Blunder of the fucking set
>>
>>56764535
Considering the current print quality that set is pointless anyway. The lands are gonna wrap in 6 months.
Don't be a good goym show it to Maro and refuse to buy it!
>>
>>56764535
I have to agree. they managed two extra braniacs for The Big Idea, but only one pretty terrible killbot. I'm surprised they didn't manage at least two, so you could have the one terrible killbot you throw under the bus, and the one actually murdery killbot you cheat in with Mary.
>>
>>56764869
Even artifact-specific support is ironically low in this set.
>>
>>56764869
There is a third killbot. It just happens to be GW. And also a mythic...
>>
>>56764535
that's totally normal draft-fodder Common creature
>>
>>56764869
There's tonnes of black-border reprints in this set, another thing among many other disappointments.

All the local stores aren't even holding a draft for this thing. Nobody has any promos. I'm curious if the low level of Iconic Masters sales is because people are spending money on this set and not because Iconic Masters set a new bar for shit overpriced garbage.

Whatever. I'm not buying it. I might buy a pack and squirrel it away. I'm getting a couple singles for Cube and that's it. So I'll probably spend $5 on this. The game is crumbling and for some fucking reason they decided to release an Un-set.

Kindly Cognician

Artifact-matters text, at a good curve point, two (irrelevant) creature types, on an meaningful body that also is an artifact itself.

If Wizards put that much effort into every un/common we'd be good. But they don't.
>>
>>56773958
>different names means that they're different cards for deckbuilding purposes, even if they're all just 2/1s for 2
So I'm guessing that any particular name is rarer than most commons, but Killbots in general are as common as any other common - instead of printing the same card X times per sheet, they printed it with a different name that many times. Which means they're technically rarer than they should be, but also aren't clogging up packs, and the only people who WANT them are the people who want them for Mary.
Interesting.

I dont think its just bad/unreprintable mechanics. Battallion was a really good mechanic. And wordy is a good unset mechsnic at least.
>>
>>56769875
do tokens count as creatures without flavor text?
>>
>>56781013
the only reason wordy's on a card other than frazzled editor is as a joke about how it's garbage. batallion's not an inherently bad mechanic, but was executed on the low-end of the power curve, and probably wouldn't reappear as an ability word.
>>
>>56781054
unless they have flavor text. Un-cards referencing aspects of a card not usually relevant to black-bordered magic care about the actual thing you're using for a token.
>>
>>56781070
I havent seen whst battallion was on the storm scale, but Id be be really surprised if it were never used again. There were a number of constructed relevant Battallion cards in RTR iirc. Medic, the goblin guy, i think there was a guy that made s thing unable to.block, off the top of my head. But then again now I like the joke that its a heap of literal garbage mechanics. I guess I just dont want to accept Battallion being part of that heap.
>>
>>56781091
that seems like an easily abused mechanic, being able to draw a card from every single token...
>>
>>56781054
Things like specificities of text boxes, watermarks, people wearing hats in the art, etc. are specific to the actual physical card or token. So if you're using dice as tokens they don't have any art or text box, but if you're using a theros zombie and an innistrad zombie token at once they will have different properties.

Irony the name is this post.

Notice how they're one day late on adoption of terminology used in the previous day's debate? It's not organic disagreement.

Anyway, I fucking love the cupland. That's an excellent example of how weird Magic should always be.

Yes, 9-5. After 5pm we'll be able to honestly discuss problems with Magic and what we like about Magic, without a bunch of alphabet agents playing both sides of the conversation to distract from their constant meddling with Hasbro.

brainlet here, but I'm going to guess. Is it specified because there are ways to get auras onto the battlefield without casting them and needing to target, so that they fall off as a state based effect due to protection?

No one spoiled it, cards are in stores' hands. How do you expect they make thousands of store employees sign NDAs?
>>
>>56783317
Because you'd think some dipshit would value a secret and surprise for players globally more than getting some stupid Internet spoiler-karma-attention.

I know that's not the case with anybody. Everyone values attention whoring much more than the collective feel goods of everyone else. I mean, what is the fucking value of spoiling the surprise aside attention whoring or just being a dick. Everyone could have had an exciting Un-event full of surprises as Wizards intended but some retard wanted to "be first" and dropped the surprise.

So yes, some fucker spoiled it. If Wizards had not released the visual spoiler some fucker would have spoiled it too, except with an entire spoiler you could simply avoid it. Personally I don't care about being spoiled but I'm pretty sure all the people out there attending events would have rather not known that there was secret shit that existed outside the official spoiler.
>>
>>56782172
>brainlet
why has this word become so popular as of late
>>
>>56783718
I wonder about that too. If I ever hear it in real life I'm going to ask the person what the fuck it means.

It's probably exactly like "weeaboo" - nobody using it knows it came from PBF and had an entirely different meaning.
>>
>>56774005
Three-Headed Goblin. I'm leaving him in my Zada EDH, don't care what people say.
>>
>>56783510
It's not a spoiler though. Cards have shipped already
>>
>>56783743
Well the origin of its modern usage was a 4chan word filter, so I think PBF's coining of it is less relevant than its entry into popular use. I'm also pretty sure most people are aware that brainlet originated in /sci/.
>>
>>56782506

Because it's really funny
It's very simple, /fit/ invented the term manlet and all the connotations associated with the term, so you simply apply the same to intellect.

>Show up to college late, miss a lecture because you were out last night
>Stumble into the library to study
>A gang of chad intellectuals have positioned themselves in the centre of the study centre
>You sit in a corner of the room, and try to focus, but slowly, they gather around your desk.
>You make no eye contact, but one starts talking
>Hey anon, what is it you have there
>Oh, uhh, plate tectonics
>Plate tectonics, fucking pate tectonics, you hear that mates?
>They all laugh at you
>Listen here, brainlet, we're studying solid state physics, want to know why?
>You mumble something to the effect of "because you have an exam?"
>The smartest slams your head on the desk
>Wrong! We're doing pure maths. We're studying it because we like it
>You stuff your scratchy notes into your bag and run away crying
>One of them trips you
>Spaghetti falls out of your pockets
>They all laugh and walk away

Sorry, got kind of carried away there.

I literally just said it was a spoiler, which it unequivocally is, for people who wouldn't expect or want spoilers beyond the full set. Super Secret Tech, if I recall, managed to stay under wraps until release. I take no issue with full set spoilers - short of cutting off my internet usage entirely during spoiler season, those are unavoidable.
>>
>>56786046
There may well be more variants in the foil sheets, thinking on it.

Innistrad had several lands which were repaints of one another across the course of all 3 sets. There were also several cards which were clearly before/after versions, not just the double-sided ones.
>>
>>56786666
I think he's talking about the cards in SOI that had slight variations to reveal that the eldrazi were back - Tamiyo's Journal was the main one. Also nice digits.
>>
To be honest, I really don't think this works on anything but VCC, extremely slow zombie, and Target Minotaur and just goes to make things confusing since most people associate effects with the pictures.
>>
>>56780804
When I saw the card I instantly assumed that the cups generate water ex nihilo and replenish the oceans of the water which disappears over the edge of the world and didn't think about it again.
>>
>>56789278
Garbage elemental and the hobo druid one works too, and swiss army knight would work thematically if it had variations too, but I agree for the most part, and for some cards it actively hinders their fun fluff, knight of the kitchen sink is funny because with its bonus vs black border it really shines in stupid kitchen table games of magic, while its other abilities don't really have anything to do with that.
It's just a bit weird really. I do love it on VCC though, nobody knows what that thing can do.
>>
>>56780249
I'm in LA and none of the stores nearby were even going to preorder boxes until a week or so ago.
>>
>>56792646
kitchen sink is obviously derivative of the saying “everything but the kitchen sink” his variants are all different protections from odd details and silver-boredered characteristics.

Christmas is more pagan than anything else, really.
The hat is a capitalist reflavoring of something worn by a Norse faerie.
What the fuck does that have to do with Jesus?
>>
>>56797957
Christmas is the day Jesus rose from the dead and handed presents out to the Apostles.
>>
>>56797957
Winter Solstice is the original pagan holiday of later December.
>The hat is a capitalist reflavoring of something worn by a Norse faerie.
That's American thing, here's countries around the world where gifts are handed by Baby Jesus or Grandfather Winter (Mopoзкo) or couple other variants.
>>
>>56798023
Didn't the conflation of Jesus' birth with the winter solstice come from the early Church appealing to the Sol Invictus cult?
>>
>>56775333
Is that Black Pete?
>>
>>56798069
And later Yule.

The word in Scandinavian countries for "Christmas" is literally "Jul".

What happens if you put triple strike and last strike on one creature?
>>
>>56813150
The same thing that happens if you put first strike on a creature with double strike, absolutely nothing. It already deals damage during first strike, normal strike, and last strike, so having another instance of last strike doesn't do anything.
>>
>>56813150
The same thing that happens if you put first strike on a double strike creature
>>
>>56813220
The real question is what happens when you put first strike on a last strike creature.
>>
>>56813330

It swings during the first strike damage phase and again during the last strike damage phase, effectively a very spread out form of doublestrike.
>>
>>56811550
But if you exchange all permanents, then the enchantment goes too, right? so then when you swap libraries, you take your library back, giving you two libraries.

Yeah I'm not complaining. It's not like the random card is a bad thing that is being mitigated by this, it's a unique mechanic where there were concerns brought up about its implementation, and the concerns have been addressed.
I'm happy.
>>
>>56813588
>>56813935

He doesn't have every other walker ability
From my tests, he has 20 abilities for each cost
I didn't check but there's never two abilities from the same planeswalker for a given cost
And I'm not sure if all -6 actually come from a planeswalker card
