As a applied math major what the fuck should I do outside classes? Give me ideas for capstone projects or anything because I am lost as fuck since I was told a 4.0 GPA is worthless worthless if you don''t do shit.

What are you studying applied math for? What are you interested in? Surely you can figure out some quantitative role/internship you can fill somewhere...you have a 4.0 right? Look at hedge funds or something. Figure it out given you’re smart enough to do so

My math department head scared the shit out of me telling me that engies with 2.0s with extra curricular shit will have a better shot at a job than me. All I want to be is a professor and he is telling me I will have to do 10-15 years private industry to become one.
