Reposting from last thread.

How is CSM possibly better than IG? IG have massively better stratagems (once you factor in more CP and more ways to regain them), better faction rules (orders versus Death to the False Emperor), and their sub-faction rules are about as good if not better.

At this point it's impossible to say which he is. In the FLG review of the guard dex he claimed, among other things that the guard dex was "balanced" and that "all the marine chapter tactics are equally viable" even when frankie, one of the other play testers, pointed out how much better the RG tactic was than most everything else. And then he defended the lack of certain nerfs by saying "maybe the dex was written and printed long before all the unbalanced stuff came to light, maybe." Nobody is deluded enough to think that playtesting of any kind is perfect, so I'm so confused why he won't come out and just admit they missed some major shit

so gw has said you can use the index, as long as it dosent counter something from a more current codex? cause i cant not be using at least 1 unit of my rough riders
>>
Thoughts on Devil Dogs in a Tallarn army? They don't take an accuracy hit to the melta cannon (or hull multimelta if you give 'em one) for moving, so it seems like they could be potent little tank hunters zooming around, or at least good distraction carnifexes.

>>55753927
Anything that's not in the codex you can still use the index for, yes.
>>
>>55753927
If a model isn't in the codex then the most recent profile for said model (and its equipment) must be used, so for Rough Riders you use the Index.
>>

>>
>>55753927
Not just rough riders, but things like HQ on bikes and demon steeds ect. are not in the codexes but GW says you can still use the Index but the units are officially considered 'Legacy' units and won't be getting new models in the future.

Not OC enough. They'll get their own vehicle that's nothing like the Rhino, because monies.
>>
>>55754020
Yes you can.
>There are a few options that are missing in the codex that appear in the index: why is that? Does that mean I can’t use these models in my army anymore?
>While the indexes are designed to cover a long history of miniatures, the codexes are designed to give you rules for the current Warhammer 40,000 range. There are a few options in the indexes for some Characters and vehicles that are no longer represented in the Citadel range – certain Dreadnought weapons that don’t come in the box, or some characters on bikes, for example.
Don’t worry though, you can still use all of these in your games if you have these older models. In these instances, use the datasheet from the index, and the most recent points published for that model and its weapons (currently, also in the index).
They still gain all the army wide-bonuses for things like Chapter Tactics and can use Space Marines Stratagems and the like, so such venerable heroes still fit right in with the rest of your army.
>>
>>55753973
Didn't say that you can use the Index for options as well. I mean, people told me to use the Index when the codex didn't give me the option to put a storm shield on my terminator librarian.
>>
>>55753995

When the NPC races get squatted, the /tg/ tears will sustain me for weeks, maybe even months. I shall descend upon this board like a wolf upon a lamb, and bask in the unending impotent rage that this board will pump out. I will gaze upon the suicide threads and rage posts, and drink deep of their whining. When they actually start livestreaming their own suicides and self-mutilation, I'll know true ecstasy.

I don't think my penis will ever be harder than it will be when a million NPC fags cry out in itty bitty penis fury simultaneously.
They'll try to convince themselves it is just the molds being redone. They'll try to convince themselves that the GW had pulled a fast one on them.

"We will riot!" They will say. "Boycott GW" "Third Parties!" they will cry.

Time will pass, and they will do nothing because they only talk. They are too cowardly and weak to do anything.

But best of all, none of their bitching will balm the pain of knowing that their factions, their dudes, will go down in history as an embarrassment, as an amusing footnote at best, as the shitty NPCs who did nothing but distract the Imperium from the true fight. The entire playerbase KNOWS that Chaos is over-hyped, that ADB is a shit writer and Master of Mankind is glorified fanfic. But all this only drives home just how little the playerbase think of NPCs. After all the bullshit, the Chaos wank and the bad sculpts, the Chaos range still makes more profit than all the NPCs combined.

When the denizens of /tg/ come to this realization, they shall know true, soul-crushing, all-encompassing despair. Exquisite shall be their pain. I will look into their eyes and watch their spirit break, and won't reach my climax a moment sooner.

I need to fap.

played a game of thousand sons against guard the other day. the first for fun game id played since i started collecting. had to proxy models with some of his collection as i didnt have enough and had a few insights and questions.

tzaangors are really good, my friend dropped in two squads of scions with plasma guns that deleted a hellbrute with literally no difficulty (had orders to reroll 1s so no barely any risk of them killing themselves) had some tzaangors relatively close due to the area he dropped them. had ahriman cast prescience and diabolic strength. 30 attacks deleted them with ease, probably wouldve managed it without diabolic strength even.

other squad of scions got 6 of them in their next shooting phase using same orders so they really are a scary glass cannon.

scarab occult terminators are alright but their effectiveness seems to end pretty quickly because of their lack of weapon variety. no combi weapon teams like normal terminators get. made them really good to shoot at guardsmen but not very effective against anything else. rubrics felt kindof useless for this particular game. maybe a lot of them stacked into a rhino then jumping out with warpflamers. i built my squad with inferno bolters though. id have to play a lot more to get more insight on them.

ahriman did pretty well. finished off some bullgryns with smite, buffed a tonne of dudes with his psyker powers so was pretty happy with him.

game was 1000 points by the way. for thousand sons that doesnt leave you with many bodies especially compared to an army like IG. had 20 tzaangors, hellbrute, 5 rubrics, ahriman, 5 scarabs and a terminator sorcerer. vs 50 conscripts, 2 hellhounds, 2 squads of scions, bullgryns, 6 heavy weapon teams w heavy bolters and i think a few other things ive forgotten.

PDF's are high quality and can emulate the actual physical codex with the way it's meant to be viewed. Probably cheaper and easier for GW to just shove it into a crappy ebook format whilst getting maximum profit.

>>
>>55755844
Yeah by 9 points technically. So if you wanted a Gunnery brigade of dudes, that's what you'd take instead. I think I'll run two of them with a medipak and volley guns for a mobile support unit where I need it.

>>55755929
Each command squad requires you to have a commander in your list.
>>

>>55755880

I guess I could have worded it better, but I meant the guard detachment that allies into my GSC, I am aware that GSC have no subfaction of their own.

Avoid flamers, and run Plasma or melta instead. Now that Melta costs less than Plasma it's actually worth considering.

>>55755932
Special Weapons work like this:
>Flamer: Anti-Light
>Grenade Launcher: Versatility
>Meltagun: Anti-Tank
>Plasma Gun: Anti-Heavy
>Sniper Rifle: Anti-Character

Volley Gun is basically just a Machine Gun.

>>55755948

>>

On that same note volleyguns are like 6 points a piece. That seems really useful even if you're on the move. >having only 40 arms
Pleb, get on my level.
>>
The definitive guide to making 40k a better game, using 8th edition rules as a base.

1. No more alternating turns. Instead, players move through phases together, alternating unit activations like they do in the fight subphase. Instead of rolling off for first turn, players roll off to be the first to activate a unit (unless any special rules apply). This priority alternates each turn.
2. When consolidating, models can move in any direction as long as they maintain coherency with their unit.
3. Units can both disembark and embark before or after a transport has moved.

>>55756141

>>
>>55756141
it's been 2 codices a month right?

GSC will only take 2 years if every space marine chapter gets a codex before them.

GSC in 5 years confirmed. GW is gonna be making up space marine chapters.
>>
>>55756141
At this rate you are getting four more before the end of the year.
>>
>>55756034
You clearly haven't looked at SM Scouts and their sniper rifles.

Hot-shot packs can be a backpack or just a power cell. 3e stormies didn't have cables, they just had a cell in their lasgun. In Necromunda hot-shot cells are just souped up power cells. Even the SM Scout kit comes with one lasgun that has a power cell instead of cables.
>>

>>

>>55756141
GSC desu should be out in the Nid codex, if it isn't in there I'll eat a ghost pepper. They are a subsection of Nids and it makes the most sense to just slap them into the same dex and ship them out together.
>>
>>55756149
Because it's literally just allying in a detachment.
If a Space Marine taking an allied detachment of Guard didn't get to use the Guard doctrines, people would be up in arms.

Except Space Marines can stand on their own, while gsc NEED to ally to be any good.
>>
>>55756149

Alternatively, GW can make two dexes so people have to buy more books. Which of those two options sounds more like GW to you?

They've lied or changed their minds before. I remember them waffling on the ynnari rules before they faq'd them. So until they put it in ink, I'm going to play with catachan doctrines as brood brothers.

Dark Mechanicus Codex probably.

>>55756294
>ignoring the fact that they are heavily implied to have been rekt by the Death Guard.

>>55756267
Why wouldn't they be able to?

>>55756283
What did he do, anon?

>>55756299
So you're a WAACfag, then.
>>
>>55756238
They literally said it was ok for Necrons, why would the same not apply for GSC?
>>
When the Genestealer Cults get lose Doctrines, the Tyranid tears will sustain me for weeks, maybe even months.

I don't think my penis will ever be harder than it will be when a million Genestealer fags cry out in itty bitty penis fury simultaneously.
They'll try to convince themselves it is not long till their codex. They'll try to convince themselves that the GW had pulled a fast one on them.

"We will riot!" They will say. "Boycott FAQ" We wuz Guard" they will cry.

Time will pass, and they will do nothing because they only talk. They are too cowardly and weak to do anything.

But best of all, none of their bitching will balm the pain of knowing that their factions, their dudes, will go down in history as an embarrassment, as an amusing footnote at best, as the shitty Genestealers who were never as good as guard. The entire playerbase KNOWS that Guard is overpowered and that the other factions need buffs. But all this only drives home just how little GW think of Genestealers. After all the bullshit, they couldn’t care less about your factions.

When the Genestealer players come to this realization, they shall know true, soul-crushing, all-encompassing despair. Exquisite shall be their pain. I will look into their eyes and watch their spirit break, and won't reach my climax a moment sooner.

I need to fap.

except that is false?
>>
>>55756323
Because they literally said it WASN'T okay for gsc.
>>
>>55756323
They said what was ok for the Crons? Using another army's doctrines?

>>55756332
There's artwork showing Death Guard reking Tau.
>>
>>55756362
And literally nothing to back it up in the DG codex
>>
>>55756357
Not really, they said the Regiments aren't the GSC ones, and that GSC will get their own whenever their codex drops.

In a separate post they said that those without codex could make up their own until they get some, so long as their group agrees they aren't unreasonable. No one should seriously argue that buffs that already exist in published book are 'unreasonable' to use.

Checkmate.

I'm not completely familiar with the rules, I just didn't understand why dedicated transports are so important if peeps can start in non-dedicated transport vehicles.
>>
>>55756407
Dedicated Transports are just able to be taken outside the standard organisation chart, that's all.
>>
>>55756402
Oh shit, well why didn't you say you were playing narrative?
>>
>>55756424
Catachan air cav here I come.
>>
>>55756402
Oh you're playing Narrative Play. That's fine then.
>>
>>55756432
Play Ride of the Valkyries during your shooting phase.
>>
Why is there confusion on if GSC allied guard do or do not get doctrines. Seems pretty blatantly they do.
>>
>>55756508
There's no confusion, GW explicitly stated that they shouldn't and that they will be FAQing it in.
>>
>>55756526
Where did they say it? Just wanting to confirm it.

>Implying AOS isn't the first step in the right direction and sold more than they ever did than the dead horse that was fantasy
Really 40k would be better if it had more AOS elements, T and S is outdated and should be replaced with fixed values like WS and BS

During the guard codex livestream.
>>
>>55756543
In live stream supposedly, as if anyone even watches that shit.

>>55756558
Guess I will research that tomorrow. Early, middle, or late in the video stream?

Should I use melta vets for anti-tank?
Not sure what to do for anti-tank desu
Wanna run assaulty catachans what with their strength in combat.

What are you smoking?

Guard codex leaked yet?
>>
>>55756548
No, go fuck your self. fixed to wound rolls are cancer and retarded.

Why should a mindless zombie be just as good at tearing the flesh of a grot as it is at tearing the flesh of a fucking bloodthirster?

AoS should adopt 40k's to wound chart.
>>
>>55756675
Something that lets me perform basic math?

A battlecannon firing twice at a Rhino does an average of 3.1 wounds

A predator twin-lascannon firing at a rhino does an average of 2.6 wounds.

1/2 a wound is not a big difference, and the Russ costs more. So on par, unless the SM player uses Killshot.

Best army composition for Orks? Nob squads are so goddam expensive points-wise.

Put 200 ork boys on the field.
