>>52271600Here are some of my babies
So what'd you get in the mail today /edhg/?
>>52271807Literally just opened the package and then refreshed the thread.
>>52271807Just got them when I walked into the office this morning.
>>52271866>three judge promo imperial seals>three promos avacyns>them homeward pathscame a little bit what decks are they going into and how much did you pay for them?
>>52271937>What decks are they going intoThe Paths are just gonna replace normal Paths in 3 of my decks. Avacyns are probably going into Trostani, Ghave, and my binder to await a third deck. Seals are going into Ghave and Gitgud (my third black deck is Orkz, so having "imperial" in it doesn't make much sense, I guess?). Confluence, unsure- one goes into Melek for sure, though. >how much did you pay for themI didn't.
I've got pic related on the way for my OG Kozilek deck, what should I expect?>>52271866>those fucking Imperial SealsI didn't know there was a judge promo Avacyn either. Those look pretty rad.
>>52271978Avacyn and Confluence are brand new from this wave. They just started arriving in the hot hands of judges on Friday.
>>52271978Dumb elf shit probably.
Just got a force of will and a JTMS for Baral. Pretty happy with them.
>>52271960>Trostani>Ghave>Judge FoilsI see you there, gA.
>>52272019Just let me play my shiny cards in my garbage decks!
What's the best deck you've ever built /tg/?
>>52272136Azusa Ramp into primal surge with no other instant/sorceries
>>52272136Do you want to BLOW UP EVERYTHING AT INSTANT SPEED EVERY DAMN TURN?!? If not, this is not the deck for you. Go play a deck for little babies like Ezuri, Kemba or anything else without black. For the rest of you: welcome to the 5-Color Lands master race, where the gameplan is to mill the crap out of yourself while bullying people with lands. What's that? How do you bully with lands? I'll show you:Opponent: I'm bringing in my stupid Selesnya commander because I'm a wuss who plays the worst colors. You: End of turn, [[High Market]] to sac [[Child of Alara]]. Use [[Volrath's Stronghold]] to get him back so I can do it next turn.Clear? Good. Next? You need a wincon. We have a couple good creatures and some manlands but those are plan B. Plan A is the holy grail of commander: [[Maze's End]]. Mill/recur all of the damn gates and then *BOOM!* everyone else is dead. Fact: regardless of your preferences, winning with Maze's End makes you better at sex. FACThttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/alara-lands-2/
>>52271866>Three judge promo imperial seals>didn't pay for themTimestamp please
>>52272191Fuck anon you're shit at this game.
>>52272136It may not be my best deck, but my favorite is Melek by far, and my favorite creature is Disciple of the Ring. People forget all the time about how she can Spell Pierce and after a failed combo turn I've pumped her to still find lethal.
>>52272236Oh shit it's gANice seeing you again
>>52272136Best as in funnest to play, or greatest chance of winning any given game? I think my kami of the crescent moon deck is my funnest deck, but mime-o-slime self mill wins the most consistently
Might vs Mind decklist is out, both decks have pretty neat reprintsMind>Talrand, Sky Summoner>Deep-Sea Kraken>New-art The Unspeakable>New-art Mind's Desire and a bunch of other Storm stuff>Beacon of Tomorrows>A bunch of Splice into Arcane shit if you're into that sort of thingMight>Radha, Heir to Keld>Kamahl, Pit Fighter>New-art Zo-Zu>New-art Guttural Response>Boldwyr Intimidator>Coat of ArmsLooks pretty solid to me
What meme cards/combos have come out since C15? I've been out of the loop.
>>52271600the 4 color precons are the best, most versatile and most powerful out of the best since 2011. If I had to rate the precon products (not counting the 2012 commanders arsenal) I would put them as 20122016201420152013On one hand the 2013, 2014 and 2015 decks were pretty shit out of the box (tons of unplayable 5-6 drops 40+ lands in each deck, next to no ramp/card draw in the 99) the commanders were pretty neat the 2016 and 2011 sets really are set apart in that they are ALL sweet and the most playable out of the box. all of the 2013 decks is unplayable out of the box, so its the worst.the 2014 set was pretty much just as bad but had more bombs and playbles in the 99 but were still pretty unplayable out of the box. the 2015 set was just about as playable out of the box as the 2014 set, although naturally Meren and mizzix preformed well despite the deck and I had a lot of sucess with daxos in precon vs precon matches. overall I love the precon lists, but if I was to recommend one I would have a hard time doing it. the 4c decks are good but getting a good landbase for them might be expensive, the mono and two color decks are really spotty and the 2011 3 color decks are expensive while the 2013 3 color decks are pretty much just avenues to pick up 3 generals at once.
>>52272785>(not counting the 2012 commanders arsenal) >2012I fucked it up also I would rate the 2016 above the 2011
>>52272727That's not new art on Mind's Desire, that's the judge promo art.
>>52272743Everything involving Atraxa is an overplayed meme.
>>52272919>AtraxaDo you honestly have a hard time playing against her?
>>52273013She's boring as hell and everywhere.
Making a Jin Gitaxias deck. What needs to go in it?
Well, I just got a raise.Talk me out (or in) on buying MODO, I've been watching too many MTGGoldfsh Commander videos and that seems like a lot of fun. Is it worth the ten dollars? Even if I don't pump too much time or money into it afterwards?>>52272727>Zo-Zu, Guttural Response, all them storm cardsSweet sweet mother of reprint>>52273000http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/duel-decks-mind-vs-might-2017-03-20
>>52273206Worthless unless you already have an established playgroup, and leaks have shown they likely plan on replacing it within the next year or two.
>>52273278>leaks have shown they likely plan on replacing it within the next year or twoWait, source?
>>52273307It's not "leaks", buthttp://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-digital/magic-digital-next-2017-02-17https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/a-first-look-at-magic-digital-nextSome people think they're completely replacing what they have, it could also be a massive overhaul instead. Who knows. Either way, I would wait.
>>52273307When are you going to drop your trip?http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-digital/magic-digital-next-2017-02-17Coincide this with the release of D&D Beyond as an actual program and Investor Day graphics putting this next to Duels and MTGO and it's obvious this is a new Magic platform and not some overarching term for their new digital group.
>>52273406That looks like a major overhaul but since they killed the previous D&D Tool they had and are launching a new one, I wouldn't be surprised.
>>52273036ha really? Our meta had 3 of them now it has none because it just kept losing.
>>52272136Dude Selvala might be my favorite simply because I jammed all my favorite cards from my mono G devotion deck. But also swinging in with a 1mil/1mil unblockable Omnath is cool too.
>>52271978Expect thinking that you can now play your whole deck, but not having enough draw to actually do so.If you do want to play your whole deck, include loreseeker's stone, staff of domination, tower of fortune etc
>>52273473i played a lot on xmage around commander 2016 times and i don't think i saw an atraxa deck win once, and i saw a ton of them. the counter memery is just too slow and ineffective to win games
>>52272136a different selvala turns out gw death and taxes is a good archetype
>>52273608yeah the best archetypes ive seen from her were walkers and infect. walkers are slow but if you can stick they are decent the infect deck can usually take someone down with it and can usually voltron little mrs. relevant keywords but removal is plentiful so that usually doesnt do THAT well.
>>52272136>Edric. 30 lands. 15 counterspells and extra turn spells. 1/1 fliers. Literally didn't lose a single game for the week I had it together. Had to kill it.
>>52273696>Literally didn't lose a single game for the week I had it together. Had to kill it.I hate when people take apart the decks just because they do well the first week. Let the meta adjust damn it!
How do I build this deck? Seems like a fun commander to play, even if everyone at the table will want to kill me.
>>52274349It isn't very good.
>>52274349In the midst of making this too. I'm thinking land destruction and Stax elements, but somehow with a low mana curve. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
>>522727852011 were terrible out of the box. Kaalia had a bunch of random jank and Political Puppets had an unplayable manabase
>>52274349You don't.Mono-red is hard to pull off without cheesy shit like artifacts, but it is doable. You'd want to have a lot of artifact mana to help offset Zo-Zu doming you, and things like Basilisk Collar and Loxodon Warhammer to give him Lifelink. If you wanna be a real monster, toss in Grafted Exoskeleton to put everyone on one motherfucker of a clock. That said, you highlighted the weakness there: everyone's gonna be gunning for you, and you're not actually strong enough to win a 3v1.
>>52274383>StaxI want this meme to die.
>>52274349Storm Cauldron is MVP, especially if you pack the appropriate artifact Mana so you don't care about playing lands.
>>52272191Everyone who's a not total tool realizes that Sliver Queen is only 5c worth playing, though. She can run combo and lands, madbabby isn't even good. You can add Necrotic Sliver too to have ultravalue. But you wouldn't know anything about good decks, right?
>>52273146You also need a catchphrase. "Flishy flashy dunk slam Jin-Jan the augur man" is taken though.
>>52274413I remember the Ghave deck, the animar deck (which is the one I had) and the memeoplasm decks all had bad cards in them but the generals were very powerful so its not the same problem that the 2013 decks had where it was a wet noodle fight for 15 turns until someone finally wins
>>52274438Stax is a fun archetype though, even if epic memesters throw that word everywhere.Pure, good stax decks will want white in them, though.
>>52274383Mono-red Stax is kind of hard to pull off. Zo-Zu offers fairly little to it though he will at least provide some incidental damage as people keep playing new lands to stay ahead. You're going to need to go crazy with your standard stax package: Static Orb, Sphere of Resistance, Tangle Wire, Smokestack, Winter Orb, Smoke -- the works. Bring Strip Mine and Ghost Quarter for sure, Wasteland if you can afford it, to turn your land drops into land kills. A Salvaging Station package -- that is, having a lot of good cost 1 or less artifacts, preferably with sac effects -- could be really nice. This is the time for Lotus Petal in EDH, though Lotus Bloom is of course better. You will want to run basically all the cost 0-2 mana rocks. Crypt and Vault are nearly essential to letting you toss your hand onto the field and stay ahead of your own lockdown elements. And FFS if you're going the "I hate lands" route, get yourself a Crucible of Worlds. Replaying your Strip Mine with Zo-Zu out hurts, but it'll hurt someone else more.Higher Cost, but spicy tech from my Feldon Stax: Keldon Firebombers.
>>52274570The deck name is Jin and Juice.Does that count?
>>52274349chaos.decgood luck with that when you are ready to build a real deck let me know
>>52272612>FTV Logo on the hat>Not Worldwake
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/karn-stax-garbage/Any advise for my bad stax deck?
>>52274349Seems like it could be good fun in the 99 of a Group Slug deck like Gahiji or The Kings.
Why didn't you tell me this was so broken for casual multiplayer? My friends hate me nowbut it's so much fun
>>52274896I too enjoy taking 20 min long turns
>>52274921They're not that long desu, Breya takes more time to go off, this thing kills you in one turn (if you find the psychosis crawler) but relatively quick
Why don't you mainboard this in every single one of your decks?
>>52274692Jintler and concentrated juice. Shame you can't play Goebbling Ooze. At least you can play Shimmler.
>>52274989I move too fast.
Post semi secret tech
>>52274623I'm okay with it existing, I'm just sick of /edhg/ trying to make every fucking deck into the universe into "le ebin Stax XD"
>>52274989Not enough things that I'd rather Needle than just kill, and it's too easy to get rid of. It's a great hate card in a 4-of format where it's not likely to be collateral damage to an Austere Command.
>>52275198How? There are only three types of deck in EDHStax (Control), Combo (Combo) and Midrange (Aggro)
Anyone got a link to the discord posted last thread?
>>52275245There's also hybrid decks, and some that try to play a more traditional control setup than just "lolstax". What I'm sick of are the people who will literally just jam Winter Orb, Sphere of Resistance, Trinisphere, and Tangle Wire into any deck and start jerking off about how great their stax deck is. It'd be the equivalent of sticking Pestermite and Splinter Twin into an otherwise Monk Tribal WUR deck and jerking off about how great your combo deck is.
>>52275250YESS, this is insanely good for any deck with lifegain elements in EDH, having 7 cards in hand every turn for free is just too good, and people don't realize Necropotence is what's killing them in the long run, they always target the other stuff
>>52275285I once had someone try to Naturalize my Aura of Silence rather than Necropotence, even though the guy wasn't running artifacts or enchantments that much, just creatures pretty much.
>>52275162>semi secret tech
>>52275485I know that feel, the rest of my playgroup are fairly new to magic and they make a lot of mistakes, it would be super easy to win every time if their decks weren't ultra powerful combo netdecks they somehow know how to pilot.
>>52275162Forests are also pretty good
>>52275533Yeah. I hate poor threat assessment the most, or grudgy players.>tfw when I cast Rhystic Study early game and no one ever pays for the triggers and says "he's just drawing cards, not winning. He doesn't even have any creatures."
>>52275285>>52275485do people still fall for necropotence? Like it's the posterboy of stealthily op card, are you two talking about new players? seems strange that someone who knows magic decently doesn't know necro.
>>52275636Yeah, one of my friends plays Breya, which wins out of fucking nowhere after doing nothing for several turns.Yet everyone still attacks the shit out of me for playing Obzedat and a Ghostly Prison kek
>>52275667They don't know necro they're fairly new, sometimes they show me cards they find online like Woah shit man look at this card it's called Mana Drain, can you believe it, a counter that gives you mana!!!!!!
Lads, I split a box with a buddy and got these.Did I do well
>>52275702hmmm.... necro is better
i don't really play much edh,but i like reading about it, why do i never see anyone talking about this card? feels like it would be prety good. Or maybe i just didn't lurk enough?>>52275680yeah, that's the point, but recognising why necor is good is like a milestone in a stereotyped magic learning path. Noobs don't know it's good in general.
>>52275802Only good for control decks and it's super easy to bounce or something and make it lose it's counters... I should try it tho
>>52272727>New-art the UnspeakableToo bad it's worse than the originalNew Zozu is cool though.
>>52275748agreed, but my playgroup always blows up card advantage so I have to put this, necro and arena in my Korlash deck.
>>52275162>Post semi secret techthe full art version is the only version as far as I'm concerned
>>52275829of course it's not op, but i mean 1 mana is a retty fucking low investment it seems hard that the opponent will gain much by destroying it or bouncing it, at worst your 1 ana investment is countered by a 1 or more mana investment.
>>52272191>http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/alara-lands-2/This is fucking hilarious. I fucking love it. It's so janky it's amazing.>>52272273>>52274523You all sound like tryhard faggots.
>>52276004You're just mad that we're right. Your madbabby deck sucks, live with it.
>>52273206Just remember you wont have a Tomer to bully. Also xmage is free and playerbase is similar despite no budget restriction on it.
>>52275667This made me think, what if my playgroup is full of people who don't play too well and don't know what makes a card super good? How can I stealthily win every single game?
>>52275702>tfw casting thief of blood before you are unable to pay the cumulative upkeep
>>52275747p. good imo
>>52276075XMage never worked on my PC.I also would probably be the Tomer of the group.
>>52276260Do you know what was the problem with xmage? MODO still likes to be unresponsive on older specs despite being the bare minimum of an interface.
>>52276380No idea. Maybe minimum requirements, idk. I guess I should check out MODO's requirements before shelling out the ten bucks.
Best commander/deck type for wins outta nowhere?
>>52276647Combo. Doomsday is probably strongest
>>52276647>>52276647combo is cancerous as fuck, everyone will hate you, I mean it
WHEN DO AMONKHET SPOILERS BEGIN
>>52272136Is there even a bad way to build Selvala? She's beyond broken, the second coming of Rofellos.
>>52276737Yeahhh, I'd rather stay away from infinite combos. At least ones that can win in one turn without any setup. On the other hand, I play with a guy who loves counterspell tribal, so it might not be that bad.
>>52276647Do you want to stay fun for your group and steal surprise wins? Play Hidetsugu. Counterspells will be a problem however, better prepare that Boseiju.
>>52272136Oddly enough, B/W beaters. Toss enough sacks of meat between your stax and your enemies board and games get easy.
How do you actually fight Gitfrog with aggro? He tutors up his Constant Mists shit and nothing can touch him ever since, while he snipes off my dudes with his undercosted deathtouch 6/6.>>52275691Man I still fondly remember when Mana Drain wasn't just a strictly better Counterspell.
>>52275951>caring about low investment costs in big dumb spells: the format
>>52276988If it's specifically Constant Mists that's fucking you, go for that. If you're in the color for counters, hold back countermagic for it. If you're in white, you might have to Nevermore it. If you're in black, you might have to Memoricide it. There's also a nonzero amount of "Damage can't be prevented" cards that shut it down.
>>52272136Apostles.dekI only got the combo off once
>>52276691>>52277045I fucking love stupid jank-ass combos like this. Who would be the best commander to facilitate something like this? Rashmi, with all her card advantage creating?
>>52277068I'm currently in monogreen, what do?
>>52276871Hidetsugu looks pretty cool, except yeah, them counters. I guess what I want is a deck that looks nonthreatening until it's about to win. I tried to make a deck with the Gay Kings but I'm not sure how to win with them.
>>52277107Green has some excellent removal/control.Turn that frog into a tree.
>>52277107Dosan, the Falling Leaf.
>>52277141That doesn't stop the problem of getting locked out of damage via Constant Mists, though.
>>52272136It has 25 Board Wipes
>>52277141>Turn that frog into a tree. And then he sacs him to Squandered Resources and I'm back to square one.>>52277114>I tried to make a deck with the Gay Kings but I'm not sure how to win with them. You're supposed to ramp up massively with cards like Collective Voyage and then just drop big Eldrazi bombs and boardwipes turn after turn. At least that's what most gay king decks were doing from what I've seen.
>>52277164this is the most evil thing I've ever seen
>>52277164I didn't even know monoblack has 25 boardwipes.
>>52277164post list didnt know black/colorless had 25 total boardwipes
>>52277395so you only have to activate the scepter 25 times and then hope you draw the battle of wits and not get countered and wait for an entire turn to win?challenge accepted
>>52277157I use this in my Azusa.
>>52277413In case people don't get it, you attack with the Elder, then do this combo. The Maze untaps it, but doesn't actually remove from combat, so it's still an "attacking creature" to the Maze.
>>52277413how do you untap the elf infinite times? It's not even attacking
>>52277439thank you anon, I was about to ask why this worked. Didn't realize maze keeps it in combat.
>>52277456Attack with it
>>52277395>>52277420IT's extra funny because unless your group has agreed ahead of time, Research does nothing
>>52277485Phasing is weird.Basically, skipping the untap step skips phasing things in or out, so all lands that were out stay phased out forever.
Help me /tg, found this today and i have no idea of what its supposed to be. plz help
>>52277521Forgot to mention the Leyline is there so you can cast the Sands on the person before your turn's end step, so that you can keep your landss while everyone else's are phased out from the phasing taking effect on their turns, but you're skipping the phasing out with the Sands.
anybody have any recommendations for where to get or have commissioned altered art commanders I want to buy a couple but prefer to stay away from unknown people with little to no feedback
>>52277594I mean, the only ones I know are either super-local to me, or super-well-known and pricey.I recommend Klug, if you can afford to drop 3 figures for an alter.
>>52277594Depends on the continent.
Any spicy recommendations for Gaddock Teeg?Right now I'm going for a blink & weenies sort of deal. The general game plan is to play Teeg as soon as I can, fuck around with some dickish things that disrupt my opponent's gameplan, play a billion tokens, and then drop something like Elesh Norn, Yosei, or Vorinclex.I recently cracked a Voice of Resurgence, and I'd love to use it, but the more I try to build this deck, the less tokens and more control I seem to gravitate towards. GW is the last GXx deck I need to build to complete my collection, and by far the hardest.
>>52277413is rakdos charm the only instant that can make this work?I want to put this in the gay group hug deck, but black.
>>52277816Gaddock Teeg equipment voltron isn't half bad, since it covers your need for protecting his ass as well as providing some offensive.
>>52277828There are other things that work with it, but they also take a bit of set-up.
>>52277868Any good equipment under 4 CMC? I have a spare jitte lying around and a metric fuckton of equipment tutors. This will work actually, it gives me a chance to use my Sram and my Puresteel Paladin.
>>52277828Just replace Orchard + Rakdos Charm with Squirrel Nest + Impact Tremors, and you don't even need the last piece since kek infinite squirrels>>52277913Darksteel PlateGreaves/BootsSwords of herp and derpNim Deathmantle if you want him uncroakable and have the manaSomething that gives evasion - Chariot, or Whispersilk Cloak?Grafted Exoskeleton if you're feeling very lucky
>>52277913a lot of good equipment. All the swords of X are under 4
>>52277995Oh wait, exoskeleton is 4cmc, nvmBasilisk Collar is another objectively good cheap equipment piece but I'm not sure how good it is with GaddockSkullclamp if you have a weenie army is self explanatory
>>52277995>Impact Tremors & squrrielThank you anon
>>52277914Why Dryad Arbor? Any ole forest will do>>52277937This isn't infinite, each cycle costs 2U minus whatever the Elder is untapping.
>>52278080The elder untaps 2 lands, so the second land can be any mana producing one to make infinite mana to infinitely cast the flicker.Use the flicker on the Witness and Hermit, and by the time Witness triggers Flicker is already in graveyard and becomes a legal target, so you can just recur it infinitely and re-cast it infinitely with the infinite mana from Elder. Also yea, any land will do for it, Arbor is just style points.
>>52278080You can tap the elder infinitely, so you have infinite mana.
>>52277816play all the prisons, and all the taxes
>>52272136Its either my Brago Stax or Combo Sharuum, but Sharuum got a lot weaker after the mulligan change.
>>52277439Insidious dreams is such a dank card, I'm surprised it doesn't get used more.
>>52278497Maze doesn't remove it from combat so it's still technically an attacking creature
>>52278497Maze doesn't remove from combat, so it's still an "attacking creature" even after the Maze effect resolves.
>>52276710That's not the case at all.
>>52278891Please elaborate then, what is the strongest?
>>52278932Tazri Food Chain
>>52279092>meme deck stronger than actually good deck
Any spicy tech for Vela?
>>52279426This image makes absolutely zero sense.
>>52279283Literally folds to counterspells at any point in the pile, and then you lose. Storm and Food Chain decks can at least recover.
>want to build a commander that uses tokens>wanna use monastery mentor, sac outlets, and cards like blood artist>red has cool as spells and queen Marchesa who makes tokens (and I have her)>green has tons of awesome token creators and ramp and so oni cant decide if i want abzan, naya or mardu tokens. pls halp.
>>52279283Anon, if you're going to bitch about Magic, at least understand what you're talking about. A 5c deck that wombo combos people t3 every game, through disruption, with a general that tutors up wincons is better than whatever shell you haphazardly slapped doomsday in.
>>52279961S A S K I A
>>52279961Why not all?
>>52279961Abzan is probably your best bet though. Mycoloth is a monster.
>tfw the only upgrades for my kruphix deck are shockland, tropical island, mana drain, doubling cube, seedborn muse and oracle of dul maya i also dont play faggot ass eldrazi because im not a crutch using shitlord.
>>52279997>>52280011Guy in my playgroup plays Saskia. I forgot to mention that. I don't really want to be THAT fag who shows up with the same commanders. Especially in the same colors. (I have intetionally not made a Sultai deck because we have leovold player)

>>52280130Ulasht is good, but let's face it, there's nothing that deck does that Marath don't do better.
>>52280160Every fucking thread.THERE ARE TWO BEARS IN GRISLY BEAR*S*. 2 BEARS ARE A 2/2. GOD
>>52279961They're completely different decks. Decide whether you want to go wide with combo synergy and sac outlets or win a grindy war of attrition with tokens.
>>52280049Do Tana, The Bloodsower and Ravos/Tymna tokens. There you go. You get all 4 cool token colors with out having to use the same comander as some one and your comander's are actually useful for your game plan.
>>52280180Ya got me there, friendo.
>>52280285Oh shit I could do Rheya the Last Abzan and Bruse is Loose as partners
>>52280305Those don't have any synergy but whatever retard.
>>52279092>>52279965Taziri food chain requires more pieces and is more vulnerable to removal than doomsday, but when doomsday gets disrupted it's game over for you. They are both high tier decks, I personally am more comfortable piloting the doomsday list because your plan b and c are more reliable and you can afford more counter magic.
>>52280205The slang term for a 2/2 for 2 is A BEAR not grizzly bears. 3/5 of it's functional reprints show only one bear. Cards that make bear tokens tend to make one 2/2 bear with art depicting only one bear. You're mistakes are your own old man.
>>52280305>>52280356I think he means for lifegainStorm the boros way:Beat the shit out of your opponents for life rather then casting spells
>>52276647yeva for flashing bears and eldrazi
>>52280305I mean you could but like >>52280355 said they have no synergy. Tana and Ravos have synergy since Ravos buff's the tokens tana/the deck is making. Tymna doesn't have synergy but is at least a card advantage machine. https://edhrec.com/commanders/brgw/That link shows you your options and most of them past dune-brood nephalim don't make anysense for token deck. Hell most of them don't make sense period. But I guess Dune-Brood is a good medium if you hate partner but want 4c tokens and don't mind the house ruling there.

>>52275702>>52276118>>52276250I wanna make a deck based around abusing cumulative upkeep. Who would be the best commander for that and what kind of spicy shit could go well in it?

Anyone got any spicy secret tech for Athreos?Bonus points of the cards are thematically appropriate.
>>52280744Kind of pointless without abusing it.
>>52280744Investment isn't worth it being a big magnet for land removal like Ghost Quarter or Strip Mine or Wasteland
>>52280494Draw myself to death or win with Lab Maniac
>>52280754Pic related could be neat.Either they pay mana and fall behind on tempo, don't pay and lose creatures, or remove it and trigger Athreos. At the same time, you can use it to sac your own creatures to trigger Athreos yourself.
>>52280754>>52280808Also this.Either they let the creature come back to the field directly at eot, or they pay life and put it back in your hand.
>>52280767>>52280771Sure, I'm planning on using it on my angry omnath deck, sac lands and then getting them back kinda deal but I'm dubious...
>>52280839Well that changes the question entirely then.Lead with that next time instead of just "What's your opinion on this below average card in general in any deck?"Lead with "What's your opinion on Lotus Vale in Omnath2.0 / Titania?" because that's far more descriptive on what thoughts you're looking for. That said, yea, it's good for decks that rely on getting rid of their own lands and recurring them.

>>52280882My bad. But yeah, I also wanted to know the general consensus about the card.
>>52280808This looks interesting, but I think I'll be running far more creatures than my opponents, so it'll end up hurting me more than them.>>52280820I considered this, but it also helps my opponents more than me. i need some suggestions for a new deck to bring to my new playgroup. i tried out teysa, GR wort, and melek, but they all ended up being a little too powerful for the table. following week, i dialed back a bit and brought iroas, red ashling, and tymaret and ended up doing almost nothing all three games.what are some decks that are fun to play, don't take 10 minute turns, and don't infinite combo the table out?
>>52280754dont forget your ogre slumlord. underrated card in sac/graveyard strategies.
>>52281082I built an Odric, Lunarch Marshal angel tribal deck that was really fun
>>52281082tell us more about your playgroup. What sort of decks are they running? How tuned, overall, are said decks? Do your fellow players have good threat assessment? Are your fellow players easily pissed off by certain strategies?Next, tell us what sort of decks you like. Color preference? Playstyles you enjoy and playstyles you cant stand?
>>52280487My fifth was Grizzly bearshttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/list-of-bear-cards/Look at all these bears. Some are not functional reprints but even reprints of grizzly bears have a singular bear on their art. Non-functional reprints that are still bears and represent 2/2 are>ashcoat bear>Caller of the claw's token>Unbonded Druid's Familiar>pale bears>phantasmal bear>striped bears art shows 1 bear and has a PT of 2/2 despite having a plural name>Balduvian Bears also has a plural name but only on bear in the name>Ulvenwald BearSo yu can clearly see here that generally one bear = 2/2
If your play group doesn't actively avoid infinite combos you have a shit group.
>>52281169the playgroup is mostly timmys. their decks are all about ramping as hard as possible in the first few turns to rush out big flashy 8-drops with no protection. that being said, they're not very well tuned, but if no one can stop a doubling season into avenger of zendikar, games end pretty quickly. as for threat assessment, they just target whoever is running the deck with the most control in it. they despise any deck that can win on the spot without going through combat.i like red decks. not monored, but definitely at least a splash of red. i'm open to any strategy really.
>>52281349>running green without Asceticism
>>52281349Well, if you are playing with a bunch of timmies, you might as well try to play with a deck that works well with their preferred playstyle (battlecruiser magic), but is also built with their decks ways on interaction in mind.If your playgroup likes big creatures but dislikes control, you should go for a creature based strategy aswell. Trostoni works wonders against battlecruiser decks as you can go wide with tons of blockers while gaining chunks of life. Tokens are cool too. Alternatively, you could always try to become king of the timmies. Thromak is as big as they come and should be able to smash through just about any creature in the game at critical mass. You could also play rakdos lord of riots to go overhead and dump your hand faster then they can deal with. Brion also rewards you for playing large creatures, gives you life, and offers a way past the wall of fat that is sure to develop at tables like this.
they were 13$ why didnt you get yours anon?
>>52281596Got mine for $3 from Guangzhou.
>>52275747is it more than the 120$ you spent?
>i just learned that most un-cards are legal in commanderI've not autistic enough to try running something like Mox Lotus or Gleemax, but would R&D's Secret Lab + a 5E Ashnod's Transmogrant allow creatures to remain artifacts across zone changes (for a sac/revive engine) since "permanently" as a rules term was errata'd out?
>>52281349When I was told to stop being the blue-fag all the time I killed my group with a turn 6 tooth and nail for kiki-jiki/great oak guardian. They stopped inviting me and now I have to pay $10 to play with randoms at the lgs on Saturday.

Arcane Lighthouse or Glaring Spotlight for Sharuum?
>>52282479Why not both? Fuck Hexproof.
>>52280744It seems kinda good, but it doesn't benefit from caged sun our gauntlet of power, which makes it weak. I'd rather just have another land.
>>52282493>Fuck Hexproof.Fuck removal.
Can Jori End work as a commander?Testing and it seems too weak
>>52282593She's too weak
I know Boros sucks shit, but is Alesha much better?
>>52282593I like her better in the 99. Melek, Mizzix, Niv Mizzet-- take your pick
>>52282593I personally play her in a control deck with a ton of counter spells, card-stealing spells, spell copiers, spells that untap your lands and 1cmc instants. You always have a full hand and always feel like you have options. The downside of this deck is that you never have much of a board state, and it takes a while before you're ready to win.I find it really strong in 1v1, but really weak in multiplayer games where you might not have the mana to counter every threat.Another common way to play her is as an artifact commander. You can turn your mana rocks into cantrips, allowing you to ramp far better than most other red or blue decks. It's also quite flavorful, because finding artifacts is what Jori does in the lore. Just make sure you have a shitload of mana rocks so you can play 1 or 2 every turn.I find her extremely fun (because casting lots of spells is normally fun), but she is not close to being overpowered.
Planning to build a deck core around Maelstrom Wanderer feat. Jhoira and Rashmi.Any fun tech to just absolutely shit spells all over the fucking board? I want to cast shit on the cheap, I want to cast shit for free, I want to copy it, I want to copy spells, I want to clone stuff, I want to break the fucking mana economy over one knee until it cries.Yidris is probably the better commander for that but I'm not sold on building him over Wanderer. I also want to make a "legendary" theme deck with either Wanderer or Yidris, and if I build Yidris, I'll be going for a crazy legendary-creature-only theme.
>>52282593I tried a Kiln-fiend/prowess combo deck with her. It didn't work out too well. But she's fun to pilot besides. Somebody must have built Merfolk tribal with her
>>52283064Animar would be your buddy then
>>52283064Riku and Kruphix would also be pretty sweet
What's the cheapest (monetary wise) "Go infinite, win game" deck? Something to play when somebody else pulls out their infinite deck just I have a chance to actually play instead of sitting there while they jack off?
>>52283183Put sage of hours into a UG Ezuri deck? That or squirrel tremors
>>52283183Try Elfball with Paradox Engine. Might as well be infinite.
>>52282593Only if your playgroup is retarded and doesn't punish the poor deckbuilding required to make the most of her ability by killing the shit out of you.
>>52282919Yes. So much so.She's still combat based, but oh man is it so much more fun to play.
>>52282919http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/15-01-17-alesha-stax/she's T2 competitive
>>52283483>stax Alesha>not combo Aleshawhat in the actual fuck? I thought "make everything stax" was just a /tg/ meme, not real life
>>52283183Yisan is by far the cheapest to build. Buy a bunch of common turn 1 mana ramp (utopia sprawl, llanowar elves, etc.) Buy the combo pieces to get infinite mana or play-your-deck bullshit, and the wincons can be whatever janky shit you want. Boom, Yisan can guarantee a combo win in less than 6 turns for less than 75$
>>52283064Stick to wanderer for legendary only. Get surrak secondary
what card makes your table scoop when it drops?
>>52284758How does that work?
>>52284806As a 2/2 hexproof beater when animated.
>>52284806it's not really a tech card but it's played in black/blue with allot of draw/discard and the black card that lets you name name a card and put any number of it into your exile zone.
>>52283545deck holds its own against derevi, sharuum, and that general level of competitive. it's not yidris or prossh levels of 3.5 turn win, but it's pretty good.
