I've been working on collecting a bunch of anime and sorting 'em by decade. The goal isn't to collect EVERY anime series, movie, OVA, etc, but just to get alot of the notable ones. So far I've finished the seventies and before and am working on the 80s as I write this.

1970s magnet (330GB):

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:5BCD6F29EEC1A321343CCF2173A2EB1F0639CE44&dn=1970s&tr=http%3a%2f%2ftracker.coppersurfer.tk%3a6969%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2fopen.demonii.com%3a1337%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80%2fannounce&ws=

Seeding will be slow for a week or two.

I'll be posting the new torrents here first in magnet, then uploading the file to a torrent site. 80s should be coming soon, stay tuned on the 90s. I don't want to go over 500gb for any torrent so future decades. especially the 2000s will be released in parts.
>>
What's in the 70s collection?

80s might be twice as big as the 70s. Lot's of great anime came out then. I've got Dragon Ball and DBZ already, Urusei yatsura, Ranma 1/2, lot's of ghibli stuff, fist of the north star, more gundam, akira, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and I'm downloading tons more, altoghether the 80s might have 100+ shows depending on if some dead torrents start seeding. 90s will be even bigger, probably a two or three parter, and as for the 00s, god only knows.

>>789102
I'm definitely conflicted about the 00s. Lot's of anime that I hate came out then, but I don't feel it's my place to exclude them just because I hate them. For example, I hate moe, but lot's of people love it, therefore available shows are staying in.

Just an update on the 80s;

1980 is done, working on 1981, which I have a good amount of already.

As for the 70s torrent, download rates should be reaching what your download speed is as more people get more of the files downloaded. Pretty sure one or two people have reached 100%, but I have no way of checking that.

I'll seed to 5.0 then upload it to TPB, just to get more of it out there before ton of people start trying to leach.

All the 70s shows are complete, hence why there are so few of them. Most pre-80s shows aren't available complete, or at all, online so I didn't include those.

The way it's looking right now the 2000s will be released in 1-2 year chunks.

Are these fansubs (who did the subs?) or official releases? Pic/Sound quality specs? Thinking of picking up Gatchaman, Lupin the III, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, and Cutie Honey.
>>
OP you're already off to a part start, I don't mean to be mean but 330GB for 1970's alone is pretty low and indicative that you're not going with highest possible quality (BD remasters).

I took a quick look at this 330GB and already I can see that your Lupin isn't likely the BD remaster, neither is Gatchaman, Heidi, Yamato, MSG too.

There's probably a few I missed.
>>
>>792378
Provide an alternative.
>>
>>792447
>an alternative

Cute, but you'll need to use a tracker like AB or BBT to get some really definitive availability.

Even getting just the notable ones you're looking at a few dozen terabytes.
>>
>>792449
So you're saying you don't have a reasonable alternative.
>>
>>792451

Yeah I do, it's called AB and BBT.

>go there
>sort quickly by the year it released
>set cut off dates to whatever and whenever

easy.
>>
>>792452
Private Trackers and Placebo Quality encodes aren't reasonable alternatives for most.
>>
>>792455

>placebo quality

Look, you clearly don't know what you're talking about if you think larger encodes for older series are 'placebo'. They're the most non-compressionable anime due to copious amounts of delicious grain.

It's your own fault if you can't get into AB or BBT, it's incredibly easy.
>>
>>792476
it's nocebo actually, he wants the film grain artifacts because it appeals to his fedora
>>
>>792517

It's original quality mate. Placebo would probably be keeping the uncompressed BDMVs.

If you're not going to acquire the very best quality, this is a pointless endeavour.
>>
>>792534
>this is a pointless endeavour
to you maybe. for others who don't require perfect 1:1 minimal compression encodes this works. please return to whatever kino sewer you crawled out of.
>>
>>792563
>please return to whatever kino sewer you crawled out of.

The sewer of actually caring about the quality of the animated content I'm viewing? Especially because content from this era tended to have bouts of insane levels of good looking animation that we can only now properly appreciate in BD remasters?

You're not in some hugbox here, do things right or get called out.
>>
>>792456
>it's incredibly easy
If it were incredibly easy to gain access it would defeat the purpose of having a private tracker. Also grain was an excuse for overly large file sizes a decade and a half ago but with HEVC that argument is bullshit.
>>
>>792565
>If it were incredibly easy to gain access it would defeat the purpose of having a private tracker.

I don't know where you got it into your head that private trackers are hard to get into. Maybe some of them but BBT and AB are extremely accessible.

>Also grain was an excuse for overly large file sizes a decade and a half ago but with HEVC that argument is bullshit.

Grain isn't an excuse, it simply is a thing and lol at HEVC; 8-bit x265 is useless due to severe banding issues. 10-bit x265 solves the banding issue, but is still terrible - at similar encoding speeds and bitrates, it produces notably worse results than 10-bit x264. At slower encoding settings, the results are only about on par with 10-bit x264, but the encodes take 6-8 times longer. In summary, there is no benefit whatsoever to using x265 for one's high quality video encoding needs right now.

That's Stand Alone Complex in very high quality, plus a shitload of extras. Doesn't include the cinema movies etc

There's also this, at ~50 GB:

Also it's hardly realistic to be doing this as is with all the anime released in the late 90s on, so making everything 1080p just isn't realistic.

80s part 2 should be out today or tomorrow. It has the best version of Dragon Ball online IMHO. It is 480p but AFAIK there is no 1080p version of the first dragon ball series. there is of DBZ however.

Again, I'm not being smug but you just don't know.

The original master reels aren't quantified in the likes of 360p for old anime, they're measured in milimeter, that's where your remaster comes from and why so much improvements can be made for older stuff that was previously only available in a 360p distributed quality.

Quality matters because anime has never been more available than ever and now with older series it's especially important you grab it in it's remastered version (if it exists) because the difference between a proper remaster for BD release and a LD/VHS rip is insane.

DBZ is one of those complicated things where you have like 4 different re-releases and they all seem to change different things, I haven't looked into it much myself but you'll need a bit of comparison between the different releases first.

I am about to order a new external hard disk drive. can anyone tell me how much space It'd need to require? 2TB or is 1TB enough? at least for the 80s torrent.
I'll also seed the hell out of the torrents, thanks OP.
btw do you guys know of any good hard disk or bad one I should avoid?
>>
>>795134
Just open the torrents and see what you'll want.

If you're going to blindly download everything, you're better off getting a 2TB. If you're going to pick and choose, you'd probably be okay with a 1TB. (ex: Astroboy by itself is 100GB, Urusei Yatsura is 50GB, etc)

For reference:
1970s is 330GB
1980s pt1 is 452GB
1980s pt2 is 394GB

And Western Digital is a trustworthy brand, their Elements series and their Passport series of drives are pretty popular. Seagate is another good choice.
>>
>>795163
thank you senpai
>>
>>795134
Go as large as you can.

Speaking from experience: 1 TB is not enough, 2 TB is not really enough, and once you start to torrent collections and stuff like that: Not even 8 TB is enough. Before you know it you're downloading a 2 TB collection of fanzines, a 1,5 TB collection of your favourite pornstar, a 500 GB collection of some JAV studio... There's so much good stuff posted. A lot of it isn't even copyrighted/pirated, just collections of rare stuff that someone spent a lot of time on. But a single series like Game of Thrones in high definition can easily be 500 GB or more too, if you want to go that route.

If 2 TB is the largest you can go: Do it.

But if you can afford the 350$/€ or so for a 8 TB drive, I'd do that if I were you.

Just avoid shingled magnetic recording (SMR) for torrents! SMR is a technology used to squeeze extreme amounts of data into a drive, typically used on 10 TB drives. It means that the write head on the drive is bigger than the track, so overwriting also overwrites the neighbouring data. This means the drive will have to automatically move all the neighbouring data up to the nearest free space whenever you want to overwrite something. What the end user notices is that overwriting can be sloooow. SMB is fine for archives and backups that get written once and then just sit there, ready to be read. But it doesn't work well with torrents, because torrents write to the currently downloading files again and again at random offsets.

As for drive manufacturers, the word around here is that HGST is probably the most reliable brand. Seagate used to be very trusted ten years ago (with drives like the Seagate Barracuda IV), but a couple of years ago they released a drive that failed quite often, so they aren't as trusted anymore.
>>
>>795173
To be clear, since I see you want to order an external drive:

It's very possible to get a good external, USB 3 enclosure for around 50€/$. This would let you use an internal drive as external drive (you just put it into the enclosure and it becomes external...), which is what I was really thinking about when I mentioned 8 TB drives. Gives you more options.

Anyway, good luck! :)
>>
>>795173
>But if you can afford the 350$/€ or so for a 8 TB drive

You're far better off going for price per gigabyte rather than the largest drive capacities. Building yourself a little home server with zfs2 for redundancy can be a great thing to do.
>>

You can fit up to 11+ 3.5inch drives in some cheap cases ($100~ish).

>Or if you download huge torrents that won't fit together in a single smaller drive.

Which is why you should have your drives in a zfs1 pool. zfs2 preferably.

> You can fit up to 11+ 3.5inch drives in some cheap cases ($100~ish).

1. The limitation then is the motherboard. Most only support 4 SATA channels.

2. You're seriously telling him to spend 100€/$ on a brand new case and move all his PC components (power supply, motherboard, grapics card, etc.) into there by hand, just to avoid buying a drive which has the size he is really looking for?

> Which is why you should have your drives in a zfs1 pool. zfs2 preferably.

He's clearly a noob, and doesn't know what zfs1 is. Let alone how to configure it.

> scroll down to "The 4 TB Drive Enigma"

1. According to your own chart: Although the cost pr. GB of 8 TB drives isn't BELOW that of the 4 TB "price king", it's pretty much the same. If you wanna buy a new cabinet or whatever too, just to fit the smaller drives,,, Well...

2. 4 TB is still more than twice the drive size he was considering,
>>
>>795549
>1. The limitation then is the motherboard. Most only support 4 SATA channels.

Stop. You don't know what you're talking about.

>2. You're seriously telling him to spend 100€/$ on a brand new case and move all his PC components (power supply, motherboard, grapics card, etc.) into there by hand, just to avoid buying a drive which has the size he is really looking for?

Stop. I did not recommend moving his current setup into a new case. I recommended getting a standard PC case and other components to run a NAS rather than buying into limited and overpriced boxes.

>He's clearly a noob, and doesn't know what zfs1 is. Let alone how to configure it.

So? I don't care if somebody is too retarded to do something, I'm always going to give best advice. Anybody too dumb to follow it despite ample documentation should be rightly told off as being fucking retarded.

>Although the cost pr. GB of 8 TB drives isn't BELOW that of the 4 TB "price king", it's pretty much the same.

$0.025 per GB for 4TB compared with $0.038 for 8TB is not pretty much the same.. you're paying 152% more per GB for 8TB. You can get 12TB worth of space if you buy 3x 4TB drives instead of a single 8TB drive.

Dude BD-XL is way more expensive per GB than multi-TB harddrives, that doesn't even make sense in any way.
Also,
>organising hundreds of individual disks
>constantly inserting and removing different disks
While regular BD recordables are slightly cheaper than HDs, you need even more of them so the disk juggling alone makes it a nightmare.
If you want to go that route, the only thing that makes sense is LTO-7 (or maybe LTO-6) tapes, but while the tapes are cheap per TB, the drives are fucking expensive.

also this is OP. Forgot to tripfag. Not that it matters, really.

Also in regard to storage, If you're gonna be downloading anything over 100TB LTO-7 Is in fact the most cost-effective, although the up-front cost is insane. when LTO-8 comes out I'll probably get one of those, and if not then when LTO-9 comes out I'll probably have enough money for one of those drives by then, I do believe BDXLs are the cheapest if you buy in bulk of at least 50. Not sure on that though and I'm not sure why anyone would want to deal with 50 discs, if only to save 40 bucks or whatever.

1990s part 1 should be out by the end of the month.
>>
Also LMK if 1980s part 3 Isn't seeding and you're trying to download it.
>>
>>795955
BDXLs must be bought In large bulk for it to be cheap, but that's almost impossible, and still more expensive than most everything.

>>796085
My math was wrong BDXL is insane unless you buy in equally insane bulk. Let's just say decimal points have never been my strong suit.

BD-R 25GB IS very cheap, but not worth the hassle IMO. I'll probably invest in some for my non-anime files though.

I actually backup all my downloads on BD-R. Not even sure why, my internet keeps getting faster and I could probably download things again before finding the right disk.
But then torrents eventually go seedless, DL links die, and stuff disappears all the time, so I guess it's just good old paranoia.

I watch alot of stuff on my TV via the USB input on my blu-ray player. Thing is, my PS4 obviously also has a blu-ray player and USB inputs which would negate the need for a second blu-ray player, if not for the fact that drives have to be reformatted for the ps4 in order to work. Investing in BD-Rs would fix that problem as I could just use the blu-ray drive rather than have another blu-ray player sitting right on top of my PS4. Oh, and I mention my TV only has on HDMI port? That's fun.

>>796085
op, tapes are a bad idea. If you have never used them, prepare much more money than you think you need, or forget about the whole thing. The big problem I found when I did this was that these things are insanely fast, and there's no way around it, they can't be set to a slower mode, and when they get stalled, they drive the tape in reverse to reposition it again, and this degrades the tape. It will not happen only once, it happens once every 10 seconds out of two hours of writing with a too slow PC. When they stream (meaning, the tape just zooms forward), it's pure bliss, but I ate my toenails a thousand times watching it go back and forth for hours. Not worth it. As source for my tests I used a raid0 of two 15K SCSI enterprise drives connected to a fast SCSI card on a PCI-X slot. Yes, the numbers added up, no, it didn't work. I could read from the array at more than 250 MB/s (this was when LTO-4 was current), yet I got only partial streaming. I just couldn't make it work.

I stopped using it. The drive was from my company, as were the disks and the cards. Otherwise this would have cost upwards of 3-4000 Eur. The only thing I bought were IBM-certified tapes, and after a month of torture they started failing. The tapes must stream of they don't last. Reading is even worse, because PCs write sustained slower than they read, and the tape stops and starts even more.

My advice is use cheap spinning drives, buy the sweet spot, buy cheap SATA cards if you need them, as filesystem use zfs, well done, self-correcting, awesome all around, tolerates cheap shit, and is always online, which is a plus. Don't think it's easy to catalog everything you put into the tapes. Make one mistake, and you know it is there somewhere, but you have to go through some tapes before finding it. You must have seriously fast I/O, if you are thinking of LTO-7.

Oh, and thanks for your hard work op!

>>
>>796359
Are you trolling or are you so dumb as you look? By going to a store and exchanging money for hard drives? BTW hard drives need things to do what they do, for one they need electricity, did you know that?. DragonBall Z obviously
>>
>>799079
Anon..... I love you.
Are you seeding all these yourself? I only -just- finished 1970 after 2 weeks due to speeds, I'm horrified at the prospect of seeding stopping before it's all finished.

I for my part shall seed.

>>

>>

>>

Thank you so much for this everyone! Is there any word on 1990s part 2?
>>
>>801303
a couple series are downloading at 1-2 kb/s. both are above 80% so I knida don't want to drop 'em. If they're not done in a week I'll drop 'em but I really don't want to. They're both OVA's so it won't be a huge deal if they don't make it in.

Part 2 should be up in a week though

>>800235
Ya I seed them all at first, then throttle down the speed once I hit a 5.0 ratio. Right now every torrent is still seeding in QBittorrent, just most of them are throttled down so the newest ones can seed. as of writing this 1970s has a 7.3 ratio in qbittorrent and a 5.1 ratio in memetorrent 3.x, which is where I do most of my downloading. I feel it's better to keep the essentials in a reliable client like QBT and download in UT. It's a little harder on the CPU, but easier on my eyes when I see, like 6
important torrents in one client and keep all my clutter in another. I literally have over 500 torrents in UT. Any more than that and it will start to lag when scrolling.
>>
>>801600
There are categories in QBT, designed for just that
>>
How much storage would it take up if I were to download all of the magnets?
>>
>>801600
I really appreciate you seeding. I am currently pretty far in but things are down to 100Kb/s, which means I have a week until everything is downloaded. I would love to get this entire thing downloaded eventually, but 2 weeks is a slightly daunting ETA.

1980 part 2 has ~2 weeks left for me.

It seems to average 2-3 weeks per torrent but hey whaddya do?

I need to buy a new HDD literally for this collection. I'm almost out of space and I just bought a new 4tb a few weeks ago =\

>accidentally pressing enter before I've finished my post

I had to stop seeding 1980 Part 3 because my downloads HDD (only 1tb to be fair.... It wasn't ready for this) ran out of space..... I'm sorry those I've let down =(

1990s Part 2:

Sorry for being so late. I decided not to give up on the stuff I had downloading plus I got a better quality version of gundam wing at the last moment. Seeding will be slow for a couple days.

I'll be going out of town for thanksgiving so I won't be at my computer but I'll leave every thing up and running as is.

Hey guys, been feeling unwell and kind of rotten. Wanting to watch The Vision of Escaflowne in decent quality but have had some ups and downs finding the series in good quality without being downright unplayable on my older PC. Anyone able to point me in the direction of a torrent I can trust? Have tried a few but been disappointed with grey blocks on VLC or dubs only.

This is your first problem. Second, how old is "older"? I don't want to put in work finding one and have it not work for you.
>>
Have you got a good BD copy of NGE/EoE in there?
>>
>>804898
/t/ is a slow board. You need to check more than the first page. In fact you should make it a habit to use the catalog. That being said here. >>769174
>>
>>804919
I already found it, but it was too late to delete my post. Thanks anyway though!

>>
Does anyone hav naruto: shippuden eng sub magnet link?!.
>>
>>805829
There was a guy called Shareacross or something on /vp/ who posted once a year to share his updated Pokemon anime torrent that had literally everything up to, at the time, the Black & White season.
No idea if he's still around though.
>>
>>805829
if sub
not gonna happen so soon
johto has barely more than 5 episodes subbed, orange nothing and the indigo league has like 46/82

everything here pocketmonsters.edwardk.info
PM is the only group that subs pokemon nowadays...beside some-stuffs since like 20 sun&moon episodes
>>

Is subbed Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters in the collection? There's used to be a lot of good releases for it floating around but with the years the links have died.

I'm retarded. I completely misread. My bad, boys.

Have you tried any of the big dc++ repositories for any of the odd shows you're missing?
