If those big zords could combine they'd actually be useful. As is I don't see the point. They're not even as articulated as they could be, so I'm not sure why they couldn't make them combinable. Black Dino Thunder looks pretty nice.

I could see people been more likely to bite at 1/4 scale helmets as they are more likely to fit into a collection and better chance of getting a full team + a bit cheaper.

I also see them sitting unsold cause the majority of Western PR fans are retards and will find a reason to refuse to buy them.

I've said this hundreds of times, but Bandai fucking shit the bed with that line and never gave it a real chance outside of Japan. On top of that, American fans didn't do their part and waited for sales and second hand shops to get entire teams so anything non-MMPR was fucked to begin with.

I still remember when people would not buy the Shinkenger/Gokaiger releases because there were web exclusives teammates without a US release. Then there were people who wouldn't buy Gobusters/Kyoryuger because they didn't reveal every single ranger at once and they didn't want to risk having incomplete teams.

I've received so many figures that smell of cigarettes or Axe that I only buy sealed when possible now. That and too many people getting rid of stuff with QC issues.
>>
>>6566605
Bandai should know they can't rely on the American PR fans for anything import related at the best of times.
They should really look into doing full teams in one go, even if it's a more expensive set, more likely a person would get a full team as opposed to a full set of Kamen Rider forms.
>>

Went to NYCC yesterday(only day I got a ticket for). The Tommy set sold out in less than an hour. I did find an In Space Pink Ranger for $14 though so that was pretty awesome. If I got that set I'd have felt inclined to pick up the metallic MMPR set but now I don't. Just gonna do In Space, Psycho Rangers, non-metallic Tommys, and probably Dino Thunder.
>>
>>6566739
Yeah, I probably wouldn't have been interested in the Metallic Rangers either if I didn't already have SDCC Red from the first year these figures came out. I'm skipping In Space myself, even though I did watch it and enjoyed it. I'm debating getting all of Zeo, I'll definitely get at least Jason since the Gold Ranger is my all time favorite Ranger design. I'll probably get Dino Thunder since it brought me back to the Series and you know, more Tommy.

I think the best way to revive the line is make it 100% P-Bandai exclusive. That way they only produce the amount ordered.

I wouldn't care about using a middleman for it all, so long as I finally completed the teams I diligently pre-ordered straight from Bandai (well via a middleman, but close enough).

I'm pleasantly surprised to see the Good vs Evil packs continuing on, and not just as Walmart exclusives this time, but it looks like it will mostly be re-releases again. I imagine they'll put 93 Rita in one of the packs, but ALL of them should have new figures. Many Rangers could be made with only a new head.

One of the guys at Bluefin said MMPR sold huge. It was Ninja Storm, Overdrive, and the Samurai 6-pack that didn't sell well here. Overdrive was incredibly unpopular, Ninja Storm was middle of the road at best, and there were a plethora of reasons the Samurai set sold poorly. So they used polling to try to figure out who the fans did want, and ultimately it was seen as inconclusive.

If anyone is to blame it's the fans for not banding together to push a single team. Zeo and Space were the highest voted teams, split about 50/50. Then you had a decent amount of people yelling for Time Force or RPM. It was too scattered for Bandai to feel comfortable proceeding with another team. If everyone had just said make Zeo next we'd have probably gotten them, and the sales should've been good enough to show Bandai that the demand is there for non-MMPR teams. TLDR: You played yourselves.
>>
This might be a little off-topic, but I'm looking for some Power Coins for the Legacy morpher. (Triceratops and Mastodon)

Starlight coins are diecast, but you don't need to resort to that. There's a dino coin set that's still readily available. $25 on the Toys R Us site, and with a sale you can get it cheaper. Unless you find someone who bought multiple morphers and is willing to unload his extra coins this is probably gonna be your cheapest option.

Considering most places have never seen Blue/Black/Pink In Space or the metallic MMPRs, the issue is not a lack of product, it's that the product the retailers DO get doesn't move. I still see places sitting on the same NS Blues and even Yellows from when the figures were originally released over a year ago.

Power Rangers is an odd beast. It's not like comic properties or Star Wars where people can cherry pick from a variety of unique characters. PR teams are very samey, and the lack of weapons doesn't help to distinguish them from one another. With PR you tend to have two types of people, those who want full teams, and those who only want reds and/or sixths. Moving the non-red core members is always going to be difficult because they don't stand out, and committing to a full team ends up running you $120. I think beyond MMPR, the legacy line would have been better suited to reds, sixths, and villains. Maybe you could throw in other popular Rangers from time to time like Jen or Zeo Adam, but I just don't think full teams work at a $20 price point.

Basic 5 inch figures are the only feasible way I can see full teams actually selling well. There's a big difference between $60 for a team and $120. If Bandai were to release 5 inch Alien and Ninja Storm Rangers within the Super Ninja Steel line for $10 a piece I don't think they would have any trouble selling. Also it would increase the odds of kids buying them thanks to the low price point, same scale, and similar themes. Dino Charge could have released metallic MMPRs and Dino Thunder, Kyuranger's adaptation could do In Space and SPD. I think it would be a hell of a lot more appealing to both the young and older fans than padding out the main line with useless cockpit modes.
>>
>>6576840
If they made them a little smaller, literally figuarts sized, to save on plastic, and sold them at $15, it would've helped so much. For one, they would've worked better with SHF. The 5'' sculpts are too shitty, though, I never touch those because they look even worse proportioned than the roid rangers. Super Legends had the perfect aesthetic and was about 6'' scale.

I like the 5 inch body sculpts better than legacy, particularly the girls. The front on view isn't the best for comparing the girls though as the legacy tits don't look as massive from straight on.

The 5" legacy line had the most asinine distribution I have ever seen in my 30 + years of action figure collecting.

It started with cases of straight Zedd, and it seemed like stores were getting two or more cases of him, so that was 24+ Zedds without any of the others to balance him out. The follow up to that was Jason, both Tommys, and... Zedd again... for some insane reason. Finally came cases of Kim, Billy, Trini, and Zack. The Kim and co cases were initially pretty limited. It seemed like stores only got a case or two and then they were gone for months as people bitched about not being able to find them. Perhaps Bandai underestimated demand? In any case, they did eventually get more of them into stores, only this time they were arriving in dedicated cases like Zedd initially did.

Now in theory this wouldn't have been terrible if stores were getting a case of each Ranger, but that wasn't what happened. The cases weren't distributed in any sensible manner, and stores were getting cases of nothing but one Ranger. Some stores only had Billys, others only had Trinis, others only had Zacks, it was a mess. Pic related shows a store that only got Billy cases.

Despite all this incompetence the figures eventually managed to sell through (in most places at least), and they apparently sold well enough to get a wide re-release a year or two later (they were initially exclusive to Toys R Us). The 95 movie figures were a bit better distributed, but they were still unnecessarily split between two cases instead of just putting the 7 figures in a single case and calling it a day.

Metallic Rangers have arrived!
>>
>>6580688
Does Green come with the Sword of Evil?
>>
>>6580696
He does. Green and white are just the regular versions and red is SDCC red, I picked him up at the con. They practically begged me to buy one. I don't think he was moving fast at the con.
>>
>>6580688
I just picked up Red. Not super impressed, but maybe that's because I only had White before this. He looks so good.
>>
>>6580688
Tell me about the Metallic paint! Why do they wear it?
>>

I'm gonna get the metallic bundle when it comes out.

Green, White, and Zeo Red. Whatever the fuck it's called.
>>
>>6580784
Bad news, it was the NYCC exclusive. It isn't coming out.
>>
>>6580784
But that GR is based off the Fighting Spirits episode that has the silver stripe on the helmet and the wrong color morpher. Wouldn't look right with the rest of the MMPR.
>>
>>6580830
What does this have to do with the fact that the set was a NYCC exclusive and won't be released otherwise?
>>
>>6580873
Do you not understand how to read threads?
>>
>>6565732
This can't be more than a prototype. I mean even the ankle pins aren't black. That's not a matter of paint, but just casting in the right color of plastic. Even BoA can't screw that up.
>>
>>6580770
In the show, main 5 and white had metallic armor upgrades, which just meant shiny spandex. In the toy line, Bandai loves to fuck over their customers so they made the metallic versions in order to redo MMPR with weapons this time. Unfortunately, the "metal" plastic looks fucking good and this is the only way to vote with actual money for weapons instead of BAFs so here we are.
>>
>>6581149
Does anyone else here not like the "metallic" look? It makes some of them look like they're made of jelly.
>>
>>6581154
I like the visual look but I do think it would look nicer on different figures. Not sure if it's the plastic but it looks almost translucent on the red ranger.

No matter how hard I try I just can't like the Legacy figures. If Bandai had actually consulted the fans before making them the figures would be very different. As they are they're "it's better than nothing" tier. People buy them begrudgingly because the perfect PR figures they got a taste of aren't being made anymore. Hell even Bandai America's own Super Legends were leagues better than these.
>>
>>6581211
>people buy them begrudgingly

There are many, many people who don't share your opinion, friend.
>>
>>6581211
Look man I don't like the Legacy figures either but to say that there aren't people out there stupid enough to is kind of ignorant
>>
>>6581154
I think it looks terrible. The half-assed semi-translucent swirly "metal" plastic companies use sucks.
>>
>>6581211
The fans dont make figure budgets
>>
>>6581221
Eh with how much the fucking white ranger of all things is shelfwarming, I don't think people care about them one way or another.
>>
>>6581211
You have to remember, in America, toys collectible or not are still looked at as a kid thing. Large companies like Hasbro, Mattel, BanDai make their toys geared towards 4+ years olds. If you want collector grade figures that's what the internet is for. If you want to pick up a mid range collectible go Walgreens while picking up some BandAids and banana chips.
>>
>>6581267
White Ranger is packed 2/6 in the case with the Space rangers and 4/6 in the MMPR only cases. Really doubt it's fans not caring about him.
>>
>>6580654
This years sentai team, the Alien orb ones I take it. I don't think BanDai even makes Sentai figuarts anymore.
>>
>>6581290
I hate to be that autist but it's Bandai.
>>
>>6581267
White Ranger is the best looking one and gets overstocked. Despite that, they STILL sell through. You really don't know what you're talking about.
>>
>>6581312
> they sell in my area so all the ones that don't are made up lies
>>
>>6581290
Also ToQger
>>
>>6581320
Widely reported, friend. You would be hard-pressed to find White Rangers sitting on shelves at this point, and as previously stated ITT, they constitute 1/3 and sometimes 2/3 of the entire stock due to demand.
>>
>>6581320
Is that the same as "nobody likes them and people only buy them begrudgingly!"
>>
>>6581221
>>6581259
Are people buying them because they genuinely like the figures, or because there isn't an alternative? All I seem to see is people bitching about them so I'd say it's the latter. Figuarts are still brought up as the gold standards years after the line died. If figuarts still existed today I can't imagine anyone would be buying these, but they don't, so people buy them while thinking "I wish the figuarts were still going."

>>6581263
The fans could have said don't make them in a retarded 6.5 inch scale. Don't give them cartoonish proportions with roided men and giant tittied women. Give them their god damned weapons instead of a useless build-a-figure.

Billy should have gotten the spotlight finally. Billy carries throughout the whole MMPR and Zeo seasons. Billy had all the ideas on how to win. Billy had all the inventions that allowed shit to happen. Teleporter wristwatch? Flying car? Figuring out how to beat each monster as it came? All Billy.

TLDR : Billy should have been the gold zeo ranger.

It's not just you. The shoulders, the chest diamonds are too small and the ab crunch breaks them up on the guys, the diamonds on the gloves and boots are shaped wrong, the morphers are huge, Red's helmet is way off model, and Green's is also off to a lesser degree. Not only are they awful looking compared to the figuarts, but they're even less accurate than the 5 inch figures which have accurately sized/shaped diamonds, properly proportioned morphers, normal shoulders, and better Red/Green heads.

literally nobody but you fucks thinks that billy is better than tommy unless he's black billy, black billy stole the movie and made it all watchable (unless you're a purist)

>>6584066

now, this, actually works on two levels, if they DID bring him back but he was gay, then they could explain it by a common enough "they were all me struggling to deal with my feelings" phase gays go through, and if they didn't, they could easily make him bi to have a "power rangers should not be homophobic, and all of us have since rgrown up, so even though he left because tommy was an ass to him when he caught billy looking at a boy (say, jason, zack or tommy himself.) he has grown up and apologized, bringing billy back, and billy has flirted with both genders.

if they wrote it well, and gave consideration to it so it was in there, it could be done either way while retaining the "we were wrong then and know it now" attitude it would have to have.

but, this is power rangers, it is home to cheesy writing and bad acting, so that's not likely.

Considering the shit David Yost put up with while he was on the show, it would be in considerably poor taste to write all that stuff on his character like that.

I'm fine with having a gay ranger or whatever since PR doesn't make their characters revolve entirely around one character trait, but retconning Billy like that is pretty insulting to Yost the same way making Sulu gay in the new Star Trek movie was to Takei.

Billy got screwed because he fucked Kimberly IRL as part of his desperate bid to cure himself of his homosexuality.

One of the executives at Fox had a huge crush on Amy and when he found out that she fucked him, he ordered Yost fired from the show, with Saban using his homosexuality as the excuse.

And now wave 4 is JUST MMPR red, blue and black.

If you actually think you're gonna get those Zeo, DT and psycho figs you're a fucking moron.
>>
>>6587548
It's an urban legend that circulated on usenet and Power Ranger forums in the late 90s and early 00s.

The rumor goes like this: when Power Rangers hit it big, one of the executives at Fox started dating Amy Jo. Everything is going good, until he gets her to quit the show by claiming he can make her a "real star". Amy Jo finds out that he's lying to her for pussy and dumps him after she quit the show, then has a one night stand with Yost post-break up because they are BFFs.

The exec finds out Yost had sex with Amy Jo and orders Saban to get rid of him/cockblocks having Billy be the Gold Ranger.

The firing didn't come outright at the start of Zeo because of issues with contracts (Yost had a long term deal Saban didn't want to void and get sued over) and the fact that he was praying that the executive would go away and he could keep Yost. To the point that the Phantom Ranger was supposed to be Billy, as a means to make him a Ranger again.

Yost's butt-hurt (from the original rumor) is that Saban kept lying to his face about being the Gold Ranger, until some of the writers basically told him what was going on. Yost and Saban got into a big fight, at which point Yost told Saban to fire him if he and the executive didn't want him around.

The whole "Amy Jo fucked David Yost to try and cure him of his homosexuality" came later, when Yost being gay/fired from the show came out and the rumor got twisted to incorporate that into the mix.

Another variation had Steve Cardenas being fired from the show, replaced with a pre-teen, being a direct result of this; that Cardenas openly took Yost's side when he found out how Saban and Fox were screwing with him, leading to Saban firing him at the end of Zeo when he was ordered to replace a cast member with a kid after Beetleborgs was a huge hit.

The only way I can get it to keep from collapsing is by resting one of the hands on Titanus's neck.

>>
>>6588470

>>
>>6588501
Yeah, but they keep sliding out and forcing the Sabertooth leg out.
I also can't figure out how these clips on the inside of the Dragonzord are supposed to fit onto the arms of the Megazord.
>>
>>6588507
Scratch that about the shoulder clips, I tore off the Megazord arms to get a better look, I hadn't been getting the horns through the back all the way.
>>
>>6588475
It's the preview for the next issue.
>>
>>6588507
Because Bandai is retarded and thought it would be a good idea to not only load up a Zord with diecast that another Zord needs to wear, but then the additional Titanus parts that the Megazord also needs to wear are also diecast. Zero forethought/testing, and the clips are their way of putting a bandaid on it after the fact.
>>
>>6588720
I think it would have been alright if the feet of the Dragonzord hadn't been metal.
Everything else sits on top, the feet jutting out are what fucks the balance.
That and the weak as fuck zordbuilder joints on the T-Rex.

>>
>>6588747
I've seen this said a million times, but zordbuilder has absolutely nothing to do with the stability issues. The problem is that the T-Rex knees don't lock securely into place. And while the Dragonzord feet may be the biggest part of the problem, having all that weight on top is still quite hazardous regardless of where it's positioned.
>>
>>6589034
Let me try this again.
The Sabertooth and Triceratops have really shitty zordbuilder joints. It would have helped if they were as heavy duty as the arms of the Megazord.

One problem. Many solutions. None of them chosen.
>>
>>6584875
Well, it would have to be done for reparations.

Either he returned and was made non straight, or he would need to return with a son or daughter that was not.
>>
>>6589038
Are you saying the Dragonzord just pops out of the leg ports? Because that's a new one I've never heard, nor experienced myself. The complaints have always been about the Tyranno knees being unable to support the weight of the Dragonzord and buckling.
>>
>>6589053
No, I mean that the weight of the Dragonzord added with the slight parting pressure of the braces has caused the legs to completely off a few times, and the braces are always wanting to slide off.
I've had no problems with the knees of the Tyranno wanting to slide forward. Sure, the braces make him stand up straighter, but they've never given out completely.
Half of my problems would be solved if the zordbuilder ports at the legs gripped the Tyranno harder. Then I'd just have balance issues.
>>
>>6589075
Really not understanding your issue. I've never had the legs just come off. I don't even know how that would happen.
>>
>>6589121
The knee brace separates the legs from the thighs enough to drop off. Usually happens with the Sabertooth.
I've had the leg drop off while the brace stayed in place.

> Amazing how many steps backwards Bandai has taken since then.

I feel like the last 3 years of Disney neglecting the show and the 2008 recession really fucked with the progress Bandai had made. Super Legends was a good line that came at the worst possible time and even though the interest was there they were not going to risk making chase figures of older seasons for the hardcore fans especially when they changed scales but still promised Zeo Ranger V and MMPR Pink.
>>
Could it be that BoA was trying to pander to the American market by aping the shoddy, roided, trash-bag-smelling Marvel Legends and making them these 6.5 inch monstrosities?
>>
>>6590202
I sorta wanted a vintage Power Rangers figure for the blocky but not roided out proportions, chest logo, and simple articulation.
>>
>>6590321
I think it's just flawed but highly pervasive ideas of American character design that makes them similar. Want to depict a powerful hero? Then he must be a beefed-out muscleman or he'll look like a bitch. A woman? Must have a giant pair of Pamela Andersons or it's pedo shit.
>>
>>6590048
>"give them more weapons".

If only
>>
>>6590321
That's exactly what it was, but PR isn't Marvel, and BoA has proven time and time again that they have no idea what the PR fanbase wants. The legacy figures fail in so many ways it's actually pretty impressive. I don't think I could miss the mark that badly if I tried.

And now they're bringing that same sort of incompetence over into the Zord line. Don't continue building on what you've started and give people the Shogun Megazord they've been waiting for, or even an OG Megazord 2.0, which would have been welcomed by many since the original isn't up to the same standard as the following releases. No, instead let's give people something they never asked for, non-transformable Dino Zords.

The thing most mind boggling to me is even if BoJ was certain that there wasn't a market beyond MMPR, why did they not try to at least milk that beyond the Rangers themselves? Bluefin kept trying to get them to make Zedd and they weren't having it. I'd think he and Goldar at the very least would be big sellers.

they don't make figures at all. Ninninger was the last one and they only did 3 of the males.

It's all about sofubis now.

>non-transformable Dino Zords.

These would be cool if they were good or super show-model accurate but they seem to have done nothing to take advantage of the non-transforming aspect.

I thought the MMPR Figuarts had mixed sales, followed by the next releases having terrible sales?

I regret not picking up the MMPR/Zyuranger team. By the time I was considering it, pink was overpriced and I didn't want to have a partial team.

I'm looking to sell all my Power Ranger/Sentai figuarts, how much are they going for?

I have most of the sentai reds and the complete zyuranger/power rangers team including white/green but I may keep green. Some of them are the zyuranger versions and others are the Power Rangers versions, so I have the extra akibaranger stuff for Red/Green but yellow ranger with boobs. They were all opened and displayed, I have the boxes but they boxes aren't in good condition and one weapon is superglued since I broke it *black rangers transformable axe.

So what's the deal with Hyper Force? Is it a game? Or a show based on a tabletop rpg? Pretty nice designs regardless.
>>

No, it was stated by Bluefin that MMPR sales were very good. The other releases I'm sure were terrible.
>>

The other releases were terrible enough not to bother continuing the series at all, despite MMPRs huge success. It's true that they never made either of the two teams who won the poll, but it was a small sample size (only a few hundred votes) and they didn't think that it indicated a strong desire for any one team. Not to mention you have all the people like Dr. Kain over on Tokunation who constantly demanded more and more only to pass or "wait for a sale" whenever they did announce something.

Bottom line, the MMPR figures sold thanks to 90s nostalgia, it wasnt primarily Power Rangers fans buying them and no other series would have been remotely as successful.

I think Zeo would have put up strong sales. At the very least they could've tested the waters with Red and Gold. Tommy and Jason are guarenteed sales.
>>
>>6591231
I've heard that the Japanese have no interest in Zeo, though whether that is true is up for debate.
>>

Ohranger had some of the worst ratings, but great toy sales, granted thats more due to the DX zords than the ranger figures given how Japan markets sentai.
>>

The Japanese clearly weren't buying the figures in the first place, hence why the DBZ line was dead in the water until the US market resuscitated it. Ranger figuarts failed because of BoJ's stubbornness to cater to the people who were buying them.

They didn't make the toy most popular teams from the poll, but it's not like they never made anything that would appeal to Power Rangers fans. All of SPD and Ninja Storm were available (not including the sixth rangers) and they even released US versions of Samurai which met with lackluster sales despite being very limited quantities.

Appealing to the US fans clearly wasn't working, which again is the reason why the relatively small sample size of the poll wasn't taken seriously by BoJ. At best, they could have squeezed a few extra months of life out of the line, but I doubt that would have helped anyway.

MMPR sold by nostalgia, not because of Power Rangers fans.

>5-INCH 2-PACK FIGURES
>Dino Thunder Black vs. Giant skull
This better be real. It would give us the only complete collection of all Tommy's suits, including the 95 movie, in the same scale/style. Bandai needs to be doing more of this. Stop re-releasing Rangers people already have in these 2-packs and make some new damn characters. There's still a market for 5 inch figures of older teams.

Those aren't the actual prices retailers buy them for is it? They seem wayy too low from what I've seen. Either that or Canada has to pay a whole lot more.
>>

Just let me buy a whole case of the Psycho Ranger waves fuck. I already know I'm never gonna see them at retail.
