Dice nerds, i recently traded a few dice into my collection. They are d10s that roll for a value of "2d4+3" each. The sides are (5,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,11), and i cannot figure out wtf they are for. Any help would be great. Pic related, ignore the d3s.

Help a motherfucker out

I dont know what they were intended for, but I know there were a set of dice with those faces in a Harry Potter trivia game I played as a kid.
>>
>>59167276
Appreciate it, do you know the game?
>>
>>59167309
Not really a match
>>
>>59167353
Not sure if that was the one, but if it was, I guess I was mistaken.
>>
>>59167421
Appreciate it though

Old DnD die for calculating amount of testicals on character.
>>
>>59166953
they're for a falchion wielding fighter with strength 17.

>>59167505
Of course, the flawless 11 testicle roll..
>>
>>59166953
I could see summing two of them for as a heroic modification to any D20 game.

With the dotted six, they look kind of like these Chessex cheat dice. Regular Chessex d10s have a line under the six.
>>
>>59168135
Do the cheats go to 11 and have the doubles?

>They are d10s that roll for a value of "2d4+3" each. The sides are (5,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,11)
But 2d4+3 would be (5,6,6,7,7,7,8,8,8,8,9,9,9,10,10,11).

It's closer to 1d6+1d2+3 (5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,11).

These go to 11.
>>
>>59167809
Just make sure natural ones cause them to lose a nad. Nothing special for 20, or maybe they grow an extra, depends on the setting

Good call champ.

Thank you master statician. So do you have any insight into what these are for?

This should be a bannable offense.

Not to detract from OP, but this does seem to be an appropriate thread to solve my own little die mystery.

Its a d6 (18or19mm) with 5/6 faces being 4's (printed cheaply). the 6th face has a red-lined triangle on it take up most of its side, within the triangle is what would best be described as some abstract planet surrounded by a sprinkling of stars.

I see a dice thread so I'll ask this: right not I have about 100d6 and I'm having my first DnD game tomorrow. Should I bring them all just in case?
>>
>>59174801
Something obviously drives you to believe you will need 100 d6. What is it?

Those, like >>59168135 suggests, are Chessex dice.

My first guess is WWoD targeted cheat die.

Chessex will do, or used to do, random runs of things for splurge sells, looks like your boy grabbed half of a retailer's set. (Used to come in 10 packs of ten colors)

I'd guess early mid 2000's.
>>
>>59174885
Ill see if i can find a list of dice runs
>>
>>59174843
Actually it came from me buying a little pack of 10 for about $2. Got one, next month another, and again everyother month for a while and now I have about 100. I will never say it was a waste, because I play shooty orks.
>>
>>59174843
Oh and to answer, it could be funny.
>>
>>59174801

DnD you'll be fine.

Shadowrun you may need to reroll a few

is the whole dice unbalance thing on d20s just a meme?
watched some video the other day about some old faggot telling people to buy his $30 dice because they were perfectly balanced.

i usually just buy chessex dice and never really had any problems with them
>>
>>59168184
No, they just replace 1 with the highest number.

Nearly all my speckled Chessex d20s (which is to say, nearly all my d20s, since I like the look of the speckled ones and collected quite a few of those over the years) failed the float test, spinning around to favor the 20 side when floating in a glass of salt water. The two Chessex dice I tested (a speckled and a solid opaque) were pretty biased, and in particular infrequently rolled 20s. Their distribution patterns were roughly similar to each other and to a similar test done by Awesome Dice. So I definitely think there is something to the claims of imbalance. I don't really know how Chessex dice compare to other dice though. I'd do more tests to see, but rolling a die 2000 times is really fucking boring.

Sounds like a type of regular die. I remember hearing about d6s with a 2/3/3/4/4/5 spread.

If I remember right an old Romans vs Celts (or may be it was English versus Scots) wargame tried to create asymetrical balance by making the less civilized forces roll normal d6s while the more civilized "regular" forces rolled regular dice.

The difference in the variance of the dice types created a different feel for both sides even if the average results were the same.
