Topic: Would anyone buy a BW Rampage styled like pic related in bot mode? PE have been knocking their BW inspired figures out of the park, and whilst I love the original toy, a proper update would be nice.
>>
>>6659491
>>6659353
>>
>>6659491
Maybe. PE's Black Arachnia was cold shit, their Beast Gorira was amazing sans the few weak joints (mostly not important but still a noticeable facet). Leonidas was utter dogshit (this counts as 2 releases, maybe 3 as punishment because they took a second whack at the same mold and still fucked up).

So 1/4 (or 1/5 if I'm being an asshole) isn't the best track record for Beast Wars figures. I hope Megs turns out well but I'm not gonna pretend my expectations are high.
>>
>>6659491
I would buy basically anything Rampage. Make it a mecha crab, make it crab tank, make it organic, doesn't matter, I'm in.

The greatest thing TFCC ever did was give me a new Depth Charge but he needs an updated enemy.

Alright, after work today I'll come up with a pastebin or google doc plus a strawpoll to see how many people want an organized OP. I personally think the little bit of effort required will be good for those just getting into the hobby. I mean it's natural for us who have been here since the dawn of Hercules and FP upgrades, but I can see how confusing it could be for those who only bought official toys and figures.
>>
>>6659514
I mean, that's nice I guess, but what info do "new comers" even need besides: here's where you can buy them from, go look.

Just can we not get into the autistic shit fit TFG's been going through with their OP. It's dumbest fucking thing I've ever seen on this board.
>>
>>6659514
Sounds good, as long as the pool isn't spammed by antilinkfags using multiple IPs like it happened on /tfg/ once.
>>
>>6659533
I was thinking about common things like the fact there are often multiple toys of any given character, the three "scales", basic info on the companies, where to buy, and maybe a list of some prominent released toys and upcoming releases.
>>
>>6658912
Love this photo. Gestalts should look like hulking behemoths.

>>6659491
I'd love an updated Rampage. I'm not hung up on show accuracy. Despite its flaws, I loved Generations Rhinox and the updated design. Same for Beast Gorira. My only knock on Rampage is those massive claws, which make up half the mass of the figure, do nothing but sit on his back in robot mode. I don't know how else they could be handled though, other than making them detachable.

So, my Qunatron's wrist clip snapped when trying to attach the hand to Blindfire, it still attaches but will fall off if any weight is put on it and also wiggles a lot. I heard this was an issue with one the later Quantron releases. Is there a fix or a way to get a replacement?

Official Legends weight in at around 4 inches. 3P ones tend to be a bit more scattershot. Some bigger, some smaller, some right on par. Depends on the character. Got two pics here for you. First one here, Bumblebee is official, the rest are some IF figures.

As a long time op I ask we don't go this way. Keep the threads comfy like they've been. Shit like this ruined Figuarts threads. The reg OP wasn't around so I tried to make one and was raked over the coals for not having the right format.
Not to mention 3rd party figures don't really have a set release date. They just pop up when their ready to ship.

>>6659750
Well that would be the overssturation of 3p stuff wouldn't it?
>>
>>6659750
>A lot of 3p stuff hasn't been clearing out like it used too
Depends on the character and company. FT Galvatron came out around the beginning of the year and sold out shortly there after with no reissue in sight yet.
>>
>>6660101
Logo and linking another thread is fine. Maybe some info on decent companies and what they produce would be alright. But trying to track every 3P release even as a joke would probably give even the most autistic detail monger carpel tunnel just trying to compile a list that would be outdated within days.
>>

Not sure how many grains of salt it should be taken with, but apparently GCI lists March as a time frame for re-issue.

Anyone with MT Wrestle (and/or Hellfire) that wants to weigh in on him? I'm spying him still on sale at TCP, and think he would make for a good rounding out of the trio to my MMC Backdraft and MP Artfire. But I would say that I'm...wrestling...with the decision.
>>

>Shit like this ruined Figuarts threads
So you're mad at the figuarts general because of a mistake you made?
They pretty much need that shit because newfags come in and out all the time
It's pretty much the reason why there is a few dedicated namefags that do it for plenty of generals. The most notable one being Figmoe Lurker
Don't get mad at other anons for not understanding how other generals with a lot of releases and protypes that are also newfag magnets work..
This general definitely doesn't need something on that level, but linking to threads should be the least of your concerns in life.

The only time MMC could have been somewhat refered to as "one of the big names" was when they were releasing the Predacons. Not only their stuff was selling well but they would also receive nothing but praise from the fandom. Things that happened before and after that, eh. The HOS stuff didn't sell, Terminus Hexatron sold only because it was the only option at the time and yet tons of people were hating on its look and several started to botch about the quality. The DJD line isn't selling well either, nobody cares about Classics anymore, the only reason they had to reissue some figures is because they know their stuff only interest a very low number so they're super careful with production numbers. Today, when someone mentions MMC, there's a 50% chance they'll comment about how their stuff is QC ridden or how ugly it is.

>The DJD line isn't selling well either,
Despite what you said about production numbers you do realise the Tarn figure alone is on its fifth reissue? Cycnicus (Vos) is on his fourth, and Anarchus (Kaon) is on its third. Even if they are smaller production numbers thats a huge number of units sold, and to say they're not selling well is insane.
I agree with the rest of your statement though.

Still working on the individual figures themselves. Whoever designed these feet for Mixmaster needs to be taken out back and beat. Probably until he goes cross eyed.
Liking the individual figures so far though, as I work through them one at a time. They're no Iron Factory in terms of "Oh my God everything is visually perfect", but they're definitely solid little figures, with 2 of 6 transformed so far. I've also got a sticker set (several sticker sets, actually) coming for these dudes, plus some generic symbols, and stuff for my IF Magnus and Scorponok, since Toyhax is having a sale on all that stuff. But thats all on my own dime.
>>
>>6661263
Mixmaster is 100% the weakest individual bot, but he's still kind of stupidly endearing. Outside of that, short arms and lack of neck swivel are my only actual complaints with Hulkie.

Yeah, I knew about the lack of head swivels. I have this thing about DX9 where I feel most of their figures got like, 90% completed...And then they just completely forgot the last pass of polish to the figure. I really am liking the set so far, but there is seriously no reason they couldn't have made all of the heads except for maybe Mixmaster (because of his inherently fucked up design with his head suck inside of his body, but he's always like that) on ball joints.

Loving Scavenger though. All of the joints on everyone so far (4/6) have been tight, though his left arm ball joint is a biiiiit looser than the rest. Might give him a drop of the ol' floorpolish.

Unfortunately Scrapper seems to have nearly fused leg swivels. Shit. Guessing the paint is whats doing it. I dunno what to do here, not sure if graphite lube would get'em going. They budge a bit, but barely.

>>6661279
My actual problem is any of the Christmas stuff we have around here is like...Christmas balls and stuff. And most of them have glitter on them. And I personally hate glitter. I spent a literal month last year vacuuming my apartment because my mother put glitter on EVERYTHING SHE GAVE ME. It was like a glitter nuke went off in my crappy little hovel. And I really don't want to get glitter all over my figures, it was bad enough it wouldn't come out of the carpet, or my hands, or my clothes, or my dog, or my roomie's cat...

I'll see if I can find something in here that isn't shedding glitter like a diseased animal sheds hair.

Alright, got Scrapper's thighs working. No one except the companies themselves know. This is a pointless discussion. It's marginally more productive to consider social media presence and how often fansites and online retailers advertise products to guess at how succesfull these third party companies are. My guess is that FT, MMC, and Maketoys are the most succesfull seeing as FT announcments are advertised and on pre-order instantly, MMC is constantly shilled even that horrible Asterisk Kultur , and Maketoys pulled that pr stunt with Galaxy Meteor and got away with it.

Alright, here we go, combined mode. Now, I know one part of him isn't hooked in properly, it's because I think the hole is a bit too small. I might have to see if I can get it in later. But I have to say, otherwise, he is damn impressive. A bit of a design error that his right knee can't go alllll the way back without unpegging the leg, but I'll consider that a minor flaw. He looks good, his hand holds the gun solidly as long as you don't plug the gun in (which was an issue many reviewers had, dunno why they never fixed plugging it in, oh well), but he's big, he's green, and he works. Articulation is good, he holds together well even with the one piece not even plugged in on the upper torso. He'll definitely be a worthy set piece to the IF Bruticus, though I'm pretty sure IF Bruticus will end up bigger because of his partsforming feet.
>>

Motorcyclebots being out of scale is kind of a given, really.

I would like to see an attempt at having them all be in scale someday though. Like have a really compact bike transform into a fairly hollow robot? Those police motorcycles can be a lot bigger than you realize, and giving it some saddlebags to bulk it out would be a pretty clever cheat too.

You could probably get something really convincing going on if anyone ever wanted to design a defensor around having an in scale vehicle mode for Grove.

I think the surest way to tell is by production. Companies that are doing well probably are the ones that are able to continually show off new products and release them in a timely manner. Companies that are in the shitter or are low on cash probably take forever between releases because they don't have to money to ensure a swifter production schedule between design, engineering, prototypes, etc.

My only "issue" is with "Motor". I know the bodies of touring bikes are pretty big, but I think that's tipping the scale a bit. Of course that's to fit the robot, which it's doing pretty well. So I can easily overlook the chunkiness.

I feel like when another company eventually makes an IDW Overlord, everyone will drop Carnifex like a hot potato.
>>
>>6663004
And I feel like you've never actually handled Carnifex, and possibly have brain damage in the event that you have and consider him something anyone would regret.

Beast Gorira is something at that price point where the flaws can be annoying enough to pass on. Carnifex's issues? His shoulder is a bitch to transform, that's pretty much it. I literally can't come up with anything about him of substance I have an issue with... maybe the arms only having 90 degrees of bend? I'm kind of stretching here.

IIRC you gotta photo edit if it's a phone pic, otherwise 4chan goes full retard and can't recognize the pic orientation.
>>
>>6663425
Understood, friendo. I just don't think it'll be easy for another company to try and top what's easily a contender for best 3P figure ever made, period, so any attempts they make to improve some facets will fall flat in others. In my book, him and Apollo are neck and neck at setting the 10/10 bar for other figures.
>>
>>6663441
Honestly if MMC was capable of just retooling him to look like the comics a lot of people would be happy, he's probably my favorite toy in a collection of like 300.
>>
>>6663389
No, you retard
I love IDW Overlord's design. Carnifex looks nothing like him. Learn to read.

Jesus Christ
Just read what you're writing. You shouldn't be able to make statements like that unless you're a fanatic.
>>
>>6663489
A'ight, bud - here's your (you); what's your issue with Carnifex? Let's hear it. Objective facts pertaining to the figure itself, no outside material. I've got a lot of bots, and this guy cleans house. I hate MMC for the most part, I only have 3 of their figures and am pretty unhappy with one, and I'm not a whiny cunt who actually cares about the person who designed a figure.

So go on, big boy. Are his ratchets weak? Ab crunch insufficient? Thigh swivels lacking? Give me something to work with rather than "this figure is bad".
>>
>>6663502
It's exactly the same as everything else designed by Cassy Sark.
It's essentially a resized Hexatron or reshelled Citizen Stack. Look at the joints and proportions. It IS Citizen Stack.

I've been in unlicensed Transformers collecting since before MMC existed and, trust me, Cassy Sark NEVER changes his designs or engineering. It's only by the sculpting work of some other guy (Griffith) that MMC toys at least manage to look good from time to time.

>>
>>6663518
Man, I didn't think people could be this whiny about a guy who makes figures. Nothing you said has anything to do with Carnifex's quality, so move on or make a real point.
>>
>>6663564
Alright, I need to calm down
Let's define what you mean by quality. The issue here is that we obviously value VERY different things in toys.
>>
>>6663580
Plastic. Joints. Range of motion. Weak spots / facets vulnerable to stress over time. Y'know, obvious shit when talking about a physical product you've purchased that's designed to be handled and posed. Try talking about the TOY for one sentence.
>>
>>6662701
>>6663425
Carnifex is one of those figures I want but keep stopping myself from buying. He's a glorious looking fucker but I don't have a single think that fits with him.
>>
>>6663631
I'm not familiar with production, so I couldn't tell you anything about plastics unless what materials were used is listed like with gunpla. I know it's usually PVC, ABS, and POM. I don't really care about that unless it's of noticeable low quality.
For joints, do you favor a specific joint over another? Swivel+hinge over ball joints for instance.
Range of motion is self explanatory. Greater is usually better with few exceptions, I agree.

See, I value novelty first. Novelty in engineering and aesthetics. Secondly, I value how robust and playable a toy is. Nostalgia is a lesser third but still present value for me.
I usually want a toy to do something different from the rest, or the same thing in a different way. This goes for both engineering and aesthetics as stated. That's why toys like Carnifex activate my considerable disgust sensitivity, and why I could never collect more than a few of the Marvel Legends or Star Wars toys.
>>
>>6663662
Yeah, I have him and he's nice, but he's definitely fuckhuge enough that he's both A: clunky despite his best efforts, and and B: kind of on his own size wise. He's great, but I rarely pick him up off the shelf because he's not very interactive. I really wish he were were just a little taller than voyagers so he could go with the toys he's clearly supposed to fit with like spartan, springer, and kultur.

Only thing is he's a bit of a manlet, since he was made during IF's slightly-smaller-than-official-Legends-figures days, so while he's still bigger than most Legends, he's not as big as he "should" be, if you know what I mean. He doesn't match height with armored up God Ginrai or Scorponok.

They don't? I mean, some places still have Magnus even, and he's one of their oldest releases. And I know those places have run out of stock more than a few times.
Hmm...Would anyone know how to contact IF about doing reissues if they don't? I really want a Datsun Bros set at some point but the damn thing was gone in an instant when it came out.

Gabriel does look great for the price and the diaclone cockpit was a brilliant touch that Terminus is lacking but I still think Terminus looks better overall. He's got nicer detailing and overall just looks much cleaner with how seems and joints were handled and he has a few more claw joints which kinda makes Gabriel's single joint claws look a little cheap by comparison.
>>
>>6663820
>Gabriel's single joint claws look a little cheap by comparison
He's got two. One at the base and the other in the middle. The third join on FT was only like one click I believe so not much of an advantage over this.

>holds together better than Gravity Builder
I actually never had any problems with my Gravity Builder. Everything holds solid in combined mode and joints are all pretty solid. The only issue I have with him is the head transformation with all of the cab kibble just kinda laying there on his collar and most of it won't stay flat.
>bot modes being kibble-covered monstrosities with nothing that tabs in
This would be my only complaint with the set. I think the bot modes actually look great and fit the REEEDUN/CHUG aesthetic but yeah, a good number of them just kinda have stuff hanging off of them that can't secure anywhere. It's mostly in the arms that you see it and it's a problem, like Scavenger's silver arm flaps. It's still a nice set IMO but that aspect does kinda make the bots only feel 3/4s finished. It was still a notable step in the right direction from Bruticus, which I also rather enjoyed but it hasn't aged super well and I'm looking to replace it.
>>
Anyone picked up the yesmodel OS guardia members?

Looking at reviews it looks like they seem like they are less of a hassle to transform than the originals.

I always wanted to pick up Gaurdia but the size and the complaints of fiddlyness always turned me off, hopefully yesmodel keeps the quality up.

could pull a Movie Arcee instead and have Groove be several small motorcycles that combine for both Robot mode and Limb mode

Any issue featuring Original The Character: Donut Steele (aka: Anode) is shit. So the first I think, 9 issues? Are pretty much unreadable as Robert's tries to jam his limp cock down your throat and make you love his shitty character who exists primarily to be virtue signaling tumblr bait.
If you want to read IDW stuff, start at the beginning, it's great. It starts getting bad only in the last year or so due to Transformers being forced to carry the rest of the Hasbro shit on their backs.

I just picked it up again last month after dropping it for about a year, and the current arc is pretty damned classic MTMTE so far. I was reading through the stuff before it expecting an absolute slog, but people got way too bent out of shape for something that was like 2-3 issues. The whole functionalist thing went on a little too long, but it gets talked up like everything post relaunch is horrible, when it's OK at worst.

I should mention as well that yeah, they're pretty destitute accessory-wise. All they come with is Sunstorm's torso and three 5mm clips for attaching their jet modes to stands (which they don't come with). At minimum, one stand would have been nice. Something really minor that I like about the coneheads is that because their heads are narrower, well basically it's fairly common (at least in my experience) for the head of the regular guys to get pinched inside the chest while transforming them, which can cause them to pop off the ball joint, the coneheads shouldn't get that problem at all.

That is pretty nice, though it's not so much of an issue on the main 3 once I started flipping the head up first. QC wise though, some of their joints aren't as tight, like the hinges the shoulders are attached to. That's a huge plus, but the pegs the null rays are mounted to are noticeably looser though. I'm gonna have to future the hell out of all of them like I did with starscream.

>>6664380
>She's pretty tiny though, even for legends.
IF is weird in that ALL of their female molds are smaller than their regular figures. Dunno why they do this.
>>
>>6664410
Because muh tiny waifus. Same reason none of them have normal faces, they just have those soft doughy marshmallow faces.
>>
>>6664409
At this point I'm wondering if it's the plastic Starscream's made out of them. With 9+ Seekers/Elite Seekers running around now, and Starscream the only one showing this problem, and regularly enough if several anon's here have had it, could it be his plastic? Or did they pin it in a slightly higher/thicker spot for the new ones?
>>
>>6664415
afaik, starscream and his ghost version were the only ones that had the back hinge installed incorrectly, so maybe those two are connected? Could be the incorrect angle the backpack sits at stresses the knees or something.
>>
>>6664417
How can you tell if your Starscream's back is fucked?
>>
>>6664415
It's almost assuredly a result of the hole being too small. If it were the plastic's composition that's the problem, his nosecone, tail fins elbow joints would likely crack as well, but they haven't.

Since it's a Starscream-only problem they probably tweaked the molds before producing any other seekers.

>>6664417
I don't think that would cause it, I have cracked knees on mine despite being correctly assembled.

>>6664423
The armature holding the back panel has been installed backwards on early versions. If the clip faces downwards instead of up it's misassembled, and that also keeps the back panel from going flush in jet mode.
