Yep. You can still see them on some of the tiles. I actually kept some on for building reasons, the rockets on this one are only kept on via the tension created by the sprues against the pickup truck's bed.

Do you guys know any good brands that sell original designs? I don't have my "real" Lego here and I want to build a spaceship or two for cheap. I'm not looking for the Star Wars knockoffs though.

That chicken thing looks pretty cool but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.
>>

I'm not even convinced there are this many brands, knowing China it's just a bunch of shell companies under the same leadership solely for the sake of building brand warriors and giving the illusion of a choice. I've bought from several of them myself and not one has been notably better or worse than another.
>>
>>6632236
Yeah, this is probably the case. I keep noticing little things like different companies having very similar minifigs or the exact same not-quite-lego colors, sharing parts etc.

Gudi is pretty good for this, I've got a few sets. Decent designs and decent quality, not quite as good as Lego but it's one of the best clones.

Enlighten is slightly lower quality, but has a really neat Space Police theme.

I can't find Gudi's homepage/catalog/whatever so here's a store with a decent selection:

I've never bought a Gudi set, so I can't attest to their quality, but those joints should be fine as long as the connections aren't too loose. They look like Kreo joints.

Thanksgiving's done and I'm bored, here's a small review

Pretty nice. The full mechs look overpriced so I just grabbed two of the basic frames, $12 on Amazon.

The clip/bar connections are really tight, to where I worry about breaking the clips if using them with Lego parts. aside from that, quality is really high, high quality, the ball joints are the same as Lego, the parts assemble into a mech with attachment points sticking out in every direction, it's worth the price I think.

Do you have an account, and are you signed in? I don't have one, this may be why. Also, what payment method do you use when ordering? I'm unsure of which one to use. Is everything in USD, because it would be easier in GBP? Sorry to ask you so many questions, I'm completely new to AliExpress and could do with some help.
>>
>>6641689
Yeah, I'm signed in, but I actually did it with the mobile app. I would assume it would be similar with the website though, and if your location setting is correct, then it should show everything in your local currency. Btw I would recommend using the app if you're able, because some sellers give discounts to mobile users.

I think their easiest payment method is their Alipay service. You basically just give Alipay a credit or debit card number, and then you use that to buy things. From what I understand, the way Alipay works is whenever you buy something the money for that item get put into your Alipay wallet, and once you confirm with AliExpress that you received it, then Alipay sends the money to the seller. If you have any issues, then you can always open a dispute for a full or partial refund. Most sellers that I've dealt with have been fairly accommodating with any issues I've had.

The "good"
Overall: Okay-ish
Positives: Wealth of parts, including 5 light blue unprinted torso shells and articulated hands. Interesting lower leg design. Full, large instructions with few errors.
Negatives: Usual upper end of substandard parts. Bad upper arm design.

Notes: Not a fan of the head/face shell printing, but the under head looks kinda cool on these types. Arm design is oddly articulated and not very strong. Mostly get these for parts. The lower leg design looks like it would be good for powered armor or mecha.

The "bad"
Overall: Bad
Positives: Wealth of parts and articulated hands. Full, large instructions with few errors.
Negatives: Usual upper end of substandard parts. Bad upper arm design. Terrible leg design.

Notes: Second one of these I've gotten, first one was worse. Legs relying on 1/2 of a pin connection to connect the end two ball joints, along with substandard quality parts results in being very fragile and almost incapable of standing on it's own. While the figure itself is bad, it's still great for parts.

The "ugly"
Overall: Okay-ish
Positives: Good for parts. Full, large instructions with few errors. Had two extra parts. Dat head...
Negatives: Usual upper end of substandard parts. One part unfinished*. Dat head...

Notes: *The unfinished part may be more of a positive, as I've had to redesign things before to accommodate for that parts 3 hole size. The part still works for it's intended function. Kinda basic, but functional build.

Dat head...

It's like a big, empty, fleshy minifig head with removable hair. Looks like a smug fat kid. It's delightfully horrifying. It's so uggo bad, it's good.

Overall notes:
>>Scale: Great, good, okay, bad, terrible.
So far in my experience, most sets have been "Okay-ish", somewhere in the lower range of okay/upper range of bad.
It would also seem different sellers on Ali get their supplies from different suppliers, batches, or something. This last batch from this seller was slightly better quality, bigger instructions, and each one came in its own factory sealed bag, unlike before. Also, wanted to give "the bad" one another chance, as I've seen differing qualities result in differing builds, plus its got some good parts.

Oh also meant tp say ypu get a brick seperator and not sure about the other parts I tossed on there.

Medic cat is the loosest joint wise and has a tripple barrel cannon on his belly that pops off alot. Almost all joints are T connections that give a swivel and a arc bend.

Articulation: Neck, mid body, tail base, tail mid, tail end, all 4 hips (cats have 4 hips?) Front upper legs, front paws, rear upper legs, rear mid legs, and rear paws.

I got those off AliExpress a few months back. If you like them, then their should be another set of 4 out there's somewhere. I didn't bother with the robot forms though, I just got cause the animal forms are totally made to look like Zoids. This company also made a set of chibi style Gundam mechs.

Green can akimbo his beam guns

The mecha modes have some neat design ideas but suffer from some rickity joint connections. Cat modes almost aleays used 2 clips on the T-bar joints where these tend to use just 1, so you will have to jurry rig/mod stuff to make them more stable. So far the parts are holding up and only seen vary miner stress marks. Next steep is super robot mode which I will see about doing tomorrow.

>yeah, this will amount to jack shit because the Chinese government will give a damn

Let me guess, a tiny country that Lego can influence massed this ruling, so it'll only apply there and nowhere else.

>first

They've won several court cases against these KOs, it's not stopped them- at best it blocks retail sale in whatever country the ruling was handed down in- the key word being "retail", not online sales.

Plus they couldn't hope to win in the US what with most of their patents being long expired. The best they could hope for are against direct copies of full sets, but again, China, like it'd matter.

>>
Got a package from China today. My chrome Spacemen are suppose to come tomorrow.

Here’s a dump of what I got and mini reviews.

First, some random Japanese man because he came with the next figure. Fuck this guy.
>>
>>6665948
So he came with this guy. Kamen Rider Black or Masked Rider. Really upset abou his eyes. The paint is so thin and messy. Body print is nice. Might try to order him again in hopes of a nicer head.
>>
>>6665949
So this is an amazing sculpt. The body print is ok except for the toes. Where it fails is the head barely fits on the neck peg. The tail/shoulder piece takes up so much of it.

Wish it was better because it makes me not want to order the new Predator one.
>>
>>6665952
He has such builds to show you...

Body printing is very plain and sloppy. Head is a nice LEGOfied version of the character.

‘But the reason I bought it was for the Lament box. It’s only a single tile with a square piece to attach it to. I mean it works but I was hoping for a full box.
>>
>>6665955
Not enough orange. Eh. Now Hitler has someone to hang with.
>>
>>6665956
So here is where they put all the orange!

Nice figure. Cant wait to play around with some monster heads in it.
>>
>>6665949
I need that. Are there any other Kamen Rider designs? I would kill for a Shadow Moon.

I also got the xenomorph and pinhead
No problems with the head attaching yo the body on Mine, and I really like the backpack tail piece, that is clever. The double stacked tile for the Configuration allows it to do that half rotation when it opens.
>>
>>6665961
I like Christmas builds. It’s thebonly thing I still really do with LEGO anymore.

Got it to use the sweater on my sigfig. Back print is a bit off center but it’s otherwise fine.

I’ll even use my old trip for this and the last post for tonight!
>>
>>6665948
>some random Japanese man because he came with the next figure. Fuck this guy.

That's Minami Kotoro, Kamen Rider Black's human form.
>>
>>6665965
Last pic for tonight. I had to have this and wouldn’t have made the order otherwise.

My two favorite things. Christmas and my ever growing alcoholism.

Head is going in the trash and the bottle is a weird shape.

Printing is great. Right down to the booze soaked shirt.

See you all tomorrow with the Spacemen.
>>
>>6665963
Not yet. They released some a few years back but the heads just looked like Gashpon toy heads stuck on bodies. I think they were from the fruit themed Riders? Color scheme wise.

I’d buy a Shadow Moon too. Only really know older Riders from buying bootleg toys as a young kid in the 80s.

>>6665966
I know. Still fuck him. Nobody wants Bruce Wayne/Peter Parker/Clark Kent.

Should I hope for someone to make better versions of these or just grab them anyway?

Tygra and Mumm-Ra look great, Cheetara’s expression is odd yet the figure is passable, but Lion-O and Panthro look very weak to me. Plus generic weapons are kind of a letdown from what I would desire.

Very few bootlego figs are designed from scratch so unless there are 3D models floating around (like the MotU set from a few weeks ago) or someone already sells customs that can be copied, I'm afraid the odds are very low.

I bought the bootfigs specifically for this game, but I quickly discovered that the printing was so shitty that it was coming off while shooting. This was because I had sticky-tack on his mouth, but some of the other figs' printing started rubbing off just from handling their heads.

Still, for $4.98 and free shipping it was worth it.

I have no clue if the godzillas and riders on ali are produced by them (doesn't seem to be much of a company, probably just two or three guys essentially making garage kits) or if some bootlego company is recasting them - probably the latter considering the fb page has no mention of any godzilla recolors, and on top of that the riders are older but never showed up on ali before.

That looks cool. All the transparent minifigs I have turned out to be complete garbage though.

WHY DO WE NEVER GET COOL SHIT LIKE THIS FROM OFFICIAL COMPANIES

Fuck sake, movie might have actually done better if it had this kind of thing stateside instead of a bunch of substandard figures and statueshit.
>>
>>6680853
Pre-Disney deal, that seems like something that could've been done by Mega, for sure, and would've been sweet as hell. Of course, you could've monkey-pawed it and ended up having sets by the people that did those awful Stargate and Terminator sets.

>>6680840
Woefully incomplete of course, but it's a start. I think what bugs me most is simply labeling those Armor Hero or whatever Chinese series figures as if they're Power Rangers.

>>6680125
Thanks for the clarification! Just means more figures to order from AliExpress next time. I ordered one each of the five previous Godzilla figures, will report in once I have them.

>WHY DO WE NEVER GET COOL SHIT LIKE THIS FROM OFFICIAL COMPANIES

When you don't have to pay anything to design your pieces, your materials are cheaper than the industry standard, and you can just ride Lego's coattails for marketing and brand awareness, you can afford to shotgun out weird sets that may or may not be extremely profitable.

Lego has to be conservative because they're the ones actually blazing the trails.
>>
>>6681205
https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Millennium-Falcon-75192
>this is fine
Lego should make toys not miniatures, the appeal of Legos was that you could take it apart and make something else, now they have overly specialized pieces on overdesigned sets with over 7500 pieces. This is nothing but a cashgrab, Lego had a bunch of original setting now it's popular movies.
>>
>>6680964
>I think what bugs me most is simply labeling those Armor Hero or whatever Chinese series figures as if they're Power Rangers.

They're from an animated Super Sentai/Power Rangers knockoff show, which practically unknown outside China. There's a decent chance that's what their names actually are, or Herobloks may have just named them that because he didn't know what else to call them.

>some sort of toy soldier gun probably not even meant to go with bricks and a horse
>cool

There is quite a lot of relatively well-designed bootlego stuff but this is not a good example.
>>
>>6681325
>some sort of toy soldier gun probably not even meant to go with bricks

Those guns are more then likely cloned from Brickarms stuff. They are relatively common in military related minifig sets.
>>
>>6681355
Maybe he's talking about that one with a big tripod in bottom left corner, that's definitely not a brickarms copy.

Nobody forces you to buy huge sets, you probably won't even see them at normal retail, and considering there's still a lot of 10-20$ ones and a wide range of bootlegs and alternatives in affordable prices I really don't get what your problem is

Fucking Aliexpress sellers. Averaging about 50% of my orders ever being complete. The other half never get everything shipped & have to open a dispute for a refund. Just want me damn bootlegos. Think I may just order 1 at a time instead of any greater number of things in an order from now on. Guess they cant handle numbers greater than two.
>>
>>6683396
that's some bad luck, anon.
I had 1 order that I had to dispute, and 1 that's had the seller lie about shipping, it's been a month and a half and I'm not sure it will arrive. 9 others that went well, if slow.
>>
Can anyone here point me in the direction of some sellers that sell nice bootleg minifigs? And I don't mean the Starwars and superhero stuff. I bought some knights that were kind of nice but I have trouble finding more like it as all my searches mostly yield Star Wars minis.
>>
>>6683610
what terms are you using in search?

I can't think of any specific stores. but search strings like 'castle figure blocks' and 'knight blocks' give me a bunch of knightly results like

Best modern military bootlego minifigures to build my rebel army on a budget? preferably the ones available on amazon for convenience. They dont have to be perfect cause they'll be in mostly one pose for extended period of times i just want them to look sorta real and not fall apart

They have lots of different knights figs, and many of them are copies of older Lego Knights.

>>

Yes, but expect slight sanding for some gears, if any, to mesh smoothly. That was my experience with their Emerald Night.
>>
>>6690557
How was the build quality? I got the Chinese tavern and the brick tolerance was pretty bad. Baseplate, second story, and roof curled really badly when I put them together
Also the build itself was super flimsy and fell apart at a light touch
>>
>>6694075
It was fine until the retarded rooftop build. The pool rests on top of the roof without any support under it and it's prone to collapse. I had to fix it with my own spare parts.
Also the space for the battery operated lights is super cramped.
>>
>>6692205
It looks like a simplified ripoff of this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/47062214@N00/33874808522/
