Anons i need help from Klocki purists.

Im working with a guy who wants to make few specific minifigure keychains to sell as sets.
We going to build them, superglue parts and attach keychains.

The thing is - i found needed parts that can be done to create our character BUT they are not quite common.
So buying tons of those parts like torsos or legs from bricklink might be expensive.

So we came up with idea - just orger clear minifig torso and legs. And then i will design stickers that will be attached to those clear torso/legs.
Stickers will be made of high quality transparent plastic so they supposed to look good.

This is a very "niche" market idea (and the target group are people after 30) but its going to sell in one community.

Im just questioning if making Stickers for lego minifigs will scare buyers away...
Im kind of purist i guess. And i wouldn't buy a minifigure with sticker instead of print.
However the target group of people are neither purists nor even lego enthusiasts...so i guess they wouldnt be triggered by that as much?
>>
So I found this the other day; seems like some of you anons could find it useful:

>>
>>6616191
Depends on the community I guess, but I am by no means one of the stricter "purists" on this board, but wouldn't buy a keychain with stickers. Stickers, no matter the quality, will wear and peal being on keys being handled and bouncing around in your pocket all day.

It can be Halloween every day if you really want to! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lDXpJqaHwY
My comfy Dracula apartment is still next to my monitor and i have no plans to change that.
>>
>>6616191
Keychain minifigures apparently go through a lot of wear and tear from being in pockets all day. People used to post pictures of their minifig keychains they've had for years here, and they'd always be scuffed up and missing legs and hands and shit. Stickers probably won't be your best option.
>>
>>6616220

Your a plastic crack fiend now. Don't worry its all love when you're addicted to the cracki
>>
>>6616191
I am no expert on printing techniques, but stickers would probably not be a favourite among more hardcore fans. Some older minifigs in the late 70s/80s actually had stickers on their torso atleast. So doing it in that style might fetch nostalgia points for some.
But as mentioned before, keychains get a lot of wear compared to just display and play ones from scraping around your pockets and bags. Some people i think etch prints in bricks using lazer or watercutting. Might look something like that up. I think the Pro Lego channel guy did that at some point.
>>
>>6616220
Welcome aboard. It's a slippery slope. Blew about 100$ more than i initially intended this week too.
Ah well, atleast i can comfort myself into thinking these rare parts and figures will only be harder and pricier the older they get.

The sets I'm interested in don't seem to be very good investments anyway. I ordered this from Target since they have a promotion for a lego christmas tree with your order and I've wanted a real lego set for a while.

I just paid my credit card bill, from last month, and I already made 5 orders from BL, and I'm currently staring at 4 open carts that will probably hit my quota for this entire month.

Certainly a dangerous hobby if you don't have a good steady income. I'd love to get the Old Fishing Store or Joker's Mansion playsets but it's hard to justify $150-300 for a set of bricks.

Thanks anon! I went through a couple different builds before I remembered that I had those horns.

I enjoy brickbuilt animals.

>From top: a common shreep. Note the forward-placed eyes and vacant gawk typical of its breed.

>Fancy Southland Shreep. The combined weight of its pronounced jaw and crown make this shreep unsuitable for heavy fieldwork.

>Baggy-cheeked Full Shreep. The 'full' in this case refers to its high, thick rump. This breed is prized for its amount of meat. Nomadic herders often make a delicious stew from the well-portioned cuts.

>Spring-tailed Rock Shreepa. Rarely seen, as its preferred habitat is inhospitable mountain crags at extremely high altitudes. Folklore says it hoards treasure, but it's probably just a dumb animal.

>Working Southland Shreep. A large, sturdy beast popular in regions where buckows are unsuitable.

>Black-tufted Mountain Shreep. Unlike the more commonly known Mountain Shreep, the Black-tufted Mountain Shreep's horns have grown far past the edges of its skull in an impressive display that causes a ton of problems if they get stuck in a wooded area.

>Bristle-backed Shreemp. Originally bred to miniature size during a short-lived fad among a vanished caste of nobility, it has proven a tenacious survivor due to its ability to digest even more than the common shreep and its ability to reproduce three months after birth. The heavy tusks are anchored to a thick set of shoulder muscles, allowing it to dig its way through most obstacles on its incessant quest for food.

>Short-statured Sharphorn Shreep. A relatively recent breed, its lineage can be traced to the original crossing of a mountain shreep with a dwarf shreep. It fares poorly in the wild.

I also really like the "merlock power". It's crazy how many of those power pieces I have and how few of them look good for display. Finding one thats the right color and isn't a hotdog can be hard.

Do you mean built using the pieces of a specific set? No, I wanted it to look like cobbled together from scraps but as I built it the half-and-half themed emerged.

I will change the MOC, I want dark blue "pants" to match my cop minifigs and definitely add a belt with the mugs, sadly I only have one red mug but I will buy more. I also want to photoshop it on a lego city box.

thats a fucking stupid question
any lego set is a must have depending on what you want to build.

Of course there is a bricklink but sometimes i prefer randomly buying small sets and seeing where i can go with them.
Seeing you using the "Grown Up Men" card i can say you still in school or very young student so you still have that complex from years when playing with toys were not cool (during teenage years)

I was actually going to do this when somebody said that the first time I posted it but I got distracted and never got around to it. I should do that right now.

>Liar! You made those abominations with baby heads!
True, and I might steal JANG's idea at some point in the future and use headless minidolls as department-store mannequins.

My point is that the intended audience of the sets doesn't matter, only what you do with the parts. You can use Duplo, System, and Technic all in one moc if you want!

The girls' themes have come a long way since Scala. I feel the builds are generally more novel and creative than in the boys' themes, and the minidolls have a certain charm as well. And I'm definitely not being paid by Lego to say that.

Would whirl the wheel with.

>>6618051
Yeah, apart from the colours and occasional super usefull and elegant prints, the friends sets really have their own style. They tend to use a less parts intensive and abstract style to represent a wide variety of small minifigure scale details you wouldn't see that often in regular city stuff. Stuff like food, drinks, countertops, furniture, showers and that kind of stuff. I lifted quite a few techniques because i'm a sucker for small in-scale homely props like that.

While i'm still not a fan of the more regular friends minidolls, the more fantastical and specific ones can look really good. I liked the elves figures, superheroes, disney ones and especially the upcoming malificent. That one looks almost on par to me with the regular cmf one despite being a minidoll.

Thanks, the Duplo engine block (lol) and the Technic scoop are what gave me the idea for the whole thing. There was only one store on Bricklink that had both pieces in stock so I lucked out being able to get the parts pretty quickly after thinking it up. You're looking at things from a set/theme collector's standpoint. If you look at it from a builder's standpoint, no Lego purchase is ever stupid, no matter what theme. Sets are just parts that can be used to build whatever you want in whichever color you choose.

On the whole though I'd say your question is stupid, because you not liking thing doesn't mean that others have to not like thing.

>tfw your town's grocery store was the only place that sold comics and they only carried Archie and Marvel
I really like '80s DC stuff but there's too much to dig through. They had a lot of really good artists during that decade.
>>
>>6619301
They're a Clone Wars era ship so they got to shine there a bit (especially against the Malevolence in the cartoon series). Most recently, however, they had some fun in Rogue One even using a character from ANH via reused footage and new recordings form the same actor. Got to ion bomb a Star Destroyer so it could be rammed into another and both left to destroy the shield over Scarif.

May not have even been returned, could have been something someone brought to the front and decided they didn't need klocki as much as some discounted electronic whatever, etc. Hard to believe, I know, but some people don't value Lego as much. But we, oh yeah, we are banking our retirements on these things, right guys?

Anyway it could have easily found its way from a front lane's bin to the reshop carts. Not that it's a big deal.

Build yourself a nice stockade and maybe a guard house for an entrance to the city. I plan on building Ye olde Lawyers office above a Ye olde Dentist and Barber's building. They will go right next to my Ye olde inne and suites, potion shoppe, and inner city housing complex. But currently I'm planning out the city's sewers so the Tavern can have a trap door to the underground.

Bear and hillbillygold turbo requester here.
Holy shit you actually did it! The ABSOLUTE madman!

>>6620579
The nose doesn't really communicate the recogniscable shape of the original to me. It's quite blocky. And the one plate thickness window slit looks almost like a regular sized window in this scale. I think it'd be best to search around for the semi-spherical parts to experiment with for the cockpit sectionm, or maybe size up just a bit.
I do really like it though, from the thumbnail it looks really good. Feels like a more sleek and sci-fi american vietnam style helicopter.

>>6621174
>>6621169
Still not a fan of the 4-wide cockpits, but holymoly these all look amazing! Puts the 6-wide i'm waiting parts for to shame atleast in the looks department.

>>6621435
Man with the right prints and colours this could look amazing, so many options with older tiles.
Great idea anon.
>>
>>6622924
>Still not a fan of the 4-wide cockpits, but holymoly these all look amazing!
This.

But seriously more people should be making six-wides that fit two minifigs.
>>
>>6622853
I have never put together the fits mobile despite buying several of those sets just to turn Thanos torso into Fallout figs.

I really should build the fist mobiles, though.
>>
>>6622856
You’re doing gods work, f zero anon
>>
>>6622936
Well i've got atleast one coming up for you soon.
Has a fun rim/wheel solution i came up with, a silly hood/engine setup and the shortest 6-wide twoseater wheelbase i've used as of yet.
Couple of my other cars atleast got some upgrades. The one i know atleast one anon really liked and even made some variations of in ldd.
>>
>>6621169
This inspired me to look up some actual Speed Champions sets for potential purchase and boy was I disappointed. The MOCs are so much better.

Which sets should I buy to get a start on pieces for a six-wide pic related?
>>
>>6622924
>Holy shit you actually did it! The ABSOLUTE madman!
You bet you krocki ass I did. Had some fund building it!

>>6622936
I agree, too bad I'm always short on pieces to build these things, the only one I made was the taxi I posted here before.
>>
>>6622977
>six-wide

Yeah but why
>>
>>6622977
Really depends on what you want. Do you want a 4wide or 6-wide windscreen? What colour?

Not sure what level you're at, but if you don't build cars that often i'd atleast look up the instructions of a couple of speed-champs and moc some up in ldd or stud.io or something.
Start of by trying to aproximate the most iconic parts of it (the black slits in the front probably)
>>
>>6622977
>The MOCs are so much better.

yeah, but the sets have some neat building techniques sometimes, and good parts. Lots of tiles, brackets, they introduced new windshields, pretty nice wheels and fenders. They're a good base to start from IMO.
>>
>>6622998
Preferably able to fit two minifigures but willing to reconsider.

>>6623009
I am relatively experienced in building but I've never done a car before, so I'll definitely be checking out some more MOCs.
But mainly I don't have any wheels or windshields or anything so I thought I might look for an existing speed champion that fits the bill enough to expand on.
Probably white, by the way. If not red.
>>
>>6622586

wow.
But I guess you are okay with the CoD right?
did you see that sexy Nazi in the new leaks?
>>
>>6623023
I'd try and get atleast some of the speedchampions wheels and tires. There aren't any sets with of the white fender pieces on the market now probably. They came in 4 in one really big porsche set in 2015, and in sets of 2 in a few more recent Audi racecar sets.
The wheels also fit well under the older style of rounded fenders, but only the shorter version of the two!
There are several sets that come with a set of 4 red fenders. I think the most recent one was the FXX ferarri, but it comes with a rather large aerodynamics testing structure you might not care about.
>>
>>6623038
Thanks for the advice, anon. I'll check 'em out! I don't mind winding up with some extra pieces.

Does anyone here have any experience building larger things from more "standard" bricks? I'd like to make a shelf or maybe a small statue from squares and rectangles. I could use bricklink store recommendations and maybe how many bricks you might have used to make cool stuff.

>>
>>6623101
Don't know of any. But some groups make the large life-size brickbuilt models for stores and such. Maybe look into those and see who makes them.
For bricklink stores, depends on where you live and what you want. I'd first maybe mock up something in LDD, sculpting a thing with just regular bricks, adjusting colours afterwards.
Then make wanted lists for all the different colourschemes you might like and search for them by store.
If you really want something seriously big, some stores sell pieces at relatively low prices but at pretty ridiculously high quantities that you might fall under. These are sometimes called superlots.

My slowly-dying Kmart finally put up a STORE CLOSING sign this week. All their closing "discounts" bring their prices back down to the MSRP.

For fuck's sake, Lego. If you could make Basketball minifig head prints go all the way around their studs, you can figure out a way to print some black around the face and conceal the rest. This looks like absolute shit, like all yellow skin printing on dark ABS.
