This is great, thank you! Is there a similar torrent for electrical engineering to become well rounded in it?
>>
>>806008
there was one I got here months ago, it was like 27GB I think and covered a lot of materials. I don't know if it's still around, but I could upload it if anyone wants it (though I'd have to learn how to make a torrent first).
>>
>>805957
What's wrong with Sipser ?
>>
>>806236
Opinions.
>>
>>806234
I've got it downloaded. Over 15GB of it is complete trash.

There's a lot of duplicate files, very outdated books in the same folder as their newer counterparts, a bunch of files have shit-tier scan quality, some papers/books that are just utterly useless trash, annnnd yeahhh

You're better off Googling around for the subject you're interested in and doing your own research on books to buy, rather than DLing that torrent
>>
>>806355
does it have the newer counterparts though? that's the important thing. as for shit-tier scan quality, that's subjective
>>
>>805957
dude stfu, knowledge is knowledge. all the better textbooks have over the worse textbooks is more in depth explanation(that no one outside of the big 5 cares about) and better examples(that no one outside the big 5 will ask about)
so stfu nigga
>>
>>806355
it's only 300mb you stupid piece of baiting trash

I don't suppose there's a collection of cybernetics books out there?

It's been a while since I got my degree. Could use the refresh. Thanks anon.
>>
>>808434
You sound like you don't read a lot.
>>
>>808434
Knowledge is knowledge but not all knowledge is good knowledge. College textbooks or professors can and will teach bullshit.
Even textbooks on the same subject have different views on what is valid, especially in a borderline pseudoscience like CS.
>>
lol i came here for porn and I find shit I actually need

I know, right? The torrent section holds a lot of unexpected surprises that I'm really happy to see.

You went to Purdue?
>>
>>811277
Don't know if he went to Purdue but the guy who made the torrent said that he assembled it from the Purdue curriculum in the original /g/ thread, iirc.
>>
>>811277
Not OP but I was weirded out since they have all the same course numbers

Most of the textbooks for all the classes I took there are legit and some are even free online since they're essentials (C Programming by Brian Kernighan for example)

Good resource to take from

>>
I don't suppose anyone in here would happen to have an Artificial Intelligence and machine learning torrent put together? Studying that now.
>>
Or a torrent on cybernetics? (Systems feedback, basically).
>>
>>818882
he is right, CS is basically a mixture of math and electrotechnics, not pure science like math physics chemistry. You lose your temper and ability to reason kind of fast, my son.
>>
>>818882

It's a bit of a pseudoscience when the 'technicians' are 3+ levels of abstraction from the "hard science" aspect of coding. E.g. Compiler theory is taught, but not used in daily programming. CPU Architecture is taught, but not used in daily programming etc.

When you're relying on dogma, it's basically pseudoscience. A textbook is important as it'll teach you a dogma.

any books on ada and spark programming?
>>

ADA programming? You mean the Programming language the US military use to program their 80s-90s tech? Good luck finding any good resources on that.
>>

I already have a book on it.
Looking for more though.

"Compiler theory isn't used in daily programming", but almost every single application and BigThing out there parses strings, which comes under lexical analysis, which you learn in compiler theory.

CPU Architecture isn't used in daily programming, but you sure need to understand what a branch misprediction and a cache misalignment is if you want to optimize anything on a processor that was made later than 2005.

> When you're relying on dogma, it's basically pseudoscience. A textbook is important as it'll teach you a dogma.

Established methods are useful so that you don't have to reinvent suboptimal solutions 24/7. Sure, you can do without knowing what a piece table is, or how to balance a B-Tree, but like, your shitty text editing nodejs app is going to be slower than fucking MS Word 1.0 on a 386.

But sure, go lap up your Electron "I have 16 GiB of RAM and 8 Gigs of it is taken up by a few fucking web clients" nodejs packaged "everything is in a library even oneliners because I'm an idiot" shit.
>>
>>836216
us the official reference manual and code examples. Ada is basically self-documenting.
Also if you pick a book, make sure its one of the current standard: 2005 at least, better 2012

Programming in Ada 2012

Analysable Real-Time Systems: Programmed in Ada

Introduction to Ada Programming, 2nd Edition

Concurrent and Real-Time Programming in Ada 3rd Edition

I used that book to help me with Algorithms class and yeah it wasn't very good.

Any books on BLISS?
Seems like another interesting language.

Thanks.
I see that the book I mentioned was for ada 95 which is a bit old.

Do you have any magnet links for the books you mentioned?
An y books on SPARK as well?

I've been interested (read: I think it looks cool) in getting a job in CS, networking specifically networking and/or server maintenance, but I've had no practical experience, or even book learning. I can read wikis and Stack, but am curious on where to start. Should I just dive in and start with an ftp or actually read up before doing anything? I've been running Linux for about 4 years, so its not like I'm going in completely blind on the commands needed to do the job, just the how-to.

I think I'm going to focus on taking cs and related classes only as a degree isn't really a feasible option right now, so hopefully I'll get a hold somewhere
>>
>>805874
TPB has been down for a few days- you're a life saver, anon!
>>
thanks OP!!
>>
>>838550
Try doing it yourself, whatever you think you'll be doing on the job or learning when doing a degree, start practicing in your own time.

Create a network for your self and mess around.
>>
>>828500
Ha, I'm way too jaded for that shit to affect me. Nice try though.
>>
>>828500
It would've worked if it moved at the end. Otherwise you clearly see its a picture

Seconding the request for something on BLISS. Read about the language recently but it seems nearly impossible to find any decent resources for it.
>>
>>823296
How do you define science exactly? Computer science is very close to mathematics. If you define science as how much you use mathematics, CS is probably above physics and definitely above chemistry in that regard.

Which one of these do I download to learn how to make an AI gf from scratch?

A book about game hacking, mainly C, x86 and reverse engineering. Good if you want to make money making hacks for games.

I've been interested in doing this.
Only problem I have is making hacks and them being subpar or something and losing customers etc.

I'll read it anyway though.

Do any of them help focus in on C++ or C#?
