokaryotes have the CRISPR mechanism to resist diseases which allows them to create a biological database of foreign DNA
>Prokaryotes have horizontal gene transfer mechanisms in plasmids which allows multiple bacteria to share resistances with each other
>Eukaryotes are supposedly evolved from prokaryotes but have neither of these two incredibly useful mechanisms
>Humans are forced to develop science to gain soemthing they supposedly had billions of years ago
Yeah I thought evolution had a case but it's out of the question in my mind now.
No way would any prokaryotes actually ditch CRISPR and plasmids to become weak to diseases just so they can become multicellular

Because if humans had the ability to be able to mix and match their DNA as easily as bacteria, we would have a plethora of diseases due to our genome constantly being altered. Getting AIDs from hand holding or kissing would actually be a thing if humans could do HGT.

Humans are trying to make a CONTROLLED version of this through gene therapy and CRISPR.
>>
>>10061708
Those mechanisms could have evolved in prokaryotes after eukaryotes diverged.

Prokaryotes don't maximize utility, and you yourself said that their genetic makeup is extremely volatile. Random shit coming up and surviving through dumb luck is common.

that is an interesting idea... has it been done before? also i've heard one of the reasons why quantum computing is important is because it helps better simulate quantum systems. it is actually a rather interesting new twist on computing, though a lot of pop sci stuff about it are very misleading

i definitely recommend these two:

https://quantumexperience.ng.bluemix.net/qx/tutorial

https://quantumexperience.ng.bluemix.net/qx/tutorial?sectionId=full-user-guide&page=introduction

also maybe some vids on yt... i am not sure if you are gunna be able to make a startup at all, but reading into some of this stuff wouldn't hurt! there is computational chemistry too which i don't know much about (though i do have a decent idea on quantum computing)... oh um... if you wouldn't mind, we could always study some of this stuff on a new thread...
>>
>>10066797
That's cool. I haven't considered quantum computing at all till now. Isn't quantum computing too advanced for someone like me with no maths in my background?
>>
>>10065657
This is called in silico or computational biology and literally every major pharmaceutical company and medical research group already does this.

Although that's not to say you couldn't make valuable contributions to the field, it's still a young and ever expanding area of research but it certainly isn't novel.

you need to be familiar with linear algebra, and also complex numbers. that'd allow you to grasp the basics rather easily... i was actually surprised at how little linear algebra you really need to be familiar with to get a good grasp of how the gates work. advanced stuff would take more advanced math, but i think it is doable if you are determined. i guess they are necessary if you want to plan sophisticated algorithms as simply using ta circuit and blochsphere visualization can be rather myopic. i personally haven't looked too deep into the field - i just remember going through it when i was 16 during class because i was bored

some vids/series that may help too:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNk_zzaMoSs&list=PLZHQObOWTQDPD3MizzM2xVFitgF8hE_ab

https://youtu.be/F_Riqjdh2oM

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1826E60FD05B44E4

ofc if you have no math background, studying math wouldn't help. i don't know a good guide on doing so... they all look like memes, though i am doing pic related i wouldn't recommend it desu. this level of rigour is probably rather unnecessary, but i'd have to brainstorm my own study guide for qc

if there's any other anons, if you can pitch in, do!

Big pharma and stuff. I don't make connections at college and never had a job before so maybe that's why.
>>
>>10066987
you can always make connections now anon! it is never too late!

aren't there any conferences relating to biotech or whatever? you could meet people there... but yeah, that is definitely something that may hinder you.

as for never having a job... did you ever do any research at the uni you graduated from? that could look rather attractive
>>
>>10067050
Research aside from the thesis?
Nah
>>
When in was in school and had macroevolution shoved down my throat on a daily basis, I believed it. Then, when I graduated and became a working scientist, and saw how the scientific method actually works, I started to question it.

Fast forward 2 decades since graduation (yes, I'm really fucking old) & my mind hasn't been under constant infection by the Ivory Towers, I no longer believe in macroevolution. And yes, it is a belief, not any different than believing in God. It's just a different God you're praying to.

>>
>>10068776
Do you have a graduate degree?
>>
>>10068935
nope, i am just an undergrad. i figure it would be best for me to build strong connections with professors early and such based on the only accelerating increase of competition we've been seeing in stem

in the uni i am in, i know they have posters and stuff that advertise future conferences, and our profs are world-class too, so i figured it would be smart to take advantage of that. not to mention the fact that there are still research opportunities for undergrads and stuff
>>
>>10069024

look I didn't mean to offend that much but while I may be as fascinated by anime as you, I really am, I'm also really ashamed that I have to share my fascination with someone that has to sexualize almost everything รก la rule34.

There is a place and time for romantics, erotics and sex but it's not everywhere imho and it's definitely not while others are having a discussion about genetic engineering.
