I want Sisters to get Volkites due to the rules describing it setting someone on fire by shooting them (it's like the bastard child of a bolter and a flamer and I love it) and it catching other people on fire, but Primaris should definitely get a unit of them as well.
>>

Cawl helped the Emperor make the first Marines. If anyone knows about the Grey Knight geneseed, it's probably Cawl.

Plus to those with enough rank the Grey Knights are an open secret in the Imperium.

No 1:1 copies of Marine units for the forseeable future though, so if the Primaris are getting new stuff they'll be different than the regular Marines.

>>61376137
Indeed. Though based on the Heresy era novel he may have just absorbed the knowledge of a magos who worked with the big E instead, and isn't fully aware of it due to his two mind wipes.
>>
>>61376147
Their gatling cannons are basically gatling heavy bolters.

At least longer bolters makes sense based on real world ballistics. I mean an M16 has a longer effective range than a M4 due to the barrel length despite the round not changing.
>>

>lookin at the older eldar plastics vs. the dark eldar ones

>>
>>61376194
I think it means more that the units will be equipped different than regular Marines. Based on the current approach (which seems partially designed around making Marines easier to get into for new players) that means models all having the same wargear HH style (or pretty close to it considering the grenade launchers) with no mixing and matching. Also no bikes is confirmed.
>>
>>61376229

It's odd because GW has such a hard on for giving craftworlders good rules but not good models.

Where does it say that? So far all gatling cannons been solid slug weapons. Not that bolt miniguns are new tech, you got stuff like the vulcan mega-bolter.

That would be pretty cool actually. A MkX armour that mimics MkIII for a unit that's more heavilly armoured in the front for clearing enclosed places/boarding actions/ect.

>>61376259
While true, the longer barreling increases the stability of the round in a modern round by spinning it for longer which can decrease any wobbling.

And I was referring to rules more than lore for the onslaught gatling cannons.

It's because they know their audience.

Eldar players are waacfags that only care about having good rules.
DE players mostly just care about models that look awesome.

>CSM kill team (Blood Pact)

Aspiring Champion (Power sword and plasma pistol)
CSM Gunner w/heavy bolter
CSM Bolt pistol/chainsword
4x cultist w/ autogun
3x cultist with CCW and autopistol
Cultist gunner w/heavy stubber
Cultist gunner w/ flamer
Cultist champion w/shotgun

90 points.

Not sure if I should drop a cultist, get another marine and/or give the champ a power fist or maybe get an icon of wrath.

I'm also not sure about specialties yet and so on. I'm just kit bashing the models rn.
>>
>>61376294
>longer barreling increases the stability of the round in a modern round by spinning it for longer which can decrease any wobbling.

Even a short barrel will give it a spin. Longer barrel lets more powder to burn up and give the bullet more speed before exiting the muzzle, resulting in higher velocity and longer range. Bolts got most of the propellant on board and can easily induce their own spin by angling the exhausts (like how real life gyrojets do it).
>>
>>61376415
No, it needs to be more dumb, to fit the primaris theme
It'll be a 4 legged spider-tank style
>>
>>61376427
You really can't want more cultists then marines
>>
>>61376427
That honestly looks like a pretty good plug n play list.
Exept for the pistols. Pistols got neuthered hard in kt rules and are almost never worth taking.
>>
>>61376330

Not at all, because it don't happen.
>>
>>61376447

That'd actually be cool.
>>
>>61376432
Bolts are also multi-stage weapons, first by using the powder in a cartridge (which likely lights a fuse that is timed to light the powder in the round after it leaves the weapon).

Gyrojets were also incredibly unstable and had no recoil, but we know bolters have recoil so it's not a true gyrojet design.

>>61376447
Spider tanks are strictly Necron now. Primaris are all about that heavy grav tech.
>>
>>61376459
I'm a bit reluctant to do so because I want it to be fluffy and it's fine to have a few marines supervising the Blood Pact but more would skew the balance somewhat.
>>
>>61376473

*didn't happen, autocorrect is running rampant.

>It'll be a 4 legged spider-tank style
No it'll have 2, or 4, legs up front for steering and keeping the thing in control. A few grav thrusters under it to have it hover a little, then 2 thrusters directly in the ass for propulsion.
>>
>>61376511
Yeah, but the Spider Rhino should be Ad Mech instead.
>>
>>61375685
Who was in the wrong the Salamanders or Grimaldus?
>>
>>61376502
God I wish that were me.
>>
NEW ORK SHIT FUCKING WHEN?
>>
>>61376482
Never said they were. I said gyrojets have the exhausts angled to give the projectile a spin. Bolts can do the same just as easily to stabilize the round. And a major flaw in gyrojets was that they had low initial velocity. Bolts use the primary charge to fire them out of the gun, giving them deadly velocity at point blank ranges, thus mitigating the problem gyrojets had.

If you look something like stalker bolters, they're not that different from regular bolters in terms of barrel length, yet got sniper rifle range thanks to the ammo.
>>
My shop got a bunch of space marine crap. We're using it as a loner army for new players so i'm putting it together and painting it the store colors. What I got is the start collecting box and one primaris marine. It has a dread in it. Venerable i think. What's a good loadout for it?
>>
>>61376563
Meh. You can keep justifying your virgin bolters while the chad bolters clearly get more Sororitas barrel polishing.
>>

>make a huge bolter
>for what amounts to a regular bolter with kraken bolts

>>

His ass is going to have to wait, you don’t have 750. Pick up the Start Collecting box or find a necron player to split the admech/necron box with, don’t do both unless you want two magos. As a Tau player I can tell you those crisis won’t hit the table except as commanders, and the ethereal probably won’t either especially as Bork’an. Dude needs troops, suits are nice but they’re not that Killy without markerlight support. If your friend thinks he doesn’t need marketlights, let him believe that for as long as humanly possible. Take those sickass laser beams that do min 3 damage, those make me mad jelly. Way better than railguns.

I honestly think Tau are complete ass in 8th.

I've been fighting double Yvarras, Firewarrior boats and what feels like a million Shield Drones with my Chaos Army regularly and once I figured out that Riptides don't do fuck all with their awful gun(s) and you can just deploy 32" away from the 3d6 3 damage flamers, I haven't dropped a game since.

I honestly have no idea what Tau are supposed to be doing; You can easily outgun them because they can't hit shit, they are completely defenseless against Psykers and if a 200 point commander suidies to kill a 108 point tank, it's kind of just a bad trade for the Tau player, isn't it?

>grog didn't like tau cause some fag in 7e cheated when he played tau and also brought the most bullshit detachments and units, yet he still played him

>grog doesn't like GSC cause some faggot at the store who only plays them always cheats, spams purestrains out the ass, and can't be assed to actually learn his rules
>grog still plays that person whenever theyre in the store instead of refusing a game

I just don't fucking get it man. They just let his opinion hold more weight than mine cause he's been playing longer.

What makes the Blood Angels special compared to other assault armies? Death company aren't as choppy as Berserkers, can't pile out the volume of bodies that Orks have and don't have the high quantity and quality attacks Harlequins have.
Genuinely interested, choosing between BA and Custodes to complement my AdMech.
>>
>>61378501
>What makes the Blood Angels special compared to other assault armies?

Good stratagems to give them mobility options throughout the game as well as buffing some of their engagements, good characters to buff their units and Death Company blobs wreck shit while being fast.

For vanilla marines, your best bet is dreadnoughts by far, but to a significantly weaker degree assault terminators, honour guard, and (with proper care) assault centurions. Things like vanguard with dual chainswords do alright too
Vanilla marines, aside from melee, really kinda suck at melee.

However, BA are excellent for melee, and even DA do some good work. DW can pass with sheer chainsword spam combined with commander rerolls and mission tactics

I did play Tau but now main DE, Tau took a pretty big hit to mobility in return for being guard, but bad. Sounds like someone who won’t let go of the past. It would be like me hating Grey Knights to this day because of 5th, or hating Dpace wolves because they had Jaws of the World Wolf years ago. I still kinda hold a grudge against Guard because of Vendettas, but that was back when they were skimmers and bullshit.

But then again I still catch shit for Fish if Fury, and a buddy catches it for IW rules from 3rd. Grogs gonna grog, they’re unpleasable. Think if he ever talks positively about anything, then assess if his opinion if worth shit.

Come on anon, I will explain this shit for you

The RG are probably best for shooting but they are also great to keep advancing elements safe and by the time the effect doesnt work you will be at assault range so it wont matter.

Their stratagem is absolutely top tier for assault armies, it opens so many options its stupid good and far better than the Black Templar CT when you can set up a couple of units 9" away from their target and have them move up in the first turn for a 3" assault distance, worst case scenario is you go second and the shit you set up gets punished but you would be stupid if you also didnt have advancing elements to use that situation to your advantage so your enemy is forced to kill the infiltrators or be punished by the rest of your army and one of those will get the job done.

Their relic is great to build a beat stick that essentially goes around tying enemy units so another one of your units can assault without suffering the overwatch.

Raven Guard are not only fluffy chapter tactics for Sharks but also fucking great, use them.

So you don't have to make Gangers compatible in 40k, but if they want kill team, and the Necromunda Model line to do well, they should let gangers be your kill team.

Holy shit no. Everyone in the detachment has to have the same sept to benefit from a sept trait. Longstrike is T’au sept HQ, if he wants that Bork’an goodness he needs to toss him in another detachment, maybe a spearhead with more hammerhead friends. This might be a translation error, but how I describe it is how it’s intended. T’au has a kickass tenant and the lion’s share of characters, we aren’t nids.

t. Runs Bork’an battalion with Sa’cea support (outrider or vanguard).

the large part of the chapter was actually en-route towards Cadia when the rift happened, and were smack dab in the middle of it when it opened. So, uh, yeah. The turn of the millennium, the acting commander of the chapter was a sergeant recently promoted when the actual force commander and his command team ran face first into an exploding space station during a rescue mission in the Ghoul Stars. Acting Commander Cyril and his badly depleted cohort returned to Imperium space to find everything going to shit, with the assumption that they're the last remaining brothers of their chapter.

technically they aren't, but they haven't realized that there's a couple hundred man sized group of renegades that are all warped to shit from spending centuries in the warp, emerging every so often to raid what few holding the loyalists have left, claiming that theyre the true Riders of the Storm.

Pregnant 40k when?
>>
>>61380765
Christ. Rules are written in English, English explanation inbound. Longstrike’s sept is locked into T’au. If he runs longstrike, the whole damn detachment has to match septs. If he wants to run his stuff as T’au sept one game and Bork’an another that’s cool, I had to experiment to see what I liked, but Longstrike’s detachment must be a T’au sept detachment period. We don’t soup like that. Not that Longstrike buffs other sept hammerheads anyway, it’s a moot point even if he did.

Your friend sounds dumb, convince him that markerlights are bad. Argue that the points are better spent on more guns, I think he’ll buy it.

>>61381342
Markerlights fall off at the end of a phase if I remember right, i’ve used them since 3rd and they’re a cornerstone of Tau. Pathfinders have always been efficient carriers, even if they die like chumps. Those first two turns of shooting are vital, if they live past that it’s gravy. Been experimenting with their specials since I run mine Sa’cea, the re-roll trigger from markerlights dovetails nicely to prevent ion overheating and the native re-roll keeps them accurate. Ions pump out S8 shots at 30” at D2 a hit, not bad for the cheap option. A fireblade hits on 3s with a re-roll if he moves, and can use the uplink strat and marker strat. Sa’cea is kickass support.

Anyway, your buddy is wrong and dumb. Use the fact they fall off to convince him they suck, thank us later. Fighting Tau sans markers is fighting worse Guard.
