Also, there's a thing called the DNCG in France that watches over club debt. And that thing means that with their debt estimated at 250M€ , Barça wouldn't play in Ligue 1 at all. To be honest, La Liga would barely have 10 clubs in it if they had to face the DNCG. It happened to Stransbourg or Le Mans; this summer SC Bastia got not only relegated from Ligue 1 due to poor results, but the DNCG further banned them to D3. Since they also defaulted they could've landed at the bottom echelon but they were "saved" from this and landed in D5.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Football Manager. The Tactics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the role of Enganches most of the scout report improvements will go over a typical player's head. There's also Miles' nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his game - his game design philosophy draws heavily from Ancient Persian Scaphism Torture techniques, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the simulation, to realize that they're not just simulations of football matches- they simulate something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Football Manager truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the elegance in Miles' existencial catchphrase "This years release has several game changing new features," which itself is a cryptic reference to The epic Greek tale of the Ship of Theseus. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Sports Interactive's genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a tattoo of my star Regen. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 Working with Youngsters points of myself (preferably lower) beforehand.

Having been doing a journeyman save for a while now some of the "protect the big clubs" measures I've seen are ridiculous:
>can only get relegated from the Argentina Primera Division if your average points over two seasons are amongst the third lowest at the end of a season
>the bigger team is always drawn as the home side in Italy's cup tournament
>every round of Spain's cup has two legs so if the bigger team fails to win the first game they still get a chance to obliterate their opponents in the second game
>Nacional and Penarol play all their away games at Uruguay's national stadium - mostly so that their fans can turn all their away games into home games by completely outnumbering the little amount of home fans that will turn up - these games are also every other club's biggest source of income so they're trapped
>>
>>78751359
>every round of Spain's cup has two legs so if the bigger team fails to win the first game they still get a chance to obliterate their opponents in the second game

also ensures that the small team gets a lot of revenue if they draw a top team
>>
>>78751429
good point, but have many Spanish smaller teams been able to have long runs in the Copa del Rey like smaller English clubs can in the English FA Cup? A lot of smaller clubs have made the final itself in the past 10 years alone.

With "places shots" you'll often see your player basically passing the ball to the goalkeeper. With shoots with power, IF the shots is going on target, then it will likely go in, even if a gk manages to get his hands on it.

Just make him not shoot from distance

Regens from South America are similar: lots of Hurtados or Jhons from Colombia for example. I saw lot of Rodriguezs in Uruguay, and Arces in Argentina - to the point where I only ever saw like 'E. Funny since I never had success with "Shoots With Power" with this guy, to the point I had him unlearn it. He just was hitting hard without thinking about anything and not scoring much more than he usually did. That said, why teach a Finishing PPM to a player with 19 Finishing and who shouldn't need too many opportunities to bury it anyway...

OTOH, I've found "Places Shots" can make keepers very, very retarded. They see the ball rolling on the ground and they let it in because "it's placed so well".
>>
>>78766763
>>78756460
>I've found "Places Shots" can make keepers very, very retarded
this, although I guess it could be that the ME just doesn't display what's happening very well

also players with good technique/finishing/decisions/visions/who knows what else tend to finish with power when it's appropriate. I've got portuguese striker right now who scores 80% of his goals by hammering it in high at the near post from various distances, and his only finishing PPM is "likes to round keeper"
>>
>>78767174
>this, although I guess it could be that the ME just doesn't display what's happening very well
I suppose SI could pretend that the ball rolled over a bump and hence troubled the keeper and his club should've relayed the pitch. Perhaps.

>also players with good technique/finishing/decisions/visions/who knows what else tend to finish with power when it's appropriate
Ah, the extra redundant "good players know what to do even without PPMs". Which is entirely true of course, which is why I only give "mission critical" PPMs for player I want to do something really specific.

Sometimes FM create history for some players by linking them to random clubs. I don't know why on Earth it's a thing but it happens.

wow, its FUCKING NOTHING. all of these things already existed. I guess its nice that you dont have to go through hoops to find out about the cohesion anymore, but man I hoped this would be something that adds a layer of challenge. But nope, its just a GUI update. Well, its better than nothing, but they should really stop shilling this dynamics shit as if it was a new addition to the game.
>>
>>78790445
Oh, and we had hierarchy before too, which can be found out about when your assman suggests who to make captain (the order of the player list represents the hierarchy of the players). Players get mad about the appointment if you dont pick the clear leader of the team as a captain, even if he doesnt have the best attributes etc.
Again, nothing new.

SI are so fucking lazy
>>
>>78790445
Yes, it has been in place since CM3 without having an own screen.
>>
>>78790445
It was evident from the very first leaked screenshot that that was all it was. Dunno why you're mad like it was unexpected.
I'm ok with it, will be nice to see it clearer and easier even if it isn't a massive addition.
>>
>>78790517
Well, true. This was one of the worst things of the game with regard to clarity of information, finding out team cohesion was always a fucking bitch and they constantly moved the location of that screen around between iterations too.

I think the group thing is new, at least to this extent. I hope they put a lot of weight on that aspect and make players hold grudges. Like, if I piss off a cunt like Ribery because I didnt start him/sell him even tho he asked me to, I'd like his circle to hate me forever and actively do shit until I get fired or get rid of them.
It's too bad that we all know how it's going to end up, though - player gets mad over nothing, you don't cave and move him to the u17s for a bit, promote him back to the seniors, and everybody forgets about it after a month. Same with players who want to move and then extend their contract 3 months later. The game is so stupid.

There were a few of these paradoxes in the previous video as well. I wonder what goes on at SI if 100 staff or so don't notice things like this before the release of the video, or mor seriously, the finished game.
>>
>>78792264
So far I've noticed that SI prefers to push out new "features" rather than ironing out what they already have, so things like this are bound to happen and aren't treated with the highest level of priority.

I noticed that you can see a graphical representation of your stadium on the background of the screens (similar to that shown before/after matches), and since these are only screenshots, I guess there will be a possibility of a rotating 3D overhead view of your stadium as a background on your club info-related screens.

Enjoy your 10 months of holiday.
>>
>>78803212
is it like finland where you get ~1 month off because there's some long, retarded cup the board doesn't care about shoved into the middle of the season?
>>
>>78803390
League ends in November, starts in April, so you spend 5 months doing nothing. I think the longest pre-season is only 7 weeks.
>>
>>78803390
There is a winter holiday from around November-March/April, and then a summer holiday during June/July~Euro Cup/World Cup
>>
>>78803249
For me, when I was managing in Norway, once you got to the place where you can get to CL knockouts it was fucking awful.
>Season ends
>Everybody fucks off
>Set longest possible pre-season
>Still only have about 2-3 weeks to get everybody back into shape for the most important match of their career
>Then have 2 weeks before 2nd leg where you're balancing keeping people match fit and fending off the injuries you've picked up through trying to get them match fit
>>
>>78803610
A few players go on loan to get some playing time during the winter, but I guess most of them train indoors for a few months.
>>
>>78803390
In Uruguay the season ends in mid December and begins again at the start of Febuary. In the middle of the year there is a 2.5 month long break from the league but its used for a league and playoff final cup competition that the board doesn't care about.

You reminded me that there's exactly one regen worth of starting games for Slovenia and perhaps one 4th choice GK in a decade. Ten seasons and one worthwhile regen that actually has developed (who knows about the shitters who didn't make it). The rest are all ageing real players. Sad!
>>
>>78803212
I'm sure Brann's decent rep can make you springboard to some big money foreign job though. And atleast it gives you time to thoroughly look for new signings.
>>
>>78805772
That's FM for you. Ireland and Wales always go to shit because the domestic leagues are bad and the game doesn't account for the fact that they all come through English academies very well. Bugs me. The only one that ever goes properly is Scotland because they have Celtic and Rangers etc.
>>
>>78806209
I haven't seen wales have that problem personally, they always seem to get a really good regen every year or two somewhere in england, and their current team is kind of a crazy alignment of the stars. ireland for sure though, yeah. and FM seems to try to compensate for it by generating a relatively huge number of decent players at irish teams, who inevitably don't get picked up by teams in bigger leagues and so don't develop

Well I'm trying. I like that the league seems to be low key enough that you don't have vultures breathing down your neck like there was when I managed in Norway. Even for players who really could hack it at least in a Sky Bet level. But the downside is that there's very little money to go around so any form of growth is very slow. The champions league money did give me enough to start upgrading facilities finally.
>>
>>78807168
No foreign player or work permit rules makes it easy. Now that you have CL money you can buy the league and domination just becomes about wise investment.
>>
>>78807229
Sadly still kind of a "one and done" crew as far as continental competitions go unless I draw from some meme nation. Which I haven't so far. Getting to the next round would've be a really big boost to the club.

Play Out Of Defence, (for your GK) Distribute to CBs/FBs, Pass It Shorter, Less Risky Passes, etc. Else you won't be playing much football. It's just how the ME is: even Barça hoofs the ball while they perfectly know they have no players who can win headers.
>>

it's like you're having an entirely different conversation. but thanks all the same, that is good advice and I'm sure it will be useful to someone
>>
>>78810814
>it's like you're having an entirely different conversation
Not really. Just telling you as it is: TMs are garbage, and tall strikers who are decent with the ball and at least have decent Bravery are a dime in a dozen. Just forget it. And the ME insists on hoofing it to them regardless of their height while your players logically should know your striker isn't able to win headers on his own. Ironically not winning headers will be severely counted against him if he doesn't score.
>>
That feel when looking through scout reports for any talented teens on the radar and I find that Real Madrid's B side have a 17 year old striker with a ridiculous amount of 14s/15s among his attributes that they poached from France. That's just deflating.

i basically have 4 good regens, but the most important player is Jorginho since he is basically the only good DM Italy has since De Rossi is too old now.

If i didnt make an italian only save i would have probably won much sooner and quit the save much sooner, so this gives it some longevity and fun. Might move to Germany soon in the same save and do the same thing, but only after i win the champions league.

At least in fm15 the Italian regens were still damn good (usually). Still, working towards only having italians may be a challenge especially if you want to buy someone from a league rival and they go "lmao give me 80m for this 16y/o cunt"
>>
>>78822038
It was pretty easy, and since i will probably leave before these regens hit like their primes in their 24-26th age it didnt matter too much. Dona can be replaced by Murru, Silvestri can be replaced by Florenzi, and i had a romagnoli-rugani defense but since rugani fucked up too much i sold him and put my regen in his place.

Since you only spend on italian players, and you can abuse parachute payents in 15 (not sure if you can in other versions), its not too much of a hard job to get the best italians, but i suppose i got lucky as the only top players i bought from rivals are Jorginho from Napoli and Romagnoli from Roma.

Are you doing well, at least? I'd honestly see no problem in a manager doing that as long as the NT performed.

Stamina desu

I probably shouldn't but i guess it feels like there's a very narrow range of values for it, like I'll never see either a 19-20 or a good player (not old) who is let down by his stamina
>>
>>78825806
I could understand individual players being upset (ie. I'm better than the starter at [position] but since I'm not in the nt managers club I won't get caps) but I wouldn't complain unless you severely underperform. Tbh though, the media is always looking for something to crucify you for.

>>
>>78826513
If you're a small team don't spend money on player transfers. Loans and frees are your friend.
>>
>>78826574
Loaning is a meme unless it's from another country's league. If it's from the same league or from one above then you're just helping to develop players that will be used against you in the future.
>>
>>78826513
My advice would be - don't use wingers. Narrow formations work wonders. Wingbacks are OP.

Is this something that's coded into the game? There are press conferences in which I say nothing bad about the other manager, yet the questions seem to be trying to start fights between managers.
>>
>>78826513
Buying youth during early days might be good if you want to sell them on, but they won't develop effectively before your facilities have been upgraded, so young players bought when your facilities and staff are poor, will rarely amount to much. Focus first on free transfers/loan and on results and whatever way you can get money to upgrade your facilities as quickly as possible. Buy only young players if you are certain that you can sell them on for even more money.
>>
>>78826786
>Is this something that's coded into the game?
Yeah, compare your answers with the report of the conference the next day, they always make whatever you say more controversial.
>>
>>78826786
Yes, you will notice that some journalists have descriptions like 'hateful', 'dishonest' or 'deceptive'. Mind what you are saying to them, as they will make drama out of anything.
>>
>>78826574
yeah ive only bought free youth players. dont like loans but will have to see when the trans window opens soon
>>
>>78826789
whatabout buyin youth and throwing in them in the first team. will they develop that way?
>>
>>78827003
If you are in a lower division, try looking for a senior affiliate to get in good players on loan without having to pay their wages.
>>
https://twitter.com/milesSI/status/917452639209746434
Oh yes. This should've existed for ages desu
>>
>>78827113
It will help, but good facilities is the key to develop at the highest relative rate, so this is a question of getting attributes to increase by only one point per year, to ideally something like three or whatever the max amount is.
What will most likely happen in the beginning, is that good talents will attract the attention of higher clubs, and will be sold by your chairman if you try to keep them.

£35 for a few extra metres of visible grass in each bottom corner.
>>
>>78828347
I don't think the board will ever sell youngsters though. Because the vulture leagues will always try to do a lowball bid and a meme % of next sale clause which isn't exactly an offer you can't refuse. But if they keep circling you have to brush up on your man managing skills to convince the players to stay.
>>
Will ye pray for us lads?
>>
>>78828513
I never liked Wales much outside of their flag anyway
>>
>>78828484
Man managing is not a big issue, but an interfering board that accepts offers on your behalf (you don't always get a chance to protest transfers) is why I gave up managing in Norway. But this will be different from board to board, chairman to chairman depending on their interference attribute.
>>
>>78828579
I never had a board accept offers on my behalf in Brann at least. But I was really bad at handling my squad and the constant harassment of nonstop offers so I ended up selling a few of my players. The greatest meme though was Liverpool who wanted one of my youngsters for 5 grand Norwegian and % of next sale, obviously I told them to fuck off and nothing ever came of that.
>>
>>78828513
Not unless a player from Bohemians FC is represented.
>>
>>78828685
I've had some spells with a few 2nd Div clubs, and once experienced five players being sold within the summer transfer window by the board/chairman after first protesting the transfer. After rejecting a few bids myself, and setting a high asking price, they then accepted worse offers and accepted 'without needing my input' or something along those lines. I guess that won't be such a problem if the club gains the reputation of, say, Brann, Molde or Rosenborg.

To be honest, passing the ball towards the goal should be a bannable offence. You never know: the ball may bounce just before the keeper controls it (which happens so fucking often on garbage pitches, which is most pitches), a marauding striker may poach it, the keeper may be sleeping on his line, etc.
