FW is known for highly coveted overpriced resin kits of shitty casting quality. Which are made for full-scale Wh40k. This marine is made for micro-Wh40k called Epic. Still overpriced as fuck, but 'affordable'. That is, £2 instead of £20 or £200.
>>
>>61358564
Anything GamesWorkshop is overpriced, despite being just teeny tiny bits of molded plastic that you have to build all your own.
That picture is an example of a reasonably priced one, adjusted for size to reflect the new price.
>>
>>61358655
That's Forge World, not Games Workshop. Basically Games Workshop with megalomania, on crack, everything is even more overpriced and made in finest examples of Citadel Finecast ONLY.

For those not in the know that was another GW's scamming scheme, a line or horridly overpriced resin (a material that's worse than metal or plastic in every possible comparison, but is extremely cheap) recasts infamous for being shilled as the greatest quality ever whilst being disgusting at best and outright malformed in most cases.

Part of it was that, and part of it was that the later big things just don't really interact with you the way the first ones do. Sure, the Ghosts charge you, but they just hit you, deal some damage, and then wander off, while the last set of guys barely do anything to you, just swimming around and throwing rocks.

Meanwhile those guys scream, charge you, grab you, drag you all over the place, and usually end up killing you.

>>

Frankly, any kind of inanimate transformation is fucking terrifying.

There's only two options: either the person is 'just' an object after the transformation and is no longer alive, in which case its fucking murder, or the person is somehow still aware to some degree as the object afterwards in which case you have officially crossed over into some Harlan Ellison shit.

Being turned into an animal is only slightly less horrifying, because at least as an animal you can fucking do stuff, even if your life is an existential nightmare.
>>

It's a reference to a (deliberately) badly done creepypasta.
>>
>>61359772
>mike truk

>>
>>61368287
Animal transformation can be done in different ways as well.

I mean, probably the worst way to do that is for them to start with their full human intelligence, but for it to gradually degrade over time.
That way they get the full horror of understanding they've become a dog or cow, only for their memories to start to decay, as their instincts get stronger and stronger.
Near the end they're desperately trying to hold onto the memories of being human, but it's like trying to get a tight grip on sand, all the little things like who their parents are, or where they grew up, and even their name starts to slip through their fingers (now turned into unwieldy claws or hooves)
>>
>>61368393

I guess it should also be mentioned if we are getting deeper into this that turning into an animal CAN be a good or useful thing, but only if its on purpose.

Turning someone else into a bird for the rest of their life is horrifying. Turning yourself into a bird so you can fly out of this prison cell and escape is a useful ability. Druids, after all, get wildshape as a power for a reason.

But turning into an inanimate object is never useful, unless you are REALLY invested in hiding in plain sight as a lamp or something. In which case an illusion is probably more reasonable.
>>
>>61368524
What if it's an animate inanimate object, like in Prey?

Once, on FA, I came across a guy who drew some fraggle porn. Now, the fraggles weren't the weird part, and indeed he never drew anything especially hardcore, mostly just some tasteful nudes of his one or two fraggle OCS.

He also, clearly, had a fetish for petrification - people being turned to stone. I'd consider that somewhat weirder, and more so for inanimate stone, and more so still for the implication, in one or two of these pictures, that there was no way to turn back, so it was effectively death. But that wasn't what got me.

What got me was that the little pieces of descriptive writing he added to some pics felt like the writer wanted to BE the person who was being turned, permanently, into an inanimate stone. That, in a sense, he was fetishizing the concept of his own death.

That was the feeling I got off it, anyway.
>>
>>61368618
Oh god yeah, there's plenty of people out there who love the fetishisation of their own death.

So many drowning, or suffocation, or encasement fetishes are about being the person suffering.

If it's a transformation, then it's probably not gonna hurt, after all you're now ceramic. No pain receptors.

At most you're likely to just feel all that warmth from the coffee filling you up, the sloshing liquid making you heat up, feeling like you need to sweat it out for release, but being unable to do anything but just hold it in.
>>
>>61368618
Ohh, it's worse than death. You're still alive, but only in your mind. You can't move or control anything. And people walk by your paralyzed body every day and they don't try to help. They don't give a shit.

Seasons 2 (Battle Tendency) and 3 (Stardust Crusaders) are where it really picks up IMO.

Season 1 (Phantom Blood) is kinda mixed. It's more of a biographical gothic-horror story, is more grounded and less goofy than the rest of the series. If you don't like it, then I'd advise skipping to either 2 or 3.

Sure, for them it's profitable, in terms of their business' numbers. But for the overall economy of the society they're in, that's more workers in less than optimal working condition, and more money being spent on maintaining a status quo instead of potentially being spent to make upward progress. In the long run that means less technological and scientific advancement, less advanced infrastructure, less jobs and less people with money to spend on your products.

That's what makes it dystopic.
>>
>>61369482
IRL we have government certification that can bitch-slap an enterprise out of the right to legally participate in business if it breaches medical ethic or the norms of what is considered "good medical/pharmaceutical practice", which is why it doesn't happen outside of shithole places. And we have those regulations because without them it seriously begins to happen.

> But for the overall economy of the society they're in
Change in the "overall economy of the society" is an extremely stormy long-term projection, and no corporate or private economic entity considers it seriously during investments.

>and more money being spent on maintaining a status quo instead of potentially being spent to make upward progress
Free market does aim for a status quo though - a status quo of stable, risk-less growth.

>In the long run that means less technological and scientific advancement
Not a sound investment.

>less jobs and less people with money to spend on your products

True, but government happens to be sort of interested in "overall economy of the society", as being in what is considered by the significant part of the population the definite position of interest representation and control (even if literally no representation happens at all) they seriously tend to get voted or revolution'd out of the office should things go FUBAR (for which collapse of the medical system certainly qualifies) - unlike private enterprises they can't just withdraw their actives and set up shop elsewhere, and thus governments (legitimate or otherwise) can be expected to allow for a degree of corruption, but are extremely unlikely to allow it to collapse an industry just for the grease - it's not a sound decision anywhere outside of literal insanity or intentional sabotage.

Anyhow this starts to get /pol/, and my point is that Shadowrun's corporate aspect has some of the most retarded application of jurisprudence in world building I've ever encountered. Reading about Nuclear Regulatory Commission v. Shiawase Corporation and it's role as the foundation of extraterritoriality made me cry and scream.

Anything that wasn't of Human or Split(?) design was essentially worthless in X3.

> Shadowrun's corporate aspect has some of the most retarded application of jurisprudence in world building I've ever encountered
Shadowrun is retarded only in a sense that corporations artificially restrict their influence and remain separate from nations.

> government happens to be sort of interested in "overall economy of the society"
You do realize that there is no "government", only specific individuals? And there is literally no individuals who are personally interested in the "overall economy of the society"? Unless we are talking about Cuba/USSR/DPRK or the like.

I.e. while government is supposed to be interested, there is no mechanism to actually make it.

> they seriously tend to get voted or revolution'd out of the office should things go FUBAR
Very few nations have a sufficiently credible threat of revolution for politicians to be motivated by it. Even if there is threat, there are ... alternative solutions, those that do not include "overall economy of the society" as a factor.

> unlike private enterprises they can't just withdraw their actives and set up shop elsewhere
Please, stop thinking about gods and spirits and other abstract entities that do not exist IRL (like "government").

There are only specific people. And specific people can easily retire. Even few years can be very lucrative for sufficiently corrupt politicians in a nation where anything could be done under the guise of "suppressing revolution".

> but are extremely unlikely to allow it to collapse an industry just for the grease
Do you live under the rock? Germany recently butchered their nuclear industry "just for the grease" (they replaced state-owned nuclear power plants with "green" and privately-owned - profits from the state-sponsored projects are already immense and will only grow, as the price of electricity skyrockets).
>>
>>61370858
>Shadowrun is retarded only in a sense that corporations artificially restrict their influence and remain separate from nations.
SR's version of extraterritoriality literally makes them into nations-states of their own with authority that can apply in the territory of traditional nations, and overrule said nation's authority, which somehow works because "lol money".

>You do realize that there is no "government", only specific individuals?
That's a bold claim. Makes about as much sense as stating "there are no objects, only individual atoms".

>Unless we are talking about Cuba/USSR/DPRK or the like.
There's something personal between you and reds, and it's kinda drips bias all over you.

>And there is literally no individuals who are personally interested in the "overall economy of the society"?
I'd say that anyone who is not a part of the elite is interested in it personally (but can't really get involved outside of mass violence), and a significant part of the elites is interested in it indirectly.

>Please, stop thinking about gods and spirits and other abstract entities that do not exist IRL (like "government").
Mr. Stirner, please log in before posting, you make anons look stupid by openly denying the existence of emergent systems in 2k18.

Wrong. Importing nuclear energy from neighboring countries because you can no longer support your own power grid, despite owning the world's safest and most efficient nuclear power plants is not a politically or economically sound move. Nuclear power is the cleanest and most efficient energy source still and we should've expanded upon it and updated our 40 year old reactors instead of shutting them down. We could've properly built up a renewable energy infrastructure while maintaining existing ones and phasing out fossil fuels instead, but no there was one major incident with a death toll of 0 in decades so we have to act like panicked lizards and bite our own tails off.
Also yes, the EEG Umlage has sent our electricity prices through the roof.
>>
>>61371018
Kid, are you trying to get laid or what? Price of electricity in Germany increased by ~40% since the start of Merkel's Energiewende.
>>
>>61371145
>is not a politically or economically sound move
For (you).
>Nuclear power is the cleanest and most efficient energy source still and we should've expanded upon it
True, but (we) are not the government of Germany. They eventually save money on importing power and energy resources (cheap coal power from Poland, even cheaper natural gas from Russia) and receive a mountain of political bennies for going non-nuclear - both popular ones (the Green crowd) and others (smiling_putin.jpg), and there are no direct consequences for the country at large for that shift on the horizon. What is best for humanity at large rarely happens to be what is best for a specific regime at the moment.
>Also yes, the EEG Umlage has sent our electricity prices through the roof.
That just means that the bill was subtly kicked down to the plebs, which saves even more money for the government.

Also c'mon we were discussing Shadowrun corporations here, not your butthurt from being slightly inconvenienced by your first-world nanny-state.

You are underage, aren't you? If no atom moves in required direction, there is no reason for the whole object to move in said direction.

OBEЧ is not a real word, but it looks like one.
Linguistically, it is similar to a verb in a commanding form, with a slight implication that the recipient must perform the verb on someone else.
And it has the same root as the word "sheep", which has the same metaphorical meaning for an obedient servile idiot in Russian.
So it's basically an order to turn the masses into sheeple, which is an amusing coincidence, given the context the word OBEY is mostly used in.
Also it sounds silly (in a nice way), so mistyping "obey" as "oвeч" it's a somewhat popular joke for English-speaking Russians.

It is, even now. Back in my youth snow fell in force in early November, sometimes even mid-October, kept falling throughout the winter and stayed till April, sometimes all the way to May. You can throw your mind into something else, usually an animal. But if you spend too long there, get too involved with the senses or try to take control, you can get trapped in the body and eventually forget what it is to be human.

There was a pretty interesting comic I read about a girl who is turned into a statue so she can spy on a villain, but gets thrown away or something.
She copes by creating an imaginary friend and then making elaborate fantasies, with her and her friend acting out the parts. At one point one of the fantasies is of her friend realizing that the statue girl is her imaginary friend and having to let her go and move on.
So I figure being trapped like that would probably make you make up shit out of boredom and escapism to a massive degree, to the point where if you get freed you might be completely schizophrenic and delusional.
(Eventually they find her and transform her back, at which point she announces her plan to defeat the villain that she's had a LOT of time to think about.)
