I'm not a Ford GT fan at all. I fucking hate the GTs more than the 911 RSRs.

I hate Chip Ganassi racing in EVERY series that I watch. I wish Scott Dixon would fucking retire, i'm so sick of his boring, snide demeanor in Indycar. I hate them in IMSA because i'm a Vette guy in that series and the fords have been given so much favortism in that series that its almost unwatchable.

Anyway, as i was saying. Get fucked faggot.

Not Toyota's fault if the competition suddenly can't afford to race anymore because of emission scandals. They probably spend more money than all the private P1 teams combined and spend it for the top class, they better be the fastest, regardless of how many people they race against.

Yes, it's stupid to have a class with one team only in it and yes,the races are boring as all fuck like that, but it's not like Toyota is at fault for being the only competitor left.

The ACO is desperately trying to keep the race interesting by making privates go faster so it kinda sorta looks like they can fight for the top, but there isn't really much they can do.
Either you give privateers as much power as hybrids (and piss off the only noteworthy LMP team) or let Toyotas go as fast as they want and have the most boring races ever.

It's a fucked up season and Toyota brings a lot of money to the championship. Gotta keep them aboard and make the races seem interesting at the same time, you can't make everyone happy.

That's not real racing. If the other two teams take a dive then you tell Toyota to scale things back and get into regular LMP 1 or let them leave. They aren't worth enough to make the series unwatchable. What's even more disgusting is how much they fellate these fucking bought and paid for champions in their media. It's like they're forcing a narrative.

>>84286380
If Toyota was running with the same EoT parameters as the privateers they'd probably be further ahead than they are, while throwing money down a pit to make a new car for like one season in doing so. They've scaled down a lot, this year they're possibly a bit slower than last year because they've kept the same car and beefed parts up to make them more reliable or easier to work on, whereas in 2017 they were 6 seconds faster than the year before.

Worth noting that the Rebellion that's broadly the most competitive non-hybrid was really last minute and will have significant developments for the post Le Mans sprint races and next year's Le Mans.

qualifications have the usual function of determining the positions of the starting grid based on which car is has the fastest time, but there's more
that's because endurance racing involves LOOOONG races that test the reliability of a car, multiple sessions of testing and qualifying take place before the race are needed, teams involve multiple drivers for each car that all need time to practice and need to come up with an appropriate setup
you will see that pit stops are much longer than in F1 as the teams take more time to clean the vehicle, check for imperfections, and of course the famous driver changes
you could say that the car never, ever stops being tested and researched

Each team must designate two drivers to take part in the qualifying session.

The two drivers from each crew must each set at least one timed lap during qualifying. The average of the two best lap times (the best from each driver) will serve as the reference time for establishing the grid.

Each qualifying session lasts for 20 minutes and includes a pit stop to change driver.

I know that i'm just not a fan of it. Unfortunately you can't have everything.

Different tastes for different people. I have a softspot for prototypes, everyone calls them ugly but i like the look of pure aero.
>>
>>84321279
Mercedes has AMG Project One, McLaren has the Senna GTR, Ferrari has the LaFerrari and FXX K Evo, Porsche has the 918, even tiny insignificant manufacturers are making 1000hp hybrid hypercars in their garage and presenting them at car shows, might as well do a GT1-like racing division with this shit and let LMP1 die
oil sheiks roll in road legal hypercars, not prototypes
>>
>>84321331
I can appreciate that, but I just don't like modern LMP Cars that are so blocky because it feels like they have to tack on the fenders and the cockpit because the car is so low, it feels too minimalist, like instead of making a car aerodynamic, they're turning an air foil into a car. Daytona Prototypes hit the sweet spot between production look and aerodynamics, reminds me of Group C cars.
>>
>>84321391
that's why I asked why would anyone want to race in LMP1 if they can race with their hypercars. The American suggested this: LMP1 > Hypercar > GTE
>>

Honestly I am not seeing too much pulling power here champ. I could see a split like the CART/Indy shit going down a treat. You WEC boys shouldn't feel bullied by the big mean old French men

did they unfuck themselves, enough to get in front of the LMP2s?
>>
>>84323240
And why is that? I imagine the teams are sick of the ACO at this point and who knows. Maybe a real FIA series would attract some manufacturers?

The big names left for reasons with VAG internally, unrelated to racing or WEC or ACO.

Toyota? One, might even need to use it for more than just Le Mans now I can't remember.
LMP1 privateers? As many as they want.
LMP2 are all on the same lease with a set mileage that will go way further than this race.

>this mentally retarded bong thinking a series that is 47% prototypes should drop prototypes for a GT class that is completely pointless without prototypes to make itself a completely redundant clone of Blancpain Endurance
The percentage is only even that low because so many prototype teams are in ELMS instead of the double meme season. Le Mans itself is 50/50 and only because they turned down tons of LMP2s to get in Ford and Porsches 4 GT cars each and actually have a reasonable number of GTE Am cars.

P1s (both sub classes) have 5 engines per season
P2s and GTs have unlimited engines and they usually swap for a new or a low mileage one for the race. The engine that did the official testing two weeks ago is most likely not the same that will do the race, as pretty much everything else in the cars
