honey pots? if you are worried about copyright notices to ISP, and want to actually prevent it... and if money is an issue... do what i did

"Private Internet Access" VPN. You sign up and pay like $40 for a two-year plan... then you have to immediately cancel if you don;t want a recurring charge again in two years, but they make that simple to do.

They then email you an installer link, it has your username and password plugged in by default (provided, you don't choose either) and you just install it. It is plug-and-play, so simple even a grandma could do it.

It doesn't noticeably slow anything down, and it is torrent friendly.

When the new Star Trek series came out, I got a copyright warning every time i downloaded an episode. I didn't realize that is what was doing it... installed PIA, ran it every time, and never got a warning since.

It is also just good to have a VPN. PIA is in the USA so it's less than ideal for like, weirdos downloading kiddie porn and stuff, but they do not keep records and have responded to subpoenas with letters saying "hey we have nothing for you because we don't save anything"

Anyway, they are the cheapest going and it works fine. Customer support is non-existent, but unless you are a complete moron you will never need it.

Get a VPN and don't worry about who is watching you download your torrents
>>
>>845261

"IA absolutely does not keep any logs, of any kind, period. ... The Mandatory Data Retention logs in the EU and many areas applies to Telecommunications and Internet Service Providers as they are a "Public Communications Network". This is not applicable to our VPN service as we are a private network."

>>845276
Verified “no logs” claims – There have been two examples where “no logs” claims have prevailed over law enforcement. Private Internet Access had their “no logs” claims tested and verified in US court last year.

I've been using French vpn LeVPN and haven't had any problems with it. They have servers on every continent and what seems like nearly every country. But I don't know if their 'no logs' policy has been tested yet. France isn't a part of Five Eyes surveillance but they may involved in other spying agreements.

I've been using Torguard for a little over 2 years now, though it's a little more money than some of the VPNs you can get. Haven't had any problems in that time. I use it only for torrenting things that aren't anime however. Reason being, it seems to max out for me at maybe 2mbs, where as a typical horriblesubs torrent will jump to 20mbs without it on.

Got a question about torrenting, gonna bump here instead of killing threads.
I'm trying to download a torrent but it is stuck at the 'downloading metadata' stage. TPB claims it has seeds/leeches and googling the torrent to load trackers from elsewhere hasn't helped.

BIG RED mainly applies to creating new threads with the intent of asking for sauce or a question. If you're asking in an established thread about on topic material its usually no big deal.
What you're asking for is warez and against the rules to post. Not to say someone else here won't post it.

Most public trackers content have adware injected in with the good content. so if you know that you can deal with it. use a vpn to avoid ISP problem and use a sandbox or virtual machine.
why are you torrenting porn with so many free streaming sites? There are enough black hats that will turn white knight to take down a kiddy porn guy. so I hope that isn't what your doing.

You have two options:

1. Get a seedbox. They're as cheap as $2.50 for a few months. I use seedbox.io, which is ~$20 for three months for 250GB, also comes with free VPN access.

2. Assuming you're in the US, switch to an ISP that doesn't give a fuck. Some won't even bothering forwarding the letters, or if they do, won't act on them.

>>860948
This is dangerous advice, though. It entirely depends on your country and ISP.

Some countries will fine the shit out of you and force ISP cooperation by law.

In practice, the law is unenforcable in the US, but some ISPs will throttle you, temporarily block your internets access (until you take a survey and agree to stop), and/or cut you off after a number of infractions.

Getting a seedbox or switching to a piracy-friendly provider are the only ways to use public trackers and Demonoid (if it ever comes back) safely.
>>
>>853347
This is what people should be doing but there's a severe lack of users. Anyone have tips for using i2p or using clients on it? Those letters are what scared the majority of normies away from torrents to begin with and something that prevents it might help with a resurgence.
